Descending like some kind of angel, Katrina came to Calanthe and the unconscious boy’s aid. The younger girl did not even have to respond to her partner’s inquiries as the redhead immediately knelt and offered words. She mentioned getting him out of the caboose, but Calanthe was not so sure. The January winter was biting and she could see the snow-covered landscape out the end of the blown-off entrance. The train car’s interior temperature would soon acclimate, but for now, staying inside it felt like the best option.
Katrina cast the charm Calanthe had been thinking of. The boy’s body glowed - almost beautiful, despite their circumstance. Her scattered brain wandered back to the first duelling stage. Was this how I looked? … No, snot was surging out of your nose. Definitely not. It took a moment for her to register that the glow had come away with no change to the boy’s state of consciousness. Her eyes widened at the realization that the boy might be dead. Her fingers instinctively made their way to his neck, checking for a pulse. And she released a heavy, shuddered breath, chest relaxing in relief.
Another body’s descent drew Calanthe’s eyes from the boy. An older Gryffindor attended to some of Katrina’s wounds and moved on just as quickly, before either of the partners could say a word.
"Kat-,” but her sentence was intercepted by the girl she was speaking to. As she got to her feet and turned away, Calanthe understood. This was by no means okay. None of it. Katrina was keeping it together remarkably well, all things considered. “It’s okay. Kat … it’s okay.” She could not be sure if her partner had heard her or not. When one needed to collect themself, it was natural to block out their surroundings, and Calanthe knew the feeling of getting lost in her thoughts all too well. And the younger girl had nothing else to offer. It’s okay was all she could muster up, and she knew that was the most useless thing to say at that moment.
For the last few seconds of Katrina’s moment, Calanthe took it upon herself to slow her rapid breaths and focus her head completely on the present. Katrina returned, echoing Calanthe’s fears about the weather doing more harm than good. On his side to keep the airway from getting clogged? Would that work? Was that necessary? Both your parents are doctors for god’s sake. You should know this! Whatever. She would just listen to Katrina and help her move the boy’s body to the side of the hall.
“I got him. I’ll stay. You go. Do what you can.” It was probably the best place for Calanthe. Out of the way, and in no position to cause more trouble. The last time something like this happened, she had tunneled on getting out of the situation as soon as possible. That was not going to happen here. There was nowhere to go. She just had to sit still and hope help came for her and the boy sooner rather than later. Unless something else happened that required her attention. Like the Herbology girl, who was still trying to retrieve the owls. Calanthe would help her if she looked like she needed it, but the Gryffindor just needed to … stay still, for a while.
Rethinking shifting the boy onto his side, Calanthe thought about the possibility of a spinal injury. Can’t wizards heal things like that? That was enough for her and she tried placing him in a recovery position.

What deities had Ana annoyed? What had she done wrong in her life to deserve disaster after disaster? Those were questions to ponder at a later date.
"Decipio, there's not a way out through here, can you get out any of the windows?" she called as she progressed. That would work, right? If the train had flipped about the way Ana believed it had, that would place Evelynn on top of the train. Not ideal, but certainly better than the current situation. Granted, Ana was spectacularly disoriented and quite honestly was not certain what was up and what was down at this point. She had to find a way out.
Terrifying as this might be, it was vastly preferable to frolicking the forest with Katrina and Derook. It wasn't dark out and she had more people who could potentially help. On the other side of that coin, there were more people that could get hurt. Had the rest of the train noticed they were gone yet? Surely they had. A train car couldn't just disconnect and flip without someone noticing, right? Even with luck as bad as Ana's, that seemed improbable.
She tried to steady her breathing as she gingerly kept moving down the hallway. She was going to survive this. They all were. She had to believe that because the alternative was utterly terrifying.
Long story short, I survived

January 3rd, 2021.
#b76e79What Everly would like to know was, how in the world did Jackson manage to set himself on fire, twice in a row?
Now that was an achievement.
When Jackson’s Extinguo backfired, setting himself on fire once more, the second year who approached them quickly put out the flames, casting Extinguo. Hopefully hers didn’t backfire either, otherwise they’d be in trouble.
Everly turned to the third-year that she recognized, and now she knew from where. Elena Jangleton was not one she wanted to approach back then, but she was hurt and they were in a bad situation. Everly quickly took a look at Elena and the turned-over train car that was crushing the boy’s [marshal, not elena] leg. She knew that they had to remove the car before the pressure could cost him more damage, but Everly also didn’t know if doing so would have any drawbacks. She knew that far, and silently she cursed herself for not learning more about healing magic. Note to self if I survive, she thought, gritting her teeth, in the future, think... of... all possible scenarios.
“Hey!” she yelled towards the general direction of everyone else who had spilled out from the toppled train car. “Anyone know healing magic or something? Or a way to contact help? Because, um, a lot of people are dying here!”
