Howard’s long legs carried him swiftly down the corridor with Falentra in tow. Their destination: the Small Hall. Behind them they would leave a scene of chaos as they had both vandalized and destroyed the door to the Hogwarts Headliner Office. Retribution for a one sided article that had been allowed to be published with almost no consequence. That would end this day. Both on their bodies and in their trail would be red paint that any might follow. Those still eating or just finishing their dinner would hear a loud bang as Howard kicked open the doors to the Great Hall. At his feet he would drop a school bag filled with copies of the Hogwarts Headliner, a few spilling out as the bag hit the floor.
The scene had been building for months now as the frustration built up more and more within Howard. Already a slightly unstable youth with an anger management problem, it never took much to set him off. However, this time would be different. This was not one of his usual outbreaks of rage over an insult or argument. Although the anger would never leave him, this time there would be a building passion for the subject at hand, the rights and treatment of his kind. This would not be just for the Dhampir, but all of the half breeds and magical beings that attended Hogwarts. It seemed the growing rift that threatened to split the magical community had crept its way into the educational institution. Those on one side that would believe that witch and wizard stood above all. That the other magical creatures and half breeds were sub class citizens and did not deserve an equal standing in the magical world. They even went as far as casting out squibs and denying wand rights to beings they deemed unfit. However, on the other side there would be sympathizers and those that would demand equal treatment for all. Then there would be those willing to fight for the cause through action, both in protest and violence alike. Morality would be blurred by both sides as often happens when preservation clashes with change.
It would be this growing passion and the adrenaline of his actions before that would fuel Howard into demonstration. Some would argue that it was nothing but a criminal act as he destroyed property and engaged in unsafe behaviors. However, some might heed his words. Perhaps they too had felt the pressure of being different or empathized with their friends or family that had been labeled as such. Maybe they would just merely be onlookers as some angsty teenager with corpse like skin and blood red eyes went on a rant and made a scene. No matter what way they saw it, Howard would begin to shout with Falentra at his side.
“HOGWARTS HEADLINER!” He bellowed as he held up a copy of the paper, the page turned to the article about Dhampirs. “I CALL YOU OUT!! T. RUTH!! I CALL YOU OUT!!” Howard would then toss the paper in the pile with the others and turn to Falentra. The wild look in his eye and wicked smile still very much on display. “Light ‘em up, Fal.”

Falentra couldn't help but think back to when Howard had just kicked that door in. It was so effortless yet with the force he kicked with, you could tell it was with every ounce of power and not to mention emotion. If his actions couldn't have shown it, his words were sure to. And to top the whole thing off with a passionate kiss, it couldn't have got any better. A huge smile had made its way across her face, gleaming with happiness whilst Howard now led the way towards the Great Hall. They had caused all the chaos they needed to at the Headliners Office but it just wasn't enough for the pair.
This was the great finale. If what was about to take place didn't shock or even scare off some of the younger years, they must have been doing something wrong. But that wasn't the point of this whole thing. As much as scaring students would have been fun to watch, their main goal was to show each and every one, especially the writer of this damn article what real danger was and what Dhampirs were capable of. If they thought Dhampirs were 'Docile and Dangerous' before, they had another thing coming. Besides, what Howard was about to say and show everyone was nothing but the truth. So, if they wanted something to write about in future, at least they could base it around facts rather than dragging Howard, and those of his kind down with a poor choice of words.
The two fourth-years had made it outside the Great Hall. The students and professors were sure to be enjoying their evenings sat amongst one another, enjoying their meals and having their daily catch-up. As they would every night. Tonight however was to take a sinister turn.
Their faces were to hold too many emotions that you simply couldn't just pinpoint one. Anger, rage, excitement, chaos and even a hint of darkness would be showing through their expressions from the moment Howard had barged his way into the Great Hall. Not a second had passed before he had grabbed almost every single persons attention. Falentra remained a few steps behind him, allowing him to have all the attention during this moment. It was so powerful. To have all eyes on him. The Slytherin watched with a grin, her eyes following him everywhere he went. Every so often they would take a quick glance at the audience before them, taking in as many reactions as she could. Some were shocked, others scared, others laughing, cheering and booing and some simply staring towards the professors gobsmacked. Falentras would follow over to the end of the Hall, eyeing up a few of the adults. They were sure to be furious with such an event taking place but Falentra nor Howard cared in the slightest for what the consequences that were to be.
