Little Something
It was around late afternoon (Saturday: December 5, 2020) when Andrew returned from Hogsmeade, clutching a small brown box in his hands. Up in the Owlery, he scribbled a note and attached it to the parcel, handing it to an owl to send on its way.
He hadn't forgotten about @Tyranni Whitethorn, one of his closer friends that had crossed his mind to buy a small gift for, while he was at Hogsmeade. Wearing the blue friendship bracelet Tyranni had crafted for him last year, on his left wrist beneath his winter coat, had served further as a visual reminder. If the second year had felt left out, not being old enough to go to Hogsmeade, Andrew hoped the gift would cheer Tyranni up.
He wasn't the greatest at personalizing gifts for others, mainly because he himself always requested food and edibles as gifts. He didn't get why people would want to hold onto anything permanent otherwise. Though he was fairly confident Tyranni would appreciate anything, he hoped his gift wouldn't be a disappointment.
Had he known exactly where Tyranni was, he would have delivered the gift in-person, or have someone relay the gift to Tyranni, rather than take the much harder path, in his opinion, of going out of his way to the Owlery and thinking up a note to write.
Inside the box would be a mug shaped entirely of gingerbread, coated in a mirror glaze of icing that would almost pass for real ceramic, depicting a textured wintery landscape and whimsical Christmas figures. Magic would seal the gingerbread's freshness and supple texture, while preserving the mug to hold a piping hot beverage for however long, until the whole thing was devoured.
In fact Andrew had gotten one for himself, which he planned on testing out at dinner.

Hey, Tyr!
Well you know me, I always go for food, so here's an edible gingerbread mug to drink with your hot chocolate or tea or whatever drink you want. Hogsmeade went great! Dan and I shoveled snow to clear some streets, built a snowman and did a bunch of other chore stuff. Nothing too exciting. Will share more at dinner, if you're around. Can't wait until you can come next year!
Later,Andy

Little Something
The young Slytherin was sitting in one of the large windowsills in a discrete corner of the castle, reading a book. The year had been busy, flying by quickly and she needed to de-stress. Winter break was around the corner, snow covering the ground. There was a silence in the air, a stillness that penetrated deep into ones soul. Peace. This was exactly what she needed.
Lost in the world of her book, she was startled when a flurry of feathers and claws disturbed her serenity. She glanced up in time to watch an owl land and hop it's way over to her, dropping off a small box in her lap that it had been carrying in its beak. A small scratch on the back of the birds head lead to a head tilt and shut eye from the brown owl. She tried to offer the bird a bite of her sandwich she had brought with, but it turned away and flew off.
I wonder what this could be? And how do these owls know how to find us so well? She turned the package around in her hand. It was fairly light. There was a small note attached to it. Unfolding the note, she smiled. It was from Andy. He had gone with Dan to Hogsmeade to do an errand but she wasn't old enough to join yet. Opening the box, she pulled out a gingerbread mug, just like he had described in his note. Just like Andy to get something related to food! She chuckled as this thought cross her mind. It was a very sweet gesture from her friend. She might not have many friends at school, but at least the ones she had made she valued dearly. When he went to supper tonight she would search for Andy, bringing her mug with. Perhaps they could share it.
Repackaging the mug, she set it aside and picked up her book again. Yes, this was exactly what she needed. Relaxation, friendship, peace.