Everly then bent down next to the boy and Elena after her distressed call for help. Elena seemed to have cast a spell that bandaged herself and temporarily stopped the bleeding, but Everly knew that they needed to find help, and quickly. “Does it hurt anywhere else other than your leg?” Everly asked, directing the question at both of them, examining the train car to see how heavy it was and if she could move it. Everly was only pretending to know what she was doing, but Elena needn’t know that.
Everly didn’t think she was strong enough to move the train car. (Bring in the 0 strength) She was also against that idea in the possibility that she might get hurt by doing so by straining a muscle or something, she had no idea. And so she resorted to magic, trying to think of a way to lift the train car before it cost the boy even more damage. And besides, the Ministry or someone would find them, right, underage magic under certain circumstances and all?
“Sorry if I accidentally crush you or something!” Everly said to Elena, trying to give her a reassuring smile. “Wingardium Leviosa!” She said, lifting her wand, face deep in concentration.ACTION: yell at people for help, cast wingardium leviosa to try and lift the train car that is crushing marshal’s leg, trying to be a smarty-pants

Much had happened during AJ's well spent minutes lying in the snow feeling sorry for himself. The first and probably most notable was the third year whom he could roughly identify as a member of his duelling team through his tears deciding that he would look significantly better if no part of him was visible.
Being covered in the makeshift 'bandages' was an uncomfortable experience. His skin was sheared, friction burnt, heavily bruised and some of his bones were broken however there was no blood to actually absorb with the bandages. He winced and gasped as he felt the pressure on his sensitive wounds. He wanted to politely request Raine stop, to go give her aid to someone who deserved it, but before he could say much his face become covered with bits of torn robe and he couldn't get a loud enough word out. His throat was still quite dry and now with his pain speech had become quite tricky.
The whole situation didn't do much for his dignity or self-esteem, but it did serve to snap him back to reality which he so desperately needed. His fellow Lions were in distress, some of them wounded worse than him, some of them might even die.
There was no time for him to be wallowing in despair. Terrible wizard though he might be, he refused to be remembered as the only one who did nothing in this whole incident.
Even though a stiff breeze at this point could probably kill him he would try to get to his feet, at first mistakenly he leant on his broken arm. Yelping in pain and slipping back down to a lying position he would try to get up off the other arm. That was if Raine's spell didn't take effect first.
Action: Trying to get to his feet, if Raine's wingardium doesn't go off.

Outside the Train (North)
@Jackson Valentine was on fire. The sick scent of burning cloth and flesh, an amgleation that was both oddly appetizing and stomach churning. The pain, a mixture of searing heat he could not escape that was all consuming and a strange numbness that came from a pain that was unrelenting. The brain sometimes does a kindness, turns parts off to protect ones mind from madness. He would throw himself onto the snow and thrash about. The cool, white icy rime that covered the Scottish fields would turn to slush but quell the flames.
As the boy thrashed about, the respite that came from the icy snow a girl Jackson might have known or perhaps not would attempt to render aide, @Elena Jangleton. Drawing her tie from about her neck she would attempt to pat away the small flames that stubbornly remained alight on his clothes. Her body between Jackson and the train, an unintended boon for the boy (as mentioned later in this moderation)
Scarlet Aden would join Elena, mentioning that there was a spell that could have been used. A better way to do it perhaps -- Extinguo.
"Just stay still, you'll be fine."
Instructive, not sentimental. Better than nothing. There were not friends. No assertions of anything besides continued survival. Scarlet would start to make small talk with Elena, Jackson was probably now fine. The fire was gone and he probably had plenty of blood.
_______
Xailah would round the edge of the caboose and find underside of the train facing her. The train was well-kept but badly damaged. There was little hope that this train would ever be rideable again. There were also several injured, beyond Valentines unfortunate luck there was also Marshal Mozor's broken form resting in the snow. He was run over by the train, not actively pinned down. His leg crushed, he needed medical attention (and to post) but he did not need the train which still possessed students to be overturned. Still, Everly Charlton started to think as Xailah exited the car.
Xailah knew that something awful was about to happen, she even mentioned it to those congregated on the inside. Something explosiveand she did not underestimate Meenauh, however she might have underestimated the spell. [Evasion with advantage] For the others however, there was no true warning, just the screech of metal and the roar of flames. Hunks of flaming, twisted metal and bits of burnt carpet would spray from the underside of the train.
Elena Jangleton, Scarlet Aden, Everly Charlton and the unfortunate Marshal Morzor in path of the spray.
They might not notice it at first. Was marshall screaming? (He never posted, so who knows). Was Marshall saying anything? Was he even moving? Well, he was not any longer. Between the blood loss and the injury he just sustained, he would be rendered unconscious. The boy would move no more.

Her spell would prove ineffective, but the flames would be quelled by other efforts. By Jackson's own thrashing and by Elena's attempts to pat out the stubborn flames. He would be wet, cold and still bleeding but he was in a batter, albeit perilous state.Scarlet would cast Extinguo on Jackson.