The sound of her own name brought her gaze back to Howard. Her eyes followed the papers that he tossed on the ground before her. “Light ‘em up, Fal.”
Oh hell yes. This was her time to shine, to add to the chaos that Howard was already making. In seconds she had her wand in grip, pointing down towards the papers at the ready. There wasn't any time to waste. The mixture of excitement and adrenaline was becoming to much for her. She took a deep breath before her eyes narrowed on the target and shouting the following with nothing other than pure anger. ''Incendio Duo!!'' Green flames would ignite from the tip of her wand and travel down quickly to the piles of paper before her, instantly setting alight as though it was gasoline. Within seconds the fire would have spread through the whole bunch, a blast of heat following.
With her wand still in hand, she took a few steps back to admire her work. It was impressive and sure to give those close enough a scare, or a shock at the least. Howard was still pacing the floor, shouting for a particular name. One which Falentra was looking out for- a reaction that differed from the rest. ''Show yourself! You pathetic weaklin'!'' She would join with Howard, again trying to hype him and his anger to there absolute limits.

Valencia held her head high as she walked throughout the corridors, her gaze falling upon nothing in particular, the long halls empty with its usual inhabitants in the Great Hall finishing up their meals. Despite how confident the Dhampir appeared to be, she was certainly anything but. With one hand clasped tightly to the hem of her robe, the other pushing strands of red, auburn hair away from her face, she sped up her pace and avoided the seemingly disapproving glares she'd been receiving from the paintings. It was a normal thing for Valencia, feeling wary and at unease as if someone were to be watching her every move. Paranoid, perhaps, though she had every right to be. Especially since that newspaper article.. She thought bitterly, grey eyes now suddenly hostile at the thought of it. It was one thing to read an old book with inaccuracy regarding half-breeds and non-humans as a whole, but for it to be published for everyone to read in her own school? While she'd like to call it surprising, she just couldn't come to believe that she'd expect anything less.
As she swung around the corner and into the Small Hall, the Dhampir's regard now lay upon two older students, one of which who seemed to be shouting angrily. Or maybe triumphantly.. She couldn't seem to decipher between the two, nor did she have time before the female cast Incendio Duo towards the papers. As a first-year, Valencia ought to be afraid of the scene taking place before her, though there was a higher sense of admiration than terror. For all she knew they could be preaching some of the worst beliefs known to mankind, but their confidence seemed to mesmerize her. Despite this not being the most conventional way to get a point across, it would still work all the same. It was only then that she realized what exactly they were burning, in which case it pleased her even greater.
It was now that Valencia would question if she would insert herself into the havoc and mess, the desire to partake in something she didn't quite understand the full context of still tempting. Though the longer the boy seemed to shout the name, the more the feeling of wanting to prove something boiled inside her. The author of that article was in no position to write such accusations against her kind, and she wanted them to know that. Though when she had read the paper by herself, late at night with the other girls of her dormitory asleep, all she could do was crumple up the page and throw it in the garbage bin. But now. Now she had the opportunity to do something about it.
She watched silently as students flooded out to witness such a commotion, lips pursed as quiet mumbles grew into louder chatting. Most were confused as to why there was the smell of ash and smoke, some angry that their usual route was now upheld, and then the Professors who hadn't taken action yet. Valencia wasn't sure how long she'd been standing in front of the two; probably for too long before she actually chose to move.
"Yeh, come out!" She shouted along with them, not the slightest twinge of regret felt. Sure, maybe she'd just come off as a little first year trying to engage in something way over her head, but she knew exactly what she was doing, what she was fighting for. Worst comes to worst they'd simply shove her out.
Dive down deep into her sound.

Opeila almost dropped her spoon into the bowl in front of her when the doors opened. What was happening? Almost automatically her right hand grabbed her wand. Was there another attack?
Her own thoughts alerted her a little and quickly she let go of her wand. Opeila couldn't turn so paranoid whenever something unexpected happened.
Her eyebrows rose a little when she looked at the two students in the entrance, who were both familiar. Falentra Black, the spider girl and Howard White, who pulled Opeila to the side to ask her about the dark marks on her ankles, only a few weeks into the new schoolyear. Both had red paint on them. The Hufflepuff dropped a bag to his feet and something fell out. Was that-
Opeila was by now quite familiar with the headliner, she read them herself from time to time. Seeing this now gave her a bad feeling. The Slytherin could guess what this was about, she had read the article of this mysterious writer, who signed with T. Ruth.
