Waiting for @Kara Capricorn to arrive to lead an art workshop
Hogwarts was a place for magic. Whether that be the potions that brewed within the potions classroom or the creatures that one learned about that inhabited the Forbidden Forest. It was a place of endless opportunities and the sky wasn't the limit because one could keep going up into the Heavens. But what did one do when their own abilities prohibited them, when they needed a bit more experience in order to pull something off? Well, then they asked for help.
One of Hogwarts' former headmasters once said "help will be given at Hogwarts to those that ask for it" and that's exactly what Simon Kincaid did. He had posted an advertisement in the Small Hall for an instructor of sorts that could lead an art workshop for two. This would be his first official date with his new girlfriend.
The first to respond was Kara Capricorn, a Second Year Slytherin who Simon had yet to meet. Still, she had agreed and together they corresponded through owl (since coursework was so heavy towards the end of January and curfew so early). He had written home to his aunt who ordered the needed supplies and everything was set to conduct the workshop within the Old Classroom on the Second Floor.
Simon arrived early to set everything up to the best of his ability. He was soon to meet Kara there, to make introductions and make sure there wasn't anything else they needed, and then he had told Haley to meet him there a little bit later so hopefully everything would be in order before her arrival.

Now Kara was a clever and curious young girl. She always would run of to special places looking for treasures and hidden gems, when in reality, it was just a bunch of junk, but not to her! It probably contributed to the fact that she liked Wall-E a lot...
She had seen a small paper on the post-board around the entrance to the Great Hall that said this new couple wanted to do an art themed date, and they would accept sculpting. Kara was someone who knew how to do that very thing, specifically welding. The brown-eyed girl was quick to accept as she knew what it was like to just get with someone. She had recently started dating the well-known Cassandra Ironwoods. Almost everyone Kara knew seemed to know them, and maybe this Simon kid would too.
Walking through the halls of Hogwarts in a welding outfit would get a lot of confused stares, so Kara decided to use some of the secret passages she had discovered in her first year. She of course found them when she was wandering the halls, iconic thing of her. She still of course got lost sometimes, so when she finally burst through one of the loose wall-frames, she wouldn't be surprised if Simon was quite startled to find a dust and dirt covered girl holding a welding mask in one hand and a blowtorch in the other.
She came out coughing and waving her hand in front of her face to get the dust away from her.
"Oh, sorry 'bout that! It's kinda dusty in the tunnels, and I almost got lost in there twice!" She turned, putting the board back in place, and it looked like nothing ever happened. No such thing as a hole in the wall.
She placed the mask and the torch onto the table, which held many little metal scraps and trinkets, which made her eyes sparkle.
"If you wanted to work with scraps, you found the right gal! I actually just started dating myself, and I think that my partner would quite like this activity, so thanks for the idea," She pulled off one of her large gloves and shook the dark haired boy's hand "Kara Capricorn at your service!"

Introductions to @Kara Capricorn and waiting for @Haley Rose to arrive
He had arrived in the Classroom only minutes before so he wasn't waiting long for her to arrive. Her arrival took him by surprise and when he heard the crashing of the board he jumped a little and was surprised to see the girl come out from the wall. Now, he knew secret passages existed in Hogwarts but he just had never known where any of them were - until now.
He laughed at his wuss of a self and being scared from the moment and reached out to shake the girl's hand. "Just looking for a unique art experience," he said with a kind smile and was glad to have found someone so willing to do this. "Simon Kincaid, nice to formally meet you, Kara."
Pausing a moment to take a look at what materials she had brought along, he then turned back to the girl. "So you're new to the dating scene?" he asked. Simon was, at least when it came to Haley. Back in London he was one of those kids who technically had their first girlfriend at 9 so he wasn't new to the dating scene but this time it felt different. It wasn't just young love but there was trust behind this and adventure.
"Congratulations on your relationship and much luck. What can I do to help set up? Haley should be along any moment."

Haley was in her dorm room getting ready for her meeting with Simon. A few days ago she had received an owl from Simon with a short note:
She didn't know what he was going to do or what was waiting for her, she only knew the place and time but she was looking forward to it. This was their first meeting as a couple and although nothing had really changed, Haley was incredibly excited. She felt silly, but I guess that's what love does to you. And the more she puzzled over what Simon was up to, she still knew that if Simon had planned it, it could only be perfect. She put on her shoes and made her way to the meeting place."Meet me in the old classroom on the second floor at 4 pm".
She strode through the fat lady's portrait and went down 3 floors to get to the old classroom. She met hardly any other students and as she walked happily through the corridors she hummed a song on her lips. After a few minutes she arrived in front of the classroom and couldn't see anyone. Presumably Simon was already inside and so she opened the door and went into the room.
Her eyes landed on Simon and a big smile formed on her lips. But she quickly saw that Simon was not here alone, but another girl who was dressed rather interestingly. She looked between them a little confused, not knowing what was going on or what he had planned, but she was sure it would be extraordinary. She recognised the girl from the P.U.R.E. Ball but they hadn't spoken and she didn't know her name.
"Hey you two." Haley greeted them, still with a small hint of confusion in her gaze, and walked towards the girl first to introduce herself. She held out her hand to her, "I'm Haley, nice to meet you." She gave her a warm smile before walking towards Simon. "What do you two have planned?" she asked curiously as her gaze wandered back and forth between them.

