Lost in the vaults of Hogwarts?
It was the morning of the third day of school. So far the year had started of well because, as per usual, Mistie made sure to be as befriendable as possible to her fellow classmates. She didn't want anyone casting any hexes or jinxes on her at all, simply because Mistie knew she wouldn't know how to reverse it since she was only a first year. Other than the magic part, Hogwarts didn't seem too different than muggle school on the social aspect; the key was to play it safe for the first bit.
Mistie woke up rather refreshed and ready to go to class, so she cheerfully glanced over at her timetable on her nightstand as she gathered her general items for class.
"Hrm, Potions. Excellent," she murmured, grabbing her book for that particular class. After making sure her area of the dorm was plausibly neat, young Mistie made her way out of the Gryffindor Tower.
She snuck a quick breakfast from the Great Hall and quickly embarked on her hopefully swift journey to the dungeons. Mistie wasn't fond of dark, creepy places, as most would expect from anyone in general, so she wanted to be safe away in her class as soon as possible. Luckily she knew her way because of a valuable encounter with a more experienced student.
She was turning yet another corner, definitely taking her sweet time to get to class, when Mistie noticed a small figure on the ground. She froze, wondering if she had somehow came across a dangerous being in the dungeons just as she had feared when she realized that they were dressed in Ravenclaw. She let out an inaudible sigh and then studied the pink haired person from afar.
"Um, excuse me," Mistie called out, tentatively making her way over to the student. It was most definitely a female, by the sounds of their high-pitched blubbering. Mistie placed a hand on their shoulder, immediately seeing the tears running down their face when she came into angle.
She pursed her lips. "'Ey, what's up with you? What happened—"
The Ravenclaw snapped around, oogling at Mistie with her wide-eyed icy blue eyes. "Don't hurt me! I can't take it anymore!"
Mistie shot up, backing away with her hands up. "Whoa, whoa, I was just checking on you, calm down, sheesh! You're on the floor, for heck's sake." The Gryffindor narrowed her hesistantly eyes at her. "Are you deranged? Or are you just some ghost, because you feel so real, the heck—?"

Lost in the vaults of Hogwarts?
Mistie only felt half-bad because this girl was acting really strange, but school stress really got to some people already, even on the third day. The Ravenclaw, who was really starting to act deranged, went off rambling for a good few minutes but luckily Mistie, gifted with a good ear, got the gist of what had happened.
This girl had been trying to get to her class—no doubt Potions, like in the Gryffindor's case—but she ended up very lost in the dungeons, and being in the dungeons in the general was bad enough without being lost in them. She shared her similar disgust in the fact that rats, mice, and must lived down here, along with the many ghosts and eerie noises.
She then asked Mistie if she could show her the way back, which the Gryffindor was more than glad enough to do, because even though the Ravenclaw claimed she didn't have to put much effort into her studies like most students, she was rather clumsy, apparently, especially since she got so very lost in the dungeons. I mean, I'm pretty sure class is right around the corner..., thought Mistie, but she wasn't entirely that sure anymore given the current situation with this pink-haired girl.
"Ok, maybe I should introduce myself first. I'm Ginger Crowdy - call me Gin, Ginny or Ginger. I don't care—I'm 12 years old and a Ravenclaw."
Mistie grinned, parting her lips to introduce her own self but Ginger kept going, talking about something to do with something called 'the Dee' and having no friends. At that point the young Gryffindor was getting a little frustrated, especially since they were trying to get to class and all, so when the girl paused for breath she immediately started trying to solve the problem.
"Okay, I'm Mistie, alright?" She stood up and returned the girl's smile before continuing. "First-year, Gryffindor— whatever. Right now all I—and you, too, apparently—care about is getting to class, or at least out of the dungeons, so let's do than, shall we? 'Cause I'm definitely not creeped out by this place or anything."
Her eyes darted around the corridor uneasily. Mistie tried to think of what was the next path towards Potions but for some odd reason everything looked relatively the same. She sighed deeply.
"I can definitely show you the way. Let's just go back the way I came. We're probably gonna' be twenty or thirty minutes late but at least...what the heck."
Mistie had been leading the way, but now she wasn't sure which was that. Everything looked the same, dark, damp, and dingey. And fear had already settle a ways inside her so she wasn't entirely thinking straight at the moment. Ginger wasn't gonna be of any help, either, because she was even more lost than Mistie.
"Um," she began, chewing nervously on the inside of her cheek. "I'm not really sure...I thought this was the way but...er." The Gryffindor began to rub her chin as if in deep thought when she was actually in deep worry, rather. But then she stop abruptly, thinking of something.
"Hey! Even though you've gotten us even loster, maybe you have some tricks or techniques in the big Eagle brain of yours to get out of mazes. I'm sure I can think of something but Ravenclaws can be much quicker. Occasionally. I'll think of something else, too."

