There is always place for a new friend @Kayden Lind

It had been a while since Haley had last been here and played on the piano, but she resolved to use her time for it more often. She had missed playing lately, so she took advantage of her afternoon off and went to the rehearsal room. Luckily for her, it was empty and the piano stood unused in the room. With bobbing steps she walked towards it and hummed a song that had been stuck in her head for days. It was a song from her original home, they had often sung it at family gatherings and she realised again how much she missed Ireland. Not only her father's family who lived there, but also the beautiful nature, her friends and her old home.

Haley sat down at the piano, she put the sheet music her father had sent her next to her and started to play. She didn't need sheet music for this song. Her fingers glided over the keys and it seemed as if she had never done anything else. She let herself be carried away by the music and began to sing. song 1

"Come now and follow me down
Down to the lights of Galway where
There's fine sailors walking the town
And waiting to meet the ladies there"

She closed her eyes and thought back to when she lived in Ireland. The cliffs she stood on so often. The sea in her nose and the wind in her hair. She finished the song and paused for a moment. Even though she was sad, she was happy at the same time that she was here now. Here at Hogwarts and had found a second family here.

She took her father's sheet music and began to learn a new song. It took a little while but Haley soon got the hang of it and she could play the song without much difficulty. She knew this song too and as she was still alone, she started to sing again. song 2

"Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know"

And so Haley played on for a while, trying out the songs her father had sent her. But what she didn't notice was that soon she was no longer alone in the rehearsal room.

Kayden often came down to the rehearsal room often. Whenever he was stressed from schoolwork, or just needed a break, he would open up his journal, and pull out a freshly written monologue. He would go down and rehearse it over and over and over, never to show it to anybody. This particular morning, he grabbed a five-minute-long speech about loss, from Joshua Sobol's Ghetto. Walking down the hall, he neared the rehearsal room.

The plinking of piano keys filled his ears and he walked closer. He began hearing a voice, singing an old Irish folk song, one he was sure he had heard his uncle, who was an Ireland native, sing a couple times at a family reunion. Walking in, he saw a girl with dirty red hair, one he had seen before. She was a Gryffindor, and she had been in paired Herbology classes. She was quite skilled.
Kayden leaned against the wall, listening to the song. She apparently wasn't noticing, as her fingers flew across the keys in complex melody.

All of the sudden she stopped. Suddenly feeling self-conscious, Kayden smiled awkwardly.
"That was pretty good." He said in a friendly tone. I wish I could play the piano like that!

you're reminding me of Taylor @Kayden Lind

Haley winced for a moment, she hadn't realised that someone had come into the rehearsal room. She had to smile at herself. How could she have noticed when she was so engrossed in playing the piano and singing. She was embarrassed for a moment that someone had heard her sing but she couldn't help it now so she didn't bother. Before turning around she thanked him for the compliment, "Thank you."

She turned around and her smile was quickly gone. There was a look of confusion and shock on her face. How could this be? It wasn't because the boy was funny looking, on the contrary, he was good looking but he bore a strong resemblance to Taylor, Haley's youngest cousin. But before her brain could process that there was no way this could be Taylor, her mouth had already spoken, "Taylor?"

At the same moment she realised she had just spoken her thought out loud and she shook her head. "um, sorry. You look an awful lot like someone I know." But the longer Haley looked at him, the more differences she could see and after a while he didn't look like Taylor at all. It was probably more due to the fact that she kept saying it to herself mentally and knew that he couldn't possibly have been Taylor.

She quickly gathered her thoughts and shook off her confusion. "I'm Haley, Haley Rose." She smiled at him now and waved him over. "I can try to teach you." She indicated the piano with her gaze and lightly stroked the keys with her fingers. She never teached someone to play the piano but there was always a first time.

