2021 Stage 2 Group F: Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw

Valentine frowned disapprovingly when he heard the contorted cackles of mucus-filled laughter. What was meant to be an impersonal affair had turned quite silly, and the professionalism that he had sworn to conduct himself by was sorely lacking on this battlefield. Alas, children would be children, understandably.

Everly’s harsh glare was met with a placating wince from the boy. She could display the full extent of her fury later, and he would entertain whatever things she or his gleeful opponents would have to say.

But until then, he remained with his head in the game. A dull ache was beginning a persistent assault on his mind. It reminded him of the sensation of bleeding out in the snow, an oddly painless process which ate away at his consciousness, lulling him with the temptation of oblivion.

Oh boy did she feel rubbish from this spell, it was possibly worse than any illness she had had before. She didn't know how much longer she could hold out like this. She calmed down from the giggles as she felt worse than she had yet. But she had to keep going to win this duel, she couldn't let them win by default.

I hope you’re pleased with yourself, Toukmond.

Everly somehow didn’t notice the laughing until now.

Grimacing at the sound, she took a step back. Laughter indeed spread like wildfire, and Everly found herself choking on a giggle, with all that was going on by now. Her partner seemed to be the only one not laughing, though, and she sobered up quickly, putting on a more professional, composed face, but children were children, and she found herself laughing again.

Everly shook her head to get all the laughing out of her, reminding herself to focus on what to do. With one last laugh, Everly turned back into her very well prepared, practiced I’m-Taking-Over-The-World-And-You-Can’t-Stop-Me face, the remainders of a teasing smile still on her face.

Robert felt a rush of warmth flow through him as Delilah started laughing as well, and even Everly had to choke back a couple giggles. It was nice to know that the exhaustion of this drawn-out duel wasn't making him go crazy, other people agreed it was getting ridiculous. However, as they seemed to calm down he did as well, focusing once again on the duel. Throwing a grateful smile at Del for her healing spell, he turned back to his opponents.

Jackson continued his onslaught of trying to fell his opponents and possibly feeling the same frustration that they felt when trying to hit Everly. Speaking of Everly she would find herself dodging yet again another one of Robert’s Flipendos. The young raven was unrelenting in his efforts to try and take her down. Delilah would turn her wand on herself to ease the effects of the curse she was under, and she would find the relief that she sought. The clouds started to pull away from her mind, a reprieve of feeling cooler would wash over her as her fever retreated temporarily, and the floor no longer looked suitable for a nap.

At least, for this round, she wasn't dead.

Yet.

Nothing too big happened. Everly dodged another Flipendo sent her way, but Jackson's also missed. Delilah's healing spell succeeded again, and Everly felt a wave of sympathy. Being the only one who wasn't trapped under the effects of the bogies curse, she took a deep breath, thankful.

There was a fire in his lungs that couldn't be quenched. A raspy breath drew torturously out of his quivering lips, taking with it the robust vitality of his youthful visage. Resisting the effects of the Bogie Curse had only worsened the sudden rush of nausea that overcame him when his efforts finally let out.

"Uuunnnrgh," he grimaced audibly, eyes red and puffy. This wasn't fun. Bridget had conditioned him to take a beating, and yet here he was, stricken by a single spell and left to rot away without a glimpse of hope.

Or. . . Perhaps not. Maybe the shining girl beside him would pull through in their endeavor. It was all he could hope for, all that held his resolve together, the aspiration for possibility. A miracle.

After she healed herself, she immediately felt a bit better, not perfect, but better almost as if her debuff was weaker >.> like a weight off of her chest. Ready to get back into the duel with less pain and milder suffering. She just wanted this duel to be over at this point, if it could be finished that would be great.

Jackson was definitely not looking great, making Robert appreciate both his opponent's bad aim and his partner's healing abilities even more. Speaking of which, he was glad to see that she was taking care of herself as well, especially since it looked like she was being affected more than him. Sending off a spell of his own, he honestly wasn't very surprised at this point to see it miss his target.