Opeila had always been aware of how dhampirs could be dangerous, but she had never seen them as monsters or was scared of them.
Sure, she had been attacked by one, but she didn't blame that on what they were, but on a questionable personality. The second year was no fan of excusing actions with the way one was born.
Only that Howard had not been born this way, right?
Opeila's eyes widened when Howard started to shout. Calling out T. Ruth, whoever that was. Oh no, oh no... Falentra lit up the newspapers and the first people were joining in with the shouting for T. Ruth. Opeila considered extinguishing the newspaper but then she didn't. Instead she looked down her own housetable. If she met the look of @Jack Burnett or @Flash Holmwood, she would hold it for a second.
Opeila was highly alarmed by the development of this. This was turning into a freaking witchhunt. If she extinguished the newspapers, it would likely be considered taking the haters' side. T. Ruth, formerly just a little annoyance, written on a piece of paper, seemed to have kicked off something big.
Additionally to the neverending fight between blood purists and everyone, they also started a conflict over the dhampirs now.

The noise of the Great Hall was not a particularly quiet place, especially during meals. Kazuo preferred to avoid it as much as possible, spending breakfast and lunches elsewhere, but dinner was inevitably spent trying to ignore the worst of the noise produced by his fellow students. So he did not look up at first, when the doors banged open, assuming it was just another boisterous group of Gryffindors or something. The book he had buried his nose in was far more interesting than the usual happenings of the dinner hour and when he was reading people tended not to talk to him.
Yet a familiar voice would ring through the Hall, cutting through the generic babble, drawing Kazuo’s eyes away from the page, spoon lifted halfway to his mouth as they landed on Howard. Hogwarts Headliner? The school newspaper? T. Ruth? He had a vague memory of reading the latest issue but he had dismissed the very article Howard was upset about as pointless scare tactics and ignored it. Not that he didn’t believe dhampirs could be dangerous but he would hardly accuse them of being any more dangerous than human wizards wielding wands and lighting each other on fire.
Speaking of fire, he watched the girl who had entered with Howard, a fourth-year he didn’t know, light the newspapers up with an impressive shot of green fire. He let his spoon drop into his bowl and closed his book, shifting his gaze from the red-paint covered duo - why were they splattered in red paint? - to the other students, curious to see how they would react. More than a few seemed to be seeking an exit, unwilling to get involved. Probably a smart decision, especially if they bought into the scare tactics of the article and knew that Howard was one of those very ‘monsters’. A few seemed to join in Howard’s chant, though he didn’t know if it was true support or merely the excitement of causing trouble. He suspected many were the latter.
He tapped his fingers against the table, wondering if the mysterious T. Ruth would show themself. He doubted it, of course. Who would reveal themself in the face of an obviously angry dhampir? Yet he couldn’t help but to wonder if Howard’s display would really improve anything for him and the other dhampir students? Wasn’t this kind of aggressive action exactly what the article was implying? Still, he admired the older boy for standing up and actually doing something about the slander. There were so few who seemed willing to act, after all. Most preferred to hide, to go unnoticed, to pretend there was nothing wrong.
He stood up, hoping to get a better view yet there were so many faces, he couldn’t pick anyone specific out from the crowd, at least not yet. He climbed up onto the bench to gain a better perspective and he continued to watch - at least for now.
Don't confuse my attitude with my personality. My personality is who I am; my attitude depends on who you are.

Kit knew he didn't really count as a teacher. It was one of the reasons he didn't often sit with the other staff at the head table at mealtimes regardless of who was there. It felt...awkward. Odd somehow. He hardly even knew any of them yet, nor they of him, busy as they were doing their respective jobs. But when trouble reared its chaotic head in the form of two very determined, purposeful students striding strong-mindedly into the Great Hall, he was glad for his relative disassociation with the other adults.
It allowed him to slip away without drawing as much attention to himself as he might have if he had regularly taken a place at the main table at the front of the hall. Instead, he attempted to stealthily slip into the shadows (Cat's Grace) as if to take a quick trip to the lavatory. When he returned, however, it was not as the castle caretaker who students were probably used to seeing around the corridors.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The girl entered the hall with as bewildered and curious expression as many of the other students, her brows drawn together in a furrow as she tried to see over the heads of others. Fortunately, the spectacle was loud and flashy enough to give anyone the jist of what was happening regardless of where they might have been located within the large room. Some pale boy and his girlfriend were yelling for some person named T. Ruth to step forward and burning what could only have been Hogwarts Headliner papers. Dark eyes narrowed as the girl frowned. This didn't look good; not at all. She could guess what article had earned the papers their pyre.
