Today was a special day, a chance for a bit of romance or platonic love. It was an opportunity to have a little bit of fun and make room for love in your heart, whether that was a new blossoming relationship or to help grow an old one. Love was a powerful emotion, capable of achieving great things. This event was the push that was required to help those in need to make that first step, to find a bond that they could treasure for the years to come. Maybe people will find their childhood sweethearts here or build the foundation of a bond that only grows.

Perhaps that was too optimistic. Nonetheless, this was a way to escape from the drama and angst, a chance to just have a little bit of fun and have a cute date. And what better location to spend with someone than under the stars?

Entering the Astronomy Tower, students would see the familiar staircase decorated with floating paper hearts that gently spun around in the sky. Following the trail of hearts up the staircase, they would enter into the Astronomy classroom at the top of the tower. The entrance to the classroom had a large arch made from paper flower roses in different shades of pink and red around it.

Walking through the arch, people will be greeted by a very different decor than they were likely used to seeing at the astronomy tower. Heart garlands were draped on the edge of the tables and paper hearts floating in the room randomly. There was a sign on the side, saying "please take one". In smaller text, it also said, "You may take up to one of each if you would like".

By the sign, people would see three main options. The first was a vase of pink roses. If anyone looked carefully, they would notice that the thorns had been cut off from the stems. Taking out a rose, they would notice a small label attached to the stem. The second choice was little bags of sweets. A transparent bag holding a small variety of heart-shaped chocolates or sweets. There was ribbon around the bag that tied it shut and a blank label on each bag. The third choice was an eggless cupcake, with glitter icing on it that looked like a rose. On the cupcake case, there was a blank sticker label here too.

When someone took one of the items (or multiple), the blank labels would start to change immediately. They would see words start to form on them. It would give them a number. That was it. A number.

Looking up, they would likely spot a room full of picnic blankets scattered around the area. There was also a foil heart-shaped balloon that came in white, pink or red. They had a small weight on the bottom of the strings to prevent them from flying away. On either side of the balloon itself, they would see a number.

It was clear that they were supposed to go to the respective number to meet their blind date.

On finding their matching balloon, they would look down to see there were two cushions on top of the picnic blanket, with a hamper in the middle. The hamper itself contained a variety of snacks: biscuits, chocolates, scones, cream, jam and cake. There were also some small sandwiches, in case anyone wanted something a little heavier. For drinks, there was a small teapot of hot water that was magically kept hot in the hamper. They would find a small selection of teas, as well as hot chocolate powder in the hamper too - with sugar and milk. For those who preferred a cold drink, there was also water and juice available.

It was definitely on the colder side up in the tower. Being wrapped up in a coat and some gloves would probably be ideal. Hats and scarves would be a decent idea too. After all, the sun had set and it was the middle of winter. However, the sheer number of people around as well as the fireplaces helped to add a bit of warmth to it that prevented it from being freezing. People would not need to wear snow boats as it was not freezing by any means. However, it was definitely suggested that people dressed up warm for the evening.

Sitting down and looking up, they would see the beautiful starry night sky showering over them. Anyone who was good at Astronomy might be able to name some of what they see.

Jerking her head up, Bailey realized that she had fallen asleep reading. " Oh no!" She cried "I must have fallen asleep reading. I have to go get ready for the Valentines date tonight!" Bustling to the common room, she pulled out the blue dress her mother had sent with her for formal occasions. Smiling at the memory of trying on dresses with her mother, Bailey quickly put the dress on, and then braided her hair, which her mother had taught her to do.. As she laced up her gladiator sandals and clipped her cloak on, she wondered, Who will be my valentine? Realizing how ridiculous that sounded, she muttered, "Of course! I start rhyming the moment I get even a little nervous. Great. I'm going to make a fool of myself tonight. I hope my partner doesn't mind."

