During the patrolling hour in the evening

Hogwarts was utter chaos. Things weren't going as she had hoped they would and it kind of choked her out. She needed a way to express herself. To express herself to the one person who filled her with hope and light. Her number 1 Half-Giant sweetheart: Quinn. Years ago she wouldn't have dreamt that they would've ended up the way they were. In love. Two different worlds, yet astonishingly the same. They found each other in the things that made them different from regular wizards or even muggles.

The birthday of the tall gingerbread giant had arrived and Nico wanted to have atleast one moment of enlightment within these dark days. For a long time now, she didn't know what to do with whatever she was going through. The pain and stress of having to endure the disapproving looks of her peers. If she couldn't make herself happy, she wanted to atleast bring some light to someone she knew to be the most important person to her.

Nico didn't have much time to make him anything big but whatever he was about to witness would surely be imprinted in his mind for long time to come. Before he would arrive, the dhampir had sprinted into the Ballroom, dragging a table into the center. A spotlight would illuminate the white cloth that was draped onto it. They usually covered the tables to keep dust at bay.

She casted fumos, making a slight fog glide over the floor. Nothing would be much visible from the neck up. The spotlight, however, would cut through the mist, casting a light on the table. A blooming light giving the furniture the illusion as if it were glowing.

Dressed in Slytherin uniform, as they were ofcourse still doing patrols, the redhead quickly dashed to the door, peering through the crack. For a moment she'd turn her ear trough the gap, listening if she could hear him approach. And surely some steps with a slow yet steady pace approached the Ballroom entrance. As fast as she could, before nearly tripping over her robes, Nico went and hid behind the table in the fog. Woosh. The clouds would look disturbed for a moment but quickly returned to their natural quiet state as soon as the Half-Giant walked in.

Suddenly, he would hear someone. A voice crystal clear and light. The cold stone walls would let her voice echo. The acoustic of the room would allow her voice to sound like that of a performer in a theater. After an awkward stumble onto the table, he'd lay eyes on the redhead dhampir he knew so well.

Nico would have her eyes closed at first, as if she was singing for something else than just him. Her arms lightly hovering over her sides as they occasionally swayed to the rhythm. As the song grew more intense, she'd open her eyes. Her iceblue hues pierced his gaze as she blushed ever so slightly. But soon tears, red bloody tears, ran down her cheeks. The spotlight falling onto her occasionally showed her pale cheeks covered in red. Even some splatters would fall on the white cloth upon which she was standing. She sang for him. For him to be the one that looked at her in a way no one else could. He was her only beam of hope she was sure of that she could rely on.

She cried there and then, for him but also for herself. The fear she didn't know how to express. The call for help that she never dared to scream at him. She never knew if it was needed... But it was needed. She started to sniffle more and yet, the redhead never hung her head with shame. It was too late for that. Quinn had probably never seen her this honest with such little words. But with so much give.

When she finally came to a stop, her shoulders would shake ever so slightly as her sobbing was starting to kick in. '...H-Happy birthday.. Quinn'. She smiled. Tears running down her cheeks. Red streams cutting through the porcelain cracks of her perfect doll like face. Feeling defeated, she threw her arms up, turning around slightly, watching everything she set up for him. 'My ... apologies for crying...'
