We're Good, Right?
January 8th, 2021
After classes
At the end of one of their shared classes earlier that day, Rose had asked Henry Knight, her future step-brother to meet her in the library after classes. She wanted to catch up with him and clear up some stuff between the two of them. She didn’t want Henry to take her the wrong way and wanted to gauge his emotions towards what had happened on January third. The purpose of this meeting was to bring things between them back to normal- which was probably not going to happen, to be honest. But Rose still wanted to make sure things were okay between the two and that she hadn’t said something stupid on that night.
Their parents got engaged. It was going to be so weird- having step siblings. It still didn’t feel real that Henry was going to be her step brother sometime in the summer and they would be living together after that, as well. Rose didn’t think her mother would call off the marriage- she seemed very committed and so happy with Luke Alluring, Henry’s father. Unless Henry’s father called it off (which would break her mother’s heart), it was going to happen.
Rose had also gotten into a horrible fight with her mother. She had yelled at her mother, invalidated her, and told her she wasn’t good enough. Which Rose knew was mean, but she had decided it wasn’t as mean as her mother neglecting her little sister for months. There was so much to worry about nowadays- grades, family, fights, friends, enemies- you name it. Rose could barely curl up with a good book anymore. Yes. It was that bad.
Anyway, Rose was there first, tucked in a back corner that would be easy enough for Henry to find, trying to sort through all of this as she watched the snow drift down to the ground.

Technically speaking after classes ended, the twelve year old was in the library which wasn't unusual for the boy but ever since the winter holiday the second year was definitely spending more time in the library than he should be.
Putting his books back in it's spot, the twelve year old remembered that Rose ask to meet there probably to discuss their parent's engagement which is currently his least favorite topic that was imaginable. Henry would place his message type bag over his shoulder and walk through the library looking for Rose, not completely sure that the red head was there yet.
His thoughts tended to wander, as Henry remembered before the dinner meeting with Rose's family how only days before on Christmas when Henry sent out a few owls to his friends containing Christmas gifts; Rose was on of them. Remembering how he gave the red head; a small crochet cat, an friendship bracelet with the colors red and green that matched his own since he remembered Rose saying she didn't mind having on with him, an gryffindor jacket that had the words; Rose Moon, Gryffindor dueler sewed onto the front, and finally a little crown hat for her cat Chaska. The memories still in his head since only days after both of their lives change.
Walling past the librarian, Henry would smile toward her as he spoke " hello professor Finley," only to get a similar greeting from her as he continued deeper in the library.
Having already been there for a while, it wasn't that hard to walk toward the back of the library where a desk sat in an corner which was where he found Rose Moon.
Taking a breath before pushing back a few strands of hair as Henry walked toward Rose, stopping at the chair opposite of her as he spoke " hey," before taking a seat opposite of her and placing his messager type bag on the ground as he spoke " so I can imagine why you wanted to meet. This isn't that awkward right?"

Rose looked up at Henry, making short eye contact before he sat down across from her. He looked okay, though maybe a little worried and anxious, an expression all too common for the young Slytherin. Rose looked relieved as he sat across from her, not seeming to be hesitant or cautious around her. Good. She wanted him to keep trusting her- that was what friends are for. She gave him a small smile, and greeted him, “Hey. I didn’t get a chance to thank you for your present you sent me, by the way. I really did appreciate all of it- it was so thoughtful of you.” He asked whether this was awkward or not. Well, yeah. Yeah, it kind of was awkward. It was only a couple of days into the second half of the school year, and they still hadn’t found time to see each other, so Rose had picked one of her okay days to force herself to salvage their friendship.
