Maverick listened intently to the Hufflepuff boy as he listed off the things he did. He could tell music was a important part of his life and couldn't help but smile a little as the boy continued on about it. He was extremely passionate about it and Maverick found it extremely interesting. He himself had never known much about music. His mother would occasionally play music on an old radio that belonged to his father at home, but neither could really ever identify the songs.

"That's really cool, you definitely seem to enjoy it. I don't know much about music so I don't really know who those people are but as long as you like them. " he told him, trying to think of any musical artists but ended up drawing a blank. "I always wanted to try and learn how to play piano because I thought it was interesting, never really got around to it though. I think it's awesome that you know how to play three different instruments, that definitely couldn't have been easy," he continued on, truly meaning the words he said.

"So how did you get into music or is there really a reason? You don't have to answer though of course," he questioned, curious but didn't want to overstep.

"My aunt, she really likes it. She works at this bookstore and bakery in London and they play music constantly. I think it was something she was always involved with - choir and such, and she just brought it into the home."
No huge reason. It wasn't as if she aspired to be a singer or anything. His Aunt Maggie was more than happy working in the bakeshop as one of the main bakers and they currently held a 5-star review, something hard to obtain in London.

"I also don't go outside very much. I've got a genetic skin condition that makes me stay mostly indoors so things like reading and music mesh well with that. Doesn't mater where you are or what the weather is like - you can always partake in those."

He didn't know if Maverick would ask about the skin condition. Some did. Many did. Most did. "If I stay out in the sun too long I burn really quickly. It's called Xeroderma Pigmentosum. It affects 1 in 1 million people. My aunt likes to say I'm her one in a million," he smiled and then laughed a little at the memory. Then again, his aunt had so many nicknames for him, that was only one.

"So what do you think about this place? What's your favorite thing about Hogwarts? What do you miss most about home?"

"I think it's amazing here, even better in person. There's so many things to learn and see, it's brilliant," Maverick explained, looking around the area they were currently in. "I've always been homeschooled so I wasn't sure what it would be like but I think I prefer having classes with other people. I admit it can get a little overwhelming sometimes and I'm still getting used to the amount of people here, but other than that it's brilliant."

Maverick went quiet for a few seconds, trying to think about the answers to the other questions, until he came up with them. "I'm not entirely sure what my favorite part is. It may be all the areas that I can explore or all the secrets yet to be discovered. I also like the people I've met here as well, everyone has been so nice so far which makes things a lot easier," he smiled happily as he said this, thinking about all the wonderful people and places he had seen and met. "I definitely miss my mom the most though, I can still send letters to her of course but I still miss her," he explained to the Hufflepuff boy, drifting off into his own thoughts. He just hoped his mother was doing alright by herself, she knew a few people who lived close by but she herself wasn't super close to them which worried him.

He quickly came back to reality though, snapping out of his thoughts. "Anyway, what about you? What do you like and miss the most?" he asked, wondering what the answers would be.

The knight won't move with @Maverick Anwyll

When they got to a suit of armor he paused to look at it, almost as if he expected it to move. He placed his hands on the metal shoulder. Nothing. Put his hand in its like he was going to shake his hand. Nothing.

"I miss my a aunt, of course, but what else? To many, this might sound rather lame but I miss going to church. We usually went at least twice a week and then I was also a member of the children's choir. I miss my friends. I miss London."

But he didn't want Maverick to think he wasn't happy, because that wasn't the case at all. "I love it here though too. I think it was after the holiday break that I realized that Hogwarts truly has become my second home." It was an amazing place full of incredible people.

"Okay, onto Hogwarts. Favorite class and who else do you hang around with within these walls?" Or on the grounds. That was a choice for many, just not often for him.

Favorite question was a hard one though. Did Simon even have a favorite? Now as his friend pondered the questions he just threw at him, Simon took a moment to think about his classes and how he might rank them.