Ready to begin, with @Kara Capricorn and @Haley Rose
Simon looked to the doorway as Haley entered, glad that she was able to make it. With the increased coursework around the school, he was hoping that this would be a welcomed break from it all instead of interfering with the completion of any assignments. The same went for Kara as well as he'd never want to inconvenience anyone.
"Well I thought it would be fun for us to try our hand at some art. Since we're stuck at Hogwarts and can't visit an art studio in London, I thought I'd bring the art studio here...or rather, have an artist help us create an art studio here."
That's why he had scouted out for a 'teacher' for them and he was happy that Kara had answered. Whatever it was that was her art form and whatever her specialty, it would be a fun idea to learn more about it and then get the opportunity to try it out for the afternoon.
"So Kara, why don't you start by telling us a little bit about yourself, as it's always quite nice to meet someone new, and then tell us a little bit about your art - how you came about it, what you use, how you go about doing it." Then once they had some sort bigger picture in mind for it all, she could help assist them on making something themselves.
It all sounded like a great idea. Simon went over to his bag that rested on one of the wooden student workspaces and got out his water, taking a sip before they would begin.
He wasn't familiar with Kara's art, having just met her himself, but he was eager to learn more about it. While he lacked natural artistic ability, he did enjoy going at least twice a year to some of the art museums in London.

Simon Kincaid. Kara hadn't heard the name before, let alone see the boy in person. He was quite tall for a first year, but only a few inches taller compared to Kara, but she didn't mind.
"Congratulations on your relationship and much luck. What can I do to help set up? Haley should be along any moment." Simon had said, to which Kara gave a small smile.
"I enjoy the offer, but I must kindly decline. I'm not someone who needs help, and I am quite formidable on my own." Kara then let go of his hand, turning to the workshop table.
She picked up a few of the scraps and looked at them closely, putting the blowtorch down on the table as she continued, before she took the bag she was carrying off her shoulders, dumping some of her own things onto the table. It was two mini blowtorches, some nuts and bolts, and of course, metal plates that she herself had bent into shape. She also had a hammer, but that would be used for later.
As she continued setting up, the final person of the day had finally arrived. It was the girl Simon was talking about in all the owls, so it was nice to finally meet her. The boy had spoken very highly about the ginger girl. Noticing the girl's hair, the only thing that came to Kara's mind was "Irish."
"I'm Haley, nice to meet you." The ginger girl, now known as Haley, stuck out her hand, which Kara shook with the still ungloved hand.
"The name's Kara. Nice to meet you too."
"What do you two have planned?" Haley had asked curiously.
"I'll leave the explaining to your man over here." Kara put her hands up while pointing at Simon.
"Well I thought it would be fun for us to try our hand at some art. Since we're stuck at Hogwarts and can't visit an art studio in London, I thought I'd bring the art studio here...or rather, have an artist help us create an art studio here." To Kara, that still sounded like a splendid idea.
After that little explanation, Simon turned to the short haired girl, conversing with her.
"So Kara, why don't you start by telling us a little bit about yourself, as it's always quite nice to meet someone new, and then tell us a little bit about your art - how you came about it, what you use, how you go about doing it."
"O-Oh! Alright, just sit down first," After the two would sit at the table, Kara would take one of the stools and place it at the opposite end, sitting down and then explaining.
"As you know, my name is Kara. When I was younger, I would always wor with my dad, fixing and building things from cars to gutters to roofing, you name it, I'll most likely have done it. What you see before you may seem like a bunch of trash. But one man's trash is another man's treasure, and I like to utilize the scraps of old and forgotten objects." Kara pulled out the sculpture from her bag, holding it out to the two people.
"My form of art is sculpting, more specifically welding. Welding, as said by the good ol' google dictionary is to 'join together metal pieces or other things by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using blowtorches and other tools, and then later connecting them to create something new.' Some would consider this a quite dangerous task, and their right, as the use of fire is completely needed throughout the whole process, so you two are gonna need these."
Kara tossed the two some protective gloves, aprons, and two welding masks. When she did that, Kara herself put her glove back on and placed the welding mask on her head, flipping it down over her face, so her voice was kinda muffled now, so she spoke a little louder.
"To start, I want you two to sketch out an idea of what you'd like to make." She gave the two a piece of paper and a pen [color=008080]"Don't try to do the one I made, as that one was one of my most difficult because it is fully rotational, meaning it can move using joints I added in."[/color] She picked it up, moving it's arm and hand so that the lamp headed thing waved at the new couple.
She put the sculpture back into her bag before pulling out a paper with a horse drawn on it.
"This is what I am doing. And no need to worry on how good the drawing is. Welding is used for creativity, not for accuracy. At least...not right now. Ok, get to it!"

