The Gryffindor whipped around. "Oh, I told him-" She interrupted, rejecting Pericles sheepishness with a peeved look. Not that she knew beforehand, that he was the one who made the "No Cats" rule. "And do you know what he said? He told me to tell you, that he never much liked you anyways. Those are his exact words." She stated, nodding as she did so. Pericles would offer up the idea of introducing Schrödinger to future choir practices, with a little patience of course. Xailah rolled her head from side to side, feeling the suggestion around in her head. Perhaps. The young bird would then go on to explain why the rule had been enforced in the first place, basically stating that his own feline- Athena- was to blame. It would seem she didn't take kindly to seeing her keeper feed the other critters. Thanks Athena. And to that, Xailah laughed. She never took the pale feline for being the jealous sort, despite envy being a particularly common trait amongst pets. "Cat sssnacks? They don't look particularly tasty." She stated matter-of-factly; though she supposed the uncertainty of felines attempting t0 eat defenseless amphibians, was a reasonable excuse to make rules. A flick of gold wavered towards the frog-bins. It was better to be safe than sorry. "Schrödinger also said that he might forgive you. But he doesn't know just yet." A indecisive hum. It was followed with a sigh. She would seek to brush away the funny shade that had befallen the boy. "Imagine for a moment-" Her hands spread to the sides, in unseen revelation. "Frog and Cat choir. Think of the possibilities, Pericles." She was quite convinced that she was on to something there.

Another student would join Xailah at the bins. A Slytherin. One she knew. Sort of. The lioness and serpent were strangers really, though one might think differently based on how the lion spoke. Her talk with the girl, was very casual. The snake would ask about the Gryffindors cat. Xailah thought nothing of how the girl might have known the feline. "No." The prefect replied plainly. "Someone-" Not to name any names or anything... She chanced a glance back at Pericles, "said that cats were not allowed to attend." She then offered the girl a shrug, as she watched her snake an arm into the bin. Santario would produce a glorious fro- toad, from the container. She then proceeded to rub the thing on her nose. It was a cute sight, truly. But slightly bizarre as well. Was the nose booping part of the partner-picking process? "You two seem to know each other well. What have you dubbed this one?" Xailah offered the beginnings of a smile. Somehow, this triggered something- a reminder. It was completely unrelated to frogs... or singing. In fact it was hardly relevant at all. Xailah leaned slightly towards Santario, as if to shield others from hearing. "This might not be the place for it, but I wanted to thank you for what you did at the campfire." She whispered hurriedly, before scooting away. Weird. It was the truth though. She was very thankful for Santarios selflessness, and the things she had to say.

Movement on the Slytherins shoulder, would catch the attention of cattish eyes. A peculiar creature would be spied. Xailah thought it was a small dragon at first, but then she saw the lack of wings on its back. A dragon tamer at age twelve? An impressive feat. "Who is this?" She asked; pointing to the funny little lizard, that had been peeping out from behind a curtain of silky, black, locks. As the lion and snake conversed, a note would be made about the quiet instruction, and small talk in the background. Were the auditions already starting? It would seem that way. Two students would go first. The lioness would promptly turn towards them, upon hearing their chatter. Xailah recognized one of the two- the girl. Never caught her name, but she saw the girl around. Usually when passing through the common room. Xailah would halt her search for an amphibious companion, to watch the audition. She didn't know the song the two sang, but it was nice. "They're good." She murmured, to no one in particular. They must have known each other well- or, were well rehearsed at the very least- considering their synchronization was splendid.

Rose was ready to get the audition over with, so she interrupted Henry voicing his doubts by pulling him by his wrist towards Pericles. She did feel a little bad forcing him into it before he was really ready, but Rose knew that if she didn’t go now to do the audition, she might never do it. And that wasn’t fair to Henry, either. Maybe she was just a horrible friend, because neither of them were really fair to Henry. Rose shook the thought away, out of her mind. She couldn’t be contemplating their entire friendship when they were about to do an audition together.

All this to say, Rose’s internal problems are very peculiar.

When they were singing, everyone was watching. Everyone could hear them. And Rose had been so cons

They rocked their audition. Well, Rose knew that Henry rocked their audition, but she was still a little insecure in her own performance. But, to be honest, she felt they both deserved a place in the Frog Choir, and their amphibian friends as well.

“I- I’m sorry for pushing you into doing it first,” she apologized bashfully. “I just thought- I knew if we didn’t do it then, we might never have done it.” She then turned Squirt around on her hand, speaking to him as well, and patting him on the head. He hadn’t let her down in their performance, and Rose doubted he would. “You performed brilliantly, Mr. Squirt. It is an honor to sing with you.” A croak came out of him in reply. Rose’s attention and eyes flicked to the frog that Henry was holding (almost tentatively?) in his hands. She asked, “Who’s this little guy? Does he have a name yet?”

As Pericles greeted her, she gave him an extra smile with a bit of a playful nose wrinkle with it. “I wouldn’t miss it on pain of death.” There were so few people who got to see the more playful side of Santario, but this was definitely one of the places it came out. Duellists knew her as guiding but strict. Directions were usually softly spoken in close quarters, a tactic she used to force them to listen harder and help it stick faster. It was not appreciated by all, but it worked, and that is what mattered. She was dedicated to her craft, and she was known to be one of the first to arrive at practices and the last to leave, usually more exhausted than the others.