Rose blushed, laughing a little. Yeah, she wasn’t surprised Henry had guessed why she had asked to meet him. “I mean- well-” she paused, gathering her thoughts so that she could sound like a civilized human being instead of a stammering idiot. “I just wanted to clear things up and didn’t want us to start avoiding each other because it was awkward and stuff. I really value your friendship and I don’t ever want anything to get in the way of that. I really, really don’t want any awkwardness between the two of us, especially if it’s something we had no control over,” she said, trying to keep her rambling to a minimum so that she could hear what he wanted to say. She didn’t want to talk over him or be impolite in any way, especially because she knew he kept some things to himself a lot, even if they were important or needed to be said. Rose never wanted to hinder that in any way, especially not talking over him.

Henry sat across from the red head that he first met in the quidditch stands and bonded over creatures and traveling and dead parents. The red head that he got detention with over seven cauldrons exploding along with five other students. The red head that owns a cat whom his cat loves to play with. The red head that he was partnered up with in potions class that day he was having an bad day and gave her advice. The red head that was a dueler and second year like himself. The red head that he considered a close friend.
The red head whom only had one parent like himself. The red head who was close with their siblings like he was with his older brother. The red head whom he went over to their house during Christmas holiday. The red head whose mother is engaged with his father. The red head destined to become his step sister.
Henry was snapped out of his thoughts from her words and nodded a bit with a smile remembering the gifts that she sent him before speaking "yeah right, no problem your my friend so. Uh anyway thanks for the gifts you sent me and Loki also, I never got to thank you either and their bloody brilliant." Giving her a smile as she started talking about their parents engagement, he didn't want things to he awkward between them. He really didn't because he saw her as a friend, an close friend and didn't want to lose such a amazing friend.
Henry just nodded a bit since he wasn't that awkward with discussing the topic anymore at least not after having talk with Logan about it. Henry met with his best friend as soon as they returned and told her everything so he wasn't as awkward with discussing it but still pretty awkward probably why he spent probably all of his time with the hufflepuff since returning. He was either with Logan or in the library now on most days.
"I agree. I don't want to avoid you either or lose our friendship because your an amazing person and brilliant friend that I can never imagine losing. And your right we have no control over all of this so why let those things ruin our friendship," Henry spoke and felt the shift in the air so after a breath or so the boy would push a few strands of hair from his face before awkwardly speaking " so are or can we tell others? Like one or two close friends but that's all or are we going to keep it to ourselves for now?" Henry chose to tell Rose about him telling Logan after he heard her answer to the question as his anxiety was working overtime at the moment.

When Henry thanked her and complimented her in the same breath, Rose wasn't sure whether to thank him or tell him 'you're welcome,' so she went for both- "No problem, I knew you would love them. And thank you, I hoped you would like them- I didn't know if Loki tolerated costumes or not. Whenever I put Chaksa in one, she walks around like she rules the world because she's so gorgeous and- well, you know how she is," Rose explained with a smirk.
Rose was proud of herself for tackling the conversation she knew they needed to have, but only for a moment. Normally she would bat around the important things, but this time, she was getting right to the point and destroying any awkwardness between the two of them. And her being proud of herself almost lasted, but then it dissipated with the realization that this was what any good person or friend would do. If she hadn't done it, she would just be more of a horrible person being terribly anxious and avoiding important things, and maybe even destroying one of her most valuable friendships. Rose told herself to not hype herself up over doing what was right and what was the decent thing to do. So she didn't, smothering the pride that had come from her doing the right thing.
She smiled a little at his compliment of her character, glad he was kind enough to say something like that, even if she didn't believe him in the slightest. "Thank you- same with you, of course. You're so intelligent and supportive, I wouldn't want to leave our friendship in the dust just because of our parents."
Rose hadn't told anyone about this yet. Well, Eyre had been there, so he had known, but other than that, she hadn't told anyone about her mother being engaged, or her getting into a fight with her mother, and she didn't intend to. With a shrug, she said, "You can tell whoever you want, I'm good with that. I haven't yet, but I don't think I'll parade it around, so no worries on that, though," she told him honestly. She shrugged again. "Tell who you wanna tell, I really don't mind." She really didn't. There was something about it that didn't feel... real yet. Something about it felt like it was a hallucination or a dream they had both shared, and it didn't really matter. But the owls from Rose's mother that she had started ignoring were still real. And the owls from Jess that occasionally talked about their mother going on a date were definitely real. It hadn't been fair to bomb all the information on Rose all at once, and then send her away to Hogwarts to be detached from it, away from it, still wondering if it was even happening.
