We are breaking curfew.
Hexcode= #967bb6
What they were doing was in direct violation of the curfew rules she had been taught during the tour so kindly chaperoned by @Hjørdis Jensen and there were no second thoughts when it came to the course of events so triumphantly set into motion by her decisions. She simply wanted this moment to last as long as it could before she had to return home and if this new friend of hers was going to slow them down she would wait for him as long as he needed. Albeit, she would wait impatiently. "Slowpoke," she called down to him in a teasing fashion from atop the stairs in the owlery, that vicious laugh of hers returning in a more quieted manner as she remembered what she was up to. No good, and she had promised to set a good example. Hopefully the prefect responsible for patrolling this area was lazy, asleep, or otherwise indisposed.
From the tower's perch atop the castle, it seemed as if quite the storm had wracked the grounds of Hogwarts and though the intrepid spirit of the warrior she was hardly allowed room for fear, some did linger as the events of the night replayed in her mind. "What a marvelous view!" She attested as though witnessing a miracle firsthand, her eyes peering out into the violent storm that gripped the place. With lightning streaking through the clouds, the cumulonimbi threatened to unleash an onslaught of hail. An assault which might pelt the school in hundreds upon thousands of beads of white, or, it could all melt before reaching solid ground. It was nothing like back home where the gardens and fountains, which while magical in their own right, lent to an air of calm grace. Hogwarts felt downright haunted, and the masquerade combined with the storm lent itself to the atmospheric dread that encompassed most of the school.
As her impromptu dance partner made his way up the steps, notably panting for breath, Roberta fetched spare quill and parchment before she penned her letter. It was late, but good news was welcome at any hour in the Martin Household. She wrote mothing so grandiose or long winded, but her letter would simply be a respectful moment to check in with her father and a quick way to let him know that she was still having a good time on her expedition to the UK. She left out the part that despite the boy she had been arranged to attend the ball with, she had found someone far more worth passing the time with, but she did mention his name in the hope that their families might establish some sort of connection so she might see him again. She would fight to be his friend if that's what it took. Sword, wand or quill. In this case quill.
Eagerly turning to the staircase, she awaited her novice dance partner with the homeward bound letter in her hand. Something Bernard had mentioned to her before she left for the interschool race itched at the back of her mind. SCAR. Although she had batted it away like some sort of pestering nuisance before, the fear of Bernard seeking vengeance was something she needed to understand, and now that Noah seemed interested in her, he seemed like a good place to start. "Have you heard any rumors about the group calling themselves SCAR?" It was an abrupt change in tone, but something about their shared isolation, the weather and his willingness to be vulnerable opened her up to him and she would share her fears.

Weather, You Like it or Not?
Noah usually aspired to be the best at everything he could. He studied as much as he could and tried to keep his grades up as much as possible, it wasn't all that fruitful but he did try, at least. However his definition of "everything" was rather narrow. This meant that when he said he wanted to be the best at everything, he was ignoring things he didn't consider important. So here comes the funny bit, the only thing he considers important are his academics. Anything besides his studies, he has no care for. A bit of a stretch, saying "everything", I'd say. Regardless, Noah didn't have high opinions on pursuing others passions as much, even if he had an appreciation for people who did.
The point of all this was to explain why exactly Noah was struggling to catch up to a person the same age as him. Was it fair to compare him to someone who seemed to be of the athletic type? Perhaps not but I can also tell you that Noah's performance was pathetic by any standard you'd like to pick. He was good at walking, slowly. He liked to walk and take in the sights around him, not necessarily rush towards a destination. Which meant that her pace was far too much for him to begin with and he was already a little tired but climbing the owlery was a whole different task.
He tried his best to keep up but he couldn't, took a little break to catch his breath, all while considering how much more he had to go. A look at him would convince anyone that he was pretty fit, but in reality that was just because he didn't eat much, he did, unfortunately, lack energy. A fact that was majorly crippling him at the moment. Her callout at him being an attempt at trying to tease him made him feel no better.
By the time he reached the top, she seemed to have finished writing already. Wasn't helping.
Resting on the wall now to catch his breath and relax, he looked outside, it was an intense night, he knew it was pretty bad but being at the top of the owlery and looking at that view was... a little scary. He shook his mind, he was used to this, he loved gloomy weathers that made it feel like they were moments away from the world ending, this was home for him... But it wasn't, it felt unfamiliar, he decided to simply focus his attention somewhere else, fortunately, that wasn't very hard.
Why was he here anyway? He didn't think about it much, about her. Did he actually like her? He wasn't sure, her personality wasn't all that "his type" but he didn't know what his type would to begin with, what kind of people would he like to be with? Well... None. But come to think of it, most of the people he had any meaningful interaction with had been people of her type, was this how things were? More importantly... did he like this or not? He couldn't deny that he had had a lot of fun, probably the most he had in ages now. Regardless, he felt like coming here, which means he probably did like spending time with her, from the little time they had spent together. He wasnt' sure how to feel about that either but decided it was no time to question it, he had decided not to let worry block his fun for the day and that wasn't changing, he wasn't backing out now.
Although it did catch him off guard when she asked him about SCAR. Come to think of it, what was he expecting to begin with? He knew she didn't need him for anything, she was clearly stronger than he was and she didn't need "protection" or anything, it was just a way of spending more time together, he didn't mind that at all. But he didn't quite think of how people spend time together, what do they do anyway? All of his interactions with people were spontaneous or unavoidable, something like this was unfamiliar, he wasn't sure what to expect. But let's not blame him, it would quite possibly shock most people if a random name mentioned in the news was bought up in a situation like that, it wasn't very related now, was it?
Of course, Noah simply passed it off as him being unaware of how people usually behave and decided to try and remember what he knew about SCAR, "Well, I don't remember much... That group or something that was poisoning people or something, wasn't it? What about it?"
It felt odd, he felt like he should have said more, or maybe asked a better question, he wasn't happy at all with his reply, he should've looked into it earlier, maybe he'd have something more interesting to say then. He tried to ignore it and diverted his attention to why she was asking to begin with, did she know something about it? Was she a part of it? Was she actually going to stab him there and then like he kept thinking she would?

