A cute couple?
Abel's mouth created a small 'o', impressed by the design of the ballroom. It displayed fierce yet elegant grandiose. The absolute architecture and cost of this room alone surpassed any works made by the Romans. After a moment of stunned silence, his eyes began searching for the food table. He was considerably hungry after accidentally skipping lunch. "Do you want to get some food first?" After she nodded he brought her to the table, letting go of her hand and sitting down.
He ate through his plate of meat and other delicacies whose names he didn't bother to remember quite quickly. After wiping his mouth clean he turned towards the girl he came with and asked her something he'd been pondering since earlier. "I've been wondering. Why did you ask me to the ball? You said you liked me, but we've barely talked to each other before now."
Abel didn't think he was an ideal partner for anyone. He knew how straightforward he was, and his workaholic issues were well known to other Ravenclaws. He considered both to be problems that would interfere with most relationships. As for his appearance, he was short and his ears were a bit bigger than most. He didn't find much appealing about himself besides his intelligence, which shouldn't matter to another Ravenclaw.

Abel watched her as she spoke, not touching the meat after seeing her reaction to it."I have - how shall I say it - taken a great liking to you. I already noticed you when we got sorted. Unfortunately, you never noticed me, although we have fought against each other several times for the job of best in class. I don't know exactly what I find so great about you - it's not just your ears, I like your kind, you know? Probably not. But if I'm going to be completely honest: I've never been into guys with black hair, but it suits you. You look really meeega cute, you know?" He nodded, turning to look away for a moment as he felt his face get hot. He was bothered his face wasn't listening to him, acting against his will. Damnit, she's cute. He also didn't understand what she meant by his kind. Was she talking about East Asians? Mixed? Or just nerds in general.
"But maybe we should tell each other more about each other. I may seem like a total dork to you so far, which I actually am, but only half. Okay, I'm the biggest klutz ever. Still." He nodded to that. No matter what she did, his first impression of her will always be that of a silly girl. "By the way, where did the name Abelgas come from? Can I call you Abel too? You can call me Ginger, Ginny or Gin, I don't care. Take your pick!" He shrugged at her question. "Well Gin, I think it's from the Book of Genesis. It says Abel was the first man to be murdered."
"Well, I can't dance, but I'll manage a few clever steps. What do you think?" He thought about it for a moment, pursing his lips as he tried to decide whether he should save his dignity or not. He was already here, so he might as well go all in. "Sure, but I have no experience in dancing whatsoever. You'll have to lead me," he said with a winsome grin.

Abel was startled when she suddenly dragged him to the dance floor. He wasn't expecting her to dance right now, maybe in 10 or so minutes. Seeing her observe the older students dance made him do the same, learning nothing but where to place his hands. He then took a deep breathe when they got into position.
Nothing before in his life had confused him so much as dancing did. It was difficult putting his feet somewhere without kicking his partner, her reaction simply laughing. He grits his teeth every time he kicked her, forcing himself to predict where to go before slowly understanding the rhythm. Their little dance was getting smoother, his partner noticeably getting more confidant as they went on. He was beginning to enjoy this as a soft smile grew on his face. His body played along every time she turned and such, letting her lead him as if she were moving water. And then she kissed him.
Time stood still, his heart beating in his eardrums as he stared at her, his face becoming one of bewilderment while his brain ran at the speed of light to process this. Then, for the first time in years, a genuine smile grew on his face. He didn't say anything about it though. Instead, he acknowledged her affection by giving her a peck on her cheek.

Abel listened attentively to her, engrossed in all the things she's done and mentally jotting down all her interests for the future. Should they have another date, he might learn how to animate objects and play several instruments at once for her. He tensed his body when she leaned against him before loosening up and resting his head on hers, finding that her hair smelled nicer than he expected. Several times did he feel the urge to wrap his arms around her and keep her close like a huge teddy bear. He lightly bit his lower lip when she asked him to talk about himself. It was guaranteed to be more boring than her story, but he told her anyway.
"I didn't really do much of anything. I spent a good part of my life studying for school, barely sleeping, and trying to be the best in everything. Well, everything besides gym. I've been sent to the hospital once or twice after collapsing from overworking myself but, it gave me the results I wanted so I kept doing that. The only times I went outside was when I was forced to, and even that was rare. Sorry if I'm kind of boring." He gave a crooked smile.

"I bet you're a half-blood." Abel furrowed his eyebrows when he heard that. "I'm not sure on that one. My father left us when we arrived here in Europe, leaving me and my mother to fend for ourselves in a foreign country. My mother is 100 percent muggle, so he would have to be a wizard for me to be half-blood. Try again." He made sure his face remained stoic when he talked about the man that fathered and deserted him. While the very thought of him put Abel in a bad mood, he made sure not to ruin the cozy atmosphere that had formed around them while they spoke. He wished they were back in their common room, relaxing on one of the sofa's in front of the hearth while they cuddled. He had assumed coming to Hogwarts would be the same as his old school. Constant studying and stress from mountains of homework due in so little time except with some pizazz called magic. But no, he found himself quite relaxed as most of the pressure weighing him down disappeared. As long as he got to continue seeing Gin for the rest of the year he would pass with flying colors. The fact there would also be 6 more years of this pleased him greatly, a soft smile forming at the thought His face was not used to all the smiling he's done today and would absolutely ache later.

Abel gave a reassuring smile when she apologized. He didn't mind that she asked the question, having gotten over it a while ago. "Okay, another question: I bet you want to cuddle me." His heart almost exploded when she rested her head on his shoulder and played with his hair. He was fucking dying. Her playful smile and affectionate gaze were giving him severe type 2 diabetes. "Yeah, you got me," he admitted with a chuckle. "My turn." He had the chance for playful revenge and something that would bump their relationship to the next level. He decided to try something from one of the romance novels he read. "I bet you want to..." His face got closer to hers with every word. "..head back to our dorm and cuddle on the sofa, where it's warm and peaceful." His face was almost touching hers while chestnut eyes stared directly into her sparkling blue pools of grace. Was it appropriate what he was about to do? Probably not. Did he care? Not at the moment, no. As if on instinct, he placed a hand on the back of her head. His head was buzzing with excitement while his stomach twisted into a knot, the smell of her bewitching him as he got even closer, his lips touching hers.

Abel's lips left hers. He was breathing heavily, shocked he just did that. He wasn't thinking when he decided to just kiss her on their first date. Well, not thinking straight. He'd been drunk on love. His entire perception of love suddenly shifted violently, realizing the dangers of this powerful emotion. He thought his mother would kill him if she knew what he had done. He stood up with Gin after his hand grabbed hers when he felt it moving. "Then...shall we go?" He nodded, deciding to be the one to lead them back to their dorms.
He was also thinking about the possibilities of what Love could do. He knew emotions, raw powerful emotions, could incite power magic. He'd done it himself when he set his room on fire out of frustration. What were the limits that Love could do, though? At the final battle between Hogwarts and Harry Potter, records had stated the chosen one survived because of love. If that was true, that Love blocked one of the deadliest spells in the world, then there's a possibility it could be able to shape the very fabrics of reality. A smirk formed on his face when he realized this. He must test this someday.