The redhead was glad they had cleared up all of this, a little relieved their opinions on what had happened weren't clashing. "Plus, living in the same house should bring people together, right? It usually does." Usually. Oh, there was always a reason for some kind of exception, so Rose added that last part. She hoped that it would bring the two of them, as well as their siblings closer together.
She wanted to change the subject now. "Anyway, I'm auditioning for the Frog Choir soon- are you?"

When Rose replied to him and mentioned their cats and how they tolerated costumes, Henry has to think for a moment before speaking " Chaska sounds like a queen when you put her in a costume. Loki doesn't mind them much, he doesn't really care if you put a costume on him except if it's a hat. He doesn't mind the hats, just I think Loki finds it amusing to take it off and leave it somewhere around the house," pausing for a moment to remember where Loki left his hat that went with the costume that Rose sent before speaking " I remember when I put him in the costume that you sent Rose, he didn't mind it except he did leave the hat in bath luckily there wasn't any water in it," smiling a bit as the awkward and friendly conversation continued.
Smiling a bit at her compliment but not saying much since getting compliments himself felt rather odd toward the boy almost like talking about his feelings or love. When the conversation continued about telling others, the twelve year stuttered out, " Merlin's beard I won't tell the bloody whole school," however the boy started thinking about a few days ago when he told Logan then that morning when he told Alexa but that was it as the boy spoke " I only told two, Logan Baird and Alexa Mackenzie and that's it," before a shy smile broke out on his lips as he spoke " if you don't mind me asking, did you tell anyone Rose?"
As the conversation continue and Henry heard her comment about brushed a few strands of his hair away as he spoke " yeah that's true, I guess," before thinking about how his older brother was staying in a apartment with three of his Auror buddies and how Henry was going to stay with him for a week or two while he spoke a bit shyly, " my brother moved out a few months ago and now lives with a few of his auror buddies in a apartment. I was going to stay with him for a week or two before well, the engagement...."
Feeling the awkward set in again as Henry lightly tapped his pants and hoped this moment will pass which it did when he heard Rose's comment and replied with a smile, " yeah I am, your auditioning to? Wicked! Did you find a song yet? I'm still looking..."

We're Good, Right?
Rose smiled, laughing at Henry's description of Loki and his behavior. She nodded. "I can totally see that," she said. This. This was what this was. This was what their friendship, their emotional connection was. This was who they were, at their core. Two kids in a big world who needed each other and understood each other, and would stick by each other's side no matter what. Rose didn't know what she had been worrying about. Nothing, not even their parents would get between the friendship they had.
It had felt good to laugh, too.
He commented on he wasn't going to tell the whole school. "No, no, that's not- that's not what I meant at all," she told him. "I know you wouldn't tell a whole lot of people, that's not- that's not what I meant by that, I worded that wrong. Sorry."
Rose was unsure of what to say when he asked her if she had told anyone. Because really, she hadn't. It had only been a couple days, and she hadn't wanted to weigh anything down on anyone. Well, she had told Eyre since he had been there within the next twenty-four hours, and she still didn't know what to do with herself and how she was going to live with a whole new family inside her family. "Just Eyre," she answered honestly. "I don't know, it's not like it's come up in conversation since then with anyone else."
Henry then told her about going to live with his brother, or at least plans to go live with his brother in the summer. "That's amazing, Henry," she replied with a warm smile. She meant it. "I bet you'll still be able to go and that you two will have a great time." Rose paused, crossing her legs. She didn't know if she should voice her next thought, but she decided it wouldn't hurt. "Arthur is really kind. I can see why you look up to him so much. I would too if he was my big brother." Technically, he would be her big brother come summer. These things felt so weird to even think about. She would be getting yet another two brothers and a sister in the summer. Legally, of course. Not by blood.
