Stepping in here to explain. You are both correct.
We have over 20,000 accounts here. This section of the forum is also visible by guests. What you are writing can be viewed by ANYONE with access to the Internet. This puts you in danger. We cannot verify everyone is who they say they are, either.
We recommend that you do not share personal real life information about you anywhere. Not here, not in owls, nowhere. Telling someone what continent or country you are from might be something you are okay with sharing since they are huge areas. But essentially, the more specific you go, the more you're in danger (i.e. giving your address to people or saying "[Specific event/thing] is like 5 mins from where I live" is bad because they can google that specific thing and figure out what area you live in pretty easily). Additionally, you might say "I'm from [random city]" here but you have used the same character on another rp site where you have revealed your age, people now know your age + location. Social media likely has your full name, age and in some cases, way too much information about you (school / job, specific location, who you're friends with, what you like etc).
With the internet, it's very easy to find a bunch of information about you that you've revealed and pretty much work out who you are. The less you reveal overall (social media is the worst at this, in my opinion), the better and safer you are.
If you are a minor, you definitely need to be asking your parents before you share things. If you are over 18 then you can make that decision on your own. We do not wish for you to be in any sort of danger so please take internet safety carefully. We would recommend you do not share personal information, particularly name, age, address, with people.
