Animagi are a rare breed. Acquiring the ability takes years of preparation, and the trial itself is arduous, demanding absolute precision. The League of Aspirant Animagi has formed in preparation for this process. As they say: birds of a feather flock together, all cats are grey in the dark, and lone wolves don't eat. Whatever your idiom, if you are contemplating the pursuit of animal transformation, this may be the group for you.
No amount of activity will be required of League members. However, for the sake of keeping a clean roster, your character may be removed if your account has been inactive for 6+ months. All activities will be optional. These will primarily include animal study groups, open discussions, and possible field trips over the holiday.
Preparatory opportunities will include aid in gathering the required materials (harvesting Mandrake leaves, acquiring Death's-head Hawk Moths, guarding dew, etc.), as well as reminders to reiterate the required incantation. Initial transformation is sure to be painful and scary, having non-judgmental support present for the process could only help. Post-metamorphose aid will involve assisting each other in acclimating to new forms, registration, and planning parties to celebrate successful transitions!

This ability may be subject to change. Any patches released will be mentioned here to try and keep all members in the loop. Hogwarts faculty will be helping students with the transformation process, so this club isn't any "authority" on animagi, only designed to bring together and educate students that intend to possibly pursue the tranformation. Read the official ability description before deciding if Animagi is for you. This isn't a set-in-stone commitment! Part of the League's purpose is to help players + their character decide if they still want the ability by the time they are eligible for it.

From the list of Special Abilities and Magical Races:4.) Animagus
A rare, learned skill. The animagus skill is something that is learned, not given to one at birth. Information on Animagi is taught to Hogwarts students during their third year Transfiguration class, but due to the lengthy process of becoming an animagi students do not finish the process until their fifth year in Hogwarts. Once learned, the animagus must be registered with the Ministry of Magic.
Prerequisite: 5th year or later; must be full human; cannot also gain the Occlumency Ability. [ Metamorphs can become Animagi in the canon, but CANNOT on HiO for the sake of system balance ]
Effect: Allows a user to transform into a single animal of their choice. This animal will have at least one physical characteristic of the human animagus (such as a missing toe for instance, a noticeable birthmark, etc). An animagus has no control over but can communicate with like creatures. So a barn owl can communicate with a snow owl, but not with a raven. The communication is basic, the animal does not know human words unlike the animagi so often they do not know their own names or the names of their owner for instance or what has been said between two people but the communication between the animagus in animal form and a like animal can serve as an interesting RP opportunity.

When the time comes to register, this will need to be something specific, I.E. instead of saying "cat" you'll be asked to specify "Bengal/Siamese/Highlander". For the sake of this club though, you don't have to be too specific. We'll try to help you narrow it down, most OCs have years to speculate and settle on something.
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
While the structure of Animagi means that they can't predict [IC] exactly which animal they will become, it's easy enough to say that they "feel friendly and loyal like a dog" or "love swimming and hope to be something aquatic". Maybe they have a strong bond with a certain type of animal, it holds an emotional, psychological, or spiritual significance to them.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Does your character hope to have animal friends? Do they need help researching their animal? Are there specific types of events you would like to play in this group (please feel free to add any suggestions or requests here)? Just curious?

What type of animal does your character hope to become?
Avian. Likely some sort of raptor- a gyrfalcon, white-bellied sea eagle, maybe even a swallow-tailed kite!
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
Pericles has mentioned having a reoccurring dream since he was a little boy, something about flying on a pair of wings. It is a soothing dream, maybe on the uneventful side, but he always wakes from it feeling serene. He's also had a soft spot for birds of prey since his father introduced him to falconing. I debated harpy eagle, because I've adored those things ever since I first saw one in person, but they're way too big and I know Peri would prefer to be something "practical".
What do you hope to get from this group?
Plot! Adventure! Brainstorming! All the things. That's why I made it, you know.