"Really?" she said, interest sparking in her eyes. "I didn't know you were a choir kind of guy. I haven't chosen a song, no. I did find this one song that would be better as a duet, though, but I'm still searching for a song just for myself."

We're Good, Right?
@Rose Moon
Henry smiled a bit at her comment with a small nod wondering silently to himself if this was how kids hung out and chatted with friends in the park or library or other places that he heard about but never experienced before Hogwarts.
Smiling at Rose as the twelve year old saw that they had a special sorts of friendship that won't be broken as something like their parents engagement or something like a crush. Their friendship was something that was formed over time and would last for years only to grow stronger throughout time which was increasing the pressure that the second year should tell the red head. That the twelve year old should tell the red head his biggest and most crucial secret.. that he was a werewolf still a part of him was worried like in every situation where he told someone that what is she had prejudiced against werewolves.
Not letting those concerns or his anxiety block his view, the second year smiled toward the red head as he nodded toward her words. Before quickly nodding as the boy knew he shouldn't have blurted out that he won't tell the whole school but on the other hand couldn't keep it in as he quickly spoke" no it's okay, I knew what you met! Its just- uh I shouldn't have said it.. mental really since either of us would probably tell the whole school- and uh," Henry fell silence as he really didn't want things it be awkward between them but didn't know what else to say exactly.
As the conversation continued and Henry heard the red head speak to the relief of the second year. He listened to her and found that whole she told Eyre and he told Logan Baird and Alexa Mackenzie that was now three people who knew... three people wasn't bad plus Logan was his best friend and he wasn't going to keep this from her and Alexa... Alexa was a close friend whom he may harbor a crush on but didn't know it yet..
"So only Logan, Eyre, and Alexa know. Three isn't terrible and your right it's not something easily brought up in conversations," Henry spoke with a small smile before pushing a few strands of hair from his face and trying to find something else to talk about or change the topic before their conversation became awkward which will probably lead to the interaction becoming awkward which was the situation that played in the boy's head supporting his anxiety not that he showed any of this to Rose since the twelve year old has had anxiety for years now and used to it which meant he knew how to both handle and also hide it.
The topic changed again and Henry felt himself smile as Rose's comment which gave him almost like a warm or comforting feeling ad Henry just nodded with a smile before listening to the red head continue, looking into her rather courageous green eyes.
Before the girl could speak again, Henry would feel his smile grow as he jumped in to speak" perhaps toward the end of the holiday I'll get to go depending how everything goes with the marriage and other things," The second year didn't want to think of his future and his father marrying during the summer holiday not time mention moving. They were going to have to move again.. for the third time since their home Liverpool was suitable for a family of three or four but definitely not for a family of nine or ten which was something the boy didn't want to dwell on.
Plus his brother was living with a few of his auror training buddies and Henry was uncertain about the amount of space in that apartment and also if there was a good time for the twelve year old to go there and stay with them.
However the second year got pulled from his thoughts upon hearing Rose's comment and his heartbeat stopped as his tongue became twisted and mind started swimming with thoughts unable to respond.
After a few minutes, the twelve year old would take a deep breath before finally speaking" uh- yeah he is among his other qualities I guess," Henry would probably add a few words such as; brave, mature, courageous, intelligent, independent, responsible, outspoken, kind and perhaps one or to more but instead didn't as the second year continued" it was a small family so Arthur and I just bonded I guess," again leaving out how his father was never around or in the boy's opinion cared after their mum died.
Henry would continued his smile as he spoke" that's sweet but your siblings are great to, Franklin seems like a great and intelligent role model," Besides from his strange liking with Anna, which was true since normally the girl was rather mean toward everyone especially to her brothers. Pushing away from toward thoughts as the second year spoke again" and it's not blood, but he'll be your step siblings so," Henry gave a goofy smile toward Rose for a minute before adding" and anyway I'm sure your a great sister to, toward your younger siblings and also older."