Taylor? The girl must think she knew him. However, she seemed to realize her mistake, as she immediately looked apologetic. She shook his hand and introduced herself as Haley Rose. She had a soft Irish accent and was good looking. "I'm Kayden Lind. Hufflepuff." He said with a smile. She explained that he looked an awful lot like someone she knew. "Oh that's alright," he said," I guess I just have one of those faces." She smiled. Haley mentioned that she could teach him to play the piano. Kayden stuffed his monologue back in his pocket. "Alright sure."

He slid in next to her and put his fingers on the keys. "I only know one song, I had to learn it for theatre." He began playing a simple song, one that required minor skill.

It was nice to finally meet someone, especially someone as nice as her. While they had only just met each other, he could tell they were going to be good friends. "So." He began, "How do I do this? I'm not gonna be your best student I can assure you that." He rested his fingers on the keys and played a few notes, warming up his fingers.

propably not the best teacher @Kayden Lind

"Gryfindor." She added briefly so that he knew which house she was from. She was grateful that he didn't hold it against her in any way that she had mistaken him for someone else and slid a little to the side on the stool so that Kayden could sit next to her. She suddenly realised what she had offered him and realised that she had no idea how she could have taught anyone. She was all the more relieved when he mentioned that he could play something and she listened as he began to play a simple piece.

"Good, you know your way around a bit at least though and we don't have to start from scratch."
She smiled encouragingly at him, trying to encourage herself as well. It was crazy that the two of them had only known each other for a few minutes and were already sitting here like it was the most normal thing in the world and Haley was sure she had made a new friend in that moment. Haley had to laugh at his remark. "Oh, don't worry. I can assure you that I won't be the best teacher either."

Haley thought about a song that shouldn't be too hard. After a short pause for thought, a song came to her mind. She had always liked to play it as a child and so she put her hands back on the piano and started to play. Song "Do you know the song?" she asked in between as she continued to play.

"Okay, let's start slowly. Let's start with the right hand." Haley showed him the hand positions for the first few notes and tried to explain it to him the best she could, letting him copy her movements in between. He was a quick learner and so they repeated it over and over until it became easier for him.

As she watched him practise, she picked up on his previous statement. "Theatre then? Which role was your favourite?" She was curious to hear his answer. Haley had never been good at acting, so theatre had never been a big part of her life, but she liked the feeling of being there as a guest and the school events when they could see their friends on stage getting into their roles.

Kayden was soon playing basic songs on the piano. It was only minorly difficult, and he began getting the hang of it pretty quick. She made a comment on his theatre experience as they began talking. "My favorite role was probably Oliver Twist. It was a good experience and my last performance with my muggle friends." He continued playing, and felt he was getting better and better. Though he wasn't the best at learning new instruments, he felt he was picking this up pretty quick. "Man just call me the next Mozart." As he said this, he immediately pressed the wrong key, botching the song. "Pride comes before the fall I guess."

"So, is that an Irish accent I hear? I have an uncle who's Irish. He's fun to be around."
He stood up, and walked around to the back of the piano, and grabbed a chair from the back of the wall. The acoustics of the room echoed the words throughout the hall. It had only been fifteen seconds, and he had already lost the muscle memory for the song he had learned. He had already forgotten all about his monologue, which now had fallen out of his pocket onto the floor.

talking about origin @Kayden Lind

Kayden was really quick at learning and Haley was surprised that it worked so well after such a short time, so she supported him with her left hand while he played with his right. This song made her think back to her childhood. How she sat on her father's lap and he taught her to play the piano for the first time. From the very beginning, she had been interested in music as a small child and from a little trial followed solid lessons in which her father taught her to play. And now she sat here today and tried to pass on her knowledge even if she was not half as good a teacher as her father.

Her eyes snapped up and she looked in amazement at Kayden. He really knew Oliver Twist? And at that moment she was sure that he was not a pureblood. Which was not meant negatively, of course, but very few purebloods knew stories and books from the Muggle world. She continued to look at him and quoted Charles Dickens, "It is because I think so much of warm and sensitive hearts, that I would spare them from being wounded." She had always read a lot and especially always liked to remember her favourite quotes from books.