Roll: 2 (+6)
It was astonishing how the others hardly noticed his agony or his screams. Involved in recovering their kittens and owls, finding their friends and considering their own wants and needs. The world is defined by them and their worlds were so small Jackson was not a part of it. Yet the kind, rare words of Jangleton might perhaps stay with him.Jackson is no longer on fire.

Marshall is unconscious[/mention]
The car still had people inside as well as a gaping hole, but perhaps there was someone else under. Perhaps it would just be funny to see the car roll on top of Elena. A critical failure that was to the girl's benefit as dark as that might have been. Regardless, the train that was too heavy for her to move would also be too heavy for her to lift with magic also.
Not that she knew that. She would have to try, in spite of the fact that she was more likely to injure the students inside the car if there was even a modicum of success.
“Sorry if I accidentally crush you or something!”
Well, she verbalized the risk. maybe this was not entirely an 'oopsie'. Oh well, there might not be any surviving witnesses to testify.

Thank Merlin it was not a critical success or a failure, someone might have died just then.Check for crit - Wingardium Leviosa.

Outside the Train (East)
Galton was an odd one, he would draw attention to himself with his lumos and his shouting. He would see two girls near a broken boy that was bleeding ink as well as his very large friend Hugh Lowe. The big guy was not moving.
He would notice something unusual that was in flight. It looked like a plane with no wings, like a Boeing Jet that was missing a rather important part. It was flying low, too low to be normal. Perhaps it was about to crash! A fiery death perhaps awaited them.Galton observation
Roll: 12 (+11)
Galton would be the first to see the above. It would fly past silently, only a shadow cast by its' presence would temporarily eclipse the light but as quickly as it would overcome them, it would be gone to the west.
Opeila Winters would remain with Vladimir. He was not moving, he was not getting better. He looked impossibly pale, the snow seemed to have more color than the drained teen. The blood on the ground and in the snow was dark, like ink. Yet the cuts in his face, those on his hands, abrasions and lacerations both deep and shallow that would never turn to scars bled a bright crimson red. She would wrap the a wound that she could see, a deep cut on his arm that was likely gained during the crash that flung him from the locomotive that was deep enough she could see white at the bottom. Yes, bone.
The air was biting cold, hard for nimble fingers to feel so the strip of cloth would appear clumsy. The same for her own wounds, not as severe, mostly contusions and scrapes. Crystal, Griseldis' owl was perched nearby, a witness to the curious scene. Griseldis would pass Galton, the strangest boy to have ever graced this school to get to their side. A sick scene would meet her, Opeila only had 1 action per round - bandage one or the other.
The sickening grind that could be heard from where Griseldis stood, the boy's arm was fractured and as the girl tried to move his limb the bone became displaced. Noticeably deformed, the bloodied limb was no longer straight. Vladimir was close to death, Griseldis would decide to write the Professors a letter. To summon help.
Professor Pendrast,
Students got attacked by cowboys on the Hogwarts Express. The car exploded and rolled off from the rails. There are a few with injuries and still in danger. We need help! My owl can guide you the way to us!!
Griseldis Edelhardt
This being her second action for the round, it would be destined to fail. She would afix the letter to Crystal and her loyal owl would fly off in the wrong direction. The owl was headed back to London, the rail station rather than the school that they were destined. Not that either would be a short journey for the valiant owl who would defy the cold for the sake of its master.
What was happening on the Hogwarts Express:
Thankfully Griseldis did not try to carry Athanatos, it might have been the death of him. She would attempt to get him to sit. She would be surprised to find how slick he was with blood. He slid from her grip and limply impacted the ground. Thankfully a matter of inches was far from deleterious. But next round...The train would lurch in response to the explosion that that ripped the caboose from the rest of the train. Some of the students would see it, the train roll onto the icy fields. @Henry Llewellyn and @Pericles Dralt being a pair of Ravenclaws that would see this terrible scene (why: top point earners for the month of February that were not on the caboose already). Perhaps they (or a faceless NPC) would have notified the staff, even the conductor who was far from the incident and immediately unaware.
Time would pass slowly for them, the tracks move in a singular direction. They would need to reach Hogsemeade and then turn around. A message would have already been sent to Hogwarts - the heads of house made aware that something, someone was hurt. The actual extent of the explosion or even the cause unknown. It was easy to presume that the students had practiced their magic out of turn and it led to disastrous consequences, the early assumption. Not that this slowed the emergency response.
The incident occured in the Scottish highlands, the location approximate with the amount of time remaining on the journey. An hour left, an hour out. Help was on the way, but they would have to hold tight for about an hour.
"Can you help me support him to stand up a bit when I turn around? Then try to place him on my back so I could try to carry him like a backpack."
It was a good plan, get him out of the elements and out of the cold. Hypothermia in addition to his other injuries would be enough to take out even the most durable of youths.