Henry smiled toward the girl still at both awe and disbelief at how many siblings the girl has however the conversation moved on and how it was about the frog choir. Henry would let out a small laugh before speaking with a smile,
" yeah, I took voice lessons with me twin when we were younger mainly because our father wanted us to but I guess it just stuck and now I enjoy singing," giving the girl a quick smile before thinking about songs but sadly didn't find out yet since he didn't like any of the wizarding songs that he found so far and the muggle ones that he heard of didn't fit either.
"I didn't find a song yet either, it's just so hard to find something that fits your voice and also would make a good choir audition song not to mention the nerves I'm feeling about auditioning," Henry spoke thinking how most songs rarely fit his voice since he's a male with a high treble voice which was a odd combination not to mention the nerves and worry he was feeling from it... sometimes wondering if he should just skip the audition...

We're Good, Right?
"Yeah, neither of us would do that," Rose said with a quiet laugh, trying to lighten up the conversation. More likely than not, it would work. Their misunderstanding was awkward for a moment, but Rose let it pass by changing the subject.
Rose nodded, not really having anything to add to his comment about only a certain number of people and summing up who exactly knew. Again, it was still hard to believe that this had really even happened, so it was very strange to tell other people about it. She wasn't going to go around telling the entire school, but she didn't really want to tell anybody at all. It wasn't like anyone had asked her, "Hey, did your mother get engaged over the Holiday Break?" To which Rose would say yes, as she thought being honest was important. It could have been worsened by the fact that she had fought with her mom over it. Well, mostly over other things, but also because of her new future step-father. Rose was still trying to come to terms over all of this, and she wasn't quite sure she was ready to tell anyone. Eyre had been there within the day that it had happened, and they were always honest with each other, so Rose had told him right then, while it was still fresh in her mind. It would probably have helped to tell someone, so Rose was most likely just making her situation worse by doing so.
Once again, Rose didn't feel anything she could say about Henry's next comments were super important to the conversation, so she simply nodded instead of voicing anything. She usually did this when she didn't think any reply from her would do any good, anyway. She was usually a quiet person, and this was included in that. Simple nods were more effective in saying she agreed than wasting her words and bringing up a chance she could start rambling even when the subject never really mattered.
But him talking about Frankie, she had something to add. "He is really smart. It's no wonder he got into Ravenclaw. He thinks about everything in depth and is very detail-oriented. You remind me a lot of him, actually. Other than your confidence levels, nothing phases him at all," she laughed, trying to keep her volume down as they were in the library. She smiled gratefully at Henry. "Thank you. I bet you're an amazing brother to your siblings as well." Her expression was teasing as she leaned back in her chair and said, "You're too nice, Henry, you compliment me so much." Rose laughed again, her smile reaching her eyes, meaning it really was a true smile. Henry was really good at complimenting people and making Rose feel good about herself. Or, at least, not as bad about herself. He always knew the right things to say, and she was grateful for his consistent verbal support. A lot of the time, it helped to drill those things in her head. She was lucky. She was a good friend. She was a good sister. She didn't always believe him, but sometimes, she almost did. Maybe one day he would tell her something and she would thank him, believing it with all her heart.
That day will not be anytime soon.
Rose nodded, and an idea came into her head. She almost, almost just pushed it away without a second thought. But... Henry liked singing. And so did Rose. Rose would bet more than anything that Henry would really love to be in the Frog Choir, and if he ended up not going because she hadn't encouraged him with the idea, Rose would feel bad forever. Plus, she was really scared of going and messing up, as well. Maybe... Wouldn't both of them feel more comfortable doing something they were both terrified to do...
Together?
"No, you deserve to be in the Frog Choir if you really want to," Rose spoke up, forcing herself to voice her idea, though timidly. "What- what do you think about doing a duet together? It might be impressive if we do harmonies and stuff... Maybe it would help the both of us to be a little less scared when we sing...?" It was clear she didn't have a lot of confidence in this idea, and she wouldn't force Henry to do it if he didn't want to. Just an idea. Just something to put out there as a possibility.

