Michael forgot a lot, like more than just the normal. He forgot his mother's maiden name, his father's age, his sister's names at times. He forgot everything. Surprisingly, he could remember a lot, too. He remembered that his mother hated coffee, but would drink tons of herbal tea. He remembered his father liked to have his shoes shined right before he went out, as if everyone was going to notice the shining of the dress shoes. He remembered that during the week of the full moon, his sisters would be distant, something he both hated and loved.

Today, he had forgotten the dynamics of Transfiguration, something he was shocked to find he forgot, as the teacher was very memorable. He looked through the books all around his room, but there wasn't a single Transfiguration book there, mostly potions much to the boy's shock.

So he got dressed quickly, having spent the day in his sleep clothes, fluffy socks and all. He grabbed a beanie at last, thinking about the blonde hair he had and how it was a marker for all bad things, especially when it was a sigh that read."Pureblood!" For all that knew the families.

He made his way down to the library, looking around for the Transfiguration section. Maybe today wouldnt be as bad as the rest.

Of all Hogwarts subjects, one could say that Transfiguration was currently the one that fascinated Opeila the most. It had been a pain in year one, because the little girl simply had let the physics aspects intimidate her, so her first assignments had been A's. She hated it. All her other subjects were good or very good, but Transfiguration had been a big struggle. Charms had been her favourite and best subject back then, it was barely more than learning incantations and wand movements. Sometimes researching the history of a spell, which was also rather interesting. And important in some parts, the history of the levitation spell had taught Opeila that it was a terrible idea to cast it on a person.

Now it seemed like Transfiguration- although it was more difficult- could take the place of Opeila's best subject. All her subjects had improved in her second year, for one she was more used to the expectations of most teachers- there were some new ones, who Opeila had not really spoken with yet- but also because she focused on her studies a lot since she had returned to Hogwarts. The Slytherin had taken every chance of distraction she was given and studying was a great one. It would help her a lot in the future as well, hopefully.
Only Flying was still difficult. She wasn't bad in flying, but the E's predominated the O's. The sky simply was not Opeila's world. The second year didn't feel very safe on a broom, there was always the fear of falling off when she moved to quickly. She recently learned the Slippery Charm, surely there had to be a Gripping Charm as well? That would be a useful one to know.

Today, she was sitting in the Transfiguration section of the library to do some research for her homework. The research was maybe the only thing that still frustrated her about the subject a little. Once she understood the topic, it was all good and logical, but she first had to get to that point and that took a bit of time. So the Slytherin sat at a table, three opened Transfiguration books around her.
She was so focused that she completely missed the boy, who entered the section. It was a weird prickling feeling on the back of her neck that got her attention.

Frowning, she turned around. It was a mere instinct that made her jump off her chair, grab the boy's sleeve and pull him away from the shelf he was standing in front of. Only a mere moment before a book fell out of it and on the floor, just where the kid was standing a moment ago. "Sorry!", Opeila could hear someone say from the other side of the shelf.
"I- Sorry. You're alright?", Opeila asked the boy, a little surprised of that sudden instinct as herself. Her seer powers came through in the weirdest moments sometimes.

Michael was too busy gripping his shirt, under it was a sign of how shocked he was after being pulled. His heart was beating fast. He looked over to see the book and nodded, as if he just realized the girl wasn't trying to hurt him like some other second years he knew.

"Umm . . tha, thanks." He said as he finally looked at the girl that had pull him. She was stronger than he thought a 12 year old should be, or many that was just because he swore he was gonna be brusied.

He licked his lips, trying to gain enough nerves to speak to his sorta savior. He smiled slightly, "Yeah, Thanks, umm I'm Micha- Mic, just Mic." He said to her.

Slowly he was beganning to realize he didn't like anything he was. Because all he was, was another piece of his father's image. He brought his hand up to his hair, messing with it as he waited for the girl to say something. Maybe her name. Well, hopefully her name. It would he werid to only know her as the girl who pushed him away froma book.

Looking over her, he believed her to be slytherin, but he saw snakes in Orange and Gryffindors in green so looks can be deceiving.

It seemed like Opeila had startled the boy. Well of course she had, who wouldn't be startled when a stranger suddenly pulled them aside. But if the alternative was to have a heavy book fall on one's head, maybe that was not that bad after all. The Slytherin let go of the boy and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, that fell in front of her eyes. "I... I saw the book move up there and thought you might am... prefer not to have it fall on top of you.", she explained with a light smile. That was a lie. She had not seen it, but what was she supposed to tell the boy?

