Wandering Thoughts
Ben nodded to Ashley. "Yes, that sounds like a very decent plan. Let's just walk around a bit and see if we can find something..." He blinked then, seeing the wolf in front of them. The sudden stop had made him stand straighter and hold out his wand, but then he saw that the wolf was just sitting there, doing its own thing and howling. "Wow..." he exhaled, absolutely in awe. He had never been this close to a wolf either, and it was incredible. "It is beautiful.... I wonder why it is howling so much... it seems to be calling to something, doesn't it? Maybe to another wolf, or maybe it is looking for its own family too?"
As they stood there, watching the wolf, Ben couldn't help but feel connected to the animal. He was not afraid of it either, or anything, he just... wanted to stand there and watch. But then another sound came that made him jump. The sound of his pocket watch. The soft ticking reminding him that time was still marching on, and they needed to be getting back.
"We should go back to the castle, Ashley... Let's just walk slowly, so we don't startle the animal... We can always come back and visit him another time," he promised, taking her hand again. His lit up wand continued to lead them back to the castle if she would follow him.

"We should go back to the castle, Ashley... Let's just walk slowly, so we don't startle the animal... We can always come back and visit him another time," Ben said, taking her hand. Ashley nodded. It was almost seven, curfew time.
She couldn't stop thinking about the wolf. It's mournful cries continued to echo through the still air as the Ravenclaw and the Gryffindor walked back towards the looming castle together.
The evening was growing colder, and Ashley shivered slightly, swinging her red hair over one shoulder. She liked being pleasantly cold, just enough to wake her up. It was way better than being hot, at any rate. The stars and moon were growing increasingly brighter in the darkening sky, casting a glow on everything they touched. It was during moments like these that Ashley felt more connected to the vast universe and her tiny but still significant role in history. She felt like she just might be able to hold the silver moon, to cradle it gently in her arms as the stars floated around them in a sea of deep purple. It was a wonderful feeling. She felt better than she had in a while, walking with Ben. He was . . . Ashley couldn't describe it. He just seemed right. She wasn't sure what she meant by right. He just kinda . . . got her. And he hadn't called her crazy when she was spouting all of her weirdly poetic lines about the universe and whatnot.
After a few minutes, Ashley and Ben reached the steps up to the Hogwarts Castle. Ashley turned, smiling slightly at Ben. "Thank you for walking and talking with me. I'll see you around. Good night." And with that, she gave his hand a gentle squeeze and started up the steps.
Wandering Thoughts
Ben felt that tingling feeling when you just know there is something wrong about the situation you’re in. You know you should run and flee but for some reason you have to pursue the adventure because you can’t help it. Your curiosity is just too strong. As Ben saw Ashley moving closer to him, he reached out to hold the hand that wasn’t holding the wand.
Then the girl performed Lumos and Ben’s eyes grew wide. A wolf! Right there in front of them! And it wasn’t even as if the wolf was mad about their existence, or even curious about them as much as they were about it. He just… howled. Ben felt himself go rigid in the spot. Not by fear so much as… envy. What power, what freedom the wold had!
Looking over at the girl beside him he grinned. “It is stunning… I don’t think it cares that we’re here either… What do you want to do?” He would let her decide their next steps.