After a few moments of attempting to maneuver her way toward the enraged fourth years, the girl managed to stand before them, her chin lifted impudently. She was shorter and younger than them, but it was difficult to tell exactly what year she might have been in; perhaps first or second. Her wand was already in her hand and she raised it to point at the burning pile of papers with its acrid smoke polluting the atmosphere of their supper.
"Extinguo," she called, attempting to put out the offending blaze. Then, aiming next at the remaining ashes and billowing smoke, "Scourgify!" repeating the spell as necessary. As a result, she seemed somewhat sapped by the conclusion of her work, but she still possessed enough audacity to address her upperclassman in a loud voice.
"And what would you do if I told you I was T. Ruth?" the brunette asked the two antagonists before her, voice trembling slightly along with her mildly shaking hands. Still, she looked from one to the other, making sure to meet their gazes head-on. "Bite me? Show everyone what real monsters you actually are?"
Her gaze flickered once toward the teacher's table, but then she refocused on her schoolmates taking a stand before her. It would all be well and good if one of the adults stepped in to chastise and perhaps discipline the kids who were out of line. However, she was under the impression that one could make the most difference in student politics only by being a student themselves.
"Go ahead then," she challenged in a volume that was almost a whisper. "Make my point for me."

Eri was not one to get involved with school politics. However having read the recent paper about Damphirs she had decided to get involved. Seeing two people of her grade making a ruckus and starting a fire she got up from the table and walked over there. Usually staying out of everyone's business she would sit in the far back of her table, but not wanting to stand by and let the words go. Leaving her food on the table she got up and walked over to the two fourth years and stood back a safe distance to listen to see if her interference was needed.
Shaking a little with anger hearing what the brunette said. "Who are you calling monsters? Just because they are born that way." Standing between the two fourth years and the brunette was trying to provoke them. "You're just a coward picking on people who are different. Why don't you pick on someone just like you." She said standing in a protective stance. She was ready to defend the Damphir with her life. She wasn't good with spells but she was good with her fists and her words. "You are only trying to make their lives worse just because they are different. Only you are the real monster." Gazing at the girl with a fierceness in her eyes showing that she would not back down. Her 5'9" stature could intimidate others. Especially the muscles that were present showing her many years of training in the martial arts. If she had to she would start a fight to protect those unfortunate to be picked on for being different.

Supper was never a time that Evelynn paid much attention to. Generally, it was a case of being in and out as quickly as possible in order to race up to the tower, change, and get back to the pitch to cram in as much Quidditch practice as possible before curfew. Or... before dark, at least, now that curfew didn't really apply to her. And tonight was no different. She had been sitting a ways down the table as far from D'Spacito as she could reasonably manage without making it look like she was trying to avoid him with her nose in a book, trying to capitalize on the downtime. Well, as much as she could anyway, between sparse bits of conversation with those around her.
When the doors had burst open, she hadn't even glanced up initially. People came and went regularly during meals; it really wasn't all that unusual. Thus, she paid it no mind initially. It wasn't until she heard shouting from the direction of the entrance that she lifted her head, a fork piled with shepherd's pie pausing halfway to her mouth to hover over her plate. Her expression pinched in confusion as she craned her neck and tried to make out what they were saying, but the buzz and chatter of nearby students that picked up with the commotion distorted the initial message. What was quite clear, however, was the flare of green flame and the wash of heat as it disappeared below the sea of heads to set something alight. Brows flaring, she snapped a gaze over towards the staff table to see if they had noticed--how could they not have--before turning right back to the scene.
"Did you hear what they said?" Fingers had reached out beside her to grab Valentine's attention with a touch to his shoulder, ear inclining in his direction without pulling her gaze from the scene unfolding before them all.
By then, there were more than just the initial two, however. A third--a young ravenclaw--had joined them (odd, considering they were of significant height differences, and entirely different houses), and was calling for someone to "come out!" Whatever that meant. Clarity might have arrived a moment later as a rather petite brunette approached the trio. If Evelynn could have heard them over all the ambience. The fire went out a moment later, and Evelynn thought she heard something about the truth, but really couldn't quite be certain. She was too far away.
