Ami Procoppio -- Breana Oliveire
Sunday 14th February 2021, 7PM
@Ami Procoppio -- @Breana OliveireToday was a special day, a chance for a bit of romance or platonic love. It was an opportunity to have a little bit of fun and make room for love in your heart, whether that was a new blossoming relationship or to help grow an old one. Love was a powerful emotion, capable of achieving great things. This event was the push that was required to help those in need to make that first step, to find a bond that they could treasure for the years to come. Maybe people will find their childhood sweethearts here or build the foundation of a bond that only grows.
Perhaps that was too optimistic. Nonetheless, this was a way to escape from the drama and angst, a chance to just have a little bit of fun and have a cute date. And what better location to spend with someone than under the stars?
Entering the Astronomy Tower, students would see the familiar staircase decorated with floating paper hearts that gently spun around in the sky. Following the trail of hearts up the staircase, they would enter into the Astronomy classroom at the top of the tower. The entrance to the classroom had a large arch made from paper flower roses in different shades of pink and red around it.
Walking through the arch, people will be greeted by a very different decor than they were likely used to seeing at the astronomy tower. Heart garlands were draped on the edge of the tables and paper hearts floating in the room randomly. There was a sign on the side, saying "please take one". In smaller text, it also said, "You may take up to one of each if you would like".
By the sign, people would see three main options. The first was a vase of pink roses. If anyone looked carefully, they would notice that the thorns had been cut off from the stems. Taking out a rose, they would notice a small label attached to the stem. The second choice was little bags of sweets. A transparent bag holding a small variety of heart-shaped chocolates or sweets. There was ribbon around the bag that tied it shut and a blank label on each bag. The third choice was an eggless cupcake, with glitter icing on it that looked like a rose. On the cupcake case, there was a blank sticker label here too.
When someone took one of the items (or multiple), the blank labels would start to change immediately. They would see words start to form on them. It would give them a number. That was it. A number.
Looking up, they would likely spot a room full of picnic blankets scattered around the area. There was also a foil heart-shaped balloon that came in white, pink or red. They had a small weight on the bottom of the strings to prevent them from flying away. On either side of the balloon itself, they would see a number.
It was clear that they were supposed to go to the respective number to meet their blind date.
On finding their matching balloon, they would look down to see there were two cushions on top of the picnic blanket, with a hamper in the middle. The hamper itself contained a variety of snacks: biscuits, chocolates, scones, cream, jam and cake. There were also some small sandwiches, in case anyone wanted something a little heavier. For drinks, there was a small teapot of hot water that was magically kept hot in the hamper. They would find a small selection of teas, as well as hot chocolate powder in the hamper too - with sugar and milk. For those who preferred a cold drink, there was also water and juice available.
It was definitely on the colder side up in the tower. Being wrapped up in a coat and some gloves would probably be ideal. Hats and scarves would be a decent idea too. After all, the sun had set and it was the middle of winter. However, the sheer number of people around as well as the fireplaces helped to add a bit of warmth to it that prevented it from being freezing. People would not need to wear snow boats as it was not freezing by any means. However, it was definitely suggested that people dressed up warm for the evening.
Sitting down and looking up, they would see the beautiful starry night sky showering over them. Anyone who was good at Astronomy might be able to name some of what they see.

Ami was so ready for her first date.
Honestly? She was a little surprised that it had taken her this long to land a date with someone. Of course, there were a few different variables that had delayed things for a bit- figuring out her sexuality (which, thankfully, hadn't taken too long), that spat with Scott, and then a harsh rejection by the love of her teenage life... But she had persisted, and her date for the night was someone she was more than pleased to be spending the night with. All in all, having her first date on Valentine's Day wasn't the worst possible way she could imagine spending the night before her golden birthday.
After meeting @Breana Oliveire at the Pride Errand last year and then furthering their friendship through the Headliner, Ami had decided to strike up a correspondence with the Ravenclaw. Their letters, although merely friendly and polite at first, had turned warmer and more personal throughout the summer. Between their differing schedules and busy social lives, most of their friendship had blossomed through their penned sentiments even when the school year had started, and Ami's had become... extra-friendly (which totally doesn't sound creepy at all). Yes, Breana was... quite a bit younger than her, but the Hufflepuff found herself captivated by Bre's letter each and every time she received one. Was she just hungry for attention? Maybe. Was she desperately lonely? A little bit. Still, regardless of whatever the reason was, Ami's feelings for Breana grew way beyond "just friends".
