Alan would watch as @Santario Martin followed suit, this time it would be @Logan Baird being hit by the spell; Ventus. A jet of wind would leave the tip of Santario's wand and visualized as swirling wind, lit by a grey light, the spell would easily find its target as it hit Logan with full force. Alan had to force his voice down, as he was sure that whooping at Santario's success would have made him look unfair. He was equally excited for both teams however and it made him wonder if that was simply the spirit of duelling, it felt different than he had always expected. It felt neither strict nor violent. The competitiveness was clear yet there was some clear enjoyment in the room and it opened up a veil to a whole new world for the Gryffindor as he watched the duel move onwards excitedly, cringing as he watched Bridget backfire her spell, hitting herself with the curse. Soon enough she would feel her throat and nose clog up with mucus, transforming her voice into a more nasaly and croaky voice that strained on her vocal cords as her complexion grew slightly pale and her eyes glossed over lightly. She would feel uneasy but not beyond her comfort zone of being able to cast, possibly. Alan doubted that either of those duellist would give up so easily.

Luckily for Bridget, she would still be able to barely stumble out of a Incendio's way that was send towards her by none other than Logan. It looked like it had been a close call, Alan was sure that if Bridget had been a little bit slower, she would have been hit. Perhaps if she was not too busy feeling sick, she might have felt the heat of a flame as the spell rushed past her face into nothingness.

The feeling of being off to a good start was gone as quickly as it had come. She wasn't sure quite what had caused it, all she knew was the distinct feeling something was wrong, and then that she was getting a faceful of her own spell. Not again. It looked like she'd graduated from backfiring in the first round to in the second round and she was not happy about it.

It was decidedly frustrating to put in so much work to prevent this exact scenario and have it happen anyway. And the problem wasn't just her failure, but that she was unreliable. Ideally, she could trust herself to make a strategy happen, but instead she had to worry about the potential of the spell missing horribly or straight-up coming out of the wrong end of her wand. This was also worse than the last spell she'd had backfire. Then it had only been the Tongue-Tying Spell. Annoying, but not detrimental. That was something she'd simply had to wait to wear off and this, this disgusting feeling of a cold coming on, her nose already starting to run, did not fall under the same category. At least if she could count on anything, it was her own agility, so when Logan's Incendio came at her, despite the momentary distraction, she was able to just get out of the way in time. Well, at least she wasn't on fire.

And Santario, as Bridget figured she would, had something to show for, her Wind Jinx hitting its mark this time. Hopefully this wasn't the start of Santario doing all the work to lead them to victory again. "Sorry," she muttered, swiping at her nose with her sleeve. On top of being embarrassing, she could tell the curse was going to be a pain.

Well, if she had anything going for her, it was that the only two ways she'd leave this platform was unconscious or victorious. One backfired spell wasn't going to change that. All she could do was keep casting and hope she turned things around... preferably before her magically induced cold became a problem.

Logan had been confident in her spell aimed at Bridget, although she honestly wasn't surprised when the older Slytherin was able to dodge the spell. What Logan should have been paying attention to was the spell aimed at her by the other Slytherin. Maybe if she had been paying a little more attention she would have been able to dodge the spell. Logan was impressed honestly when she was hit with the Ventus spell. She wasn't able to cast the spell, so she was impressed when someone in her year was able to cast it perfectly. Logan shook her head though, she needed to keep her head in the game.

The young Hufflepuff glanced over at her partner and sighed, at least she seemed like she was doing okay. "We can do this Lucia!" Logan called out to the girl with a determined look on her face as she glanced over at their opponents. What the girl almost hadn't noticed was that Bridget's spell had backfired and she now had the effects of the spell. Logan scrunched her face up in slight disgust. Curse of the Bogies was probably the worst spell to have backfire on you. She kind of felt bad for the Slytherin, although she didn't have much time to think about everything that was going on.

Alan soon realized that Bridget did not take the backfired spell well, but how could she? Both of them appeared to be now out for blood and to be more specific, badger blood. Both of them would turn towards Lucia, hitting her with two Knockback jinxes. Alan could not help but cringe, it must surely have been painful. One of the spells would hit her rib cage whereas the other one could have barely missed her shoulder instead of hitting it; both of those spells probably leaving bruises that he could heal after the duel. Alan shook his head, glancing at the Hufflepuff girls, one of them would barely miss Santario with Incendio whereas Logan successfully got rid of the windy swirls surrounding herself with a General Counter-Spell.

It was not looking exactly good for Lucia who looked like she had been hit by a lot, yet she was still standing. But it did not look exactly good for Slytherin either, both of them still had not been hit by damaging spells but if he could judge the Curse of the Bogies correctly, then Bridget would not last long. He felt bad for the girl who grew more pale the more time passed as her eyes glossed over with dark bags forming below her eyes. What a cruel curse.

Eyes on the yellow. Right. It was only one spell out of many and the worst thing she could do was let it affect her going forward. Her resulting cold would be enough to deal with on its own, anyhow. Santario's encouragement was appreciated and Bridget figured the best way to show it was to get her head back in the game.

They said the same thing at the same time, two Flipendos arcing towards the same target. Unlike when they'd used the same tactic against Phaedra, both spells struck true. A devastating blow to Lucia, to be sure. Bridget naturally felt a little bad for the Hufflepuff, but this was a duel. This sort of thing was necessary for the competition.

Santario narrowly avoided Lucia's Incendio, just as her Flipendo had only barely managed to land. It didn't really matter how close things had been to going the other way, though, since she'd pulled it off. Logan had spent the round removing the wind she was trapped in. A round not spent sending spells at them, at least. Nothing had come her way, which gave her time to tend to her intensifying cold. Her sleeve was going to be disgusting by the end of this, which was all the more reason to leave the stage on her feet so she could remedy the fact right away. One spell at a time, then. They could do this.