Those who knew her from classes or common areas knew her as quiet and speaking only when necessary. She would often be seen with either a book or a camera in her hand when she was seen. She kept to herself, and those she held close not really known for making a lot of friends, especially within her own house. Then you had another rare form of people like Xail who knew her as helpful. Despite the usual silent observer with the cold exterior reputation she had, Santario was almost always willing to help. Especially if someone was hurt or in danger. While San was the type to go out of the way to harm people who had wronged her, she did not condone harm or violence for no reason.

Santario offered a nod to Starlee as she situated Mr. Toadsworth in her arms. “Yes, they sure are.” Her attention turned back to Xail as she was addressed once more, explaining the cat's failed appearance with the unique meow. “Well, tell him he is missed. I met him once last year during the Gryffindor Ravenclaw dodgeball game. He was watching while you played.” Of course, she also would have seen the two together when they were in the castle. As she inquired about the toad now nestled happily in her arms, she smiled and gave him a few strokes on the top of his head with her index finger. But really, before she could adequately formulate and answer, Xail leaned in and whispered hastily before scooting away.

Santario offered her a knowing smile and one word as a response. “Anytime.” It was something that Santario truly meant as well. If she was needed, she would help if she could. Bringing the conversation back to things in the present, she would answer Xail’s initial question. “This is Mr. Toadsworth. We got to work together last year, and I try to visit him a few times a week when I can.” The little girdled lizard had become curious about the older girl that Santario conversed with and was spotted. As she was addressed, the little lizard pulled back into the protective folds of the Slytherin’s hair.

At this point, Henry and Rose would take the lead and start off the auditions. She would have clapped for them if she had her hands free; instead, she opted for a, “Well done!” Santario would now put her hand up to her shoulder while doing her best to look at it. “This is Kahlan. I got her over the summer, but she is terribly shy sometimes. I have got her, and Mr. Toadsworth acclimated with each other. Come on now, little lady, no need to be scared.” The last sentence was spoken gently to the small Lizard, who slowly crawled onto Santario’s hand. She would very gently deposit her onto the back of Mr. Toadsworth. “I’m going to go do my audition real quick, but then we can see if Kahlan will let you hold her. She’s usually pretty good with people I’m comfortable with.” Comfortable was a strong word for her relationship with Xail… Or lack thereof. But Santario wasn’t on edge with her, and that was what really mattered.

With that, Santario would take herself to the front of the gathering and clear her throat. “Greetings, for those who do not know me, I am Santario Martin, a Second year Slytherin. This is Mr. Toadsworth, who will be accompanying me today.” With that, she took one final swallow to make sure that her vocal cords were lubricated and started. Santario had a Mezzo-Soprano range, but she tended to lean towards the lower notes.

This is not a voice claim but it is within her proper range.

Santario took a deep breath and closed her eyes the toe of her shoe tapping silently against the ground to keep time as she started. Santario’s silvery voice started out almost as a whisper but still holding an intensity to be heard by everyone in the room if they were paying attention. It would be clear through the performance that this was a song that somehow resonated with her.
I've always been a hunter
Nothing on my tail
But there was something in you
I knew could make that change
To capture a predator
You can't remain the prey
You have to become
An equal
In every way
So look in the mirror
And tell me, who do you see?
Is it still you?

Santario’s eyes opened and fiercely gazed out.
Or is it me?
*Croak*

A deep croak from the cane toad in her hands sounded just after she finished the line as if to help emphasize. As she continued her voice got louder and grew more intense.
Become the beast
We don't have to hide
Do I terrify you
Or do you feel alive?

Do you feel the hunger
Does it howl inside?
Does it terrify you?
Or do you feel alive?

*Coooooooaaaaaak*

Santario’s voice slowly lilted back to hushed tones as she continued swaying just slightly back and forth with the rhythm of the song. Even Mr. Toadsworth and the little lizard that sat on his back seemed to follow the rhythm with small movements.
Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

So embrace the darkness
And I will help you see
That you can be limitless
And fearless
If you follow me

We are the lions
In a world of lambs
We are the predators

The hunters
The hunters
The hunters

Santario’s voice crescendoed.
Become the beast
We don't have to hide
Do I terrify you?
Or do you feel alive?

Do you feel the hunger
Does it howl inside?
Does it terrify you?
Or do you feel alive?

*Croooooaaaaak*

As Santario continued on her eyes closed once more and she sang in almost a chant while keeping the lyrical properties of the song.
Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

Splinters of my soul
Cut through your skin
And burrow within
And burrow within

Finally, her eyes opened once more gazing at anyone who was also looking at her.
Do you feel the hunger
Does it howl inside?
Does it terrify you?
Or do you feel alive?

*Croak*

Mr. Toadsworth helped finish the song with as soft of a croak as the deep bass toad could do. Santario would give a slight bow of her head. “Thank you.” She would say before walking back towards Xail not waiting for any recognition from anyone.

Henry would have preferred to wait to audition so he wasn't first but definitely not audition last as well since that would likely cause him to have his anxiety increase over as well but the twelve year old didn't care that he went first. Still holding the rather small spotted toad on his hand right hand which was completely flat and still almost like the second year was caution of the frog.

Henry wasn't afraid of the frog.. toad and actually like the spotted toad in his hand just like how he had a joy for all creatures or animals no matter if they were magical or not. It was just the way that Henry way holding the spotted toad plus his anxiety was rising a bit during their audition so his hand took most of it.