Outside the Train (South)
Raine might recall the story of Jarleth Hobart, a wizard who wished to go down in history as the first wizard who could fly. A limitation of the spell sadly being that it cannot make a person fly, in his case the temporary delusion of success was through the erroneous casting of the spell during its noval years on his attire that caused him to levitate or float.
She would draw her wand and point it at the felled youth she knew as AJ. The only one to fall off the train in this direction and the furthest from the crashed caboose. Wingardium Leviosa -- she would carry him back to the train.
Allister-Jameson MacAllister would be lifted up, his tired, limp prone body would attempt to turn over, in flight. He was conscious, trying to move. Trying to get back to his people, just too battered, bruised and beaten to do so quickly. His clothes tugging him upward, that is until his coat slipped off him. He would fall down, face first into the snow, his coat hovering over him as he face planted mercilessly into the icy ground.Raine casts Wingardium Leviosa
Roll: 1 Critical Failure
Things were already bad and Raine would have to fear the worst, there were a great number of dark rumors swirling about the school. Bad luck, bad omens and bad times...AJ lost his final health point and has been rendered unconscious, his coat is floating over him.
Inside the Train
Starlee would have to rescue the owls in the compartment. Her bloodied, bandaged hands would feel heavy, sore and cumbersome and she attempted to handle the cages and the panicked animals. They needed comfort and their human but they also needed to be in a safe place and as far as the girl was concerned, a safe place was not here.
She would draw her wand in her bandaged hands and cast Wingardium Leviosa on Flutters cage.
A clean cast, the case would become weightless and start to float. The cage would technically rattle and shake, the terrified bird noticing above all else the movement. Flutters would be forever traumatized, good luck ever getting them back into a cage ever again. The cage would easily lower, dropping into her hands.Wingardium Leviosa cast on Flutters.
Roll: 18
Hoo HOO HOO!
Evelynn was still in the very compartment she started her journey and experienced her own personal teenage drama. All she knew was that the train was now on its side, her world truly askew. She had lost a compartment-mate (Jackson) and another was left crumbled and limp from a boomerang to the face. She was not going to spend time with Rafael of all men if this was her last day on earth.
Anastasia Beckett would call back the presumed orientation of the car. She was right, the train was turned onto its side and Eve was on the top. From there Evelynn would have to depend on herself. She could either go up or down. Up promised sunlight, fresh air and broken glass. It was through that very window that Jackson Valentine was launched onto the frozen fields. She could not even be certain that he was still alive.
Evelynn would choose to move downward, towards the central aisle now on its side. She would squat next to the door, perhaps peer down. With hands bracing the wall, she would lower herself from the upper compartment. The crunch of debris and broken glass was disturbing. She would have to slowly lower herself [Strength Check] to the aisle below otherwise she would come crashing down next to Ana.
She had more upper body strength than Rafael might have credited her for as she braced herself for a mostly graceful descent into the main mid space of the car. She would see the space cluttered with luggage and other confused, disoriented students. Alan dealing with a kitten adjacent and below. She would see light and feel a cool breeze laterally. There were options for escape to her front and her rear. Xailah would take one such exit, a shard of glass held like a dagger in her dainty, gloved hand she would exit the broken car leaving the damaged, the confused and the erm... explosive inside.Eve lowers self into hall.
DC: 12
Strength Roll: 16
Alan would pick up Tiger, the agitated kitten whose needle-like meathooks would pinch the Gryffindor's skin (too small for damage). The cat could have held onto a vertical space, leaving Alan's hands 'free.' He would look up, through the passage he entered. That was the only way out, up.Xailah Alptraum has left the caboose
His call for help would be answered by Griseldis (one action per round). She would extend her hand downward and reach for the Prefect. She was stronger than she looked, her hand would grip onto the youth and she would pull him upward. Alan would also reach up and attempt to grip the doorframe. His noodle arms would bode poorly in this situation. He was a lover (with 0 boyfriends or girlfriends I think) rather than a fighter and obviously not much of a lover so his chances were close to nil.
But kittens give Alan strength. In preparation for becoming a crazy old cat guy, he would muster the physical brawn to pull himself into the hallway. Seated on the door's edge he would see Evelynn and Meenauh. @Piérre Marchonné remained sprawled out in the aisle, unconscious. He would ask for help, the kitten still adhered potentially forever to Alan's flesh.Alan attempts to climb out of the compartment.
Strength Check 19 (Gris assisted so +8 strength from her also)
Griseldis would not stay at Alan's side, she would leave the mangled car and find Opeila and Vladimir bleeding into the snow. [Griseldis would leave the train and head east]
Oh Meenauh... SO beautiful, so dangerous. She should have been born in hufflepuff due to her fiery, destructive potential but the hat saw at least as much bravery as fire. Lord, she must be very brave.
Meenauh found two exits to be woefully insufficient. They needed more holes in the train so that they can keep warm. Not that there was a great deal of distance between the girl and the wall, the wall that she would ultimately destroy with the flick of her wand and a single statement.
