Bullarum Immortalem. This was the one spell Mars had whispered to themselves over and over again in the middle of History, wrapped their tongue around so many times they might have been sick of it. For some reason, it was the one they tripped over the most, synapses in their brain wanting to connect the incantation to the spell effect. It was Bullarum not Bubblarum. Bullarum, Bullarum, Bull—Come on!

"Bullarum Immortalem!"

Their voice was sharp against their ears as the incantation ripped out, an effortless string of syllables. Hours of practice had paid off—there was no stumbling here, just clean, crisp spell casting that sent a rush of adrenaline through their veins. Mars watched with wide-eyes as the magic pulsed up their arm, through their fingertips, bursting into a golden light at the tip of their wand. The bubbles grew, string together before they launched themselves at Illowy, joining with the others to create a glowing change.

Mars turned to Cel a little breathless, returning her high-five. "F*ck," they whispered, staring at their hands, "That felt good." From somewhere behind them, way off in the distance, came a tinkle of laughter, sweet and proud.

They turned back to their opponents, forcing themselves back into the duel. Grinning at Illowy, they countered, "Of course! You'd be grumpy too, if you had one..." Smirking, they raised an eyebrow at her, "Oh wait, you do~"

Laughing, Mars flipped their wand, and widened their stance once more. A hint of sugar and saffron wafted up from behind them, a warm breath at their ear. Let's see if it'll happen again.

Erik pinched the bridge of his nose with his middle and index finger as he groaned loudly. This duel..., he muttered under his breath, It's sooo painful. Stupid wand! Agitated he shook his wand and smacked it on the pommel like that would somehow make everything better.

As he looked over at the bane of his existence his "teammate" it seemed she was confused about what he was saying to her. Whether she was too distracted by his earlier remark or just inept in general of dodging incoming spells the werewolf couldn't say for sure. Whatever it was this duel was just painful for them and he wasn't too great either. If they at least wanted a shot of winning this blasted duel he would have to bring his A-game and he would have to do it now. Time was running out for them.

These two were starting to become quite the nascence as one casted Bogies back at her and the other still wasn't finished playing bubble wands. Truly, these bubbles were just plain annoying more then anything else. Not that Illowy was about to give them the satisfaction that they might be getting to her... though it seemed her teammate was getting increasingly frustrated, "Now isn't the time to lose yer focus, Tharaldson." she warned, though her voice lacked the harshness one might've thought she'd aim at her teammate at a time like this, "We're not out of the game yet."

When Mars thought to try to tease her back about having a cold, Illowy could only smile, giving a small chuckle as sniffled and raised a sleeve to rub at her nose and make sure she wasn't making a mess of herself quite yet, "You think a little cold is all it takes to get to me? Oh, love. You are dearly mistaken as to who I am." Illowy might've been a pretty wisp of a thing, but she was hardly a sensitive flower. She wouldn't allow herself to be moved that easily.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

The Slytherins seemed to be back on their feet in this round. Mars and Celynne fired off their spells toward Illowy and Erik. Erik dodged the Green Sparks Charm that had come flying his way and somehow, Illowy was able to avoid being hit by the Incendio Duo spell Celynne had casted, despite all of the bubbles surrounding her. Erik went for a different approach; instead of casting at their opponents he aimed his spell toward the bubbles surrounding Illowy. His Knockback Jinx hit them squarely, leaving Illowy slightly less bubbly than she was before. This would certainly make it easier for her during the next round, though she would notice her stuffy nose and nausea start to increase. Mars could feel the same; the duel was far from over and Amadea was intrigued to see what would happen next.

  • In the same time period, send me (Amadea Campbell) your team's actions per owl. Actions happen exclusively in owls so do not give anything away in your initial post. You can post your reactions after every mod post for each round. Please have one person send in both actions for each round.
  • Failing to give actions means your team does nothing but passively dodge. Failing to post even though your action has been submitted means your action is void.
  • Your spells, stats, and abilities are now locked in for this duel; you can still update your trunk but the changes will not be made for this duel.

Tch. Mars clicked their tongue as theirs and Cel's spells both missed their respective targets. In all honesty, they had to give props to Illowy for her focus on dodging. It'd certainly caught them off-guard. The same was true of Erik's spell—they hadn't expected him to target the golden bubbles, frowning a little as a few of them were knocked away from his partner.

Perhaps it was the surprise, but Mars almost missed the words that came from their opponents lips. However, upon hearing it, a grin slowly spread on their face. The faint annoyance they'd felt at the failure dissipated, and the rush of adrenaline kicked in again. Gods, duelling was always better with a little banter.

"Oh?" they raised an eyebrow, shifting their stance wide, "Didn't expect you of all people to talk smack." Glancing back at Cel, Mars felt the grin stretch a little wider.

"Hope you can aim as well as you can handle a cold then~" they winked. Flipping their wand into casting position once more, Mars laughed. Ah, they'd forgotten how fun this could be.

Well, that didn't quite turn out like she wanted it to. Cel frowned, taking a step back—oh well, at least neither of them had gotten hit with anything. She couldn't blame their opponents for taking some time on defense, though, it had probably been a wise choice.

Her attention was once again distracted by her partner—in the best of ways, of course, they'd figured out how to communicate effectively without taking their main focus off the duel. "I suppose I've been inspired," she quipped, spinning her wand in a mock imitation of Mars's habits. Maybe she'd gotten more caffeine today, maybe it was just the adrenaline of the duel that turned on the spark in her eyes—who knew?

At any rate, it helped to be quick on your feet in the middle of a situation like this. Tucking her locket back under her shirt where it'd flown out—getting hit in the face with a piece of flying metal was not particularly fun, as she'd learned during practice—she took a breath again, focus sharpening like a knife on a whetstone.

Erik was literally with his hands in his hairs. What to do, what to do?! Nothing had seemed to work. His spellwork was flawless, but his aiming. Now, that was something else. The beam of light that Celynne had casted at the start of the duel still caused him to see dancing spots in front of his eyes. As hard as he tried to push with his knuckles the dancing spots away they only seemed to multiply.

This isn't going to work... Come on, Tharaldson! Think, think damn you! That's when it hit him. He had only tried to target his opponents, but what if he tried to help out his teammate instead? Well, here goes nothing! With that he had immediately acted. This had caused some of the bubbles to fly away from his ally. Yes! The battle is not over yet, you Ravennerds!

With whatever semblance of grace and poise Illowy was able to manage while tangled up in bubbles, she was glad she managed to avoid the flames of Cel's spell - though she couldn't deny, it was exhilarating to a degree when the fun spells were finally broken out. Even more of a relief was the feeling of two of those cured bubbles being blasted from her person by her teammate, "Thanks." she spoke with a brief nod. At least that was one less thing to have to deal with for now. And at least it was some evidence that they could work (or at least look like) a team instead of a pair of bickering bitties.

When Mars quipped back, Illowy could've laughed. There were few people she knew that had a sharper tongue then herself. If anything, it was a regular exercise of self control not to let her mouth run away with her, especially towards a person who couldn't handle her level of honesty; tact had never been her strong suit, "You really don't know me very well then." she smirked, falling back into her own ready stance, keeping trained attention on the pair before them.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