Speaking of the audition, Henry couldn't get his mind of the fact that he hoped they boy did could and got a spot on the frog choir. Now his anxiety found a new thing to worry and fret about however the boy would hide these feelings from the red head as he spoke " Don't worry Rose, I'm actually glad you made us go first. I should be thanking you now, right?" Laughing a little before quieting up as he heard the girl call her toad a name.

Wait... are we suppose to name the toads?

Quickly looking at his toad and trying to come up with a name as quickly as he could. His mind was listing out different names, places, events, dates, historical figures, literary anything and everything to try and name his singing partner. The twelve year old thought the frogs/toads would already have names and that they wouldn't have to name them.

Hearing Rose's question and feeling his anxiety rise trying to figure out a name the second year spoke " that's a adorable name Rose, did you name him or was that his name already?" A moment for her to answer before the second year thought of a name that sounded good at least in the twelve year old's a head.

" This is Ulysses," Henry spoke toward Rose holding up his spotted toad toward the girl with a small smile on his face before his stomach did a flip and his anxiety increased at the sight of his dueling co captain's words in which Henry spoke to her " uh, thanks and good luck Santario!"

Starlee continued her search through the tub of frogs when she finally saw it. A cute little black toad with unique white markings all across its... well... skin? Starlee wasn't quite certain what to call its scaley surface, but she could tell by the excitable little fella that he could certainly match her energy. She picked the little guy up, holding him with her two palms side by side, close to her face as she said, "Well now, aren't you quite the jumpy one?" The frog then did a cute little wiggle and hop on her hands, and Starlee giggled. "Then... whad-do-ya-say you be my singing partner for my audition? Give you a little test run, eh?" it seemed the frog agreed with its ecstatic movements, but before Starlee could continue, one of the auditions began.

A girl, who she did not know, and Henry came together and performed a wonderful duet. Starlee clapped rather loudly as the two finished and Starlee began to realize that this may be a lot more intense than she initially thought. She hoped the piece that she chose would be alright... "Wow, nice job you two!" She beamed, as then Santario walked up to begin performing her piece.

Wow, it was another stunning job. Starlee's eyes were so glued to the girl and her mesmerizing voice, that she almost dropped her soon-to-be toad partner. He made a low croak in anger, but his and her attention quickly returned to the girl. Her toad seemed to croak along at the perfect times and Starlee thought that the two had to have practiced this before. Again, it was another stunning performance, and Starlee clapped rather loudly. "That was amazinggg Santario, I could really feel the emotion there!" she said to Santario as she retreated from the center of the room. She was surprised the dueling co-captain could have such a passionate artistic side, and Starlee couldn't help but smile at her.

Well, it was now or never in Starlee's eyes, and she whispered to her little toady friend, "Okay there, little guy, you ready to do this with me?" He hopped, and she took a deep breath as she made her way up to the front of the group.

"Hiya everyone! I'm Starlee Kennedy... A first-year Slytherin." she said this less confidently than she normally would, her nerves beginning to kick in. "This little guy doesn't have a name yet... but... I think he can do this song with me well!" The little toad hopped in her hand and Starlee took herself another deep breath as she prepared her vocal cords for her song.

Wake up in the morning feelin' like Merlin
Grab my glasses, I'm out the door, I'm gonna hit this city
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Butterbeer
'Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back

*Croak Croooooaaaak*

The little toad hopped along to the beat of her singing.

I'm talkin' pedicure on our toes, toes *Croak*
Tryin' on all our clothes, clothes *Croak*
Boys blowin' up our wands, wands *Croak*
Drop-toppin', playin' our favorite gobstones
Pullin' up to the parties
Tryna get a little bit wicked

*Croooooaaaak*

Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight,
*Croak* I'ma fight *Croak*
Till we see the sunlight *Croak Croak*
Tick tock on the clock
But the party don't stop, no
Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*
Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*
Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight,
*Croak* I'ma fight *Croak*
Till we see the sunlight *Croak Croak*
Tick tock on the clock
But the party don't stop, no
Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*
Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*

Throughout the song, the little toad was hop-hopping and Starlee's head was bobbing side to side. The song continued in a similar manner, with her confidence rising more and more as she got into it.

Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*
Oh, whoa, whoa, oh *CROAK*
*Croak Croak CROAK!*

Starlee took a deep breath as she finished, and bowed to all the people in the room. Perhaps it wasn't the most usual choice, but poppy, bubbly songs were what she liked best, and she wanted to do her best.

She would then step away from the center of the room. She held her little toady up high and whispered, "Oh yes, I think you are definitely the one."
OOC: Feel free to treat this as some sort of 'Wizard Pop Song' along the lines of the Weird Sisters. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a toad sing Ke$ha with me

Rose blushed as she was congratulated on her performance, thanking both @Santario Martin and @Starlee Kennedy with a bashful smile. "Thank you."

She then turned to Henry, smirking. "I'm the one who should be thanking you! You rocked that and I would have been a lot more absolutely terrified if you hadn't humored me and that duet idea." Not wanting to get into an argument over who was more amazing, Rose added, smiling, "I guess we can just thank each other, though."

Rose thought they had done pretty good on their audition, but she still had tension inside of her worrying about whether they would actually get in or not. She could be partners with Squirt and sing with him all the time at the Frog Choir, or this could be the last time she even saw the little toad. That was kind of sad to think about. There was no guarantee that they were getting in the Frog Choir. Telling Rose that her voice was horrible and she would drag the entire group down with her horrible voice was just as easy as sparking her interest in the club in the first place. All too easy.