Of course, she'd originally wanted to ask Alexx out for this event. After two long years of pining after the blonde, she had told herself that this would be the year that she'd finally work up the courage to actually ask her out on a date. Because apparently, she had the guts to ask even Erin Ryan out for coffee, but not the girl she'd had a crush on for the better part of her time here at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, that hadn't gone exactly as she'd hoped, and Ami had run away from that encounter with her tail between her legs and her pride severely wounded.
But Breana had always been nice to her. Not only was she much prettier than most other second years, but she had always been kind to Ami, which was something she was desperately craving at the moment. Oliveire was intelligent, witty, and just great to be around. So after getting harshly rejected by Alexx, Ami had finally sought out Breana in person and asked her to... well, what had her words been, exactly?
It wasn't the smoothest way to ask someone out, she had to admit, and if she'd been given more time it would've been much more rehearsed. But it didn't really matter, because for some insane reason, Breana had actually said yes."Hey, uh, Bre... are you free on the 14th? I know this seems kind of random, but I was hoping you'd want to go with me to that Valentine's Day thing. Y'know, as a... as a couple? Like, girlfriend and girlfriend."
She said yes.
So Ami was determined to do her very best to impress the second year, and to prove to her (and herself) that agreeing to go on this date was not a grave mistake. Refraining from wearing anything grungy and dirty, or any ridiculously avant-garde, Ami looked... she looked pretty damn nice. Winter in Scotland was bitter and sometimes downright awful, but she was certainly dressed for the weather. Her thick grey turtle-neck sweater was french tucked (thanks, Tan France) into a pair of high-waisted jeans, neither of which had any suspicious stains on them, for once. Her thick, tan wool coat and Red Wings helped block out the cold a little, and her normally wildly messy hair had been tamed. All in all... wow. Someone certainly cleaned up nice.
A few minutes before 7, Ami made her way to the Astronomy Tower, pausing by the door to take and deep breath and steel her nerves before walking inside. She smiled to herself at all the Valentine's Day decorations that adorned the various parts of the normally drab and dreary classroom, certainly feeling the romanticism of the holiday in the atmosphere. Following the instructions on the sign, Ami would reach for a rose and a bag of assorted chocolates. The cards would change to their number, and she quickly put two and two together and headed towards her assigned picnic blanket.
At the blanket itself, it seemed as though the Hogwarts staff had really gone all out. Her eyebrows raised slightly, her expression clearly displaying that she was impressed with all of the options that were presented to them. She'd inevitably have to dig a little bit to find a vegan-friendly option, but she appreciated the thought and effort that appeared to have gone into each and every basket, even if their assembly had been aided by magic.
Deciding not to take a seat until her date arrived, Ami remained standing by the blanket, craning her neck to peer at the entrance every now and again to try and see if Breana had arrived. If anyone was paying attention or cared to notice, she was... uncharacteristically nervous, her fingers doing all sorts of gymnastics with each other as she bounced up and down on her toes. It was clear to see that she desperately wanted tonight to go well.

Ami Procoppio -- Breana Oliveire
Interacting with @Ami Procoppio
Ah, another day, another event that Breana didn't think she'd join in. You'd think a Hogwarts student like her would've sworn off to joining these types of events, but there's a sort of magnet that keeps pulling her back in. Is it perhaps the classic Wizarding World air? Could it be the potential dread of being an outcast if she were to avoid school events? Or maybe... it might be the senior that invited her into this event in the first place?
When she first heard of the event, she had reservations about celebrating the romantic holiday. Despite having thoughts of inviting her old crush, Pericles Dralt, into such festivities, the thought of possibly being lovelorn in the end made her choke. It's one way to avoid rejection, she thought to herself. Still, being alone on Valentines is still a sorry sight, at least for a tween like Breana.
Thankfully, her knight in shining clothing came to her rescue... somewhat. Ami Procoppio, the senior whom she first knew Chad Preoccupied. When she first interacted with him--er, her, she just thought she was an odd sort. It was mostly due to the fact that Ami is a senior. Who is she to garner the notice of a fourth year? Still, it didn't stop the Hufflepuff from talking to her through letters here and there. Of course, the bumbling little eagle was surprised at the sudden communication, but she was open to talking to Ami. After all, it's not every day she gets to talk to someone who was bold enough to dress up like what Ami did in the Pride Errand.