"Tsh..." An annoyed suck of air escaped through her teeth and she let her book lower to the table, the contents of its pages considerably lower on her list of priorities all of a sudden. It was hard enough as it was to see what was going on, but students seemed to be just as curious as she was and the hushed whispers, craning necks, and repositioning of some peers to get a better vantage point only made it all the more difficult. "Come on.." she whispered Valentine, nodding her head in their direction. "Let's get a better look."
Whether or not he followed, Evelynn would collect her things, extract herself from the bench, and worm her way between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables. Of course, it was largely to find a better viewpoint, but if things began to heat up again, she had every intention of ensuring she had an unimpeded path to make an exit.
As she drew closer, another student joined the fray, but this time she could at least somewhat make out what was being said. It was rather a ridiculous sight. Four students, three of whom had to have been at least a couple of years older than herself, facing up against one. One who was clearly their younger. Them calling her a monster. The four of them angered and hostile with expressions that called for blood calling her, tiny and shaking with the appearance of trying to be brave, a monster. What in the world was going on? Not even any shred of evidence remained of whatever had been turned into a pyre to give her a clue.

"...Only you are the real monster," Erin Windstone finished with her glorious muscles on display. "Oi!!" shouted Jorah. There atop the Ravenclaw table stood a deviant boy at the ready for a fight. In the place of Gaelic war paint, blueberry filling from a half finished pie decorated the boy's face in delicious ferocious imagery. "I smell fear," it was actually blueberries, "and rightly so. We cant have a single school function without the Hufflepuff's spontaneously combusting. I myself was stabbed in the lung my first year. This...this is not an environment conducive to learning!" Jorah took a breathe reeling in his some of his pent up frustrations. "We have a right to know what's out there and what is in here. We need to be prepared. I couldn't give two shits whose a half breed. Discrimination is wrong and bad. There needs to be a stronger word for discrimination, like bad wrong, or badong. Yes, discrimination is badong. Having said that, you can't deny that an out of control Dhampir is dangerous. So would anyone of us be for that matter. Superman is a good person, but that doesn't stop Batman from having a stash of Kryptonite and being prepared." Jorah pointed a sticky finger at Howard and Falentra, "I will not stand for this authoritarian censorship of our paper. The real monsters are those who would destroy our freedom of the press. Valentine, on the other hand, was eating. The needs of a demanding lifestyle required him to consume large amounts of calories to substitute those that he expended daily. He wasn't a glutton though, unlike many of his sweet-toothed peers. His diet consisted mostly of spinach, bread, poultry, and milk. Lots of milk. He pampered himself with more milk than a newborn baby.
As the scene unfolded, Evelynn didn’t need to tap him on the shoulder. He was already looking. Beyond his languid movements and seeming tiredness, Valentine was always alert. After Bridget's warning and his nearly fatal collision with a rolling train, he had become more attuned to the dangers around him. Howard's blazing entry would warrant a shift of his gaze.
He could have been deaf, he could have been blind, he could have been stabbed in the back from behind. But he would never be taken by surprise.
An angry one-sided exchange was occurring, that much he could tell with the Dhampir’s formidable voice booming across the hall. Strangely, though he could hear that Howard was saying something, he couldn't make out any of the words being spoken. The disadvantage of high ceilings and sound projection physics.
"I think someone kicked that one in the dick," he pointed calmly at Howard as he rose from his chair, uttering an almost D'spacito-like suggestion. There was a period when he found Rafael's overuse of foul language to be unsightly, but with time, the boy's anti-climactic mannerisms had grown on him.
Come on, which eleven-year-old didn't find the word 'dick' just a little bit funny the first time they heard it?
Unlike his companion, he left most of his possessions where he had been sitting, along with the glass of milk he had been meaning to finish. He would return to it after this was over and done. If there was going to be a scene, the Professors would surely put a stop to it, right? Angsty children threw tempers all the time, and this was no different in his eyes. He slipped his hands into his pockets, getting more comfortable as he trailed behind her. He was unshaken by the fierce cries that intrigued Decipio so. His subconscious would make note of it, file it away for reference if it was really needed, but there was no need to wake the whole machine for a minor glitch in the system.
It was just another day.