Mistie gawked at this girl. Is she kidding, she wondered. They were genuinely in a bad situation and she wanted to go on about how Mistie's blunt sarcasm got to her, without mentioning the sarcasm. And she hadn't even been making fun of the Ravenclaws, so what the hell was even going on? The dungeons truly succeeded at causing distress.
"Look—I never said you were stupid, but you sure are acting rather silly. Do you remember where we are? Right, the dungeons, and we really don't have time to be arguing about those dumb things. I was mocking you, but it was meant as a joke. I don't understand why you took it that seriously, geez. I actually think Ravenclaws are pretty clever, like you claim you are...so, uh, that's why I was asking you for advice, duh."
Sighed heavily and looked around once more but to no avail. She really needed to figure out what they were going to do.
She turned back to the girl, narrowing her eyes. "And what do you mean by half-normal, what does that even mean?" Does she somehow know that I'm a Half-Blood? How—I hardly know her! Maybe I'm popular or something...how unfortunate.
Mistie rubbed the bridge of her nose, trying to calm down and think. "Okay, look: I'm helping you out because it's the right thing to do, regardless the level of someone's mental competence. You really need to learn to watch it around me. I hate people who assume things, especially when it comes to my opinions. If I haven't called you stupid or whatever than assume that's what I think. But I surely think you're acting pretty foolish right now for a Ravenclaw." The Gryffindor rolled her eyes. "Now, can you please help me get us out of here, or would you rather stay here and run your mouth for the rest of your life in the dungeons?"
She was quite obviously irritated, with Ginger and the entire situation. Boy, were they gonna' get it from whoever found them after all this.

Thankfully the Ravenclaw lost the attitude because in trying situations such as this Mistie wouldn't hesitate to lash out with something offensive. They didn't have any time at all for whatever that conversation could've turned into. If someone had found them, say a professor or prefect, it probably would've looked like they were messing around in the corridors, on the verge of fighting, and the Gryffindor didn't want to have to explain to her parents why she'd already gotten in trouble in her first week of school.
"And by semi-normal, I meant if you have even the slightest bit of brain in your head - you know? But I take that back."
Mistie frowned but didn't say anything. Ginger seemed genuine enough about her apology. That was enough for her.
"I actually thought of another way we could get out of here," she continued, uncertainly. "If I wanted to be funny right now, I'd say we should try ultrasonic noises—always singing in E flat major."
Sbe laughed inanely, but Mistie was clearly lost on the joke. But given her house she figured it was either some useful knowledge she didn't know about, or that it was some inside joke she just didn't get. The Gryffindor really hoped it was then former, for Ginger's sake.
Fortunately she was serious, because the pink-haired girl went on about how she wasn't sure if it were the right time to do so. Mistie didn't know much about ultrasonic outside of certain marine animals using it, which is why she was confused about why it was relevant here. Maybe the echoes? Mistie considered thinking about it more but Ginger basically confessed she had nothing besides looking for a path that was familiar.
"Aye, that's what I tried but it's like my brain just went blank, I don't really remember which way I came from...And I wouldn't know anything from heart, it's only my third day in this castle."
She folded her arms and stared off into the distance, trying to think of something. Mistie wasn't sure if the dungeons were even made to be like a maze. Perhaps it just seemed like one because they were young and small, and because the place was grim and similar. Everywhere look very much the same, at least to them, given that they couldn't tell which way was where. But if this place was indeed a maze, there was one trick Mistie knew to eventually get out of any labyrinth.
She turned to her new companion. "I heard that as long as you keep following the left wall of a maze, you will eventually find the exit...problem is, we have no idea how large this place is, and it's magical, so what if we get even deeper, and loster?" That thought made her shiver noticeably. Potentially starving to death was not on Mistie's agenda. She loved food dearly, and rats wouldn't suffice. "My other idea is that we try to go back the way I came from and whistle, or just make some loud, obnoxious noises like that ultrasonic you were going on about earlier so someone can find us and tell us to shut up. Honestly I don't think Potions is too far...maybe."

Lost in the vaults of Hogwarts?
"Oh, Mistie, you misunderstood my suggestion," said Ginger. "I didn't mean a path in Hogwarts that you know by heart, but any path - it could be the way to the loo at night at your house or your old school path, do you understand?"
"Er, not really," replied Mistie, appearing mildly confused. But the expression was soon replaced with another as she found hope for leaving this dingy place. She wondered briefly if the Ravenclaw had been going on about something useful towards leaving the dungeons but wasn't sure, and she was too focused on her own ideas to dwaddle on any other, especially since Ginger showed interest in them.
Ginger echoed the same thought in her head about it being extra cold in her, but that was probably typical for the dungeons. Despite her thick red vest and black robes Mistie still felt the coldnesd seep into her skin, causing her to shiver visible every now and then. Luckily she had thick skin and could bear it fairly well.
She mirrored the girl's crooked smile, but widened it. "Aye, I'm really grateful that I'm stuck with you rather than someone obnoxious and whiney. What better luck than to be followed around by a blabbering baby?" She smirked, saying behind her hand, "Gryffindors' can also be big babies sometimes, ha ha. That's just top secret information I'm telling you."
She cleared her throat. "So do you want to do both, whistle and follow left? Hopefully I start to know the way as we go further so we don't have to shout for long. We'll probably get detention for making a ruckus, but it's kind of worth it..."