"I named him that." It had been kind of a spur of the moment kind of thing. She came in, picked a partner, named the little guy, and did her audition. Done. Rose was not the kind of person to procrastinate things if she was already there and could do it. She would, most of the time, just take the dive and do the thing that was right there, waiting for her to do. And so, she had named the toad because it had just felt right. The redhead blushed. "It might be a bad habit of mine, but I like naming things. I don't think these guys have names yet, so I chose one for my possible partner. He just looks like a guy that would be named Squirt to me." Squirt the toad, who was still sitting on her hand very peacefully, gave a croak as if in agreement to this, and Rose smiled. "If he already has a name, Squirt can be his middle name. Or maybe one of his nicknames."

A smile couldn't help but appear on her face as he told her the name of the frog or toad in his hands. "Ulysses is a fabulous name. It's incredibly fitting. Henry Knight and his amphibian partner Ulysses."

Some people were really talented in the area of singing. Like Santario. And Starlee. Her and Starlee had met briefly when they were helping to clean some cats in an errand, but Rose wasn't sure if the girl recognized her. She didn't know Santario, but Henry had mentioned her name, so Rose was fairly sure that was what her name was. She applauded both Santario and Starlee as they finished their auditions. Wow, they really were absolutely amazing. It felt a little more comfortable now, knowing that other people were going and their voices were not perfect, either. But they still rocked the songs they were singing, even if Rose had never heard of either of them.

Once both girls were done singing (Rose didn't want to interrupt or disrespect them), Rose turned her gaze back to Henry, looking him in the eye. "I'm proud of us," she said thoughtfully.

Santario summoned an easy smile from Pericles. I wouldn’t miss it on pain of death, she had assured, and he touched his palm to his heart, grin lingering between amusement and appreciation. The Ravenclaw hadn't ever had the grave misfortune of being on the opposite end of the piste from her, so for now, her formidable reputation was only something he was vicariously aware of. She was simply sweet Santario. Her bond with Mr. Toadsworth was exemplary as well, and served as an ideal for the relationships singers should have with their counterparts. Soon enough however, Peri was perfectly distracted from toads, and was instead worrying over the opinions of a certain cat. Cats held a special place in the boy's heart, somewhere alongside his love of arachnids and dragons. In fact, he could confidently claim Schrödinger was one of his top three favorite felines. Xailah declared that after banning cats from the toad audition, the sentiment wasn't returned. He drew a very fake gasp through his nose, forcing his hooded gaze to widen. "He did not," came the aghast retort, then upon hearing there was a small chance of redemption, Peri shook his head. "I suppose I ought to work on an apology straight away, or better yet, convince Athena to work on her manners. Poor Schrödinger...." At the bit of banter about a potential Frog and Cat choir, the faux shock melted away, and a small smirk and thoughtful hum offered in its wake. He could imagine the possibilities, but didn't seem to tempted to act on them.

The presence of familiar faces had been a comfort, though the arrival of strangers had made matters all the more exciting. Choir wasn't just about entertainment, it was an opportunity to bond with all types of personalities, varying wildly outside their shared love of music. For a few seconds as he smiled at Xailah, Pericles' attention drifted to Henry. He could hear his fellow second-year duellist sounding skittish, questioning whether or not they had practiced enough to perform first. The young director wasn't the sort to put anyone on the spot, so he bided his time, pleased when Rose boldly declared that she and her friend were performing as a pair. "Of course!" came the casual encouragement. There was no fanfare, no excessive sense of ceremony to the audition. He merely looked over the others present to ensure they were aware it was time for accommodating silence. The song began. When at first he heard the tremble in Rose's voice, Pericles' automatic reaction was wanting to look away, affording her less pressure. He had to remain firm if he was going to be a director. Should they could not stomach an audition, he couldn't in good conscience put them in front of the school, he reminded himself. On he watched, and soon this would pay off for all involved.

Rose's crystal-clear voice and complementing range were a treat to witness. Her pitch melded beautifully with Henry's capacity for a high treble, which piqued Peri's interest; he could play a flexible part in future performances. Their cadence and projection were of great importance, though the listener was especially keen on seeing how their tiny partners contributed, and for moment watched them quite closely. The miraculous inclination amphibians had towards tempo was a mystery. While he had yet to discover how they kept time, seeming to predict the pitch of whoever held them, this was one secret he could appreciate without understanding entirely. He had heard Xailah's murmured approval, though didn't respond, transfixed til the melody ended. When Rose practically dragged Henry to him, he was beaming warmly, radiating approval as he heard them discuss their amphibians' names. "No- they don't have any owners, I'm afraid. Most of them are borrowed from Magical Menagerie, because you see, they were either returned or were sitting in the shop for far too long." The explanation was projected to all present, and while Peri continued to smile, the expression dimmed from what it had been for the duo's song. It rekindled some as he looked between them, saying "The Choir is healthy recreation. For whatever reason, frogs and toads really seem to love singing.... Thank you for sharing your voices with us, and for giving Ulysses and Squirt something to look forward to." With a welcoming tilt of his head, the boy enthused softly, "I'll be counting the days 'til your next performance."