She had to laugh out loud at his remark, "Yeah next Mozart. Let's practice some more for that." And she winked at him and didn't elaborate on the fact that he was just pressing the wrong key. But she liked his humour. She could tell from it that the two of them would certainly get along well.

Her heart ached again at the thought of Ireland, her home now only in her heart. "We Irish are always pretty funny. Exhibit number A, your uncle, Exhibit number B, me." And at this statement she played a dramatic -Bam, Bam, Bam - on the piano with full vigour and started laughing. "But yes, born in Ireland and still an Irish soul. My father is Irish and when I was five we moved to London."

She watched Kayden walk across the room and pull up a chair. She stopped playing and turned her attention to her new friend. "And what about you, where are you from?" She had always been bad at classifying accents or generally matching looks to any country so she didn't even try to make a guess and waited for his answer.

@Haley Rose

Haley, like Kaydens uncle, did appear to be full of life. There wasn't a lot that someone needed to be to be his friend, but being funny certainly was one of them. She confirmed she was from Ireland, and asked where he was from. "I was born in a wizarding village, but raised in muggle London. My parents wanted me to see what it was like living among non-magic people. It was okay I guess. They were just like you and me, except they cant shoot fireballs at you when they're angry." He laughed, then realized something. This girl, coming from Ireland with a wizarding mother and father, was a pureblood.

He wasn't sure if she wanted him around anymore. Certain wizards can be very choosy about who they hang around with. He wasn't sure if the conversation would be best carried on or not. Most people probably wouldn't think it was a big deal, but when people get angry about it, they get very angry. He decided to carry on the conversation anyway. "
" So, what do you like to do for fun?" He asked, a newfound awkwardness filling his voice.
He hoped she wouldn't mind the difference between their families

I like your sense of humour @Kayden Lind

"Oh yeah, I like to shoot fireballs at people when I'm mad at them." Haley started laughing with Kayden. Of course she had never done that before but it was an amusing performance. "When we moved to London I lived in muggle London too, or rather I still do but currently we are moving. It's not far from London but not in the city anymore. The house is a lot bigger and because it's out of the way, there will be more magic." She was really looking forward to her new home. She didn't mind her old one but she loved the idea that they wouldn't have to hide there anymore. She was incredibly proud of her father that even though he was a muggle he had so much enthusiasm for this world and had made the decision to move with his family.

She noticed that something in Kayden's mood changed, but she couldn't place what it was. Perhaps she was mistaken and decided not to dwell on it for now. "What do I like to do for fun." Haley repeated his words, pretending to think sharply. "Okay, so let's begin, I like being outside, I like reading and obviously playing the piano but most of all I like going on adventures, playing pranks and spreading good cheer." She shrugged her shoulders as if they were the most normal things in this world. She knew not everyone got along with her outspoken and goofy nature but it never bothered her. She couldn't like everyone and not everyone could like her. After all, that was normal but Haley was incredibly happy every time she bumped into someone she liked and who liked her.

"But tell me more about yourself. What do you enjoy?" she looked at Kayden curiously and was curious what he would tell her. She had already noticed that they had a similar sense of humour. He liked the theatre but what else was behind it?

@Haley Rose

She seemed not to mind. Kayden didn't think he had ever met someone with such a carefree attitude. "Well for fun, I like going out and swimming in the giant lake outside. Me and the giant squid are pretty much bros now. I also like playing pranks, especially against my horrid Charms teacher. They deserve it though, not gonna lie. Sometimes I think they intentionally seek me out.
I also like reading. Mostly fantasy novels, but I can enjoy a good Sci-Fi book as well. I just like being outside too. Something about nature really calms me. Or makes me feel like I should be up to no good, either one depending on what day it is."

He and Haley seemed to have a lot in common. She seemed to be nice, and also seemed to be just as troublesome as he was. Though not troublesome in a dangerous way, but more in the spirit of good fun. The kind of person Kayden wanted to hang around.

"What say we do something fun? This rehearsal room is great and all, but there is;t that much to see and do really."
He began straightening his jacket and stood up.
