Frost, Will You be My Sweetheart?

Not quite having the courage to directly tell Frost his feelings during the entirety of her baking, Sylvain lingered close by as the cookies she had so thoughtfully helped him bake cooled on the table in front of them. For the moment, she felt like the center of all gravity for the sappy pre-teen. The pressure was at its most immense the closer to her side he approached, yet even his thoughts were admiring the way she simply was. A half-dozen compliments lined the inside of his otherwise empty skull, all of them would have surely been futile efforts to interpret the truth behind his indescribable feelings. For now, he was merely content to stare at her lovingly. Letting his gaze linger with all the sweetness of a school boy crush, fearful to look away lest she fade from his memory. If her eyes threatened to meet his he would of course meekly look away glancing back only in moments where she became focused on the task in front of her once more. Sincerely he was hopeful the extra attention would not be so easily noticed.
She was impressive and every bit worthy of his admiration. Frost had proven herself sweet, and kind, and helpful. Above all she smelled nice. Nice like the smell cookies in February. He was all too well aware that was completely smitten by this girl and having never felt this way about another person before, he was in quite the dreadful position of being totally and completely unprepared for what would come next. No book in the library, nor comic magazine from home had taught him how to handle himself in this awkward sweaty-silence that followed her every action. It felt as though it was like a dance. A dance where one partner was obliviously unaware of the harmony playing in the background. Blind to his music, she would never know his feelings unless he said something soon, and yet the thought of this feeling never being known felt like the worst kind of ignorance. He would have to let her know how he felt, even if it meant rejection.
Of all the questions he gripped at himself with, the lad was stuck fast on making even one decision in the heat of the moment. Was it more important to tell her how he felt now while he still felt it, or was it more responsible of him to measure the feeling in private and come back later when he was sure? His heart beat more rapidly in his chest and his stomach tickled whenever he admired the care she put into her baking. The thought that she might reject him had only briefly crossed his mind but something about the air nearest her calmed him to the core, and his worrying thoughts melted like buttercream icing on warm cupcakes. So he sat next to her and leaned in to admire her handiwork. The way her delicate hands held the piping daintily while her red hair snuck out of the scrunchie that pulled the wavy locks into form left him speechless still. The smudge of icing on her chin made him smile and put a look in his eyes he had never expressed before now.
The brightness of her smile, a pearly grin which showed only a single dimple, paid compliment to the freckles suspended in comely matrix between her soft hazel eyes. It didn't matter what abilities her writer had applied for, as she was most assuredly a lovely creature in his eyes. Finally having worked up the confidence to ask her a question, at least in an attempt to gather enough courage for him to take his first step towards understanding, Sylvain sought to approach the topic of her interest gently so as to leave all of her options on the table. She was older than him, though that was hardly an issue in his eyes. She might have been more experienced than him, but he doubted that. Hopefully with his question, she would be better prepared for his follow up question."Do you already have a sweetheart for Valentines day?" His eyes were fixed on her every word, nerves threatening to drive him to giggling laughter at even the slightest hint of humor, and palms sweating comfortably folded in his lap.

Frost, Will You be My Sweetheart?
02.13.21 → ic date♡ all you need is a little bit of love! ♡@Sylvain Wyltvalentines day outfit :3ReducioFor some reason or another, Sylvain had requested Frost's baking services for a school-wide errand. It had surprised her to know that he had heard of her baking. Had her baked treats really been tasty enough to have been talked about? Well, it was certainly an easy way to flatter a girl like her. She knew that she had not been good at many things and was not the most interesting of people, but Frost had rightfully prided herself in baking. If she could do one thing right, it was the art of creating edible treats filled with care.
But baking cookies for so many people was no doubt a challenging task. Sylvain had accompanied her in the kitchen earlier. Though he didn't seem to have much baking experience and was not much of a talker, the girl found him to be good company. Even in knowing that the sugar cookie blanks did not all have to be perfect, Frost tried her very best to make sure all of them were handled and made with love. There was someone going to receive every one of them, right? So obviously they all had to have to be cared for.
Later when the pair had finished baking all of the cookies, the errand started, Frost and Sylvain would decorate a few themselves. Soft ginger hair would be pulled back into a ponytail, it was at a length where any of it in her face would be distracting. She would admit that Sylvain's silence was a tad bit awkward, but it was alright by her. Frost had remembered something her dad had said to her long ago, something about silence while working with food meant that they were in sync and working well together. He had worked as a baker and chef for far longer than she could remember, so she trusted his words.
Frost shifted her gaze to the boy beside her. Though he looked away from her almost immediately, the Hufflepuff came to the conclusion that, based on how close he stood next to her, that they were a good team. A warm grin crept onto her face, but he most likely couldn't see, since he had turned away. Frost went back to working on the piping on the heart-shaped cookies. A small bit of her tongue poked out from her lip as she focused intently, much like a cat 'blep'.
Her small hands were usually very steady, but after much baking, she had begun to get a little tired and messed up a bit of the piping. Not noticing that a blob of the icing was on her hand, the redhead girl wiped her chin, unknowingly smudging it on. She was just as oblivious to the thoughts of Sylvain, having no idea what he was going through.
The silence that sat between the pair was suddenly broken by Sylvain's voice. His question pulled her out of her intense focus, Frost now faced him, the piping bag still in hand. "Um," She had to think about the question, but given that she didn't really know what a sweetheart meant other than the gross heart-shaped candy given on valentine's day, she could assume no. So she shook her head. "Mmm, nope I don't think I do."
He looked as though he was slightly uncomfortable. His gaze seemed intense, perhaps he wasn't a fan of her non-seriousness. That wouldn't be a first. Maybe he didn't like how she was decorating them? Or maybe he wanted to put icing onto cookies too instead of just watching? After all, she would hate to seem selfish, it was supposed to be a two-person task.
"Oh," Well, it had been the most likely and reasonable conclusion she could think of. Gently, she slid over some of the decorative cookie supplies with a warm smile. "Sorry, Syl. Oops, er- do you mind if I call you that?" The Huffle peered at him with big eyes, awaiting his answer. "You know, like a nickname? Unless you already have one. It's okay if you don't like that, I'm okay with just calling you Sylvain. Uh, whatever you're comfortable with."
Frost let out a small chuckle and awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. Now she had felt sorry for not asking before and for her slight ramble. The last thing she ever wanted to do was make him feel uncomfortable.