Walking up the steps of the Astronomy Tower, a place Bailey doesn't normally go, she started second guessing herself. "Quit it Bailey" She said to herself. "You'll be fine." With this, she pushed the door open, and gasped. The tower was decked out. The person who had decorated had done a phenomenal job. It was breathtaking!

Wandering over to a table she saw a sign that said, "Please Take One." Next to the sign, she saw thorn-less pink roses, several small bags of chocolates and sweets, and a platter of what appeared to be roses on cup cakes. "No!" Bailey realized with a start. They were cupcakes decorated to look like roses. "And they look so lifelike!" She quietly exclaimed picking one of the cupcakes up, she saw that on the black tag a number was appearing. "Three..." She mused "my lucky number. Perhaps tonight won't bee so bad after all."

Looking around, she saw picnic blankets and baskets with a balloon floating above the setting. Upon further inspection, she realized that each balloon had a number on it. Walking over to the on with the "Three" on it, she settled down with her cupcake, which she proceeded to nibble on, quite daintily for her, and she pulled out one of her favorite muggle books. "The Princess' Bride" by William Goldman. As she waited for her valentine to appear, she settled down to read.

Then a gasp startled her. It was a ...

He was doing it for Alan. That's all Scott could really think as he made his way up the stairs through the progressively colder and colder air: he was doing it for Alan. Because he remembered very well what being a Prefect was like, didn't he? The pressure you could feel to partake in as much as possible, and engage others in everything as well. It could get stressful at times, estpecially when the "everything" turned out to be something so... unfamiliar. So it was therefor sympathy, he decided, with his old dormmate that had brought Scott to sign that peculiar note, answer those foreign questions as best he could, and venture toward the astronomy tower so late at night, instead of turning in. For Alan.

Except now he couldn't even see his friend. The tower was positively bustling with people he both knew and not, excited ones as well as anxious ones, and the structure of the evening soon revealed itself. It dawned on Scott that he might not be able to spend even a second with the Gryffindor boy, and he caught himself wishing he hadn't gone here at all. That surprised him, though. It wasn't very much like Scott to wish to leave an event such as this one, and so it was almost out of defiance with himself that he pointedly picked up a shimmering cupcake from the busiest corner of the stage.

Scott stared challengingly at the cupcake for a moment. Three. Good number. Probably a good evening then, too, which was only further proof that he really was being silly. There'd never been anything he liked more than talking to new people! Why should the date on a calendar even factor into this truth? Why should a color scheme?

"No problem..." He said to himself, before marching decisively toward the blanker beneath the number he'd gotten. "No problem at all."

The first thing Scott noticed once he got close enough was the apparent age of the girl already sitting there, and the realisation warranted a wave of relief to shower over him at once. He'd always liked first years, hadn't he? Something familiar about talking to someone whose situation you can often remember yourself. Though the second thing he noticed was the dress she was in, and this is what lead to the first thing he said:

"Aren't you freezing? I've practically got my whole wardrobe on and I still can't feel my nose."

It wasn't true, of course, the wardrobe part, but the sentiment remained. He smiled at her, and dropped down onto the blanket as well with this woollen overcoat flying about him shortly.

"Though I suppose I might just be a weakling. Scott Alexander, hello!"

Gloved hand outstretched.

Looking up from The Princess Bride Bailey saw a handsome boy sitting next to her. She tried to recall what he had said.... Something about the cold? And maybe being a weakling? Oh, and also his name....... Scott Alexander is what he had said.

"Oh no! I'm not even cold. I went to summer camp a few summers back in Maine, and the lake was FREEZING, every single day!" Bailey said. Shaking Scotts hand, she said, "My names Bailey, by the way. Bailey Glade, a Ravenclaw first year. And I doubt that your a weakling. Don't doubt yourself like that."

Bailey then asked, "Do you play any sports? " Without waiting for a response, she again spoke. "I did before coming here. I had Takewondo four days a week, but it was totally worth it... I wish there were Takewondo classes here. Maybe I should teach some.... Would you be interested in trying out?

