The name Pincus used to hold no meaning to it. Nothing more than a last name. Though, that changed at that fateful ball. Now the name meant an infuriating and difficult limehead. A boy who was good at quipping back with ease at every turn. Turning his insults into compliments. After the ball, it was as if the weirdly hair-colored boy had disappeared into thin air. At first, it seemed more like a blessing then a curse. Percival didn’t really ever want to see that boy’s face again. Though, over the course of the last couple of weeks, he couldn’t help become curious. Limehead was a mystery. His brightly colored hair was hard to miss. So why hadn’t he seen him at any of the meals. The boy had been wearing Slytherin robes, but Percival had checked all the dormitories. There was no Issac Pincus enrolled on any of the rosters. It was possible that the boy had simply lied about his name, but that wouldn’t explain why he had never seen the boy in the common room. He wondered if the other had simply stolen some Slytherin’s robes, but he hadn’t heard anyone complain about it. No matter the angle he looked at Pincus with nothing made sense.

Curiosity burned away like an undeniable itch beneath the surface of his skin. An itch that he could not scratch. The cause of his curiosity had slipped away into the night as if he had never existed. Percival had thought about going to a Professor about the matter. Though, two things stopped him from doing so. There wasn’t anything actually wrong, and his dislike for adults kept him well away. Percival found himself beginning to lose hope of ever solving the small mystery that was Issac Pincus. As the weeks passed by, he became more and more deflated.

That was until only just moments ago. It had been in between classes, and Percival was making his way towards his next class. His steps echoed across the familiar stone flooring of the corridors. That was when he saw it. A flash of green as someone rounded a corner of the corridor. To anyone else, it would have simply been dismissed, but to him, it reminded him of the past couple of weeks and a specific lime-haired boy. Percival froze for only a second before he was down the hall. The boy was practically sprinting as he rounded the corner of the corridor. So caught up in the moment he didn’t notice that most students had disappeared off to class. Leaving the corridors completely void of life. So caught up he didn’t even think about what he would actually say to the boy once he caught up to him. Percival opened his large mouth before yelling, “HEY LIMEHEAD!” he called out loudly his voice echoing down the quiet hall. A victorious smirk crossed his facial features as he walked down towards the boy.

The exclamation that followed Isaac down the stony corridor, echoing and rebounding off the walls louder and louder as they went, caused the green-haired boy to cease his progress immediately. He cringed, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose between furrowed brows as he waited for his inevitable pursuer to approach. It wasn't as if there was really much use attempting to run off. He'd obviously already been seen and - presumably, if the voice and nickname were anything to go off of - recognized.

"I really shouldn't indulge your boorish, unimaginative address with the dignity of acknowledgement," the haughty young man muttered, not opening his eyes when the other Slytherin's footfalls came near enough, "But I will do so this one time. My curiosity as to whether or not you actually harbor enough brain cells to commit my real name to memory or if you simply cannot come up with an insult any more impressive than that has won me over."

At last, the upperclassman looked up, his creased forehead smoothed and his eyes pelucid; the picture of elegance, poise, and tolerance. His gaze sought Percival's very dark pools of irises that nearly even swallowed up his pupils in their depths. "What is it, Rainwood? Quickly, now; I don't have all day."

Percival grinned widely as the other boy stopped walking further away from him. The boy felt like the cat that had gotten the cream. Quite satisfied with himself for finally catching the elusive boy. Percival did not stop his large strides until he had completely caught up with the other. He stopped to Issac’s right side. Edging towards standing almost in front of the older student. His smirk slowly turned in a glower. His brows furrowing together, his eyes narrowing, as he listened to the other’s sharp-edged words. The boy started to remember exactly how much he disliked the weirdly hair-colored boy.