...Bombarda.
A woosh of heat would redden her face and and scorch the ends of her long hair. The floor would explode outward, on the other side her housemates. Well, one housemate. [Refer to Outside the train (North).]Meenauh casts Bombarda
Roll: 13
Anastasia Beckett would see the new hole, the hole Meenauh saw as an entrance but Ana saw as an exit. There were three was out, the rear, the front and the middle. Three ways to get out and to explore the overturned car's surroundings. To see who else was injured. In the car, there were those who would loiter. Rafael was still in the compartment, failing to call out or leave. She would have no way of knowing his condition at the moment. Evelynn was of course fine as she lowered herself onto the floor. She would not know the fate of Jackson who was hurled from the train or Joshua who remained crumbled in his seat. Galton was making noise at one end and at the other a concerned pair of girls were looking down at a pile of luggage.
Yes, Piérre still needed help. The giant hole in the train was helpful for someone, just not that particular Gryffindor whose luggage was rocked by the concussive event. Katrina Walker was tending to him, buried beneath the luggage and by buried it was only a couple of pieces. His limp, bruised body was readily visible beneath it all. She could not leave him, she had a debt to repay it would seem. There was not much she could do, turn Pierre on his side, drag him to a place that was clean, clear and an little more out of the way. The gaping hole in the middle of the floor wall was letting cold air into the car. An additional means of ingress and egress, Piérre needed neither at this time. So she would pull him between a pair of doors, so the door would not give way beneath his weight.
Calanthe would feel a pulse, Piérre was still alive even if he looked like he might be dead. She would offer to remain by Piérre's side while Katrina got help, found someone that could revive the boy before he wrote a novella in his own mind as he remained in a limbo between life and death, in his own dreamscape.
This was not where this would end, not today. You see, Galton might be insane but he really did just see something (with that successful observation roll). There was no sound of ingenuity, just a strange vessel even by muggle standards. It looked like a... yes, it still looked like a plane that would land on the track, flying low over the displaced crowd of student's heads. The actual... body, yes wingless body would roll to a stop. Not over itself but wheels. Wheels like one would find on a car. An expensive car, yes the hubcaps were shined like mirrors and they would continue to spin (yes very 90's deal with it I am the mod) after the actual wheels had come to a halt.@Xailah Alptraum 900/1200 [outside]

Several minutes would pass. The actual accident only transpired about 15 minutes ago, but time would feel so much slower for them. Another 5 minutes would feel like 5 hours. Yet a door would open downward, a set of... stairs? Yes, stairs. An older man with a brimmed hat would emerge from the unusual aerial vessel dressed in a suit with refined features that suggested the wealth everything about his entourage would only reiterate.
"It would seem that there has been... an accident," he would remove the black hat from the top of his head and place it over his chest. "Young wizards on their way to Hogwarts, yes?" He seemed calm despite the travesty before him. "Quickly, come into my car," yes he called the monstrosity a 'car.' It was no car, not even close. It was a narcissistic display of wizardry prowess and wealth.
"Those that are injured might need some help," he added as he eyed the deplorable scene before him. "We will get you warm and where you need to be," yes we. He was not alone. Why would he be, a man with means is rarely on his own.
If anyone asked for a name, he would answer. "Thaddeus Athanatos," a name they had heard of many times before even if they did not realize. He was best known at St. Mungos in London for his patronage to the medical arts. His love of opera, for those that walked in such circles and of course his exorbitant displays of wealth. There were recent political aspirations that have also reached the media, his interest in becoming the next Minister of Magic was expressed in print a few months ago. His own home had been ransacked a month ago, undefined 'priceless' wares stolen and the thieves remained at large.

When the train crash, he then gets out of the train and later he saw Thaddeus Athanatos and it all clicked in his mind he was the one who framed Harry Potter, after looking at his facial features and looking into his eyes he had the look who it was he was not very happy at all "You're the one, who framed Harry Potter!." He said to Thaddeus angrily. He read about Thaddeus Athanatos in an article in the Daily Prophet; he seems the type to frame someone if it means to gain power. This was Jacob's assumption of Thaddeus, he knew from the moment he laid eyes on him, he knew that it was only a matter of time before he confessed; if he did confess at any rate. This is due to him trying really hard to figure out who framed him and why. If he could he could potentially find himself in a lot of trouble if he did not confess and was in fact innocent. If that is the case Thaddeus Athanatos would probably be sent to Azkaban and would have a life sentence for framing an Auror for something he did not commit. This was bad for him and the Wizarding World

A strange thing that fire was. Unlike conventional injuries, it hurt at first, but then, it didn't. Valentine had a high tolerance to discomfort, but his blood aflame was a sensation so excruciating that it brought the first year to his knees. As his blackened skin burned away, the nerve endings deep beneath were fried, yielding no further pain. He felt nothing. It was arguably worse than the earlier suffering he endured, as he could no longer gauge the damage he was taking.
