Group A: Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff
Finally things had started to go better again. After what felt like an endless stream of bad luck, Lydia managed to cast her spell; the Wingardium Leviosa flew towards Alec, but he managed to avoid it, but Lydia wasn’t too sad about it in that moment, she was still too happy from having actually cast the spell right.
Then, she saw the spell aimed at her, but luckily enough it went in a completely different direction.
The Hufflepuff girl took a deep breath, before concentrating on her next move.Action: doing as strategised

Amadea concentrated as she cast her spell, hoping it would hit the target. As she watched it fly toward the Gryffindors she saw Alec evade her spell so easily it looked like he didn’t even have to try. Lydia’s spell also successfully cast, and Amadea gave her teammate a quick thumbs up before preparing for the next round. No spells had come toward her this round, but she had no idea what would be coming. She had to be prepared for anything.

This was not AJ's round. He'd been doing quite well towards the start of the duel, but things had slowly been going downhill. First he was missing, then he couldn't quite cast his spell last round, and now it culminated in a backfire. Gryffindor's strategy was quite smart, she'd give them that. If it had worked, both Hufflepuffs would be practically defenseless against them until they removed the blindfolds. As it was, though, Alec's spell missed, though not so terribly as last round, and AJ managed to obscure his own vision.
The Gryffindor Captain just couldn't catch a break; he would also be struck by Amadea's Flipendo. Bridget had already witnessed quite a bit of skill from all four duellists, but this was more than just casting a spell really well. No, it was clear as the fourth year's spell made impact that she could channel more power into her spells than Bridget had seen from any other duellist this year. That also meant it would be painful for AJ, the force enough to leave a bruise.
At least he wasn't levitating, too. Hufflepuff had notably used the same pair of spells twice in a row now, just with different targets. It seemed the audience would be left with the burning question of who would win a while longer.
Scratch that last note. Everyone wanted to kill AJ, and apparently his own shoddy spellcasting wished to make it just that much easier for them.
He could see Lydia casting something, and he could feel the cuffs of his trousers lift slightly as if by magic, but he managed to quickly sidestep and thankfully no more came of that plan. Now it was his turn, and as we all know if there's one thing an Aberdonian Scot can do brilliantly it's pronounce things in clear, well-spoken English.
"Ebscuroo!"
Bugger...
It took a moment for AJ to realise why he was suddenly surrounded in inky blackness, only then did it click that it was in fact because he was the worst.
His smile faltered just for a moment. Luckily he didn't have long to feel sorry for himself before a particularly powerful Flipendo struck him directly in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
He gasped for air, knowing he had to get this thing off quickly otherwise there would be many more where that came from.

Aaaand she missed again.
Lydia couldn't help the frustration that she felt as she saw AJ avoid her Wingardium Leviosa; these Gryffindor boys were incredibly difficult to hit, and Lydia's mind immediately went back to her previous duel, when Pericles had been incredibly fast on his feet as well.
However, even though her spell had not hit AJ, Amadea's one did, and she couldn't help but give her partner a thumb up. Then, as she looked at the Gryffindon Captain, she noticed he was blindfolded, and for a second she got confused: who had cast the blindfolding spell at him? After a couple of seconds she realised that his spell must have backfired, and she couldn't help but feeling sorry for him: she had learned on her skin how awful a backfired spell was.
As she concentrated back on Alec, she noticed his spell flying towards her, and she managed to avoid it almost at the last second. "That was a good one!" she told him with a smile, before she concentrated on her next move.
𝓣he duel continued on. She casted her spell, aiming toward AJ. She smiled as she watched the spell hit it's mark, though she did feel badly. The rest of the spells either missed or, as Amadea watched, failed and casted upon the caster instead. Poor AJ, Amadea thought. Her knockback jinx and his own failed spell was a lot to take in one round; she knew from experience how terrible it was when a spell failed. Amadea gave a quick smile to Lydia before preparing for the next round. Raising her wand, she prepared to cast.Action: As strategized

The round hadn't quite been the best round, but it wasn't the worst out of the lot. Or at the very least that's what Alec was going with, AJ was blindfolded with a flipendo also hitting him. This round truly was not his, though it hadn't been really Alec's either. More power to the hufflepuffs Alec supposed? He'd practiced for quite a while to be prepared for this, but if they won, they'd deserve the win. This was the thought he ended on before assuming position, getting ready for the next duelling round. They had this; they were determined to win, though Alec couldn't imagine beating out of the hufflepuffs in this duell, he was going to try.Action: Doing as planned

AJ would orchestrate his own demise. The backfired Blindfolding Spell would be more than just a failure, more than an embarrassment, because it would also be what made him much too easy of a target. While he fiddled with the knot, going as fast as he could to rejoin the action, both Hufflepuffs would level their wands at him. Bridget bit her lip, having a pretty good idea of what would happen next.
He would get the blindfold off, but he would be too late. Perhaps he would catch a brief flash of blue light before both Flipendos struck him. He had almost avoided Amadea's, too. It wasn't enough. The fourth year's spell was painful, something he already knew, and yet if it hadn't been for Lydia's spell, he might have lasted a bit longer. As it was, the second year produced a truly impressive Knockback Jinx that would deal the finishing blow to the Gryffindor Captain, leaving his unconscious on the floor.
While all this happened, Alec had sent his own Flipendo at Lydia. There wasn't much in the way of spell variety this time. It would miss, though that could probably be attributed to the distraction of watching one's teammate collapse. "Stop!" she called out, ensuring the duel halted and saved AJ from any additional harm. He was swiftly removed from the stage on a stretcher.
"Alright, continue." The badgers had certainly proven themselves ruthless, a force to be reckoned with. And now Alec was all alone. Would he be able to turn this around or would he meet the same fate as his partner?