Her hair having been tightly bound this entire time was finally let it loose as she posed heel to heel reaching both arms upwards to release the mess from its bun. Despite the raging storm brewing outside, she felt relaxed here with Noah. She sighed heavily at the uncertainty of what she had to say. Would it help her feel better at all? She had heard that letting go of your fears could help you win a duel, but this was more than that. She took her mask off, it had grown uncomfortable, and seeing her partner face to face seemed fair. He had already risen to the challenge, and though his grace was far from practiced, it was charming. Now she wondered if the stamina of his wit matched that of his legs.
Caution dictated her tone as she approached the topic bothering her sensitively. "It might seem silly but," huffing at first she scrunched her mouth and nose while glancing to the left then to the right before giving the room a thorough once over. "I'm starting to think one of them threatened me." She paused, measuring his reaction before continuing. She had dismissed it so quickly that only after hearing about the poisonings did she take it seriously. "Bernard is an oafish werewolf back home. He said that his family would have more say than any of ours when SCAR was done." Done with what? She had no idea, and she hadn't even bothered to ask him.
She paused again, this time as a streak of lightning matched the hail, pelting the grounds with force and illuminating the owlery in eerie white light. Picking back up where she left off, her voice became hushed as she drew in closer to Noah, both for comfort and for discretion." He said that it was time for the outcasts to finally have more of a say in the wizarding world." She was being raised to be one of the noble warriors so it was by no means a comfortable confession to bring out into the open. That her family were superior to others was a given, but when confronted with Bernard's words she didn't feel superior. She felt like a fly. "He might be a bully, but I believe his threat, or at the least I am concerned that he would do something heinous at the least.
More so than seeking to share her fear, she sought her dance partner's opinion on the organization and its threat. Did Noah believe SCAR was the fearsome organization that the schoolyard bully back home had made it out to be? His account of the poisonings was something new to her and it had only instilled more doubt in the "lofty ideals" of their cause. "If what you say about the poisonings is true, then someone should be working to stop them right." Asking her father for his thoughts had proven a pointless endeavor. He simply didn't believe they posed any threat, even if they were terrorists. "The ministry and its agents would stop them long before they reached France." He had said with all the arrogance expected of a Martin Patriarch.
From her standpoint, poison was the tool of cowards. The crutch of someone weak. Someone who fought without respect or concern for their opponents. She needed to know where Noah stood on the matter. Was it with the Pureblood society they had both presumably been born into. If not then perhaps his loyalty lay with the outcasts who resisted the orders of the elite? Maybe somewhere closer to the middle? Her fighting spirit quelled by the paranoia of subterfuge, she asked after his thoughts worriedly, pulling at the hems on her dress. "What do you think?"