The tongue blep is so cuuuuute!
To him time seemed to stand still just at the moment before the blushing and up-until-then-potion-fixated, wizard could ask his follow up question. "Would you be mine," still lingered in the back of his mind while his partner slid the cookies and supplies in front of him with only a heart warming smile to accompany the signal of the shift in responsibilities. Although it was clearly his turn to decorate, his mind raced ahead as the light in her eyes begged him to answer her question right away and he was more keen to satisfy her than anything.
A moment to think was a rare, and a thoughtful response to one's interest even rarer. In order to make good use of the time she had thoughtfully kept aside for him, it was of the highest importance to him that he take the chance to prove his wit in fullest measure. Wanting nothing more than to impress her, he would take the shot she gave him and pour his heart out into the best work of art he could make. "Syl's just fine if you want," he said shifting forward from his hands. Hands which had only just begun to cradle his head much in the way one's hands do when their thoughts grow heavy in alignment with their heart.
Collecting himself, and the components he needed for his soon to be love potion, Sylvain thought how best to answer her question while doing his best to avoid blushing. The faintest idea had then brewed into a solvable solution, the formula for love being solved with humor. That she wanted to call him anything at all tickled his thoughts and filled him with joy. That she seemed so interested in his comfort was exciting and gave cause for his heart to beat just a little faster. As his heart picked up pace, so too did his thoughts.
For a moment, but only a brief one, his attention was fixated solely on the cookies in front of him. An act of discovery awaiting his exploration while his crushing thoughts were still present. An overwhelming desire to do something different had overcome him. He had seen plenty enough heart shaped treats to last himself a lifetime and up until he witnessed her loveliness for himself, his passion for potions was unrivaled. Now there was a challenge.
Using the piping and taking his time with the details, Sylvain frosted the blank biscuit with soft layer of snow-like white while doing his best to create a pink heart shaped potion bottle in the middle. Taking a moment to let his work soak in, he put one hand to his chin and grew contemplative as he elected to paint an elegant number nine on the treat as a finishing touch.
Though only a moment had passed by, the inspiration had taken him miles away. He no longer feared rejection as it ultimately meant little. Instead, he anticipated her response. He slid the cookie towards her, a smug grin sheepishly growing across his face while the piping still sat fixed in his other hand prepared to decorate all the blank cookies she could handle. All he wanted to know now was how she felt about him and his passion.
Raising his voice gently, and letting go of his doubts, he resolved to come up with the cheesiest pick up line he'd ever heard of."Though I'd let you call me whatever you want if you'd take this love potion and make yourself mine." The inside his head he screamed at the corny nature of his line while every fiber of his being told him to abort the mission, but he kept an air of cool confidence as he pushed through the feelings. After all if confidence was an act and not a feeling, then what he felt with her was genuine and his eyes sparkled with that truth in every moment he was with her.

