Sass and Minifridge

When the rumour that someone was giving away flobberworm started to spread, Jacob's ears perked up instantly. He couldn't miss such a chance. It's common knowledge that ravens like worms, but this time it wasn't a matter of food: magical creatures (even though it might be a bit of a stretch to grant a flobberworm such title), just like regular creatures, had always been the boy's jam.
Jacob was thrilled at the idea of studying the worm's biology and behaviour... or maybe he just wanted a new friend? Probably both.
The worm was wrapped in an ugly blanket. The fabric had absorbed what looked like a gallon of the creature's slime, which meant it was probably slowly getting dehydrated.
Jacob rushed to the boys' lavatory, wet the blanket (no pun intended), then looked at his gooey friend to get some sort of feedback: unfortunately it was as quiet and lazy as it was slimy. And it was VERY slimy.
Now the only things it needed were some food, lots of unconditional love, and a name. Right, a name... was it a he or a she?
It resembled both a segmented worm, its slippery skin brownish and its body fragmented in rings, and a slug, chubby and slimy. However, there was no hint at its sex: "if it works like most worms and slugs, it must be hermaphrodite... how am I going to name it?"
It had two mouths, one on each end, and each of them chugged lettuce like an office shredder. "How does it even defecate?" Jacob asked himself, wanting to puke.
Why evolution has blessed Minifridge and its colleagues with two mouths is still a mystery, since there are no pros to that and lots of downsides, one of which I already mentioned (no need to mention that twice. Wait, I just made you think about that again... sorry about that, reader). One could argue that the heads' purpose is eating more, but there's only so much lettuce that can get into their bodies. Having two mouths could potentially make up for great kissing sessions, but- well- they're probably hermaphrodite. Plus, even if flobberworms liked kissing in general, Minifridge would probably just like to eat like a fat lazy pig.
Minifridge probably didn't like walks around the corridors in a ragged blanket, which is why Jacob decided to make a little shelter. He picked up some sticks, some leaves and lots of earth from the castle grounds; he tear apart an old backpack, filled it with the earth, and used the sticks as a skeleton of the outer cloth walls of this makeshift terrarium. Minifridge finally had a proper home. A temporary one, but a home nonetheless.

So, apparently this was a thing.
Like, a gross thing, but...
WHO COULD RESIST TAKING CARE OF A FLOBBERWORM?!
"OMG, you're soo cute!" She said as she picked up her flobberworm.
"Ew... what?"
Paige turned with her flobberworm wrapped in her arms like a cute, little, big, slimy baby."What do you mean, what? I mean yeah- it's..." Seh held out her arms and had a look of disgust as she noticed the now slimy blanket. "Um, a little slimy."
Understatement of the year.
Paige's arms now started to get slime on them. Ewwww. She walked away. "So, what's your name? Hm, let me look at your face so I can decide." She gently unwrapped the blanket. She wrapped it back up. "Quick question, which face do you prefer to be named by?" The flobberworm said nothing. "Oh, so now I get the silent treatment for not knowing which face you prefer?"
Paige shook her head. "Sass." She stopped. "Well, since you prefer to be that way, your name is sass. I kinda like it. Like, it totally says 'watch out, I've got two faces with attitude!" The flobberworm didn't even laugh. Paige chuckled. This was too fun. "Come on, that was funny."
The flobberworm was a bit heavy... oh wait, that was the slime coated blanket weighing Paige's arms down. "Is it possible for a flobberworm to be dehydrated? You have so much slime." Paige loved creatures way too much.

A proud flobberworm owner was walking in the corridors, trying to come up with a fun activity to do with his chubby friend. He had just found out that he wasn't allowed to bring the creature to the Dorm rooms nor the Lavatories, which is why he was now storming around the school aimlessly.
Luckily enough, a familiar figure was walking towards his direction, bringing him some relief from the boredom and emptiness of the high ceilings and the chilly, humid air flowing all around the castle.
Jacob always looked forward to meeting Paige, because she was kind, nice and funny, plus they had some things in common, such as their love for animals and plants. And their house, of course.
"Hey Paige! How are you? I love your new hairstyle, how long did it take to comb your hair like that?"
Jacob's gaze quickly shifed from Paige's amazing hair to the wonderful bundle in Paige's arms:
"Oh, you got one as well! Where are you bringing him? At this point I'm out of ideas... - What's its name? Did you manage to find out whether yours is a boy or a girl?"
Jacob said whilst feeding his own creature a bit of lettuce.
He had lots of crazy ideas but they were all very silly (let's make them fight, let's put them in a labyrinth etc.), and for some reason he didn't feel like playing "the funny guy" when he was with Paige. In fact, finding a cool activity to do was now not needed, since the girl's company was already enough.

"Hey, Jacob!" Paige beamed as a familiar face turned the corner. Paige shifted the weight of the slimy bundle in her arms. "Oh, thanks!Not that long, surprisingly. It's a hairdo my mum taught me. Maybe like, 20 minutes? I had time." She said, pleased that someone thought her hair was cool.
"Yup, I got one too. And I think it's a her. I just kind of get a female vibe from her. I named her Sass. She's a bit sassy." She raised her eyebrows and laughed. She hoped Jacob knew she was joking, she probably sounded stupid. "Um... I don't really know where I'm bringing her." She laughed and looked at Jacob's bundle. "What did you name him? I'm pretty sure yours is a he- I get a male vibe from him."
She backed up. "Well, I guess our flobberworms might want to meet each other. Like a mini playdate!" She let out a little huff. "Sass is really heavy- how are you managing? Woofa." She smiled. "What do flobberworms even eat again? And what can they do? They're kind of... um." She glanced at Sass. She lowered her voice to a whisper in mock secrecy from the worms. "-boring"
