The parchment from his History of Magic essay was spread out in pages to the right of the table, written originally only with blue ink but now scratched all over with red. To the left of the table was book after book upon the subject, three open, the rest still awaiting to be attended to.

The topic had seemed simple enough, The Gargoyle Strike of 1911. Simon thought he had a decent understanding of it when he had written his essay the first time but when it got handed back to him and rejected by the professor, he supposed that wasn't the case.

So now it was back to square one. Researching the topic, looking up the information, interpreting it, and soon it would be time to start making the revisions.

The only problem now was that Simon just didn't have the drive and determination to work on it. Instead he was looking around at the architecture in the library and wondering what other sorts of information was in the books upon the shelves.

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair, telling himself that he HAD to work on this. The professor would never accept his essay in the current state it was in so he had to start on his revisions.

Mei walked into the library in search of a good book. She had just finished one she borrowed from the previous week and was bored not having made a lot of friends yet. Mei returned her book and began walking along the shelves. She didn't see anything that caught her attention. Instead, she pulled out books one by one scanning a few pages to see if she liked it and If she didn't she put it back. She yawned a little starting to get bored with her search. Mei looked up and saw a book that she'd read before. It was a good one too. However, it was too high for her to reach. Mei stood on tiptoe and reached up leaning on the bookshelf slightly. Yet still, she couldn't reach it. Mei jumped up a little. Once. Twice. Then again. "Oh for Pete's sake." Mei grumbled. Mei jumped a little higher managing to grab the book pulling it off the shelf a little. Maybe a little too much. One second the book is on the shelf. The next and it has fallen on her head thudding to the floor. Mei looked around to make sure no one heard. She was met with no shushing. Mei crouched down and picked up the book and walked out of the aisle rubbing her head and towards an empty table.

Checking on @Mei Hagikura

First he checked the index, and turned to the page number that it told him to go to in order to find his topic. 118, 119, 120, 121...there it was. His hand trailed down, skimming the words until he got to the right place.

He began reading, taking in the author's rendition on what laid the foundation for The Gargoyle Strike but he would find himself distracted. Thump. Thump. Thump. Something was said in a low mutter. Thump. THUD!

Simon glanced up to see a blonde girl jumping, trying to get to a book on a high shelf and just as he was getting up from his seat, the book dislodged from the shelf and fell down, hitting her ontop of the head before crashing down and resting on the floor.

He winced. That had to have hurt. The book was a rather thick one and while the girl got the book and began to walk away, he still felt he should check on her. "Everything okay?" he asked, approaching her slowly and hoping not to scare her. The library was so empty that it was pretty quiet and he didn't meant to startle her. He really just wanted to make sure she was okay and maybe if she needed any other high books he could offer his assistance as he was rather tall for his age.

Mei jumped at the sudden sound of speaking and dropped the book on her toe. Mei quickly bit the inside of cheek to keep from crying out. That was the second time in less then five minutes. Mei turned to find a boy who looked at her with a concerned face."Huh? O-oh I'm fine. My head just hurts a little." Mei looked down at her toe. "And my toe. " Mei laughed awkwardly. She picked up the book that she had dropped a second time and shook her head. "Sorry if I distracted you." She nodded her head towards the open books where he was sitting. Mei held the book to her chest. "What are you working on?" Mei nodded to the open books again. Mei rubbed her head and winced. Next time I should ask for help. Maybe then I won't have to worry about books falling on my head. Or my toe. Or any other body part. Mei said to herself shaking her head and looking back to the boy. Mei realized she had yet to introduce herself to him."Oh sorry, I've yet to introduce myself. I'm Mei,What is your name?" Mei smile at the boy her eyes squinting a little as she did so.

Introductions with @Mei Hagikura

"If you need help reaching a book and I'm here, feel free to ask,"
he offered up kindly and smiled, glad that she was - more or less - alright. "I'm here quite a bit." That was an understatement. Some of the students spent their free time in the Courtyard or out on the school grounds or near the lake but he couldn't go outside freely like they could. Simon often remained indoors. He was there in the Library nearly all the time learning as much about the magical world as he could. Usually it was for his own pleasure but this day it was to revise and correct his essay.

"I'm working on my History of Magic essay. Again. I thought I had a pretty good understanding about the Gargoyle Strike of 1911 but the professor handed me back my essay. Rejected it. I have to do it again," he said and sighed. Simon must have overlooked an important detail or something and he was determined to find it. "You didn't bother me though. Sometimes a distraction is good, a little bit of a break to refresh yourself."

He paused to take out some water from his bag and took a small sip of it before bringing out a baggie of lemon drops. Simon popped one in his mouth before offering her one. He wasn't a huge fan of sweets but lemon drops were an exception.

"Pleasure to meet you, Mei," Simon smiled, liking that name. Some names just seemed to fit the person and while he couldn't describe why, Mei seemed to work for the blonde. "I'm Simon. Simon Kincaid." He didn't have to throw in the whole Hufflepuff classification because he was wearing his house robes.

"What brings you to the library today?" and to be so determined as to get that book.