His animalistic screams did not go unheard. @Elena Jangleton and @Scarlet Aden noticed him, each seeking to provide first aid in their own good-natured way. With his ears still ringing, and his vision composed into a slate of empty whiteness, there was little he could do to resist when he felt the touch of fabric on his arm. If someone was there to kill him, they might as well have, as there was nothing left that he could do to prevent it. He mouthed a wordless plea, unsure even then what it truly meant. Valentine was not a believer, but when under the impression that he was at death's door, it seemed that even he would reconsider the purpose of his final resting moments.
Death never came. To his relief, the fire on his body went out. A long gasp escaped from his throat, the gift of life clawing for a foothold once again. His glossy eyes seemed to break from their trance when he saw Elena crouched above him.
Just stay still, you'll be fine.
He nodded involuntarily as the frost began to creep beneath his chin, inducing a spine-chilling shiver across his body. Mere seconds ago, he had been roasting, and now he was buried in the cold. For the moment, he remained there, gradually allowing his senses to return to him as his mind wrestled to stay conscious. He couldn't see nor hear Scarlet. He was still dazed but had he seen her then, he would have expressed his gratitude in his own little way, even if her efforts to extinguish him were just as unsuccessful as his own.
He was so out of it that he wouldn't notice the explosion caused by @Meenauh Silmataurea. All he felt was a rush of wind, like the sudden arrival of the summer breeze. The air was warm too. Comfy. Somehow, he had remained completely unscathed from the pieces of debris that would be scattered by the outward eruption of the metal caboose wall. Elena's kindness to him would unexpectedly cost her, but as Lear did not specify what exactly happened to Elena, Marshal, @Everly Charlton, and Scarlet, I suppose we will never really know what the consequences were.
What ensued was the passage of time. Simple. Natural. And yet, doing nothing had a way of repairing the senses. Valentine could feel blood running through his feet again. He could move.
Many often criticized the stubbornness of Gryffindor boys, those who looked at rules and saw low fences to be crossed at liberty. Elena's instruction had been heeded thus far, but the boy would not be deterred. Unlike @Marshal Mozor, he was still living and breathing (by this point, Jackson had presumed Marshal to be dead).
He was reckless, he'd give his critics that, but he learned from his mistakes. He had seen the perils of taking more than one action in a round just moments earlier. With that in mind, he proceeded to very carefully navigate his next few motions, ensuring that he did not overstep the limitations of his finite action pool.
He was not very strong, nor was he in the very best of shape at that point in time. But if he could not even manage to support his own weight, he was practically done for anyway, so it didn’t hurt to try.Jackson attempts to stand up.
Upon arriving in an upright position, the boy offered an affirmative nod to the girl who had helped him, committing every contour of her visage to memory. He’d repay this kindness someday.
His attention was now turned to @Thaddeus Athanatos, whose arrival was no less spontaneous and unexpected than the throng of cowboys who he had not caught a glimpse of before being unceremoniously thrown from the train car. The man promised medical aid.Jackson will remember that.
While @Jacob Harman and likely many others were adamantly suspicious of his timely arrival, some among them had no other choice. Valentine was one such individual. He had but a sliver of life left in him.
He would take his chances with the mystery man, whose aforementioned patronage to the medical arts would likely allow him to determine that the boy was losing far too much blood. This wasn’t even accounting for the fact that his skin had darkened to the complexion of a burnt pizza. He shambled forward with the speed of a zombie, leaving behind him a trail of stained crimson in the snow. He would come up upon the man wordlessly before any of his peers did, accepting whatever aid he would be willing to give.Jackson HP: 75/500, bleeding (-50 per turn)
Jackson will bleed out in 2 rounds.
Valentine was not without his suspicions, but he had not chosen this course of action without deliberation of the outcomes. If the man indeed had malicious intentions, those who remained behind would be able to watch from safety. They would be better informed to make the right decision for themselves.Jackson approaches Thaddeus.

Katrina knew she needed to refocus. As she turned away from her dueling partner and the boy who she owed her life, she knew it was only a matter of time before she started to break down. It happened with every catastrophe. The ball with fire and stabbings. The ball with mosps and bleeding. The kidnapping with werewolves and the inevitable. And it was happening now. She held on for so long, trying to help as many people as she could. But then she started to fray, falling apart, becoming more and more useless until she was a limp girl sobbing on the ground, weak and unable to do anything.
Katrina could hear Calanthe’s assurances. That it was okay. And although she could technically hear the words and she understood what they meant, she couldn’t actually apply the words, really absorb them. In another time or place, Katrina might have been able to make more of a moment out of it. Thank Calanthe for her support. Perhaps have a revelation about how others care about her. Use the words to carry herself out of her deteriorating mental state and instead be rejuvenated. But now, the just went over her head. Instead, Katrina pretended to not hear it so she didn’t have to react to it.
