All four duellists were back in on the action, having dealt with their respective blindfolds and curled up tongues. Lydia, of course, was struggling to see through the spots left by her backfired sparks charm, which maybe was just enough of a distraction, when combined with her guilt over her failed cast, to have it happen again. Bridget winced as she watched Lydia's Knockback Jinx backfire; not only was that painful, but two botched spells in a row would be rough to overcome mentally.
Bridget was still very much impartial to the outcome of this duel, and yet she couldn't help but be thankful when both of the Gryffindor's Knockback Jinxes missed. Alec's especially, what with the evident power behind it. Three of such a powerful spell in one round would have been a lot for Lydia to handle.
In a show of power that proved the threat Amadea posed as a fourth year, a burst of flames shot from her wand towards Alec. He'd set her on fire, so now she returned the favor. Alec was remarkably quick on his feet, but her aim was better, the emerald flames just managing to catch his robes, which were promptly set ablaze. Maybe the pain would be enough to teach yet another of Hogwarts' nascent pyromaniacs why you really shouldn't play with fire.

𝓣here was one thought circulating through Amadea's head at the moment, something that was quite out of character for the kind and usually quiet Hufflepuff. Fight fire with fire. She wasn't exactly sure why her mind was telling her to do this, but perhaps it was the fact that she had been hit by the fire making spell herself; even though she did not have a phobia of being aflame anymore, she still tried to avoid using any fire related spells...unless it was directed at her first.
"Incendio duo!" she casted, hoping that the Gryffindor would forgive her. Amadea was wrestling internally with her desire to prove her House and win the duel while also not being a merciless and heartless competitor that stopped at nothing to win. She watched as the spell made it's way toward Alec, hitting him and setting him aflame. She felt badly, she really did, but she also knew that this was the way duels worked; people got hit and people recovered. Unfortunately, it looked like Lydia's spell had backfired again. "Are you okay?" she asked her teammate. Amadea knew how startling it was for a spell to backfire, let alone twice. Somehow, despite the backfire, Lydia had evaded both spells aimed at her. Her teammate was incredible. Amadea steadied herself for the next round, making sure to wish, "Good luck!" to everyone.Action: As strategized

Alec had been so focused on his spell he'd had trouble noticing what was going on till he noticed Amadea casting her spell as well. He was trying to be quick to move, but as he saw the failed actions of his spell; it was hard. Then he felt heat the heat on his ankle, warm and subtle but there. He looked, and it had caught on a small snag off his robe; it had been a new one too. It only took a few seconds before spreading quickly, catching the boy off guard.
The surprising pain was.. manageable. It wasn't any worse than the burns he'd gotten from being left to his own devices and trying to bake cookies that one time, that was terrible. A mistake which got the young child banned from the oven he should have not been allowed to touch in the first place. But that was also a story for another day. (meaning I've just not finished writing the whole story even though I have the basic plot.)
He moved whispering a quick,"Ah, bloody hell.." getting the flames to go down enough for him to be comfortable to get ready to cast his next spell, knowing it'd go out quickly enough it hopefully wouldn't be too much of a problem. After getting read to cast his next spell, he made an attempt to smile. This was a duell, he was fine, and it's not like after everything this would be the thing to kill him. A burnt robe. His father would be unhappy about the ruined robe, but Alec couldn't stop that.
Hearing the older student say good luck first, Alec again wanting to keep things positive even though he was salty about his now ruined robe made the effort to say it as well, "Good luck!" He looked over to his teammate, "We've got this.." the assurance was for both Alec and his teammate though he'd never admit it. With a nod to himself he looked like, finally once again readying himself to do the spell.Action: Doing as planned.

[quote]Another round, another volley of spells. Frankly AJ was surprised all of them were still standing, evidently they should all be extremely proud of themselves. He turned to Alec to give him an approving no- annnd Alec is on fire.
Well good things can't last.
It was an extremely well aimed spell from Amadea but AJ thought it was in rather poor taste to congratulate her whilst his teammate was burning. He instead turned his attention to Lydia, whom to his surprise had turned her attention on him.
The casts were simultaneous, AJ loudly announcing "Flipendo!" as the blue streak shot towards his opponent, sadly though he shot a bit too high and it went sailing over her head.
Unluckily for her, but luckily for him, something went wrong with her cast. He winced as Lydia's spell backfired, painfully remembering his own botched cast in his last duel. He showed his scarred palm to the Hufflepuff as she recovered, hoping she would understand. "Don' gut duscouraged! Ye'll gut meh next teem!"