“Oh don’t worry Pincus I remember your name. I just think limehead is far more fitting for you.” he snarked at the boy. As he did so, he made a show of flicking his gaze up at the boy’s hair. Percival glared back into the sharp yellow eyes that sought out his own. It was now or never. A small part of him couldn’t help but think this would be his only chance to sate his curiosity. It drove him forward and resulted in him not putting much thought into the outcome of his words. “Where have you been Pincus?” he spoke in an orotund tone. “Did you know there is no Issac Pincus enrolled in any of the dormitories. Which is quite strange considering the house uniform you are currently wearing.” he said pointing at the symbol on his robes. Getting straight to the point felt better than dancing around the true reason for stopping Pincus.

Percival glared at the boy as if daring him to try and shut him down. He wouldn't be backing off any time soon, and he wasn't about to let Pincus throw some half-assed lie in his face. Percival took a threatening step forwards. Leaning his body forward towards the lime-haired boy in front of him as he spoke. "Who exactly are you Issac Pincus? he spat at the boy.

"...Right," the green-haired boy answered when Percival insisted he just thought his own nickname was more fitting. But Isaac's expression became peculiar, as if he was fighting very hard to hold back a laugh and it was only with the utmost discipline and the strongest will that he was managing to succeed. "Well...I much prefer being suited to the name 'Limehead' than 'Pink-ass'; that's for sure."

After few more seconds of an internal struggle, Isaac finally seemed to able to recompose his features completely into a mask of vague detachment. He listened to the second year as Percival spoke, lightly clasping his hands behind his back in a casual manner. The fact that the other boy willingly met his gaze was an unexpected but not unwelcome surprise and Isaac found himself mildly impressed. The more he listened, too, the more and more he found himself admiring the intelligence and confidence behind Percival's calmly-dispensed observations. When the mention of what he was wearing came up, he glanced down automatically at the snake emblem embroidered onto his robes before slowly lifting his head once more.

"...My," he said eventually, again appearing to attempt to keep a smile from his lips, but this time for a completely different reason and a different kind of smile. "How astute of you. And confronting me so openly and directly about such a delicate matter...not quite the behavior of one raised to be a pureblood, is it?" At last he allowed his lips to bow with genuine amusement once he locked on dark eyes. Isaac took a step closer himself, as if to express to Percival that he, too, didn't mind being getting into the other's space if that was what it took to prove he would not be intimidated so easily.

"I quite like that direct approach of yours. However, I'm afraid your question continues to be rather...vague. And if your question is vague, I can't very well know how to properly answer it, can I? For example, are you asking if who I am is someone befitting your absurdly childish name of 'Limehead'?"

Yellow orbs raked Percival's countenance once from top to bottom and back again. Then he reached out to tug on a small lock of the other boy's pale hair. "Blonde hair isn't a common combination with such intensely dark eyes, either, is it?" He inclined his head slightly. "But do either of those superficial traits define who you are? Does the combination of them?"

Percival would have laughed at the boy's other nickname if the situation wasn't so tense. It drew him in and he found himself unable to focus on anything else other than Pincus. Everything else blurring slightly out of focus as he glared at the boy in front of him. He wasn't too sure why. It wasn't like the boy would hurt him. Right? Percival felt drawn tight like an overtightened guitar string. He felt as if he would snap in two. All it would take was for Pincus to turn the tuning key a few centimeters too far.

When the boy spoke it hadn't been what he had expected. Percival had wished that the boy would explain everything here and now. Though that appeared to not be the case. Percival bit the inside of his cheek as he studied the other with a frown. "I see no problem with being direct. People have a tendency to try and weave their way out of things when one uses evasive maneuvers." he said simply. Percival's arms stood by his sides even though the other moved closer. Though, he would clench his hands together into fists.

"There is no doubt that the nickname fits you Pincus. Though my question was pointed towards your real name. Well....it isn't that real, is it? I find some doubt that your real name is actually Issac Pincus." he said narrowing his eyes at the boy.

