A hand flashing out to hold on to the older girl's arm. The scent of grass tickling her nose. Warm brown meeting foggy grey.

Callista let go of the third year [Annie Morgan]'s arm as she pulled herself up. Annie's blush was matched by the first year's own, pink flooding her cheeks. "Sorry- are you okay?" As soon as the older girl had slipped, her hand had grabbed on by instinct.

She attempted to cast her eyes about in search of a different place to look at, and met the eyes of another girl [Everly Charlton], who was heading towards them. She greeted the two Hufflepuffs quite cheerfully, and Callista offered her a small smile, still refusing to look at Annie - even though she knew the third-year wouldn't be able to see her blush.

At her question, Callista began, "Hi, I'm-" However, she was cut off by the arrival of another girl - a curly haired girl about her age [Elizabeth Corrids]. The poor girl looked quite distressed. Callista assured her gently, "That's alright. You're just in time."

As more and more people filed in, Callista scanned the rather large group of students uncomfortably. Yes, she had grown more used to be around large groups of people, but that didn't mean she had to like it. Some people she recognized - faces from her classes or from her dormitory, but most were strangers. A familiar voice spoke up near the girls' position, and she turned to find Lucia [Fox].

"Hi Lucia and Elizabeth, I'm Callista," she said - mostly to the other two first years. Lucia technically already knew her name; they'd met before. As the first-year organizer [Michael Miller] announced the teams, she guessed that the brown-haired girl who had approached them was Everly.

"... levitate a teammate over the lake..."

A queer sound slipped through Callista's mouth, as if she had just choked. The "truth" part, along with Lucia's indignant correction, buzzed in the background. Even the bubbles, pretty as they were, went ignored. Her eyes were stuck on the Great Lake, shimmering innocently, as the color in her face slowly drained away. No way.

She only snapped out of her daze when Annie spoke. Blinking, Callista turned her head. Did they say something? Her brain was very slowly sorting through the background chatter that she had almost completely missed. Something about a secret and flying? This was very slowly becoming a nightmare.

"I can do the Levitation Charm too. Lucia can probably cast it better than me, though." It wasn't a terribly difficult spell, after all. And performing the spell was infinitely better than... the other option. "Scared" didn't describe the feeling well enough. "I'm alright with doing the Dare." She didn't have a secret anyway - that was the Truth option, wasn't it?

Attempting to focus on the task ahead of them, she ignored the lake. Instead, she wondered, "Are we allowed to have multiple people casting at the same time?" If they were allowed to do so, it would be a lot easier. Then they could have a backup in case one of the casters faltered. Although that might make the Dare a little too easy...

"I don't really have a preference." A half-truth. She really had no preference for other people's positions... but for her own? There was no way she was going to levitate. "I don't think it would matter how heavy the levitator is. But I think we should have the caster be someone that has experience." Scanning their group of mainly first-years, she added, "I agree with Annie for nominating Lucia as castor."

Not long after, a first-year boy [Simon Kincaid] came up and revealed his secret. She was surprised by how much she could relate, and the boy was rewarded with one of her small smiles before he slipped back to his own group. As Elisabeth volunteered, Callista sent her a strange look. The red head looked as if she was speaking to the boy from before. With an inward shrug, she fingered her mahogany wand mindlessly. "Who's going to be levitated?"

As the teams where said out, Stanley could not hear any particularly familiar names. It seemed he was alone for the time being. He hoped that they weren't going to hate him. He walked over slowly and titled his head down slightly not wanting to bring the attention to him straight away. If he was going to do this he was going to do it quietly.

The other participants came over and one of them greeted him. No one said something for a while before the boy who had introduced himself as Mathias Pride walked away saying he was a party of one. Just because they were all shy did not meant they were not going to help him. Stanley grimaced at the boy and stuck his tongue out lightly at the boy because of his ignorance and lack of patience.

Looking over to the other people, he breather out quietly, "Hello, I'm Stanley Buttons. I don't know the levitation spell but I could be the one who is levitated." The corner of his mouth twitched before he went back to hugging himself scared of what the other people were going to think about him. “I suggest we start doing it soon before the next one comes along.” His soft voice was emitted from his mouth as he nodded his head rapidly while eyeing the other teams attentively. Stanley didn't even want to be there but he was there already and something should be done before he should just leave.

Mic frowned as he watched the group fall apart, before walking to Stanley. "You can pick any group you want, whether they are done or not. You don't have to do anything this round if you don't want" He said softly. He felt bad for the groups he choose. Had he known many wouldn't show up, he would have made backup teams. He smiled at Stanley, "or you could judge with me, get to set fires randomly" he joked.

He looked around, and pointed at Henry and Taylor's team. "They look friendly. Might be glad for more help"

So far in the round, one team was done or almost done, another still deciding on what to do. He felt that his dare and truth was good, and his worry about its funness, or the worry about whether it could be done, was gone just as fast as it came.

Doing this was fun for him and he felt like he'd have fun doing it again in the future, maybe the proffessors could get involved too? Oh well, one day he'd plan it for longterm, today, though, just making it last will be the real problem to solve. He hoped it was solveable.