Opeila was supposed not to draw attention to herself when she could avoid it and revealing her seer heritage to strangers would make that a little difficult. "I didn't mean to scare you.", she finished.
The younger boy's name was probably Michael, at least that was what it sounded like before he asked her to only call him Mic. Opeila smiled. " Nice to meet you, Mic, my name is Opeila. Are you in my house? Slytherin? I feel like I might have seen you in the common room before..."

Have you ever had your life flash before your eyes? Michael hadn't either til that moment. Sure it was only a book but, well, it probably weighted more than he did.

Michael looked down at the book, it was kinda big, it could have hurt. "Yeah, thanks." He said as he focused back on her. She was taller than him, but not by much, maybe only 3 inches more? He smiled, "My hero, Opeila," He said, her name was . . different. It didn't really slide off his tongue and he had to think about it so he wouldn't say the wrong thing. His mouth wanted to say o-PEE-la, but the girl said o-PAY-la. There would be slipups. But it was pretty and unique.

The Boy nodded at her next questions. "Yeah, I am a first-year Slytherin," He said, he thought back to a time he might have been in the common room. No, at no point he stayed there long, as he didn't think he could handle the pressure of so many people at once. Maybe she saw him in passing . . . . It made sense.

Michael tried to remember if he had heard her name before if he had seen her. He didn't think so? Maybe in passing, or a Quidditch game, or duel. He wondered if she was a dueler, or played quidditch.

"What year are you?" he asked in return.

Opeila smiled when the younger boy thanked her and called her his hero. "Don't mention it. Glad to be of help." I have seen enough dead bodies in my life. Two to be precise, but that was enough, right? Opeila would not have to see another person die in front of her, would she? Well, given the weird attacks that happened in Hogwarts all the time it was not unlikely that she would. Or maybe she would be the next dead body that others got to see.

Her memory had either been right or she was a lucky guesser, however, Mic confirmed her assumption that he was a Slytherin like herself and added that he was a first year. Yeah, he looked like he was around her age, likely younger. He was small, a bit smaller than Opeila even, but then, so was Ruka, who was even a year older than she was.
Opeila hadn't missed how shocked the boy had looked when she grabbed him. It had been more, longer than a simple I-didn't-expect-you-shock. That had been more of a I-thought-I-was-going-to-die-shock, making Opeila wonder if she had missed something. Had there been an attack that made the first year jumpy? Or was that simply the way he was?

"I'm a second year.", Opeila said when he asked for her year. "Not that different from first year if you ask me, except that you are more prepared for... well, Hogwarts, you know." She shrugged. "How were you first months here? Mine were pretty uneventful and then suddenly hell broke loose, but I've heard that others are making different experiences."

Michael listened to her speak, nodding at some of her words, letting her know he was indeed listening to her. He thought she seemed like good company to keep, better than what he had met so far.

The girl continued on, speaking almost carelessly and calm. She spoke only a couple of sentences but they sparked Michael's attention.

Michael tilted his head as she spoke, "What do you mean all he- stuff broke loose?" He asked her, curious. He bite his lip, "all I've dealt with so far is some goons. Some ummm. . . something wood boy. I think he shares a name with another boy in my dorm, we're actually dormmate. . . That's it." He said. He felt like he was oversharing but decided to worry about that later on, after he learned what he could from her.

He remembered the upperclassmens hazing, and how he was scared and shivered. He couldn't get the boys eyes out of his head. "I wouldn't classify it as bad just yet." He continued.

He didn't even want to comment on the other boy, he didn't really spark Michael as important enough to mention. He seemed to only be a lacky for the brute that attacked him. Well. . hopefully he was only a lacky, he didn't need more than one person coming for his head only months in to this school.

Just for the record- He had asked her to tell him. If Opeila ended up terrifying the kid, she would not feel guilty for it. "Well... this is a castle, you see? A magical castle. Sometimes it's hard to keep an overview of what gets into the castle until it has caused harm. And... magical harm beats non-magical harm 19 out of 20 times I would say. It did in my first year." The second year only lifted her trousers off her right leg a little, just so much that Michael could see the black veins and dead skin. "Hence why I've stopped breaking rules. Following them is no 100% protection already."

Opeila had originally planned not to comment any further but then something that Michael said caught her attention. Something about a boy being difficult. A boy who shared his name with another boy and was in Michael's dorm. The young witch wanted to sigh. Didn't they all have enough problems already without being problems for one another? "Someone in your dorm?", she asked, "Is he from your year? Maybe I know him." Opeila didn't like the whole idea of bullying. A little harshness from time to time didn't do any bad for most kids, but only if it had a purpose. And only as long as it was still possible to act as a team in the end.