Santario stepped up for an audition of her own. She had been loyal to the choir since it was nothing more than a concept. Did she need to audition? No, but Pericles wasn't about to tell her that. He wanted to hear every voice present. Eyes alight with anticipation, he nodded encouragingly before sitting then and there on the floor besides the bins, legs folded, head raised. The song was unfamiliar as the one before, its lyrics equally intense, albeit on an altogether different level from the uplifting number performed previously. Though they seemed grim in nature, the melody was coaxing, haunting, and her companion played well with it. The simple croak of a toad could be a silly sound, but Mr. Toadsworth's resonant rumbling instead added an ominous edge to Santario's Mezzo-Soprano. As it came to an end, the boy breathed "That was beautiful, San. Thank you for that. I could tell Mister Toadsworth missed you, too, with how enthusiastically he sang along."

When the next girl introduced herself as a first-year, Pericles' kneejerk reaction was to treat her with tenderness. They were a mere year apart, but he had changed drastically in his time at Hogwarts, now seeing some of his own innocent obliviousness in those freshly arrived. "Welcome Starlee," he'd said with a mellow smile, insisting "Please go ahead, I'd be happy to hear you next." It took guts to sing for strangers, especially with a lack of musical accompaniment, but overcoming the awkwardness was half the battle. At the end of the day, even if they were all singing in unison, every individual voice mattered, and so did each individual's confidence. Pericles was less interested in finding the most sublime singers. What mattered was finding those who had the strength to put their talents on display in order to sing a song (though, it was very much his luck that all who arrived seemed to have some experience already). The first song had been sweet and uplifting, the second eerily emboldening. This next one was, well, silly to someone with little to no familiarity for pop. He hadn't heard the muggle original, so he would lack the capability to admire the masterful rendition into a magic song, but she was having fun performing and he was having fun listening. What was more, it seemed her new little friend was excitedly taking on her energy with its many croaks. When she bowed, the lad could not help but clap, a withheld laugh ringing on the edge of his voice. "The two of you got on naturally! That was brilliant. Well done, Starlee and- does this one have a name yet?" Peri was empathetically enthused, adding "No rush of course."

Despite Pericles' lack of leadership experience, the audition was carrying along with ease, four voices having been heard already. His stare slid from Simon to Xailah as he asked, "Who would like to go next?"

Henry fell silent as he listened to Santario audition. Her voice sounded lovely as least to Henry as he listened and when the song came to a end the twelve year old made sure to speak to his co dueling captain, " that was amazing Santario! Brilliant, really!" Henry would then smiled toward Starlee and would reply to her " good luck Starlee!"

It was funny how many more others the second year known this year than last year mainly because of the dueling team. Something that the twelve year old was grateful for as Henry turned his attention to Starlee and listened to her sing a pop type of song.

Henry smiled toward the girl and once she finished, Henry would say" that was bloody brilliant Starlee! What was the song you sang, it sounded distinctly familiar," probably because it was a pop songs and pop songs tended to sound familiar.

Turning his attention back toward Rose now since there was a break in the auditions. A smile appeared on Henry face as he looked down a bit before back at Rose as the second year replied " naming things isn't a bad thing, I think that's sort of cool Rose," before letting out a bit of a laugh mainly from his anxiety when he heard her comment about Ulysses. So predictable of the boy to name his frog after something he read in a book as the boy replied " Squirt is an adorable name to. Squirt and his human counterpart; Rose Moon sounds nice together," laughing a bit not sure what he included her surname. Surnames how odd they were or can be.

After a few moments, Henry didn't realize that the blonde haired ravenclaw duelist and frog choir director have heard him question if the frogs had names or not. However the second year looked toward him and smiled a bit at his comments.

Henry would nod upon hearing his final comment and smiling a bit as his thoughts definitely got the better of him, the boy wild replie to the ravenclaw, " that brilliant that the frog choir takes the ones that have been returned or haven't found homes yet," smiling a bit at the resting frog in his hand before back at Pericles as he spoke" and thanks! Were glad you like it!"

Once the ravenclaw would leave to another, Henry would smile toward Rose's comment before adding " I'm proud of us to, we did brilliantly," before adding a bit lower so only Rose could hear him, "do you think we're in?"

It would seem that Santario was the sort of girl who remembered the little things, that others would have likely forgotten. She had a special mind. Her mention of the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dodgeball game, made a single brow curve into a curious shape. That was something that hadn't been thought of in a long while. Xailah smiled, exhaled, and then dipped her chin. "I will be sssure to inform him." To know that others cared for her feline, was touching in an odd sort of way. Even if the care wasn't meant for the mistress. The lioness found the snake to be something of a surprise, and was quite frankly shocked that their paths had never really crossed at an earlier time in their lives. There had been instances that they were in the same area, and yet introductions never happened. Funny how the world worked like that.

Mr. Toadsworth, had been the title that the snake granted the stout toad, of which she cradled. A fine name for a fine amphibian. Toadsworth was the epitome of magnificence. His rumbling voice, his pancake-like form, the bond he had with his singing partner- it was utter perfection. In a past life he was likely a dapper man, with an affinity for the opera. Xailah watched the Slytherin and the toad, nodding along as the girl further introduced her amphibious partner. And then the little lizard had been spied, but it quickly hid itself away. Shy creatures were the most amusing sort.