When the senior asked the little Ravenclaw to the event, Breana was... confused, to say the least. Not that she didn't want to spend time with Ami, far from it. But just out of the blue, asking her out, and not only that but also asking to be girlfriend and girlfriend? Breana was lucky that she didn't faint from a heart attack right then and there. She let out a soft squeak of a "yes," and once Ami was out of earshot, anyone could tell that the curly-haired girl was ready to faint, vomit, or maybe even both.
Nevertheless, Breana got a date... How she got it, she had no clue whatsoever. Still, might as well dress up for the occasion since she's this far. She put on an orange striped turtleneck and black overall dress, putting on some decent knee-high black socks and a good pair of sneakers. Of course, it's still rather cold outside, so she covered it up with a thick brown overcoat. With that, the slightly befuddled student heads to the designated meet-up: The Astronomy Tower.
As she entered the now well-decorated area, she wasn't surprised at how it turned out, atmosphere-wise. Hogwarts never ceased to amaze her. She took one item right beside the sign: The cute little assortment of heart-shaped sweets. As she took the little transparent bag, the label on it slowly showed up the designated number. Then it slowly sunk in her why she was here in the first place. "Right," she thought. Maybe when Ami meant girlfriends, she meant gal pals... Right? It's most likely a totally platonic date... between friends... it just happens to be on Valentine's Day... Right?
Breana chomped down a good handful of the chocolate, hoping it'd calm her down as she walks to her designated spot. Of course, her totally-not-but-hopefully-it-maybe-is-romantic date is there. She internally sighed, hoping that her frumpy overcoat doesn't make her look like the end result of a horse's oat feed. She awkwardly waved to Ami, slowly walking up to her. "Okay, Breana, this is it." She thought as she takes a few more steps. " There is a high chance that it may be a date, maybe not, BUT. It's still good to make a good 1st... 2nd impression. Just don't make it too awkward-- Oh God, I should start talking to her already, right? Come on, Breana just say something, ANYTHING."
"Ey... uh... yo." Breana stammered out, awkwardly saluting Ami in a weird patriotic manner. The minute she realized what she's doing she tried to salvage it into just her scratching the back of her head.
"... You bland chicken nugget."

Ami Procoppio -- Breana Oliveire
@Breana Oliveire.
There! Out of the corner of her eye, Ami spotted her date for the night approaching, and she cleared her throat and smoothed out her sweater and coat. Both the girls seemed to have bundled up for the evening, with Breana wearing an absolutely adorable overcoat that looked downright cozy. God, she was... adorable. Beautiful, actually, under the starlit night. Ami's grin widened into a full-blown smile as the Ravenclaw approached their designated picnic blanket, and her heart decided to kick it up a notch, beating as quickly as a rabbit's.
Ami giggled (giggled! who was this mysterious, giggly redhead?!) at Breana's sloppy salute, and saluted her back as well. "Yo, yourself," she remarked casually, gesturing for Breana to get comfortable on the blanket. Almost automatically, part of her King Chad personality started to leak through as she took a seat on the blanket as well. Quick, quick, compliment her outfit! "You look beautiful, as always, Miss Breana," she said smoothly, her eyes darting across the younger girl's dress before flicking up to meet her eyes once more. "Downright breath-taking.""Ey... uh... yo."
Clearing her throat, Ami picked up her rose and offered it to Breana. "I know you have one already but... happy Valentine's Day," she said with a sweet smile. "I know this is like, a first date and all... so I hope you don't mind me being overly cheesy."
Moving the picnic basket closer towards the two of them, Ami would open up the lid and peer inside. "Let's see... oh, lord, there's nothing interesting to drink here. Good thing I've got you covered, eh?" Reaching into one of the pockets of her jacket, the Hufflepuff removed a bottle of butterbeer she'd bought from the Three Broomsticks during one of the previous Hogsmeade trips, and offered it to Breana. "Now, I know you're still only a second year and you can't go to Hogsmeade yet, so I figured I'd bring a little bit of Hogsmeade to you! Here, drink some. I've heard it's absolutely delicious."