What is wrong with me?!
That's all that was going through the redheaded girl at the moment. Sure, the moment she cast her spell her vision was highly compromised, but she couldn't understand how she had managed to cast Flipendo at herself. When the spell hit her, she felt so humiliated by herself that all she wanted to do was hide somewhere and hope that people would forget about how she had managed to hit herself twice in a row. She was the Captain of the Hufflepuff team, this didn't affect just her; if people saw her like that, hitting herself over and over again, then they might have thought that the whole team wasn't good, which was completely untrue.
As Lydia tried to regain what little was left of her dignity, she looked up from the floor -for how long had she stared at it?- just in time to see two spells aiming for her. Not wanting to be hit once again, she quickly dodged out of the way, as she also tried to regain some confidence in herself. She was a good student, she knew the spells and how to cast them; all that she needed to do was concentrate.
"I'm alright, I think," she answered to Amadea and gave her a small smile, before looking at AJ. The Gryffindor Captain words weren't that easy to understand -did he have an accent? Or was it Lydia being too far away or still too much in her own head?- but she got the gist of it and offered him a nod and a smile.
Then, taking a deep breath, she concentrated on her next move.

With the exception of Alec, the round was pretty normal, if a round without fire could be considered normal at Hogwarts. Lydia broke her cycle of backfired spells, the spell thankfully exiting the desired end of her round, though Alec was able to avoid her attempt to levitate him. He avoided the Knockback Jinx sent his way from Amadea, too, the dodge rather impressive. The lingering flames from the fire he'd been hit with stung and then fizzled out.
AJ was struggling a bit but it certainly could have been worse; a few sparks shot out of his wand before sputtering out, refusing to produce the spell he'd cast. At least it hadn't blown up in his face.
And as for Alec, well... He'd done an impressive bit of dodging, you had to give him that. However, it seemed he was so caught up in his footwork that his aim paid the price. He leveled his wand first at Lydia and seemed to forget for a moment they were on opposite sides. You at least couldn't fault them for the friendly atmosphere that was practically nonexistent in other matches. Maybe he noticed how pretty she was or maybe he felt bad for her lack of success with her last two casts. At any rate, he shifted his target last minute to Amadea, but the lack of planning seemed to result in the spell not going that way at all; rather, it shot towards his teammate, who managed to avoid the terribly aimed blue light fairly easily.
That was quite the whirlwind. For all the dramatics of the round, though, nothing much had really happened, not a single spell finding its mark, intended or otherwise. Well, there was always next round.

[quote]Alec had noticed something this round, he was being targeted. He wasn't sure whether to be proud at the subject, in fact, that he was being targeted by them, supposing it depended on the reasons. Whether he was an easy catch to put down, or considered enough of a threat that they decided to get on with it. Alec was going to go with latter option for his own sake, though it didn't pride him going down with this option. It didn't unpride him, if there was even a proper word for that..
Whatever it didn't matter, Alec was only twelve, vocabulary and proper words to express ideas were for nerds. That was a joke.
One thing he felt prided on was his footwork this round, he'd made quite the way of avoiding the other team's spells. The quickness in the air rushed the end to the flames, and it finally fizzled out, Alec had eyed the real damage that had been down to what he was wearing. Trying to get a better look, only to remember he'd still hadn't cast his spell. His wand went towards the younger girl though with a moment to think, and quick afterthoughts his wand shifted towards the fourth year. He wasn't sure what it was, maybe the look in the younger one's eyes.. Alec had gotten better at reading people, though even this could've been poor judgement.
When Alec's wand had shifted, on possibly poor judgement, he had little time to react or prepare. Anyone could've bet it wasn't going to go well, even himself. And somehow, it went towards AJ. Alec's eyes darted to his teammate quickly, watching him avoid the spell Alec let out a sigh of relief. Whispering out a small "Sorry.." after. He flashed his teammate a quick smile. At least he'd missed it? Before assuming position for the next round.

[quote]Well it seemed Alec was the enemy of the opposing team for this duel. Not that AJ minded all that much, it was an improvement over being rapid fire blasted by Flipendo like his first duel.
Speaking of Flipendo though, he almost thought he heard something rocketing through the air towards him all of a sudden, but that couldn't be right, neither of the girls had fired his way, and there was no way Alec would accidentally shoot a spell at him again, right?
Well turned out there was a way, thankfully AJ just barely managed to duck underneath the spell before it struck him in the side. "Ah knoo ah mee loo' leek one uf are loveleh opponunts Ullec bu' theer over theer!" He remarked jokingly to his teammate, no real anger in his tone, he knew accidents happened.
