A Healing Friendship
Ezekiel had somehow managed to carry Reyna into the Hospital and place her onto one of the beds. His hands were covered in her blood, but she looked fine? He guessed. She looked like death. The nurses were around her before he had backed away. "She is gonna be fine." He muttered to himself, taking a few steps back and sitting down in a chair. He wasn't leaving just yet. He was gonna wait till he knew she was going to be okay.
The nurses were around Reyna, there were only two of them for her, and another one checked in on Ezekiel. He strained himself carrying her in here, they needed to make sure he hadn't injured himself more. He was checked out to be okay, and the nurse joined the others in heling Reyna. They bandaged her head up to stop the bleeding and cleaned off her hands. She looked much better in the short time they were here.
One of the nurses came back over to Ezekiel with a damp cloth, handing it to him to clean off his hands, to which he quickly did so. There were small amounts of blood in his robes, but it wasn't a huge concern, as long as it wasn't his own at the moment.

Reyna's eyes slowly opened, and she quickly blinked the light out of her eyes. That was the first thing she noticed. The bright, white light. Then, the killer headache that was assaulting her brain was the second thing she noticed. She groaned slightly, sitting up and putting a hand to her head, extremely grateful that she couldn't feel any blood on her hands as she did so.
Blood... her mind took a moment to catch up with her body. I got lost... then I fell... then... Reyna racked her brain, feeling as though she were missing a very important detail. Slowly, Reyna placed one hand on the bed she was on, steadying herself before squinting around the room. Finally, her eyes landed on what looked like a black, green, and tan smudge. Him.
"Ezekiel!" Reyna blurted out, her eyes shining slightly as she remembered both the boy and his name. She slid out of the hospital bed, probably too quickly, because the world swam in front of her eyes, but that didn't stop her from gently wrapping Ez in a hug. "Thanks for saving me," Reyna said, grinning and pulling away. She moved backwards a bit, her legs hitting the hospital bed and causing her to stumble a bit as she sat on the hospital bed.

Ezekiel had leaned back into the chair and closed his eyes. He didn't sleep, just closed his eyes. Then he heard a groan. Reyna was awake. He watched as she slowly sat up and looked around the room. Then he heard her shout and jump out of her bed and over to him, wrapping her arms around him. He stood and held her up. "Glad you're awake Reyna. And of course, I, uh, couldn't just leave you there." He gave a soft nervous laugh, helping her continue before trying to get her back onto the bed. "Are you feeling okay? Like physically? What am I talking about, of course, you are, you wouldn't be up, maybe. I don't know."
Ezekiel sat back down in the chair. "I'm glad you're awake though, I have someone to talk to now." He joked. "Well and I was worried... He smiled softly, leaning forward on his knees. "You shouldn't move too much yet, I'm sure one of the nurses will be back to check on you eventually... I'm sorry, I don't have any idea what to say, I'm just glad you're still up and moving around so well already. "

"I'm fine, Ezekiel. I don't need any nurses or help. I'm perfectly-" Reyna fell backward onto the bed due to her legs hitting the mattress before she expected, her arm thwacking against the wall in the process. She winced slightly, her face distorting as she held her arm with her other, sucking in her breath a little. Crap... that was my funny bone... Reyna thought, rocking back and forward on the mattress after shooting up to a sitting position. A painful yet numbing buzzing filled her arm, and the world seemed to lilt slightly due to her moving around too much.
When Reyna's world tilted back into place and the buzzing in her arm fell back to a minor hum, the next thing that happened was that her mouth opened. "So Ezekiel, huh. Do your friends call you anything other than that option that I can use? I'm not saying I'm your friend. That is unless you want me to be your friend? Argh, I'm messing this up, aren't I?" the Gryffindor said in a rush, burying her face in her hands in embarrassment.
Do something to make up for it, her brain urged her, and she searched the room urgently with her pale blue eyes, looking for something she could give him. Her eyes finally landed on a piece of parchment she had been carrying around with her. It had a simple design drawn on it, something that almost looked like a woven blanket, with the threads intertangling with each other. A few days ago she had found it laying on the ground, and she had been keeping it. She didn't know what she would do with it, but now she did. Grinning she fished it out of her pocket and pressed it into the Prefect's hand. "I know it's small, but I just wanted to... thank you, for what you did."

"Are you okay?!" He asked, quickly getting up and going over to her. He stopped just in front of her, before pausing and she managed to ease away the pain herself. His face went a slight shade of red, and he retook his seat across from her bed. Her words came off as awkward as she could be. "One person calls me Ez, but that's about it I would guess. And yes Reyna, we can be friends." He laughed softly, looking up at her as she spoke once more, taking the small paper from her and looking closely at it. It was something so simple but eloquent all at the same time. "Thank you Reyna, but you don't need to thank me." He mumbled, looking down at the piece of parchment she had given him. He actually really liked the simplicity of it, but also how nice the gesture was of her giving it to him.
Ezekiel smiled at Reyna, pocketing the slip. He would write about the incident in his letters later on in the evening when they pushed him back down to the dorms. But until then he was going to stay up here, mostly to make sure Reyna didn't hurt herself again.