Haley had always known that Simon was special, but he always surprised her again. It was incredible that he had gone to so much thoughts to put this together. She loved the idea and was excited to see what kind of art the two of them would encounter today. "Oh wow Simon, that sound awesome!" She gave him a smile that expressed her excitement and gratitude.
She now turned her attention to Kara, who began to talk about herself and her art. She loved the little sculpture she had brought but was also surprised, Haley had never seen this kind of art before but she liked the thought behind it. She quoted Kara in her head, "But one man's trash is another man's treasure." And had to smile at this sentence. How right the girl was about that.
She continued to listen intently to her words, but even though you couldn't tell by Haley's expression, she still wasn't sure about this situation. On the one hand, she was looking forward to it, she loved to learn new things, but on the other hand, she had a lot of respect for it and wasn't sure if she was up to it. After all, they had to weld together with fire and the safety clothes proved that it wasn't completely safe.
But Haley didn't want to let her little bit of fear affect her and hid these feelings somewhere inside her. She gratefully accepted Kara's utensils and placed them on the table in front of her. She gave Simon a tense and excited look before looking back at Kara.
A sketch. Oh dear, being spontaneously creative wasn't in Haley's nature at all. She took pen and paper and looked at the white sheet, but no ideas came to her. Haley could be creative, but not spontaneous. Most of the time she was planned in some way but now she would master that somehow.
She looked around the room and thought about what she wanted to create. After a while, her gaze fell on Simon and there it remained. She looked at the beautiful young man, whom she was now proud to call her boyfriend. Her gaze was fixed on him for a while and she smiled to herself until an idea came to her. "Of course, that was perfect", Haley thought to herself and started to make a sketch. She wasn't sure if this could work out, but she really hoped so.
Since Haley had already wasted a lot of time thinking, she immediately started drawing. She was not a bad drawer, but since she wanted to hurry, she did not care much if the sketch would look nice and quickly drew short and long lines on the paper. It only took a few minutes, then her sketch was finished. The sketch would by no means win a beauty contest and Haley couldn't help laughing when she looked at her result, but it would have to suffice.
CheshireReducio. One of her favourite quotes came from her, it was part of one of her favourite stories and she associated it with Simon too. She remembered their first meeting in the library and had to smile.
She now looked to Kara, "I don't know if this will work, but here is my sketch."

Brainstorm ideas first with @Kara Capricorn and @Haley Rose
Kara's sculpture was absolutely amazing and he smiled as she showed how it could move. She was already an amazing artist and while he didn't know her all that well he still hoped that she stuck with it. Someone like that had a natural talent and he could see her going far in life with her art.
Simon really wasn't sure what to try and attempt. Something personal to him? Maybe a cross? He took the pen in his hands and looked down to the paper, his eyes falling on the ring that Haley had given him - the black ring with the snake. A snake? No, while that might be rather perfect it seemed like something that would be delicate to try and weld together.
But something maybe to commemorate his amazement with the magical world that he had now become part of - a dragon? a unicorn? one of the magical plants in the greenhouses? He looked down to the blank page before him thinking about how sometimes he sat for awhile before coming up with the words he wanted to say writing to his aunt in a letter. Letters that would now be given to an owl to be delivered.
It got him thinking how this whole experience with magic started with one little piece of parchment delivered by one little owl. That was it. An owl. Simon sketched one out and far too quickly because when he glanced over to Haley she still seemed to be in the brainstorming phase. No rush. Simon looked back to his paper and began drawing a few different emotions and poses to help pass the time and so he wouldn't seem to be rushing Haley.
When she finally spoke up and told the girl that her sketch was completed, he glanced up and smiled, instantly recognizing the Cheshire
with his large smile. Man, this was a date. He should have gone for something more sentimental. Still, the owl represented the wizarding world and the wizarding world is what brought him to Haley."I've got mine," he said and laid it down to some of the protective gear that Kara had allowed him to use. He didn't have it on yet because he wasn't sure if she wanted them to collect their materials first or anything.