A few minutes into watching the first two performers, Xailah remembered that she needed to look for a frog still. Everyone else had picked such nice companions. Careful not to turn all her attention away from the boy, and girl, singing; she peered back at the frog and toad bins, eyeing the critters inside. Where was she supposed to start? Would she know if she picked the right one? She spotted a rather large toad, which she one-handedly proceeded to chase around. It was extremely slippery- which was to be expected. Aside from warts, sliminess was the most prominent physical trait of both frogs and toads. The toad had managed to corner itself, and right when Xailah though she had it, something jumped onto her face.

She acted in the way anyone would- like a cat that just had a cheese slice flung onto its noggin. She blepped, and blinked in surprise, though careful not to interrupt any ongoing auditions. A rather small frog had rudely interfered with the Gryffindors picking of a partner. Peeling the animal off of her jaw, she would mindlessly set it back in its crate. Not the amphibian she was looking for. She wanted a large, and magnificent frog like Toadsworth- not this dingy little creature. Extending her arm for the large toad once again- Oh! There was that annoying little frog again. Tangled in her hair this time. She grimaced, and then turned to watch the rest of the audition. Maybe the frog would go away, if she was lucky.

Xailah applauded alongside the Slytherin that sat next to her, once Rose and Henry concluded their performance. The two had put on quite the show. Attention would be drawn back to the lizard that had been asked about. The lizards keeper looked to her shoulder, and cooed to the scaly beastie. "Kahlan! A pretty name for a pretty lizard." Xailah beamed gently, as the Slytherin placed her pet on Toadsworths back. "A pleasure to meet you, Miss." The Gryffindor wiggled the tip of her index finger, as if waving. The Slytherin stood, deciding that it was her time to perform, and stating that afterwards Xailah could try and hold Kahlan. The Gryffindor brightened a little, at that. "I'd quite like that. Break a leg- or two!" Her bows drew together. "Just not literally."

How the breaking of legs was supposed to grant good luck, she had no clue. Xailah doubted the Slytherin needed the well wishes anyways. The raven-haired girl would likely crush her audition- in a good way. The girl stood, at the front of the room and provided- what was known in the world of theatre as, a slate. Essentially an introduction. Oh! Why, not once had the Gryffindor and Slytherin exchanged names! Until now of course. Sort of. Xailah tried her best to remember to do the same, once it was time for her to audition. Santarios performance was a stark contrast in comparison to the first audition done by the Gryffindor and Slytherin duo. While the their song invoked smiles, Santario's provoked goosebumps and quivering hair. When the snake finished, Xailah clapped. "Bravo." The Slytherin made her way back over to the Gryffindor, where she would be greeted with a tight-lipped smile. Others applauded and complimented the serpent. Xailah listened idly.

"I think I should go soon. Those who had not gone yet would be eyed. "I have no intention of going last." Xailah hummed to Santario, brows raising as she watched another Slytherin girl walk towards the front of the room to begin her audition. "After this one I think." And then maybe she would get a chance to interact with Kahlan. It was interesting to hear the different types of songs that the students had elected to perform. No two performances were the same, or even remotely similar. Starlee presented something that could be boogied to. It was funky in all the best ways. Xailah, while still maintaining her idle stance, swayed ever so slightly. Once Starlee finished her audition, the Gryffindor brought her hands together to applaud the girl. Pericles would exchange pleasantries with the snake, before prodding at the remaining singers. "I would like to go next."

Having come from a Pureblood household, Xailah's musical knowledge was extremely limited. If the tune wasn't classical, or some sort of lullabylike nursery rhyme, she likely did not know it. However, one exception to that, was older German pop music. While unusual, it was not too uncommon for some purebloods to take liking to muggle music. Older members of Xailah family (namely Tabitha), had lived through a decade where pop music was approaching its peak. Lets give a round of applause to the 80's, everyone. The music of the decade stuck, and was a forever reminder of a youth that could never be experienced again. There were two artist that Xailah could recall, whose record were played religiously whenever her aunt came to visit. Falco was the only one she knew by name though.

Taco, had been the name of the other artist. While Xailah would likely never learn the mans name (not anytime soon at least), there was one particular song of his, that had wormed its way into her head. "Puttin' on the Ritz"- it was a clever tune, one that had been making its rounds for several decades, but popularized by the eccentric Dutch singer. Tacos cover of the song turned it into a tune that was easily identifiable, given the added synth-like, and electro qualities. It was a shame the style never really caught on though. Uninteresting facts aside, "Puttin' on the Ritz" was what Xailah would be performing. Mostly because the song required the least amount of vulnerability to be displayed while auditioning. Secondly she knew most of the lyrics. So, it only made sense to use the song. It did not resonate with her. It hardly had any meaning for her- but it would do. Xailah stood, brushing herself off, the frog from earlier still clung to her hair. She would first walk to one side of the room that contained various musical instruments. Something would be taken from the collection- a bow belonging to a cello. It would be serving a new purpose today. Xailah would then move towards the front of the room.

"Hallo. I am Xailah Alptraum, fourth year Gryffindor." She looked directly at Santario when saying this, before diverting her eyes to the other students. A spidery hand rose, scooping something small, and green off of her person. "I sssuppose this is my sssinging partner. For now he will be called Hop-Frog." She said dryly. The Gryffindor eyed the creature that bore some vague resemblance to a booger. She brought the frog close to her face, and whispered: "This is your chance to prove yourself. You fail, I turn you into kitty treats." The frog let out a small croak, before being placed onto the lionesses shoulder. Xailah would turn away from her audience momentarily. The splinter of wood and strings, swung up and over her head, nestling between her shoulders. She took a moment to collect herself. A low purr reverberate in her chest, carrying itself towards her throat. She turned towards the observers.