Taking another bite of her cupcake, she looked down at her book mournfully. Now I must socialize Bailey thought. But that's why I'm here she though, inwardly wondering why she had signed herself up for this party.

Realizing that she had been in lalalland as her mother would say, she looked up again at Scott. "You know, " Bailey mused, "You have a very pretty name. And it would look good on the front of a book, in my opinion. That is, if you don't mind being judged by a girl, like some do. " Bailey broke off. "But truly, do you care at all about writing? You look like a lad that has a good head upon his solders, and you sound smart too. What house are you in?"

It was Griseldis's first time having a Valentines' Dinner in Hogwarts but what really intrigued her the most wasn't just the food and desserts, it was that location. She never really thought that they would allow the students to have a grand meal up on the Astronomy Tower. Although, it was indeed an excellent place for celebrating Valentines. Being under the starry sky could be quite romantic but she wasn't really the type who would be interested in romance like most of the other girls from her class. All she ever wanted to do was to achieve her dream to become the best Auror in the wizarding world just like her favorite childhood hero, Harry Potter. People might found it strange. Since she wasn't into romance then why sign up to participate in this event? The answer to that was...she wanted to use this opportunity to eat at the Astronomy Tower and perhaps, get to know more new people.

The night during February could still be very chilly so she needed to wear a crimson red robe in order to keep herself warm. It wouldn't be fun if she catches a cold. Underneath the robe, Griseldis wore a dress that was gifted by her Muggle cousin who worked as a Chinese fashion designer in Shanghai. The red dress was made in Chinese traditional design and the fabric was made of silk which felt very smooth and comfortable while wearing it.

When Griseldis walked through the arch, she was surprised to see how different the inside of the Astronomy Tower looked now. Overall was decorated with Heart garlands draping on the edge of the tables and paper hearts floating around in the room. She noticed there was a sign on the side, saying "please take one" and in the smaller text, it also said, "You may take up to one of each if you would like". Following the given signs, she saw there were three options to pick and she set her eyes on a transparent bag that was holding a small variety of heart-shaped chocolates. Chocolate always got her attention first. The blank label suddenly changed its form into a certain number, "Three?", confused about the number that appeared, not knowing what it really meant until she saw the heart-shaped balloons and each of them has a number on them. Ah, I see...

Once she found the one that has the number three on it, she saw there were two students already arrived at the table. A tall blond boy she knew who was once a former Prefect and there was a blond girl who obviously looked younger than them. Griseldis first went to greet the older Gryffindor, "Hi, Scott. Long time no see, how are you doing? Didn't expect to see you here. Then she turned to greet the young girl with a friendly smile, "And hi there, I'm Griseldis Edelhardt. You can just call me Gris if you like. Third-year Gryffindor and a Prefect."

Looking up at the new girl, Bailey spoke “Oh.... Hi! My name is Bailey. Bailey Glade. I am a Ravenclaw first year. I really like your dress.”

Looking around, Bailey again spoke, this time mentioning the sky around them. “I really like the stars. They always make me feel safe. My favorite constellations is probably Orion.”

Thinking she might have said too much, she looked down again. Shifting her lap her book fell out. Looking up again after storing her book, she saw the girl - ‘Gris’ Bailey thought “is what she said”

Starting the conversation up again, she again mentioned the stars, but in another way. “I am so glad they let us have this dinner here. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been in here for another like two years. The astronomy tower is so cool, and the people who decorated the tower did a phenomenal job- don’t you think so?”

Once again glancing around for a topic to talk about, Bailey spied a cake in the basket. Deciding to mention it, Bailey spoke.

“ That cake looks awesome. I wonder if a human made it, or if one of the house elves made it.... Does hogwarts still have house elves?”

Trailing off, Bailey was lost in her thoughts until someone spoke, waking her from her trance.