What type of animal does your character hope to become?
Probably some sort of calico cat (I learnt there are more than many).
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
Scarlett wants to become a cat because they are small, agile and can slip around. It would be cool to have heightened senses and the ability to go almost anywhere quickly and smoothly. She wants to become an Animagus for no other reason that to have fun! Seriously, who doesn't want to be able to transform into an animal at will?
What do you hope to get from this group?
Connections to other Animagi, basically everything listed in the club and what Peri said XD

Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
Anja has always felt stifled and wishes to be free from her Pureblood mania of a family. Becoming a bird would give her an easy opportunity to escape when the time comes. Besides, she has always wanted to be able to fly like a bird, and if she actually could, it would be a dream come true. She has also always enjoyed watching things (especially people), and if she could have the literal bird's eye view, it would be amazing.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Generally everything mentioned in the introduction, and also some connections with Animagi for the future.
Also I hope Anja isn't too young for this club -- she'll have to wait a little longer than others, but hopefully you don't mind?

What type of animal does your character hope to become?
Most likely some sort of mammal that's very agile and clever, like a fox or raccoon.
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
OOC, I'm thinking raccoon or fox because they match her personality the best, what with their sneaky, somewhat mischievous nature. IC, Gia wants to become an Animagus because she feels that it'll be lots of fun, being able to transform into an animal at will. She also thinks being an Animagus will be very helpful for when she wants to play some sort of prank on someone, or simply just sneak around.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Gia heard about Animagi and became very interested in them - she joined this club so she could learn more about the whole process and such. She's almost 100% sure that she wants to be one, although it will take a ton of patience. . . which she may or may not have. . . She also just likes meeting new people, so what better way to do that than joining (another) club?

Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
Logan is known for being quiet and making herself seem small. Mice are very similar to her personality. She wonders what it would be like to be able to move around the corridors of Hogwarts while being so small, as well as being able to see what the world is like through the eyes of a small animal.
What do you hope to get from this group?

What type of animal does your character hope to become?
Some type of big, frightening, muscular apex predator.
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
Rhea hates that she is naturally small and frail. She has dealt with bullies pre-Hogwarts and although she isn't exactly weak, it has been somewhat limiting that she cannot get any sort of real reaction out of them. Being able to scare people with her mere presence instead of just amusing them with her adorable little scowl... well, if that is an option, she will certainly take it up, no matter the consequences. She craves power, basically, and wants to be a panther or something. Seriously, that would be so cool.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Rhea assumes that she will know more than anyone else about this and she wants to be of assistance to these poor pathetic souls.

What type of animal does your character hope to become?
Jack doesn't hope to become any particular animal, as he doesn't have a particular attachment to animals, has no preference of them, and believes there are pros and cons to any animal shape. However, he has always admired and loved tricksters and the Trickster archetype from stories and strives to be like them. As there are many animal tricksters (coyote, rabbit, raven, monkey, etc.), he is intrigued by them all. But almost since his first interaction with other students, he has evidently been likened to a fox (with Selim Faust nicknaming him 'Fox' and Thomas Lestrange nicknaming him 'Chatter Fox'). With his red hair, presumably a Red Fox comes to mind (which is, of course, a mammal).
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
He has presumably been likened to a fox by others due to his way of thinking, his slyness, and his supposed cunning (as well as his foolishness, boldness, impudence, and complacency at times).
As for why he wants to become an animagus, there are many reasons. A few of the most important are that he would like the chance to experience the world from a new perspective and with a new set of abilities at his disposal, he would like to broaden his horizons. Becoming an animagus itself is a challenge he would love to undertake to prove to himself he is able to become one and has endeavored to do so ever since he learned what one was. Furthermore, several people he knows are also hoping to become animagi (at least two of whom are within his own dorm) and he hopes to become animagi along with them so they can all go on adventures and explore the world through new eyes and with new bodies together.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Character development opportunities through plot, IC connections and more chances to meet others, more rp prompt ideas, and basically all the reasons that you, Pericles, as the founder also listed.

Kazuo hopes to become a melanistic (black) fox.
Why that animal?/Why do they want to become an Animagus?
The fox is Kazuo's favorite animal, partly due to its connections in Japanese mythology and partly due to it being considered a special animal to his clan, even being part of their clan symbol.
He is also often called kitsune-gao back home, meaning fox-faced, a beauty standard often applied to facial features of a narrow face, high cheekbones and slight slant of the eyes which gives a sharp piercing gaze. The overall look is a delicate, witty and mature beauty with a cold impression.
From a perspective of personality, he is clever and sneaky, but also playful and curious.
Kazuo is fascinated by shapeshifting as a magical ability and especially fond of the idea of being able to turn into a fox.
What do you hope to get from this group?
Learning and supporting each other in our shared goal, character growth, thread opportunities, animal hijinks.
