William barely was able to say, "Yeah I'm a Gryffindor.." before she kept going. He just stood there in complete silence as the pink hair girl went on and on about different subjects, hardly even able to keep up with her. He couldn't figure out what Cancer or Capricorn even meant, or why someone would go sharing about the magic world.

He was even more surprised at the reactions of the other two students. He could understand them being annoyed, but he didn't really agree with their reactions. He took a step forward and said, his voice suddenly growing in confidence, "Look...as much as I agree with you all on your points about..zodiacs was it? And muggles; there's no call for this. Look maybe I'm reading things wrong but I think..Ginger, was just explaining her thought process. Now I don't agree with it either, but I think we can come to a better conversation agreement without getting angry or something like that."

He ran his right hand through his brown hair and took a deep breath, half expecting to get yelled at or straight up decked, but hoping it wouldn't come to that. His brown eyes trailed between the group, taking in all of their mannerisms, hoping things wouldn't escalate more then they already seemed to be.

In hoping of finding common ground with everyone he said, "Look, I'm from a full muggle family. I have no idea who in my family was a..warlock or whatever we call ourselves. I don't think its a bad thing to have any different people in your family from the norm, no matter what. As a matter of fact I think its more lucky to have a parent with their feet in both worlds. I mean then you can get the best of each right? Like I said before, I could just be reading this wrong, so I'm sorry if I am."

He took another deep breath, looking between them. When Quinland asked him how he was he turned his attention to him and said, "Nice to meet you all too. And I'm..fine." He said 'fine' with a slight hint of not being honest. "How are you all?" He asked as he looked around, hoping people hadn't begun to hate his guts by that point.

It seemed that Ginger not only angered Opeila but also got the before so cheerful Hufflepuff annoyed. Honestly, Opeila didn't know what to think about Quinlan's sensitivity about the word muggle. It was a word for non- magical people, like wizard and witch was the term for what the four children were. If he had such a big problem with a harmless word like muggle, he would encounter way bigger problems in the next months. Not too long ago Opeila had been involved in a debate about muggles, where a blood purist girl very openly voiced her opinion that muggles were worthless.
However, Opeila shared his opinions about the 'tricks'. The magical world was the one that was full of tricks. The muggle world had to play by the rules and created things, that many magical people failed or didn't even try to understand. That was likely the cause for Quin's anger.

The other boy, William, was surprisingly the one who got in the middle, probably hoping do deescalate everyone before the situation blew up. Oh boy, you might be a bit late for that. But it was a good try for sure. Very diplomatic. Agreeing with the majority but also calming them down. Opeila nodded at his words. "You're right. Excuse my outbreak.", she said maybe in a little too controlled polite tone, turning to Ginger again. She still had meant every word of it. Some people learned better when they got punched in the face.

It would have been fine if Ginger had only explained her thought process. But what the Ravenclaw had done, was far more than that, and she was obviously not realizing it.
Opeila knew that she tended to be naive at times, but Ginger brought the meaning of naivety and simple carelessness to new heights. And that annoyed the second year immensely.

Ginger's words destroyed the Slytherin's partly rebuilt self-control again. She never meant it about the zodiacs. That she had been joking was obviously the case. "Well, it was not clear. The reactions you are getting right now, should tell you enough about the impression you were making. It was insensitive and inappropriate.", Opeila told the younger girl in a calm but sharp tone.

And then Ginger seemed to talk herself into a downward spiral of self-pity. Opeila's brows furrowed further and further, the more the child said. "No. Hey, did you even listen to one word I said? I just told you what the problem is; You don't realize when you get insensitive. You don't notice when people get uncomfortable at your talking. You talk too much and don't listen and watch enough. Did you even notice that you completely ignored a question I asked you earlier? You are too focused on yourself. That makes it off-putting to talk to you."

Maybe Opeila's honesty was brutal, but she didn't care. It was only fair to tell the kid where the problem was, so she could work on it. But instead of being reasonable, instead of listening and thinking about it Ginger turned around and kicked down her snowman. Opeila sighed. Not that the child harmed anyone but herself by destroying her own work. Well. Her choice. She looked after the Ravenclaw, who ran away, over Hogwarts grounds. Go ahead, little one. Run from your mistakes, from truths you don't want to hear and wail in self-pity, telling yourself that the world is against you. Poor thing. Opeila had the feeling that Ginger was exactly that type of person.

"Well..." Opeila jumped off her branch. "Wasn't that interesting. I think I've had enough for today. It was nice to meet you two." The Slytherin rolled up her magazine and put it into a pocket of her coat, before she walked towards the castle's doors. Only a few meters away, she stopped for a second. For a second she could have sworn... She heard a scream, carried back to the castle by the wind that blew over the grounds today. A familiar scream. Really? Her brows moved upwards and she shook her head. That was simply ridiculous now.
Opeila entered the castle.

Oh. God.

Quin shut his eyes against the new, now much more discordant rush of noise and chaos and energy and now...tears and howling... from the pink haired girl, and felt an peculiar mix of guilt and disgust all at once. He might have been too harsh, but he didn't think he was wrong. The term muggle felt so strangely loaded, and she'd been the one to act like muggles only had tricks, and nothing in her encyclopedic discussion had given him any indication she was in any way kidding about her facination with the zodiac. Nothing at all, no mater how much he tried to rake back through the conversation through a hint, though with the noise, tears and destruction, he supposed he might have missed something.

Regardless it was.. it was really not the reaction he was prepared for. He might have taken it if she'd yelled -back- at him, instead of wandering off screaming that everyone hated her. Truth be told he was a hair put out too at being judged by someone that had just barely walked in on the conversation too, but maybe that was understandable. William didn't have the full picture, just two irritated people dressing down someone who was now knocking things down and weeping at gale force levels in a way that reminded him of one of his American cousins. (Entirely non magical, as far as anyone knew or expected.) And then she ran... ran in the direction he might have taken a minute ago, had he had the sense to jam a cork into his emotions and sprint for open fields instead of setting off... that. He winced again as from the semi distant direction of the lake, a piercing wail cut through the cold air, as Opeila neatly took her leave with the cold fury of an irritated fairy tale queen.

"Well. Cool." He announced, with overwhelming sarcasm. "Cool. That's great. I just... that's great.

Merlin's Beard he'd just wanted to have a moment of things that felt... normal. Apparently he couldn't even manage that though, and he'd probably just been branded a badger-bully.

"I'm..." He gestured faintly at the castle, trying to think of places where the pink haired girl might now follow, were she so inclined, and half debating if he should try and find a lift back home and forget this whole magical-schooling thing altogether. "I'm... Yeah. That."

He declared, as though that were at all clear, though his flustered, red faced retreat was.

William stood silently as Ginger stormed off and then barely heard her scream afterwards. He didn't understand why she reacted that way, but again, he found it completely unnecessisary. He wished he could help her, but she didn't seem to want much company at the moment.

His facial expression didn't change as Opeila seemed to storm off, not from anger, but from annoyance. He understood her frustration, it was quite annoying when people acted too emotional for no reason. When she said it was nice to meet him and Quinlan, he simply nodded at her and watched her walk off.

He turned ever so slightly towards Quinlan, hoping he could at least smooth things out with him, but seeing his red face he knew that was far out the window. He sighed as Quinlan stammered to explain he was heading back in, just watching him leave too.

Why were people so angry all the time? Why did emotions cloud judgement so much? Why couldn't people just get along? All these thoughts rummaged through William's head as he stood there, just breathing. He needed some time to think, even though he had nothing to do with the start of the conversation, the end certainly didn't rub him right. He started to walk back inside, to just walk the halls with only his thoughts to keep him company.