Jess moved in a bit closer to the larger group as the boy in charge of the whole thing, whose name she didn't know yet, welcomed them all and starting calling off names to sort them into groups. The actual challenges of the game hadn't even started yet, but Jess felt the now familiar feeling of unease settle in her stomach as more and more names were called out, none her own. Finally, though, Jess heard the boy say her name, and she started to move a bit closer to her group. So far, she could only see two of her group members assembled, who she assumed based on names were Stanley and Mathias.

The Hufflepuff stopped in her path momentarily as the boy continued talking, revealing what the first truth and dare of the game would be. Oh no. Looking over at the Great Lake, Jess visibly shuddered, her mind going back to her unfortunate afternoon with Rhea. Yeah, she would not be doing anything even remotely related to being near, much less getting levitated or levitating someone else over the water's murky depths. Really, this dare seemed much too dangerous for anyone to do, but the girl didn't doubt that at least a couple of kids would try to prove what they considered to be their bravery by doing it. It was almost as if the Hogwarts events were begging for chaos at this point. Hopefully, though, there would be strength in numbers, and the sheer size of the group would be enough to prevent anything truly damaging from occurring.

The only viable option for Jess, then, was the truth, but that also posed several problems. To start with, the Hufflepuff couldn't actually think of any especially pressing secrets to share with a member, or, really, several members, of another group. Generally, the girl had always tried not to keep any secrets growing up, as she valued honesty and fairness very highly and keeping something from someone felt like lying. That excluded the fact that she was a witch, of course, as telling any of her childhood friends about that was simply out of the question. Other than that, though, the only secrets Jess had ever really had were when she had had crushed on her friends, though she couldn't think of any boys that she especially liked now. Plus, she doubted that sharing her "deepest secret," if she could even figure out what it was, would be all too pleasant.

The girl was brought back from her own thoughts, however, as the boy hosting the event shared his own secret with them. Already used to the idea of Miranda being a werewolf, Jess wasn't as rattled at the boy's news as she once would have been. It was still a bit shocking, however, to see, or, rather, hear, him openly admit it to a large group of students, many of whom she guessed he had never spoken to or even seen before. Well, she resolved as she watched him, if this boy could share a secret of this magnitude, then she could share one of her own.

Ready to tell the rest of her teammates that she planned to go along with the truth portion of the game for now, Jess headed over to the two boys she had noticed earlier. Before she could start talking to them, though, she heard one of them say his farewell and start to walk back towards the castle. Hello? Why was one of her team members leaving already? And with two of the people in her group still nowhere to be seen, did this mean that Jess would be expected to only work with the one remaining boy? That sucked.

As she drew closer, however, the girl realized that she might not be the only one worrying about this new update in events. As she heard the host softly tell her remaining teammate he could join any team he wanted, she hurried over, eager to keep her last hope at having a team from abandoning her. "Hang on! I'm still on your team; wanna keep working together? I don't know how to do the levitating spell, though, and I'm definitely not taking the risk of being dangled over the lake myself, so I suggest we both just pick a secret to tell someone and get it over with... I guess I'll go first." Taking a deep breath, Jess whirled around and forced herself over to where she could see Annie and Callista standing alongside the rest of their teammates.

"Um, hi, Callista, Annie, everyone else. I'm Jess, and I don't really have any huge secrets to share, so I figure I can just tell you about the thoughts I try to hide from and hope that that counts. So... yeah, sometimes I worry that I'm not really meant to be a witch, or that I'm useless because I can't really help anyone. Okay, bye." Not willing to stand around and wait for the group's inevitable reactions, the girl spun on her heel and practically ran back to Stanley and the host. Now, to hope that her sole remaining teammate didn't leave her to brave the horror of the game alone.

Since they had been put in a group together, Rose noticed Cassandra and Earl had been a little quiet, so Rose thought maybe they were still trying to decide what they wanted to do. May, who was supposed to be in their group, hadn't shown up to the Truth or Dare, so Rose wondered why she had signed up if she wasn't coming. Oh, well, it could have been a scheduling issue, or she could have forgotten. Rose hoped she would come, as it might make this all more interesting and fun with one more person, but if she didn't, they could manage with one less person.

Scarlett spoke up, and Rose turned her attention to her fellow redhead. Rose really respected Scarlett and anything and everything she would have to say was important and valid in Rose's eyes. "I bet you guys are great spellcasters anyway," Rose said in the direction of Scarlett and Cash, as Scarlett seemed to suggest that they weren't as good at spells since they were Quidditch players.

Also possibly implying that Rose was better at them with spells. Which she was. Rose's spells usually worked more often than not (maybe the exception was dueling), and had a more effective outcome than some others' spells did. But it wasn't like she really believed it, anyway, so Scarlett's maybe hint at Rose being the best spellcaster in the group, or at least of the three second years, and the most qualified to do the spell made Rose a little surprised. Or maybe she was just imagining it, and Scarlett hadn't meant to say that at all.

"So maybe I levitate Earl and Scarlett and Cash can sing the ABC's as fast as they can?" she said, smiling. It sounded like a good plan. "What do you think?"