Maverick had watched the Hufflepuff boy mess with a suit of armor, which didn't move, and then moved on. He listened to him as he answered, wondering if there were any passages or secrets around at the moment. He looked around where they walked, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. That's when he heard Simon ask more questions which made him turn snap out of his thoughts. It took a few minutes to think of his answers, he hadn't really thought about the first one that much.

"I've never really thought about which one is my favorite, I honestly really like them all," he explained, deep in thought, "If I had to choose one though I would probably say potions, I'm not sure why but I think it's cool. There are so many different types and ways to make them which is fun. It's kinda of hard to explain really."He really wasn't sure why he had chosen potions but for some reason he had.

"As for who I hang out with I don't have many people. I'm only really close to a girl named Haley who's in Gryffindor. I think we're friends, I'm not sure though. I mean, I've met a couple of people but I don't really know anyone else. Usually I just spend my time alone then I guess, not much to say really," he explained, fiddling with his bag slightly. He wanted to meet more people but his nerves would always get the better of him.

"Anyway," he started looking over at the Hufflepuff boy, smiling slightly, " What about you then?"

There had to be something somewhere. It was rather disappointing that it didn't seem the two were going to find anything hidden within Hogwarts today. "Well, hopefully you can consider Simon Kincaid a friend too," he spoke of himself and smiled. "Maybe we can plan another day to investigate these halls."

Simon then smiled though because Maverick had mentioned Haley, in Gryffindor. Simon was pretty sure there was only one Haley in Hogwarts and she was in Gryffindor so surely they were thinking of the same person. Haley Rose, a girl he knew quite well since his first days at Hogwarts back when school just began. Someone he had met in the Library so many months ago. Someone he had grown quite close to in that time. Someone he could rely and depend on.

"Ah, yes, Haley Rose. She's remarkable and fun and pretty and all things wonderful, yes?" Simon laughed. "I'm not just saying that because she's my girlfriend either."

Many thought that it didn't quite make sense for a First Year student to have a girlfriend but Simon thought differently. In fact, he was the type that had his first girlfriend at the age of nine so this wasn't something new to him. However, while still young, this with Haley was much different than the relationships he held with girls at his muggle school back in London.

Maverick nodded slightly as Simon hoped he considered himself as a friend. The Ravenclaw boy had only just met him but he already considered the Hufflepuff boy as a friend. He was glad he could add a new friend to his friend list. Maverick continued listening to the other boy's words, looking around as he did. They weren't having much luck finding anything so he agreed that they should also investigate the halls another day. It surprised him though when he learned that Simon already knew Haley and was even more surprised to learn that the two where dating.

"That's cool, I didn't realize she was dating anyone. From the way you talk about her though, I can tell you are very fond of her," he said smiling slightly, stopping to look at the wall. He thought something was off in a spot and pressed his hand along it but nothing seemed to happen. He turned back and continued on with the conversation, "I hope the two of you are very happy together then. I wasn't expecting you to know her so this was is interesting. It's cool though, kind of funny that I now know the both of you. It just happened randomly but my luck is rather random." He smiled at the boy as they continued on, today had been very interesting so far.

"Well, I think I've got pretty good luck. I don't have too many Ravenclaw friends but honestly they've got to be the best to have around." All that intelligence and all. Who better to have your back in time of need? Luckily Simon didn't have any particular reason to need someone to have his back but if it ever occurred than he was ready.

Of course, that was somewhat of a generalization. Simon, being a Hufflepuff himself, would do whatever he could to help out his friends. His new friend Maverick included.

"You'll have to let me know if Hales ever says anything poorly about me,"
Simon smiled, joking around, "then I'll know to get her some flowers or something." Where he would get such a thing at Hogwarts - well, he wasn't sure, but he would do his best. Even if that meant going outside in the sun.

"If flowers are even what witches like. This whole wizarding world is so new to me...sometimes I feel all lost within it or like I really don't belong."
It was hard to enter it after being raised without it. Purebloods and halfbloods didn't know how lucky they really were. It could be a big confusing world to enter when it was all new.