Frost, Will You be My Sweetheart?
02.13.21 → ic date♡ all you need is a little bit of love! ♡@Sylvain Wyltvalentines day outfit :3ReducioA smile crept onto her lips as she got his approval to call him by a nickname. Slowly but surely, the girl made her way into blooming a friendship with him, not knowing that she had already wormed her little way into his heart. "Okay then," She nodded slightly at the name and smiled wider. "I quite like the nickname Syl. Sounds rather nice,"
In a puppy-like manner, Frost tilted her head to the left by the slightest bit. Something she had a habit of doing when she asked a question or was curious that her writer had unintentionally started doing. As Syl pieced together his plan for his cookie decoration, the Hufflepuff wondered what it was he was thinking. Though she had no doubt in her mind that it would be good. And even if it wasn't the best, she was a girl who believed in 'A for Effort'.
A small 'hm' left her as she went back to finishing up a cookie. It was no good to hover over him as he worked. He seemed to be looking a bit more relaxed and looked less like he was scared of her, which was good news. As someone who often did decoration and was good with her hands, the cookie was finished up with a simple frosting in no time. Frost set it aside and took a break, it was her turn to admire someone at work.
Big hazel-brown eyes focused on Syl and his hands as he decorated, leaning in a little bit more to see better. Though her glasses did wonders for correcting her vision, Frost preferred to admire from up close. When he admired his nearly finished work, she mimicked him, also putting a hand to her frosting-smudged chin.
In a matter of moments, Syl had become increasingly more relaxed and even confident, with a grin as he passed his finished cookie to her. Though he was once very silent and looked uncomfortable, Frost was surprised to find that he was very much the opposite now. After hearing his words, she inspected the cookie. 'Love potion' made sense now, "Is it amortentia?" The girl beamed with a chuckle, looking from his cookie and back to his eyes. She became increasingly excited to know that she had a fellow potions nerd on her hands.
'Make yourself mine' was a curious set of words, especially to her. She took a moment to think. Well firstly, she was quite flattered. There had been only once where someone had even slightly had romantic feelings for her. Frost gave a tiny giggle at his cheesy line. Once again, 'A for effort'. Either way, she definitely wanted to get to know him better. What would be the harm in that?
Gently, she nodded, returning a soft smile. Her voice was just as soft as the girl spoke a reply. "Okay," Truthfully, Frost didn't know exactly what to say. But he had seemed a very nice, helpful boy, even a potions nerd much like herself. Someone who she would not mind at all to get to know better, as long as he didn't mind her. And she was a sucker for anyone with that kind of confidence.
In moments, she spoke again, as if a bright idea had hit her. "Oh, right!" The Hufflepuff scooted her own simply decorated cookie over to him. Since she was the first cookie he gave, he could be hers. Beaming with warmth, she offered him the delicious treat. "I know it's not as special or cool looking as yours but still,"

"It is Amortentia," He said happily, a wave of relief washing over him as she recognized the detail of his efforts. Though he would chuckle to himself as he saw the amount of imperfections in his own work. "Or rather it's supposed to be." At least she had recognized a potion, and that was a green flag, and it was enough to put his fears at ease. Potions was of course his most powerful passion in life so far, so she would have to support him on that front if she was going to be his. For better or worse, he was going to revolutionize potion making.... He just wasn't sure how yet.
Looking at her beaming smile, it filled him with the same kind of joy, and her chuckle was just too cute to be true. He would almost reflexively join, though he would keep his hand over his mouth in an attempt to stop from laughing to loudly. Blushing as she caught ahold of his gaze, the giddy feeling of butterflies in his stomach rendered him speechless and thoughtless while she giggled at either the way he had asked her out, or the feelings his proposal gave her. He didn't mind which she laughed at either, just that she was pleased by his asking. That he had managed to make her chuckle was sign enough that she liked him back. He would keep his fingers crossed behind his back that she would agree.
When she said okay, accepting his request to become his Valentine it was like learning to fly, or rather, what he had imagined finally learning how to fly would feel like since he hadn't ever actually flown anywhere. The feeling was exhilarating nonetheless, and instead of getting carried away, he reflexively clenched is fist with excitement as he withheld his inner desire to shout "YES!" for everyone to hear. If not because the last thing he wanted to do was embarrass either of them, then because the next to last thing he wanted to do was make a scene. Eventually he would do just that. "YES!"
After his fist pumping victory and a celebratory shout, he scooted a little closer to his newly dedicated sweetheart. At first just to give her the oogly eyes of someone smitten by absolute perfection but then secondly to admire the cookies she had made to share with others. That someone had so much patience and natural talent was interesting on its own. Of course he thought the cookies she had made were a work of art, which caused the butterflies in his stomach to work all that much harder. As he got closer, they tickled with every word and movement threatening to make him start giggling all over again.
"Frost," Sylvain said as he gasped dramatically, gaining control of himself and looking at the cookies she had falsely claimed to be "not as cool looking as his." "You're too humble, these are absolutely beautiful!" he said eyes speaking the earnest truth. He held nothing but admiration for her work. Still, his eyebrows arched in curiosity. He couldn't help but wonder why she wasn't as proud of them as he was when he had been struck with admiration for them.
The feeling was a mixture of disbelief that something so beautiful was meant to be eaten and delight that she had taken the time to ensure the frosting of the individual cookies were so carefully detailed "Each one is so precise and uniform." He said, hoping she would take it as a compliment. "Where'd you learn to do all this?" Feeling bashful as his hastily made cookies lay next to hers, they made his look more like a rush job. "I ask because I can see the love you put into each one," he said as his eyes came back to meet hers. A wide grin replacing the curiosity in his eyebrows, melting his face into something more of a smile while the butterflies slowly realized he wasn't ticklish any longer. "You should be proud of yourself."
Shifting in his seat, another question came to the forefront of his mind. It was accompanied by a serious need for sweets. "I'm almost ashamed to ask, because I don't want to ruin your hard work, but can I try one of them?" His eyes twinkled with the purest charm glancing up to meet hers as though enchanted by her efforts while his hand came down to point at the one cookie he had desired the most. "This one perhaps?"