"If you're blue and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits?"

A Pause- for effect of course.

"Putting on the ritz-"

Her voice was airy, yet strong, and touched with slight alluring- cold in nature, but it knew when to be warm. The bow left her shoulders, making contact with the polished floor. The trembling frog on her shoulder chirruped.

"Different types who wear a day coat, pants with stripes
And cutaway coat, perfect fits-
Putting on the ritz"

Hands tugged at the cuffs and collars of her shirt. The hand holding the length of wood trailed one arm, for emphasis on the perfect fit.

"Dressed up like a million dollar trooper,
trying hard to look like Gary Cooper-"

A devious smirk crossed Xailahs face. Her singing partner chased the tune that the girl carried, with two shrill chirps.

"Come, let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sssticks
or umbrellas in their mitts-"

The cello bow that had been turned into a prop, would be raised high over the Gryffindors head, as if it were a canopy-less umbrella.

"-Putting on the ritz"

The umbrella act, was then followed by a playful, yet meaningless wink, delivered to those in audience.

"Have you seen the well-to-do?
Up and down Park Avenue
On that famous thoroughfare
With their noses in the air"

Xailah turned to the side, raising her chin. A single hand rose, as if gesturing to a top tat. The hand then fell, and ran a finger over the rim of her shirt collar. Fingers departed and pinched together, as if wielding an imaginary wad of paper monies.

"High hats and arrow collars
White ssspats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime for a wonderful time-"

Rinse and repeat one last time. The frog- bless him- tried his best to keep up with his partner. He belted out a few final croaks, marking the end of the song and the performance. Xailah bowed, and plucked the creature from her shoulder. It shook visibly- be it from excitement, or passing stage fright. The Gryffindor took a moment- as she walked away to return the cello bow, and to sit with Santario- to observe the small mass of green, in an attempt to figure out what to think of it. She was still indifferent she supposed. But, it had done its job. So maybe she liked it. Just a little bit- not more than Schrödinger though.

How had he missed the Frog Choir auditions last year?! It was everything that the boy loved to do; sing or hum or ribbit, and then there was the element of having a little amphibian friend to sing with you as well! As a boy, Piérre had loved to walk by streams and look for those elusive froggies, trying to catch them on occasion. When he had been really young, three or four, before his magic had surfaced, he had loved to croak back at them at night, hop around like one during the day, and stick out his tongue while crossing his eyes.

Yeah, he had been a bit a of a whackjob. But only in the most endearing of ways, he liked to believe.

It had been a couple of weeks since the incident of the Gryffindors on the doomed Hogwarts Express, and through the events were behind him, Piérre was still finding himself rocky on his feet, swaying almost like he was intoxicated, as his knees shook and the world seemed to be moving a bit too much for comfort. His nose, which had in fact been broken by the suitcase which had smacked him in the face, had been healed easily enough, though there was a bit of a bent spot about halfway down, a small indent which testified to a still-healing mark. It was this little dimple that Piérre kept running his finger down, testing the imprint and wiggling the cartilage in the tip of his nose. It was the little things he was always intrigued with and obsessed over, small things like a broken nose and sore muscles as consequence for his brash actions which had knocked him senseless. He didn’t have many physical scars... and this was a bit of peculiar knowledge that the Britalian was now revising as he trotted his way to the rehearsal room.

Rolled d4 to Determine House Color for the Day:

1-
Hufflepuff
2- Ravenclaw
3- Gryffindor
4- Slytherin

Number Rolled: 3
Gryffindor

It was this Gryffindor pride he was expressing, a red and white striped shirt like you would see on a gondolier with a v-neck collar, and a pair of plain bleached jeans with a red sash belt. His hair was teased as it usually was, though he had brushed his hair thoroughly; it never seemed to want to stay brushed. At the nape of his neck, his now little longer than jawline hair was tied back in a small ponytail with a small hairtie he had picked up off the ground in the Gryffindor Common room. It would do for now, until he either convinced someone to help chop his hair or he decided to chop it himself

Humming as he draw close to the room, Piérre heard the singing and croaking from inside, and became quiet. He was already late, per his usual, and it would be rude of him to continue singing while there was another performance going on. No, he would simply have to wait and be patient, lurking near the door and creaking it open with careful hands in order to glance inside. It would not be until the singing was over from (@Xailah Alptraum) that Piérre would edge his way in, closing the door quietly behind him and trying his best not to attract any attention. He was slowly turning pink, and the tips of his ears were bright red.

‘Okay. Gogogogogogogogo....’ He thought to himself, semi-tiptoeing and semi-trotting to the place where he heard the croaking. It was kind of like a corny cartoon sequence, the big baddie trying to hide in plain sight. Yet, he would cross whether he was spotted or not, coming to look at possible singing partners. These were the froggoes!

And good Merlin were they adorable.

There were browns and greens, some yellows and reds and oranges. Most any autumnal colors your could imagine. They were all collected here together, and it was a good thing that Piérre had not brought along Figaro or the cat would have bapped at least, oh, about all of them. The one year old kitten would have absolutely wreaked havoc on the proceedings, chasing and mouthing the frogs, though perhaps never breaking the fragile skin. Piérre had already discovered more than a few live mice in his bedsheets, the prized presents gifted him by his dearest silver Bengal.