Percival could not help but feel shocked as the other grabbed a lock of his hair. A younger Percival, one who put an hour into his hair, would have been immensely upset by someone touching hair. Though, Percival hardly put much time into his hair and instead let his hair run free. That did not take away the discomfort of having a practical stranger touch his hair. Percival glowered at the boy but refused to move. Lest it be taken as a sign of weakness. "Don't touch me Limehead." he spat at the boy.

The comment about his hair and eyes made him think quite deeply. Percival had always found pride in his dark eyes. They were Rainwood eyes through and through. He was fairly certain he had the same eye color as his Uncle Terrence. Though, the comment about his hair felt like Pincus was deliberately rubbing salt into an old wound. "Quite." he spoke in a short tone. He was an oddity. Blond hair was uncommon in the Rainwood family tree. Percival was one of the few family members alive with blond hair. One of the only other people with blond hair was...his father. Percival bit the inside of his cheek and his eyes blazed with indignation. How dare his father pass a gene on to him that so easily screamed that he was his father's son. Percival blinked at the boy before slightly nodding at his question. "Yes I suppose that makes sense." he said glaring towards the other.

"People have a tendency to try to weave their way out of things even when one does not use evasive maneuvers," Isaac countered Percival's comment without missing a beat. "Your directness does little if anything to dictate anyone else's. Still, it's precious how naive you are to think as much." His smile thinned and his gaze cut to the fists made at the other boy's sides.

"Oh...so it's names you're inquiring about?" he continued once his conversation partner did. "Really, though...is my name really what you want? Doesn't William Shakespeare in one of his plays say, 'what's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet'? " His brows peaked. "It would also still have thorns. I could give you any number of names, but how would you know it to be my real one? Why would it matter if you ended up failing to find it within your limited database of name knowledge? You're still asking the wrong questions, Rainwood."

He shook his head, as if somehow he had been let down by the other student. "For all you know, my real name could be Juliet Capulet and I could tell you as such, but what good would it do you? You'd still lack any real insight into who I really was, wouldn't you, not knowing anyone by that name except for a fictional character at best." Isaac spread his arms with a sardonic twist of his lips.

"I could, for all you know, actually be a hag in disguise, what with how they seem to be plaguing the school as of late. And then you, well...you would have an entirely different reason to regret being so direct, open, and...alone with me than you might have previously conceived of...wouldn't you?" The look he cast Percival was a mix of pity and disdain.

"I guess it's survival of the fittest in this world. And it's just a fact of that very same world that brave snakes don't usually survive; not compared to careful ones. However," he added, slowly circling the other boy as if to bar him from running back the way he came - or was it to keep anyone else from seeing and coming to Percival's aid? "The fact that you looked into me and my name at all shows initiative on your part and I'd like to reward that at the very least."

He turned around, still standing close and with his hands carefully clasped behind his back, but facing completely in the opposite direction of Percvial. "You just need to learn to be more cautious in the future as well because you just landed yourself in hot water you didn't even realize was a danger in the first place. A lesson needs to be taught, here...one you don't soon forget." Isaac seemed to be staring off into the distance since he didn't look at Percival even while speaking. Even so, if the other boy watched, he might have noticed something change. From the roots of his hair to the very tips, Isaac's hair remained the same style...but they gradually shifted in hue from bright green to the very blonde that Percival himself sported.

"I said before at the ball where we met that I was born this way," he spoke up, still not turning. "That my parents didn't approve of me looking as I did. Did you never think to wonder why that might have been? Why, perhaps, I might not have changed my appearance to suit their whims and wishes? There are any number of easy spells or even other, non-magical solutions to hide one's natural hair color. Why do you think I, instead, chose to stand out like I do? Particularly when it makes me a laughingstock among certain...circles?"

Percival found he did not like or appreciate the way the boy countered each of his words with his own. The boy gritted his teeth together as he listened to the other call him naive. He didn't think himself naive for believing being direct was a good idea. "Yes, but catching someone off guard gives them less time to think up a lie." he shortly said as he glared at the boy.