"You saved my life and I'm not supposed to thank you?" Reyna asked incredulously, her eyebrows raising. Never in her entire life had she had someone literally save her from death, and she would not stand for not being able to thank him. I swear to Zachary Winslow himself, Ezekiel Wasek, I will find a way to repay you." She was determined to do something to return the favor, and well, besides that, there was just... something about him. Maybe it was the way he talked, or maybe just the way he seemed to act towards other people- whatever it may have been, it drew Reyna towards him.
She was staring too long, looking off into the distance as she thought. Crap, the Gryffindor thought, quickly glancing away to look out of the window, feeling a slight tinge of heat stain her cheeks. Outside was beautiful, especially because of the BlossomFest. Students wandering the multiple stalls, bright decorations everywhere. "So..." the girl mused out loud, turning to face Ez once again. "Did you do anything before coming to Hogwarts? Because I mean, I did dance, but from what I've seen most people have just - been around." Just then, she realized how her words may sound rude. Just been around... god Reyna, how much of an insensitive jerk do you think you can be? She buried her face in her hands, groaning in embarrassment. She was just fantastic at first impressions.

"I didn't mean it like that..." He fumbled over his words, unsure as to what to actually say. "Alright fine, you can repay me however you deem fit." He smiled before chuckingly softly to himself, looking out the window and listening to the screams of joy from the students down below. The festival was nearly beginning, and students were hurriedly running between all of the different game stalls. They were neatly organized against one side of the school, running the whole length as far as anyone could see. It was beautiful outside of the school. Ezekiel was more interested in staying inside though. He was happy to stay here with Reyna, he just couldn't explain why that was.
Ezekiel snapped back from the window and his thoughts. "I had just learned about the school a couple of months before the year began. My father was a muggle, knew nothing of the magical world because my mom refused to tell him anything. So I just did normal muggle stuff all my life. This is such a shift it's amazing." Ezekiel stopped his rambling on, turning the conversation back onto Reyna. "You danced? That's amazing, I wish you could teach me, but you're really hurt.'

That's interesting - going from a 'normal' muggle life to being thrown into this wizarding world," Reyna commented, unable to imagine what that must have been like. After all, she had lived as a witch from the moment she was born. Her parents took her to her brother's Quidditch matches often when she was a child, and whenever she was there she would write 'newspaper articles' about the game. Her passion for writing had grown to an almost all-consuming habit, and casing her to fall behind in school sometimes.
She snapped back into the present by Ezekiel. Her heart was beating at an abnormally fast rate, and she got the feeling that the boy that had stolen it would hear it thumping in her chest. She took a few deep breaths, slowing down her heartbeat to a normal rate, before responding to him. "Indeed, I did do dance. If you want me too I'll teach you. And no, I'm not really hurt," the girl said, already preparing for his contradiction before he even opened his mouth. She stood up, most likely far too quickly, for the world blacked out for a second before reappearing in front of her eyes. She extended her arm to the wall, steadying herself before turning to face Ez. "You up to it?" she asked, a joyful gleam in her eyes.

"Yeah it's been a huge shift, but I think I'm getting used to it, for the most part anyways.
" He felt his life had been average up until that point last year. Played catch with his parents, had little picnics. It was an amazing childhood he had felt he had lived. Now at Hogwarts with all of these people who knew so much more than him, it was a bit overwhelming. He wasn't sure how long he could handle it before needing to get back to home and away from all this talk of magic.
Ezekiel looked up at Reyna took a couple of deep breaths, questioning her, hoping she wasn't overworking herself by staying up like this. He was worried about her. He only had a few friends that he liked to be around, Reyna being one of them so far. "You are hurt Reyna, you shouldn't be getting up and dancing." As she stood against his protest, she wavered, Ezekiel immediately getting up to catch her should she had fallen again. "You shouldn't be moving around yet, you were unconscious for a few hours at least, you don't need to be teaching me how to dance like a professional." The pings of worry ran deep in his voice. What is this feeling? He thought to himself.

"I wouldn't be teaching you how to dance like a professional," Reyna protested. "It would just be the basics... for now" In all honesty, she knew that she would most likely be a horrible teacher. She would most likely rush him and cause him to grow stressed and pressured, and she didn't want that for him especially.
Me standing up and moving around is most likely stressing him... she mused, and reluctantly sat back down on the hospital bed before one of his specific phrases struck her like a bolt of lightning. "I was out for a few hours? No, that can't be. It was only a few minutes, right?" Reyna said, laughing a bit. She had closed her eyes for hardly a moment, felt her heart beating the entire time, felt awake. Then again, it was as though time had shifted, shifted forwards into the future. It was far sunnier out, and there were far too many kids outside for classes to be going out.
"You stayed with me? The entire time?" Reyna asked, her mouth falling open in slight shock. She couldn't quite wrap her head around the fact that a complete stranger had saved her life and stayed with her while she healed. Her heart pounded in her chest once again, sometimes skipping a beat.
