@Natalie Mock -- @Eliza Corrids -- @Candace DykstraToday was a special day, a chance for a bit of romance or platonic love. It was an opportunity to have a little bit of fun and make room for love in your heart, whether that was a new blossoming relationship or to help grow an old one. Love was a powerful emotion, capable of achieving great things. This event was the push that was required to help those in need to make that first step, to find a bond that they could treasure for the years to come. Maybe people will find their childhood sweethearts here or build the foundation of a bond that only grows.
Perhaps that was too optimistic. Nonetheless, this was a way to escape from the drama and angst, a chance to just have a little bit of fun and have a cute date. And what better location to spend with someone than under the stars?
Entering the Astronomy Tower, students would see the familiar staircase decorated with floating paper hearts that gently spun around in the sky. Following the trail of hearts up the staircase, they would enter into the Astronomy classroom at the top of the tower. The entrance to the classroom had a large arch made from paper flower roses in different shades of pink and red around it.
Walking through the arch, people will be greeted by a very different decor than they were likely used to seeing at the astronomy tower. Heart garlands were draped on the edge of the tables and paper hearts floating in the room randomly. There was a sign on the side, saying "please take one". In smaller text, it also said, "You may take up to one of each if you would like".
By the sign, people would see three main options. The first was a vase of pink roses. If anyone looked carefully, they would notice that the thorns had been cut off from the stems. Taking out a rose, they would notice a small label attached to the stem. The second choice was little bags of sweets. A transparent bag holding a small variety of heart-shaped chocolates or sweets. There was ribbon around the bag that tied it shut and a blank label on each bag. The third choice was an eggless cupcake, with glitter icing on it that looked like a rose. On the cupcake case, there was a blank sticker label here too.
When someone took one of the items (or multiple), the blank labels would start to change immediately. They would see words start to form on them. It would give them a number. That was it. A number.
Looking up, they would likely spot a room full of picnic blankets scattered around the area. There was also a foil heart-shaped balloon that came in white, pink or red. They had a small weight on the bottom of the strings to prevent them from flying away. On either side of the balloon itself, they would see a number.
It was clear that they were supposed to go to the respective number to meet their blind date.
On finding their matching balloon, they would look down to see there were two cushions on top of the picnic blanket, with a hamper in the middle. The hamper itself contained a variety of snacks: biscuits, chocolates, scones, cream, jam and cake. There were also some small sandwiches, in case anyone wanted something a little heavier. For drinks, there was a small teapot of hot water that was magically kept hot in the hamper. They would find a small selection of teas, as well as hot chocolate powder in the hamper too - with sugar and milk. For those who preferred a cold drink, there was also water and juice available.
It was definitely on the colder side up in the tower. Being wrapped up in a coat and some gloves would probably be ideal. Hats and scarves would be a decent idea too. After all, the sun had set and it was the middle of winter. However, the sheer number of people around as well as the fireplaces helped to add a bit of warmth to it that prevented it from being freezing. People would not need to wear snow boats as it was not freezing by any means. However, it was definitely suggested that people dressed up warm for the evening.
Sitting down and looking up, they would see the beautiful starry night sky showering over them. Anyone who was good at Astronomy might be able to name some of what they see.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

I walked up the familiar Astronomy Tower steps. I took a look at the items placed on the table. I stood there for a second, trying to decide on what item to pick. Eventually I took the red rose. No thorns, thank Heavens. The number changed to 16. Blanket 16. Not bad. Walking further up and onto the top of the tower. I looked around quickly, spotting 16, I walked over careful not to ruffle the blankets. I smiled. It was near the edge. My favorite spot. I sat down and hummed I Think I'm In Love by Kat Dahlia. I pushed my glasses up my nose. The chill was exhausting. I decided to make some tea, Camomile. My favorite! Pouring the water into the cup with the tea bag in it, I mixed it slowly and thoughtfully. I hope I got placed with Eliza or Katie. Though since sharing my feelings with Katie via Owl. We drifted off a bit. But that's ok. I still had Liz, we didn't hit it off at the dance unfortunately. I looked up at the stars. The zodiac Aquarius was shining brightly tonight. I smiled, stars had always made me feel better. I wondered about Natalia, who would she get paired with? I opened the book I brought and sipped my tea, hopefully I wont have to wait to long for my blind date or dates to show up. I hummed, the late night air was perfect. I set down my book and cut the rose then put it in my hair. This way I wont lose it. I picked my book back up and read.

I smiled, glancing up from my book I saw it was Eliza. She looked great. I sipped my tea and grabbed a tart eating it slowly getting lemon sauce on my cheek. My whole face turned red.
¨E-Eliza! You're my... Er... Date for this evening?¨ I had to take my glasses off, the sudden heat from my face had fogged them up horribly. I could feel my heart fluttering in my chest, it was amazing yet so unfamiliar at the same time. I took deep breaths. I looked at her. ¨Aquarius shines bright tonight, doesn't it?¨ I asked smiling. I got on my knees leaning over some over the edge. The wind whipped the rose from my hair, it swirled before falling, I giggled. That was a sign of good luck according to Mock legends. My grandparents said so themselves. I sat down and looked at the sky. It was clear, gladly. I zipped up my pink leather jacket. It was thin, but the leather kept the cold out. I drank my tea saying nothing. I placed my book mark in Romeo And Juliet. It was my favorite book, or play, by Shakespeare. I looked at the other students, they all seemed so ready for the romance that was supposed to be happening. God what I wouldn't give for a small signal from Him. Maybe I wasn't ready for this. I had a mini anxiety attack. After a bit I calmed down.

I smiled and laughed. ¨Ya know, I honestly think that its a matter of how well the two people communicate, and I have been ok, the divorce was filed between my parents, and my mom is seeing this muggle guy named David George, couldn't be better at this rate!¨ I said. ¨And my family is big on the stars, that's why I know them so well. Over yonder you can see the big dipper,¨ I pointed to the Big Dipper. ¨And the Little Dipper! I'm also a Gemini. Born June first!¨ There was something about the way that Eliza, a Gryffindor, listened to me, a small and feeble Slytherin. ¨Did you know, that on Valentines Day, the Goddess Aphrodite watches over young couples? My families lore says that if you see more than one rose petal falling, it means you will have a good relationship with the person that sees them as well. A bunch of baloney if you ask me! My family's lore has been nothing but trouble for me and Natalia. Besides, if Aphrodite was watching over me she wouldn't allow my heart to be shattered.¨ I took a deep breath, my little rant had taken a lot of air out of me. But I knew eventually I would have to let my guard down so Eliza could get in. The matter was opening myself up to her.

Candace walked up the steps of the Astronomy Tower wondering who she would meet at the top. " I could do with anyone really... Except for Natalie or Eliza. Would be too much."
As she reached the top she could hear someone say, ¨Did you know, that on Valentines Day, the Goddess Aphrodite watches over young couples? My families lore says that if you see more than one rose petal falling, it means you will have a good relationship with the person that sees them as well. A bunch of baloney if you ask me! My family's lore has been nothing but trouble for me and Natalia. Besides, if Aphrodite was watching over me she wouldn't allow my heart to be shattered.¨ Immediately recognizing the voice she threw the handful of roses of the tower, as she slunk into the corner hoping to go noticed by the most unwanted near her at that time. Giving up on hiding she walked up behind them hoping to be sent away to live her life without them! " Why hello! I suppose I must have gotten lost at the airport saying the last word directly at Natalie with a smirk worthy of the late Draco Malfoy.