Henry nodded to her comment before looking at the table slightly as his eyes then lingered to books. The one thing that the twelve year old child find comfort it, books has always been there for him and they never lied or broke promises. It was one of the things in the world that Henry Knight could trust and depend on.
The boy would gaze at the cover titles as his mind drifted to if the whole school knew a thought that the boy would have rather not thought about but couldn't ignore due to his anxiety. His face remained emotionless.
The whole school knowing! Sounds like a bloody nightmare.... embarrassment... anxiety... Something that a normal person would hide in their dormitory but not me because my dorm mates will tease me or worse over it... Snape boys... a odd bunch that is... but the whole school finding out if that happened then I will probably actually not come back.... this place isn't my home and if not being embarrassed or teased at is the factor here then I'll stay home...
But forget the rest knowing.... some people can be bloody idiots anyway.... wait? Did Rose's siblings tell anyone? Does anyone know because of them? Bloody hell! My life is ruined or will be or is... or uh... bloody hell!
Prehaps Arthur is wrong and there isn't a good side to this! He was yelling at him before left... what would change his bloody mind! This is horrible! All of it... there's too much that could wrong... everything can go wrong... not to mention moving... again... three times... perfect! Amazing! Because I want to pack my life up and ruin friendships again... I want to relive the stress, anxiety, and loneliness again...
Snapping out of his thoughts at the sound of Rose's voice and turning his head to meet her eyes with his blue ones. Henry only nodded with a smile to each of her comments, when she was finished a idea popped inside his head as the boy lifted his bag onto his lap and took out a few items before asking Rose, " since were going to be step siblings anyway soon, I have these pictures in my bag if you want to see them."
The twelve year old would pass the red head the photos, some moved while others didn't. It was a odd mixed of muggle and wizard photos which all usually were in his photo album in his dormitory but that day a few laid in his bag.
Some he didn't even know were there in the first place while others he placed there.
Each picture who have a date and a brief description on the back of it.
The first picture would only hold two words; Ivy Knight
The second picture would say on the back; Henry hanging out with Scarlett A. - 8 years old
The third picture would say; Henry and Arthur goofing around with glasses - Henry is 6 and Arthur is 13
The fourth picture would say; Henry and Logan messing around a few days before Halloween at Hogwarts - 11 years old
The fifth picture would have on the back the following words; Arthur giving final advice to me before I started my first year - Arthur is 17 years old
The sixth picture will then have the words; Henry and Logan after finishing exams and first year ready to start the summer holiday - 12 years old
The seventh picture would feature a girl in a quidditch shirt supporting a team however the name was too small to read while the boy was in a far too long shirt with the ministry logo followed by some small words with the words on the back; Henry and Annabeth two months before their eleventh birthday - 10 years old
The eighth picture would have the following words on the back; Henry and Annabeth exploring London - 9 years old
The ninth picture would have the words on the back; Henry hanging out with Arthur before his 5th year - Henry is 8 and Arthur is 15
The tenth picture would have the following words on the back; Henry and Annabeth looking for creatures in the woods near their house - 7 years old
As their conversation continued and Rose mention the frog choir, the second year smiled a bit still not completely used to compliments as he spoke" you deserve to be on the frog choir as well, I bet your voice is beautiful Rose," a smile toward her before hearing her question about doing a duet with him.
A duet! Is she seriously! I could mess it up and ruin both of our chances! I can't! I won't! But..
No! I can't mess up Rose's chance to be in the frog choir as well! But what if... no! I can't! Or should I....
Still staring at the girl as thoughts floated through his mind before the second year spoke" a duet sounds fun and their are definitely opportunities there but Rose are you sure? Doing a duet with? Are you sure because I can mess it up for you and are you sure you wouldn't rather do it with someone else, someone better?"
