Kiara is an 11 year old female who was born in Cork, Ireland on the 15th of September, 2009. She was born to a mechanical engineer as a father, and a banker as a mother, and both of her parents were often busy trying to provide for her and her siblings. She had 4 other siblings, 2 older (Fiona [14, F] and Finn [13, M]) and 2 younger (Trevor [10, M] and Quinn [9, F]). Her parents never had much attention to spare, but the small amount of attention they did have went most to Finn and Quinn, and least to Kiara, forming her to be reserved and private early in her childhood.

Kiara is stubborn, competitive, perfectionistic, and has trouble expressing emotions or opening up. Her hobbies include games which test her intellectual capability, such as chess and sudokus, and things which help her understand the world, such as reading and studying. She values knowledge and freedom, enjoying solitude above all. Birds are her favourite animals, as she envies their freedom. She enjoys swimming due to its competitive nature.

When she was 6, and reading an especially thrilling novel, Kiara was rudely interrupted by the presence of Finn and Trevor, both going on about their own subject; Trevor wanted to know how much she could tell him about the electoral college, and Finn wanted to see whether she had seen his art supplies. Overwhelmed and simply wishing to return to her book, in a state of concentration and anger, she yelled out, "Shut up!", and groaned, face palming into her book.

Soon, she realised that her brothers seemed to have taken her advice, seeing as they both went eerily quiet. She turned, only to see both of her brothers in panic and fear, making mouthing shapes which suggested speech, with no sound coming out. In a few minutes, all went to normal, and the trio gradually convinced themselves that the event had been a dream or a hallucination.

She grew up in a muggle household, with both of her parents being muggles. Her parents first thought that Hogwarts had been a sort of elaborate prank by their middle child as a desperate grab for attention. After they eventually came to terms with the fact that wizards existed, and that one of their children was one from this entirely new world, however confused, they were neutral to the idea of the wizarding world as a concept, but instead more concerned that their daughter would be safe. Once made sure that their daughter would, in fact, be safe, they were sad to see their daughter go but relieved that they would have one less mouth to feed.

She went to a muggle public school, where she excelled in maths and history. Generally being shut-off and unapproachable, she only had one friend, named Kayla. Kayla was assertive and understanding, and made it her mission to help Kiara be more open to new people and new experience. She failed, but a beautiful friendship blossomed in its place. When Kiara left for Hogwarts, offering little to no explanation and essentially abandoning her friend, their friendship slowly dissolved into a mere memory.

When she arrived in Hogwarts, she was sorted into the house of Ravenclaw.