His plan on getting the truth from Pincus would only continue to be delayed. As the boy reminded him that he could simply give him a fake name. It hadn't really occurred to him until this point, and he could not help but agree with his words. Percival couldn't actually confirm the name that Pincus would give him. His only option would be to check the dormitories again. Though, the chance of the green-haired boy disappearing was too big of a possibility to be acceptable. "I could force a name out of you. I can make you talk." he snapped. Percival clenched his fists tighter as he listened to the other. It was frustrating. Not understanding what the other meant about wrong questions. Was he not seeing something? "You are quite priggish." he snarked. Disliking the way the other was talking down to him. Don't worry Pincus I want to know everything about you. I want to figure out this weird mystery about you, and I'm not going to rest until I do." he said in a serious tone. Though, in reality, he wouldn't really go without rest. It was hard to think straight with little to no sleep. "Are you even apart of the Slytherin house?" he asked. If the boy wanted him to ask different questions he would do so. Maybe then he would actually get some answers.

Percival's mouth twisted down as he thought about the boy being a hag. He was fairly certain the other was simply pulling on his leg. Though, this school had a streak of producing the worse possible situations. He was fairly certain that hags only appeared as old and ugly women. The boy's next words brought him to a pause. Alone Percival tensed slightly suddenly feeling rather vulnerable. Though, despite this, a glower was frozen on his face. As discretely as possible he did a preliminary check of the corridor. Unease settled low in his gut as he realized just how alone he was with the other. Percival had been certain that other students were just here. Where had they all gone? The boy watched the other boy circle him like a wolf circling its prey. Unwilling to look away from the boy's lime green head. It was strange the feeling that if he looked away for one second he would be dead. His brows started to furrow with more concern than anger. The boy felt as if his breath was being caught in his throat. Swallowing thickly did next to nothing to reduce this feeling. His heart thumped in his chest as he started to feel the pull of fight or flight. Percival wanted to run away but his pride kept him rooted to the spot. He would never be able to live it down if he ran away from the green-haired boy like a scared four-year-old.

"I don't need a lesson from you." he snapped at the boy despite the worry that threatened to take over him. Percival had trouble telling how much of the boy's talk was aimed to make him bend over in his fear. He wondered if Pincus expected him to backtrack and apologize profusely like a child who had realized he had pushed his father too far. The thought brought a sneer to his face. "I swear if you try and touch me I'll make you regret ever doing so." he said in a serious tone. Percival would have continued to speak if his words weren't so thoroughly snatched away from him. The once lime-haired boy now had an exceptionally different color. Too blond to ever be considered a trick of the light. The shade looked far too familiar for comfort. He wondered if the boy was trying to mock him openly with the shade he despised so much. "You're a Metamorphmagus." he stated his eyes wide in surprise. There was no doubt about it. No other answers to explain what he had just seen with his eyes.

At Percival's comment about catching someone off-guard, Isaac looked momentarily caught off-guard himself. Then he smiled mirthlessly, tipped his head, and spread his arms in a slight gesture of concession. "Fair enough," he agreed.

The threat to force a name out of him, however, and to be able to make him talk, caused the now-blonde boy to actually throw back his head and laugh. He laughed so long and hard, he ended up doubling over clutching his stomach. By the time his laughter finally started to die down into chuckles, he was wiping tears from his eyes.

"You can, can you?" Isaac guffawed. "Please, by all means! I would love to learn how you intend to try. Though again, I could give you an infinite number of names regardless of whether they're the ones you want or not. Rumplestiltskin, for example. And no need to make me talk when I'm already talking quite a bit." He groaned softly at the cramp in his stomach from laughing so hard. "...Yes...I am quite priggish, aren't I? Wonder why that is..."

He rubbed at his eyes some more as he listened to Percival continue. It almost got him started all over again to hear him say he wanted to know everything about him. "My, you are a Nosy Nelly, aren't you? Very well...you've already figured out too much. Might as well tell you the rest." His smirk was dangerous when he turned to meet the other boy's eyes again. Their irises were now also the same dark shade. "Just don't end up regretting choosing this path you've set yourself upon. You chose it, after all."