Kara watched as the two started sketching, listening to the quiet scritch scratch on the pens and pencils connecting to the paper. Artistic skills hadn't been needed as much for this part, but the genuine welding part took much precision and practice, so it was best that both were doing something small.
"I don't know if this will work, but here is my sketch." Haley showed Kara her drawing.
It was the Cheshire
"Interesting choice, I actually like it though. I'm not quite familiar with the character, but I know that they are quite liked." Kara said, handing the paper back to Haley.
"I've got mine," Simon then laid down his own sketches.
It was an owl. From this, Kara guessed that he had an owl of his own. Kara herself owned a cat, but she was doing a horse, so she wasn't really sticking to the pets thing.
"The owl kinda reminds me of the one from "The Sword in the Stone." Apparently there's going to be a lot of Disney today!" Kara handed it back, and complimented both of their drawings.
"Alright, here's the fun part. And don't worry, I'll lead you through every step. I will do mine first as an example, then you two can do it, but remember, mask on, gloves on, aprons on, stay away from the fire as much as possible, and don't do anything stupid!" Kara flipped down her mask, putting her gloves on and looking at the two through the mask.
"Show time!"

Kara flipped her mask up, finally getting some fresh air, even though it smelt of sparks and burnt metal, however, dumping all the sculptures they had made into the same ice water bucket caused a lot of steam, so Kara had to somehow figure that one out.
"Alright, using this...grabby thingy, I'll take the now cooled sculptures out of the bucket. I'll get my horse out first, then you two can get your own with this same thingy."
With that said and done, she grabbed the horse with the grabber, pulling it out and placing is onto a towel she had placed on the floor. Using one of her own smaller towels, she wiped her face of sweat from the immense heat. Pulling out her wand, she pointed it at the ceiling, waving it before saying "Nix Facitur!"
Snow then started falling from the sky, but it luckily wasn't sticking to the ground, as it was very light, and she let it go on for a bit until the room was cool again, so she then made a shield shape with her wand, saying "Finite Incantatem!" The snow drizzled to a halt, before completely disappearing.
After that, she looked at her creation. The horse was beautiful.
"This is what the finished outcome looks like!" She was squatting beside the horse before getting up and handing the grabber to the ginger Gryffindor.

Haley looked intently at Kara as she addressed her words to Simon and Haley and then flipped down her mask and began shaping the metal with her tool. Haley looked wide-eyed at Simon and smiled open-mouthed at him. You could clearly see her enthusiasm and excitement and she quickly turned her gaze back to Kara and watched her intently.
It was quickly getting warm in the classroom and Haley was glad she had only put on a T-shirt. Sparks were flying and for that reason too, she was glad Kara had the protective gear for the three of them. It started to smell strange and Haley wrinkled her nose at the unfamiliar smell but it didn't bother her.
A while passed, but soon Kara was finished and Haley looked eagerly at the result. Haley was still excited. The horse looked outstanding and Kara really had a great talent. "Wow it looks amazing!" Haley said enthusiastically as she could now see the finished sculpture, but doubted that hers would look as good. She looked at the horse from a distance and couldn't help but be amazed.
She quickly noticed the pleasant coolness that spread through the room and only at that moment did she realise how much the room had actually warmed up. Still excited, she now looked back and forth between Kara and Simon, "Is it okay if I start next?" She didn't want to be rude to Simon, but she couldn't wait to get started herself. But she knew Simon, he would have been far too nice to turn down her request and so she felt a little bad that she had pushed herself so far ahead but the excitement inside her took over.
Haley now put on her gloves and flipped down her mask and at that moment a little panic came over her. She had never done this before and was now also afraid of handling the fire. But she knew that Kara was there and would help her. She trusted her and swallowed her fear. When she finally started her project, she was still very nervous at first and didn't really know what to do, but with time she became more relaxed and Kara was with her all the time and helped her. She was glad because without her Haley would have had no idea what to do and the sculpture would probably have been a gawk of metal.
Haley could not estimate how much time had passed until she had finished but now it was time. Her own piece of art was finished and even if it wasn't perfect, it was imperfectly perfect. She loved it. She flipped up her mask and was grateful for the fresh air she could now breathe. Sweat ran down her face but it radiated joy and a little pride. She wiped the sweat from her face with her arm and looked at Simon. She smiled at him and as she set her sculpture down with the grabber, she asked him curiously, "So, what do you think of my Cheshire

She took off her gloves and mask and placed them on the nearest table. She knew she must look terrible with her wet sweaty face, her slightly damp hair sticking to her face, but she also knew Simon didn't mind. At least she hoped so.
