Kaegen needed someplace to store his treasures, someplace to be safe. He already had a plan, too. He would wait, and when no one else was watching, he would dig in the lake bed with a large metal spoon he found. Working on it for hours, days. Using the dirt to cleverly make the entrance more hidden. The hole was in the shade of a little tree, above the water level enough to be nice and dry. If the animals could do it, why not a little 11 year old? He avoided the roots instead of cutting through them, letting them hang like a little curtain partition in the hole. He carted in good sand by carrying it in his pockets between classes. Before long it was surprisingly big. The ground was pretty soft, and Kaegen was pretty good at digging. It helped that he could rinse out a lot of the dirt with buckets of water. The water seeped through the sand, and the sand would eventually dry. It was about big enough for 1-3 kids when Kaegen found the log. A big, dead hollow log that moved every day, just a little bit more, towards the hole the boy had made. It was ridiculously heavy, and he had to use long sticks as levers to roll it across the lawn. It was easier to roll it in front of the hole, since that part was more downhill. Using the dirt by the entrance, and some sticks, Kaegen made the hole flush with the side of the huge log. He then took out his knife, and began the slow process of carving a hole in the top of the log, much like you would cut the top of a jack o lantern so that the lid would stay in its hole. It was harder than he expected, but the knife was sharp enough, and sooner or later he had a hole down into the log. Making another hole in the side of the log, Kaegen finally connected the log with the little hole, making, at least from a little kid's stand point, a pretty awesome fort. He would modify it later, maybe try and see if he could make the hole dryer, or get furnishings for the huge log. He had been working on it ever since arriving at hogwarts, and had just now finished the basic structure. Silently thanking grandfather for teaching him how to make shelters, Kaegen closed his eyes, and took a nap in the safety of his log.