Katrina turned back, gaze on Pierre’s essentially lifeless body. What would he say right now? Cheer up, put a smile on her face. He’d probably grab something mundane and useless and make a big joke about it, making her and everyone else laugh and relax. Probably assure her that everything would work out just fine. Maybe sing a song and get everyone else to join in. But no. He was unconscious. He wasn’t here and now it was up to Katrina to make sure he didn’t get any more hurt. Preserve his sweet and bubbly self and make sure nothing changed him.
Suddenly, there was a deafening bang. Katrina nearly flinched out of her skin, mind yanked from her musings, before stumbling to the side as a result of the explosion shaking the ground. Her heart was pounding, eyes were wide, and her wand out before she could even look at what happened. When the debris in the air cleared, Katrina looked over to see a peer with her wand out pointing at the now gaping hole in the train. The cold from outside the train came pouring in and Katrina shuddered. This was bad. Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad. Not just the exploded train that was letting cold in. Cold that could result in hypothermia for any of the unconscious or conscious bodies. The injuries. So many people were hurt. The light came in and Katrina could see so clearly everyone in pain, people outside in pain. Katrina had the ability to bandage any wounds. Or perhaps fix something broken. Just do something to help. But nothing would be enough. Nothing would ever be enough. She was incapable of helping everyone.
Katrina felt her entire body shudder again. She shedded her outer house robe and handed it to Calanthe. “Keep Pierre as warm as you can. The last thing we need is to deal with the cold. See if you can gather other people too, keep everyone in one spot. Get us all warm and healed up. I’m going to do the best I can to gather people as well,”
Katrina would stride over to the hole in the train, previous freak out out of her mind for a moment. She would place herself right between the inside and the outside, on one side of the blown out side of the train, trying to make her voice as loud as possible, “HEY, IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, WE SHOULD STAY IN ONE PLACE! COME TO THE TRAIN, OUT OF THE COLD! PLEASE, IT’S SO MUCH BETTER IF WE STAY TOGETHER!”
Katrina would survey as much as she could. Take note of as many students as possible. It was overwhelming. Nearly everyone was fighting their own battles. But she was looking for more than that. She had the realization that the cowboys could come back. She squinted against the bright light of the sun off of the snow, looking for something, anything. A way back. A threat. Any missing link that could help or hurt them. Just something. As she waited for people to hopefully come to her call.
TLTR; Katrina fights with herself and her impending mental breakdown, give Cal her outer house robe to wrap Pierre with, call everyone back to inside the train to keep warm and stick together, look around for something that isn't there as far as she knows

[font=century gothic]INTERACTING WITH @Marshal Mozor, @Jackson Valentine, @Xailah Alptraum, @Meenauh Silmataurea | MENTIONING @Rafael D'Spacito, @Jacob Harman, @Anastasia Beckett, @Katrina Walker, @Calanthe Choi, @Piérre Marchonné, @Elena Jangleton, @Scarlett Aden, @Everly Charlton[/font]
It seemed composure and grace were on her side as Evelynn managed to lower herself into the aisle turned askew without too much difficulty. No doors gave way beneath her feet, no boomerangs attacked her unprovoked, no birds came to nestle in her hair, and no explosio—
Bombarda.
Eyes flying wide and her breath catching in her throat, Evelynn snapped her hands to either side of the aisle. A habitual reaction, and one that might have been effective in the narrower hallway had it been upright. Given it's orientation, she was lucky that one hand managed to find purchase on something—perhaps a bar along the ceiling beside her—to keep her balance as once again, an explosion went off.
"Oh good grief..." A hand withdrew to rest across her sternum, posture pivoting in search of the source and finding light and cold air filtering in threw what she naturally deduced to be a brand new hole in the center and side-floor of the train. Well. If what Beckett had said was true about there being no way out down here, there certainly was now. She only hoped that noone had been hurt in the process. There was certainly some distant screaming and crying. But whether that was new or pre-existing, she couldn't be certain.
"Are you two coming down, or not?" Evelynn craned her neck to peer up into the compartment from whence she'd just come. D'Spacito and Harman yet remained up there. She didn't wait for a reply, though. Now that she was on this level, she spotted one particular boy who was readily visible piled under some luggage, and looking more than a little worse for wear. Respectively. She hadn't seen any of the students in actually dire straights just yet. "Piérre!"
Bother to D'Spacito and Harman. They were conscious and well enough. They could fend for themselves. Besides, moments later, she picked out Harman's shouting from above. Something about someone framing Potter. Not aware of the arrival of one particular Mr. Athanatos, she entertained the notion that he had sustained a hard enough knock from the boomerang and was now accusing D'Spacito of a heinous crime in ridiculous fashion. Let the captain sort himself out of that one.