Isaac seemed to ignore the question about if he was of the Slytherin house; seemed to act like he hadn't even heard it. He was regarding Percival with a predatory smile, obviously relishing how the truth of his words appeared to be sinking in. The blonde young man - the true blonde - was beginning to show obvious signs of panic such as his glance around his immediate surroundings. Isaac, meanwhile, only continued to fix Percival with his steady stare.

He waited like a cat biding his time, patiently standing by for the perfect opportunity to strike that he knew was coming. That moment arrived the instant the revelation of Isaac's true nature left Percival's mouth.

"Correct," he uttered, his grin growing at the widening of those dark eyes. Green spilled back into the blonde he had borrowed and his own irises paled into their previous yellow. Then he turned on his heels again and began to walk off briskly down the corridor.

"Follow me."

Percival froze as he watched the boy's unnerving display. He took a step away from the other, as he watched the boy laugh loudly. It seemed to echo off the walls and vibrate with hidden malice. It put him on edge, and it made him want to run away. The display seemed over the top, and he wondered if that was the point. The boy couldn't help but glower as the boy proved he could simply just lie. He couldn't help but feel downtrodden at this fact. This interrogation had not gone the way he had planned. It had gone severely in the opposite direction of what he had planned. The boy narrowed at the other's comment. Disliking the way he insinuated that he had a reason to be priggish.

"I am not nosy." he denied letting annoyance seep into his tone. The boy felt elated for a few seconds after hearing that the other would tell him what he wanted to know. Before crashing back down into unease as the other continued to speak. He wondered why the other had to always remain so mysterious. Acting as if his true nature would shatter his soul. Percival highly doubted he would fall over dead after learning about the other's real name. Though it made him wonder if something else was lurking under the surface. Something he could only somewhat make out in the muddy waters. Something...monstrous.

Percival watched the boy's hair return to its previous green, and he found himself unable to look away. It was curiosity, but it had turned into more of a morbid curiosity. Like a child who had found a dead squirrel in their back yard. He wanted to investigate, but at the same time, he wanted to turn and run away. Percival's brows furrowed together as the other turned and walked away from him. The boy took a step after him as words rose in his throat to stop the other. Though, he paused at the other's words. It felt like he was following the other to his death sentence. His words held little clue in where he was bringing him or why, but he had the inkling sensation it would be to explain things. Though, it was just as likely the other was leading him to a quiet corner to take care of him. After a few moments of pause, the boy followed after the older boy. Percival had never been one to think things through, and he wasn't about to start now.

It was quite a ways to the north tower from where they'd started, but Isacc kept a brisk pace and didn't even bother looking back over his shoulder. Instead, he kept an ear out every so often for Percival's footfalls to make sure the younger boy was following.

Eventually they made it to their destination. Isaac didn't skip a beat as he took a set of keys out of his pocket, unlocked the door, and stepped on through. Once Percival got close enough, he reached out and grabbed the blonde by the front of his shirt before bodily yanking him into the room and shutting the door behind them both.

"Regading what you're soon about to learn in this room," the green-haired young man said as he undid his tie, stepping behind a folding screen and glancing back over his shoulder at Percival, "you keep a secret from anyone else who doesn't already know."

One of the cabinets shuddered lightly nearby. The desk drawer near the front of the room rattled as if in response.

"In case you weren't already aware," Isaac's voice continued to drift from behind the folding screen over the faint rustle of clothes. "This is the caretaker's office." A moment later, a 6'3" figure stepped out from the other side of the folding screen.

"And I am the caretaker."

As he spoke, his voice gradually changing from Isaac's to someone else's entirely. Beaming broadly, the caretaker walked up to Percival and extended a hand.

"Call me Kit. How do you do?"