Rolling up his sleeves, Piérre began to pet the large and the small frogs and toads, stroking their warty and smooth backs with gentle hands. There was a childish grin spread across his face as he bounced without leaving the ground. He was far too immature to be a twelve year old going on thirteen. In a sense, he still considered himself a first year, if only in spirit. There were so many to choose from, and they all had such beautiful voices, bass croaks, trebles, baritones and contras. He could only have one.

That was the saddest part of all.

Humming again, Piérre tried to sing aimlessly so that all the frogs could pick up his voice. At this point, he was probing, checking to see which ones would sing in tune and who had an affinity with Piérre’s rather large male range. Bass bullfrogs rumbled in response, causing some water puddles to ripples with the sound. Higher voices whistled in, rippling in smaller waves. Some hopped away, growing silent and shy. Silent and shy couldn’t do. If they were going to sing with the easily excitable Piérre, the frog would have to cope with a lot of random stuff that the boy would throw at them without warning.

Putting the tip of his finger in the water to stir it quietly, Piérre’s humming reduced to a quiet grumble. There was so much that he needed to consider. Like, what if a frog wouldn’t do at all? What if it was a lizard? But lizards took a lot of work and care, and the boy was forgetful. What kind of complimentary voice part did he need anyways?

Something bit his finger.

Now, the thing is, frog bites don’t really hurt. Yes, they have strong jaws, and sometimes they can have little barbs that serve as pseudo-teeth to hold their prey, but the thing is that unless the frog is nearly the size of your hand, the bite itself doesn’t hurt. It is more of the shock that get you, that sort of surprise you feel when a fish nibbles your toes when you dangle them in the water on a pier. It doesn’t hurt, it just throws you off guard, and Piérre was assuredly thrown off guard.

“Ouch!” The yelp was mostly to himself, though perhaps those nearby would be surprised at the outburst. “Hey, who did that?” A little bit louder as he pulled his finger out of the water to get a good look at the perpetrator. The frog was, miraculously, still holding on to his finger. Well it was no wonder the boy hadn’t seen the frog approach; green and white speckles back had caused the critter to blend in perfectly with the water and the green within the water. Metallic golden eyes trimmed with a bit of copper on the edges flaunted a large black pupil, and Piérre saw that its small mouth was stubbornly holding onto his pinkie. “Heyyyy... you bit my finger! That’s not very nice, Charlie!” Mock anger, for his surprise had been mostly resolved. The other frogs, surprised by Piérre just as much as he had been surprised by this biting frog, had all croaked away, leaving the victim with the offender.

“I guess you’re stuck with me, huh? Arn’cha?” Piérre raided a brow as he lifted his pinkie in front of him. The frog was about four inches or so, rather long, yet the skin was relatively smooth, mottled only with a few green and white bumps here and there. The coloration of the spots turned more rust the further down to the rump they were. The frog blinked slowly, one eye and then the other, and Piérre couldn’t help but stick his tongue out at it, wrinkling up his face and furrowing his brows as he did. In response, the frog promptly opened its mouth and gravity took hold, causing the boy to reach out with his other hand and catch the green, red, and white speckled critter in the palm of his opposite hand. The frog, unfazed, opened and closed its mouth again, letting out a pair of high squeaks before going silent and then blinking one eye and then the other again.

M’kay. Piérre had a frog now. Now what? “You think we need to sing, Charlie?” The boy whispered to the frog.

“Creeeak creeeak crawk.” Was all Charlie responded with, a small throat pouch bulging slightly.

“Yeah, okay. Let’s head up and try, alright?”

What to sing, what to sing. Oh, he’d think of something on the fly!

Oh... Oh! He had it!

It was more of a funny reference, really, a song that only a few Muggles, Muggleborns, Halfbloods or any individual who had any experience with Muggle youtube and technology would know and recognize... maybe a song that would bring a few to tears in the right conditions. Piérre doubted that Charlie would know it, being a frog an all, but hey, maybe that didn’t really matter all that much. That’s why Piérre had chosen the lil guy after all, they were both trying something new.

So, taking his place, and waving at everyone with both hands, a broad smile plastered on his face. With a ph out loud count of one, two, three, four, Piérre started out with a little hop-dance, the leg rotation included. It was a bit of a funny jab to his nationality, but it was just that; funny.
I claimed Ziv Zaifman (Child singer in ‘A Million Dreams’, but Piérre’s voice is gradually becoming more mature.
He went on as long as he was wanted to go on for, careful to cut out and alter bits that he wasn’t fond of (the less PG parts ;)) Charlie, while they struggled a bit to stick with Piérre’s spontaneity, soon caught on, piping up with low third harmony and then switching it up with a higher theme which nicely complimented Piérre’s singing. Charlie needed practice, certainly, and this kind of music would not be what the choir would be singing, but that was why this was just an audition, proving what he could do.

Trying to show his flexibility, Piérre put his heart into it, trying to express cheesy musical, the start of a mature voice, and even pop or classical.

When he was finished, Piérre held Charlie up to his face, rubbing noses with it for a second before kissing its nose gently with a small laugh. Bouncing with excitement, Piérre backed down, jumping from the stage with the leap of a frog, taking his place as he watched the other performers with their lovely little accompanists.