Picking her way carefully, but with as much haste as able along the hall, Evelynn hurried over to Piérre. Some amount of comfort was rendered to her with the presence of the two concerned-looking girls that hovered over him. "Walker," she called out ahead of herself as she closed the distance. "Is he alright? Is he breathing?" The girl was dragging him along the floor between a pair of doors. That seemed...ominous. Choi was there as well, however, and Evelynn spied the girl feeling for a pulse. Good. Another wave of relief came when that gesture lead to no further sign to panic. He was alive, and with her offer to stay with him, that would be enough.
Outwards, then. With Piérre tended to, her next priority was Valentine. He'd been thrown from the window. And really, if he'd been thrown from the window, who was to say that others hadn't been as well. Hurrying from the train through the conveniently arrived exit, Evelynn raised a hand against the brightness of the snow and sky as her vision adjusted. The scene that met her was one she'd rather not have. Six figures were immediately recognizable: Alptraum, Valentine, Jangleton, Mozor, Aden, and another first-year Gryffindor whose name didn't immediately jump to mind (@Everly Charlton). Blood spattered the snow. The only obvious source was from Valentine who, for some barmy reason seemed to think it a good idea to trudge through the snow despite leaving a trail of crimson in his wake. C-ABC. C-ABC.
"Valentine! What are you doing?!" Evelynn chastised him, a small note of panic in her voice. C-ABC. All of a sudden, she wished her mother was here. She'd know what to do. This was not her area of expertise. C. CPR wasn't needed (yet), but they did need to control the active bleeding. Eyes panning around her fellow prefect, she pointed a hand in his direction, a look of imploring in her gaze. "A-Alptraum! He's bleeding. Stop him! He's going to make it worse!"
She'd have done it herself, but the upperclassman was closer to him. And besides, there was another who had caught her attention more. Of the six, five were at least upright. One was not. Slipping once in the snow in her haste to trudge through it, Evelynn's hands dropped to catch herself. Slow. Slow. Step one, check the environment and ensure personal safety. She couldn't spot any other immediate dangers, but seeing as the environment was slippery and she couldn't be certain there wasn't anything hiding under the churned snow that might cause injury if she slipped, she steadied her pace. Not a task so easily done when all instincts were firing at her to hurry. Nevertheless, she found herself at Mozor's side soon enough.
C-ABC. Eyes panned over him frantically. Please, Lord, don't let him be dead. Hands shook as she reached to feel for a pulse at his neck as she'd been instructed to do. Another wave of relief eased some of her fear at feeling the vital beat (presumed from his unconscious, and not asystolic, state). No CPR, then. But there was definitely blood. In rapid assessment, she searched for the source, and in finding it would apply pressure. Why didn't they cover healing spells earlier? In this moment, transfigurations and bubbles and fire all seemed so impractical—and even dangerous—by comparison. Evelynn racked her brain for any spell that could help her in this moment. Something to stop bleeding, or to bandage, or to heal bones. The burn paste and bruise healing balms she'd learned to brew hardly seemed sufficient.
"Silmataurea!" The upperclassman had been the one to blow the hole into the side of the car to allow her escape. She'd also been one who had made her cleverness known rather early on in Evelynn's Hogwarts' career. Someone the girl looked up to. Plus, she'd been a prefect. If anyone knew what to do, it'd be her... "Meenauh!" Hopefully. "Help!"

Xxxxx xx Xxxxx“Maybe I should be asking you the same thing. After all, you came here, not me.” The reflection pouted a bit, quirking a brow childishly.
“To be fair, I asked you first.” He said in response, crossing his arms. “Not very polite to not answer questions that someone else already asked.”
“Turnabout is fair play.”
“Interrogations never concede.”
The reflection met his eyes evenly, neither of them shifting their gazes. It was uncomfortable, watching an animated version of himself looking back at him, when he knew full well that this thing should have been a reflection of some sort; incapable of movement unless he himself moved, but in the same vein, it was almost funny. They were both so stubborn.
“Let’s just say that it’s my responsibility to keep an eye on you while you’re out cold, okay?” The reflection nodded, shrugging a bit. “Someone’s gotta keep an eye on you from time to time.” A small smile.
“Why would that be necessary?”
“Have you ever actually thought about things you do before actually doing them? You’re a bit spontaneous if you didn’t notice.”
A shudder rippled through him and he shivered to himself. It had grown cold all of a sudden, and he wasn’t entirely sure why. An aching pain made itself known in his entire body, as if he had just been beaten up by someone or something.
“Don’t worry about it. They’re moving you to a safer place. They care about you, you know.” The reflection offered, nodding to him again. “And I do too. That’s why I’m giving you this wack dream. Just to keep you and them entertained until you regain consciousness.” It sighed. “At this point, I have nothing better to do but wait.”
“Moved? Unconscious?” Thoughts were beginning to jumble together and the words weren’t making sense. How had he gotten here again? Didn’t he have things he needed to do?
“Yes, you sure do. You gotta be patient though, they’re figuring it out. Don’t worry though, you’ll figure it out when you wake up.”
Be patient.
“All I have to do is wait?” Sounded too easy to be true.
Just wait.