Weather, You Like it or Not?
Trying to regain his composure, Noah stared at her, still amazed at how glorious every move of her seemed to be, quite contrary to the boy still not completely recovered from his exercise. It was only then that he realised he still had his mask on and quickly took it off, instantly feeling slightly relieved and wondering how he even forgot about that to begin with.
He wasn't sure why she was trying to be so careful at first, SCAR was a bit of a rough topic but nothing anyone in Hogwarts would be supporting, it seemed silly to support a bunch of murderers. It was only when he heard what she had to say after that that his face morphed into a state of slight shock as his heart skipped a beat, unlike what had been happening throughout the night so far, this time it was out of fear. He wasn't in any danger but the very thought of being on bad terms with someone affiliated with a group like that sounded scary and he had no idea how the girl in front of him could say it so calmly. More so when the lightning bolt struck and his face morphed into complete terror for a split second but he tried his best to hide that up.
He honestly wasn't sure what to say so decided to wait until she had finished her bit before he said anything, just to get more context instead of saying something that would make it worse.
What did he think? He took a deep breath to forget about his poor physical condition and (attempt) to drown out the terrifying storm going on outside the owlery. His eyes softened their focus as he tried to think about everything through; he didn't know much about SCAR, honestly. But he doubted the ministry knew that much more, from the sounds of it, they were weak, if someone weak was trying to stand up then they wouldn't do it based on their strength, that much was obvious, but beyond that; what that meant for how long it would take for the ministry to capture them depended on... well he didn't really know, he just didn't know anything at all about it.
"Well, to be honest with you, I don't know enough about it to be able to say anything concrete. If this really is a group of squib then they probably planned it well, they can't really do much by magic... but then it shouldn't be that hard to capture them either if someone figures out how they're operating, I think? The bigger problem is probably how they're all hiding, I guess, it's hard to figure out how many of them there even are..."
He sighed, that probably wasn't helpful at all, he was simply thinking out loud rather than saying anything that would count as useful information. He took another breath and spoke, "Regardless, your problem focuses more on that guy. I'm pretty sure he's bluffing but even if he isn't, I don't think they'd listen to some kid complaining about his school problems, they probably have better things to risk their lives for, don't they?"
Of course, he had no idea if what he said was true, it did make some logical sense but his brain was already finding points to counter that point but he shut them off for the time being. He looked back up at her, only now realising he hadn't clearly looked at her face since she took her mask off and instantly feeling embarrassed and averting his gaze again, he cleared his throat and said, "Well, anyway, if it was me I would apologize but of course that... doesn't seem like an option for you at all. Even if they do try something just... use your wand? They're squibs, they can only fight by raw physical power and that's not very effective sometimes."

There was a bit of awkward silence as the stranger in front of her reminded her that she could still use her wand. She was supposed to be a duellist. Why hadn't she thought of using magic? It was embarrassing to say at the least, but she was too proud to admit she had a lapse in judgement, so she let the awkward silence take over. Unluckily for her the thunder and lightning seized the moment and struck yet again, letting loose another ear-splitting blast during the doldrum. She was not fearless and there were many things that still frightened her. Magic, despite its effectiveness at handling Bernard on occasion, would not help her if S.C.A.R. decided to do something more serious. Startled by the clap of thunder, she gripped at Noah seeking steady support only to regret it a blink later.
"Sorry," she said apologetically while letting go of the white-knuckled grasp she squeezed his arm with. "Coming here was an awful idea," she said looking about the owlery as another gust of wind ruffled the feathers of the messengers within it. "Perhaps I should return to my room." She smiled, regathering her composure after the startle. If it weren't for the heebie-jeebies that the school's atmosphere put off, she would have left him in parting then and there, but the darker corners of her mind couldn't help but ask "what-if" and he was the only person around she had extended even a fiber of trust to. "Shall we?" She said leaning closer to wrap her arm in his, hoping to prompt him into escorting her back to her room.

Weather, You Like it or Not?
It was hard to imagine how it would feel to be in genuine danger from some weird secret organization and Noah felt quite bad about it but he also figured she probably wasn't looking for pity, more importantly, he barely had any advice to give, sadly enough, he had barely any real experience in things like that, despite being in Hogwarts, he hadn't learnt much, even if he had, it would probably not help against S. C. A. R. anyway. He was completely useless in the situation and decided not to speak more than he should, he waited for her to say something but it seemed she was lost in thought.
He was enjoying his own time in his thoughts when suddenly thunder struck, startling him and temporarily shocking him but he was comforted and scared further simultaneously by someone grabbing him. It was kind of nice to have some reminder of not being alone in a situation like that but it was also not very comforting to have an unknown hand grab you out of nowhere when you're already in a state of shock. Of course, he only flinched temporarily and she would probably (hopefully) understand- or rather; would misinterpret it as him getting shocked by her touching him out of nowhere, of course the flinching had nothing to do with the thunder, that would be a ridiculous claim to make.
He cleared his throat and fixed his posture up a bit as she apologized. It was indeed quite a horrible idea to come to the owlery, he really should have denied way earlier but he also really wanted to see how it would go, of course, he wasn't expecting them to be scared and walk back, that was fairly underwhelming but poetically fitting in Noah's horrible history with adventures.
He sighed, he was a little sad it was ending just like that, it had been quite fun but at the same time, he also knew they had to return to their dorms eventually, more importantly, he wanted to get out of the owlery as quickly as he could. He was relatively calm when she wrapped her arm around his, he knew what she was trying to say. Or at least he hoped he had the right idea and she wanted him to walk her to her dorms. He didn't mind, it would feel rather awkward to just part ways so suddenly anyway.
It was only after reaching the bottom of the stairs that he really thought about it and realised something. His face went from relieved after finally getting away from the owlery to slightly worried again, "Uh so, where are your rooms again?" He wasn't entirely sure but he knew there were a few in the campgrounds, was that all of them? Was he supposed to escort her through the grounds? Was this a practical joke of some sort?

Holding his arm as they walked down the stairs was not so bad as Noah felt quite warm. Whether it was from the physical activity of dancing, followed by chasing her up and down the stairs or just that she was cold from the stormy owlery Roberta paid it little mind. Instead she leaned in on Noah for support while her irrational fears of the unknown dwindled with each step. Only when they arrived at the bottom of the stairs, the castle surely empty with all of the respectful students gone to bed, the fear came tumbling back when he asked his question.
She would hesitate to answer, the sound of a torrential downpour just beyond those large doors in the great hall giving the castle a constant droning sound. Her attention focused back on the boy, she turned her head to face him, eyes full of fire and put her mask back on. "Across the grounds, in the cabins," she said without changing tone, her voice lowered and hushed so as not to draw any unwanted attention. "Give me your blazer won't you?" Her eyes were anything but pleading, this was robbery of the affectionate kind. "I promise I'll send it back.""Uh so, where are your rooms again?"
Sure enough, Noah being the respectful young man she'd come to know in just a short time, he pulled one arm out from its sleeve then the other. Handing her the jacket, she pulled it up over her head, donning it like a suit of armor. Of course she knew the umbrella charm, she just wanted his jacket for her own nefarious purposes. "Thank you Noah," she said a bit blushing from behind her mask. "I had a lovely time tonight, we must dance again when I return." She said the word "return" with false confidence, not truly knowing whether or not she would ever make it back to Hogwarts. Though she clung to hope that she would, she would leave him with something to remember her by. Leaning in to give him a quick peck on the cheek for his uncharacteristic daring, she then left going through the front door.
Dashing like a mad woman across the grounds of Hogwarts in the middle of a hailstorm, Roberta made her way back to the cabin safely. That was where she would await whatever punishments Beauxbatons deemed appropriate for her breaking the curfew. She would owl the blazer back to him the very next day, clean and soaked in her own perfume. Short of a scouring charm, the blazer would be cursed to smell like her for forever. A most nefarious plot indeed.
Permission to god mod Noah's jacket off given.

Weather, You Like it or Not?
annnd that's a wrap, thanks for the roleplay!Noah didn't hesitate much in giving her the jacket, in fact, the moment he had considered her having to go outside, he had wondered how she would manage that anyway, having completely forgotten about 'just use your wand' for the time being. Her asking him for the jacket came off as more of an excuse to be able to help her without seeming too up front about it from his side to him.
It was hard not to feel a little hurt as she bid him farewell, a little of course being a massive understatement but he was trying his best to deny it right now and just try to hang on to the good things, life would go back to normal the next day and he didn't want to start thinking about it just yet. For now he just wanted to cherish past few moments, it was incredible how such a little thing had impacted him so much, he wasn't even fully convinced about going to the ball and he could only wonder how much he would regret it if he hadn't... but he wouldn't even have known what he had missed out on, it was terrifying. But he was glad that didn't happen for now. For now he had to just hang on to the hope that for a change, things had gone well and they probably can in the future too, but the thought that she too was not going to be there soon enough was quite painful.
Although his worries ended away as she pecked his cheek and he couldn't help but let his cheeks flush, although he managed to control himself from freaking out, giving a quick, "Yeah.. I had fun too, thanks." before she left.
Even if she was gone, he felt pretty happy with the time they had spent together. It wasn't nearly as much as he wish he could've but it was still surprisingly more than he would ever have imagined. Besides, she did say they'll keep in touch through owls right? Although... he wasn't sure about that. writing owls sounds awkward... Ah nevermind that, he could think about it later. For now he just went back to his dorm as quickly as he could so he could finally go back and fall to his bed, thinking back on the day with a smile on his face as he drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
The same smile would be on his face the next day as he carefully placed the blazer back into his trunk, keeping it as a souvenir more than an ordinary piece of fabric, he wasn't sure how long the scent would last but his memories would remain fresh regardless. He had already made sure to document everything into his diary so he could read it again if he needed to remember how he felt at that moment, but for the time being, he was still in the moment, he decided to enjoy the peace he felt for as long as it lasted instead of worrying about when it would fade away.
