Violin music
Jennifer was quite grateful she brought her violin. It let her escape from the pressure of the world. The unfairness of it all. That mudbloods were allowed here and that hating them was wrong. Sigh.
How... unfortunate. She walked to the rehearsal room, wearing the usual uniform but in a better way. Her shirt tucked in, and she was wearing pants while other girls chose skirts. Her outfit was perfectly ironed, and she had on an emerald green sweater under her cloak. Her hair was in a bun, the way her mother preferred it be when she practiced violin.
She entered the room, and to her pleasure it was empty. Her footsteps echoed as she found a seat and got her violin ready. She closed her eyes, and took a breath. Slowly, she began. Violin took her away from her troubles and the pressure to be perfect. But she enjoyed pushing herself to be above others and she enjoyed herself the way she was. Jennifer King. Noble daughter.
She kept playing. She was oblivious to the world around her and didn't notice when the door opened to the rehearsal room and someone probably stepped in. She didn't notice anything.

Playing along side @Jennifer King
There were two main places you could find Simon Kincaid when not in classes or his Common Room - the Library or the Rehearsal Room. He spent countless hours researching anything and everything that came to his mind in conjunction with the wizarding world and also enjoyed reading as a pastime. Still, his main hobby was music.
Often he came to the Rehearsal Room for a place in which he could play. He had his guitar with him but not on this particular day. Instead it rested up on his bed back in his room in Hengist Home, his dormitory within the Hufflepuff wing of the castle. It was the perfect room for someone like him, as they were private quarters and he could stay up late without disturbing any doormats and there was no window, as he tended to avoid the sun.
This particular evening he wanted to play the piano. The professors had stacked up quite a lot of work lately and he just needed a break from all of that. Music was many things to him, a release from stress was one. Making his way toward the Rehearsal Room, he heard the music even before getting to the doors. His hope was that it wasn't the ballet club in there practicing and was relieved to find out it wasn't. He was impressed though, as the playing was rather remarkable.
Simon entered slowly and was careful to not disturb the girl. At first, he sat at the piano bench waiting for her to finish her song but when it was apparent that this song was quite long, he slowly began to plate a few notes that turned into a few more until he was practically paying a piano accompaniment to her violin playing.

At one point, Jenny heard another instrument playing alongside. But she paid no notice because it sounded beautiful. In the moment, she wasn't thinking. She kept her eyes closed, until the very end. She played the one last final note before opening her eyes and placing her violin in its case. She took a swing of water from her bottle and caught her breath. She didn't acknowledge the boy just yet. She set the bottle down and finally looked at the boy. Not speaking, she searched for any recognition. No, she didn't know him. He must not be a Slytherin.
"May I help you? That was a great duet, by the way." She walked over. "You can really play." She lifted an eyebrow. "My name is Jennifer King. I don't suppose you recognize the name?" She assumed he wasn't pureblood. Or higher class. But he didn't seem like a mudblood. "Blood status?" If he was a half-blood, she maybe would tolerate him. They weren't as bad as mudbloods. Mudbloods. A waste of magic. Sigh. "I'm assuming you're not in Slytherin? I've never seen you before." She crossed her arms.
He did kind of just walk in and play with no permission to join, but he was good.

Making introductions with @Jennifer King
The girl stopped playing and he let silence fall upon the Rehearsal Room for a moment but as she began to put the violin back in its case, he began to gently play around at the keys again on the piano before him. This time he could do as he pleased and it didn't matter if it sounded good with hers.
He glanced up, still playing a little as the girl approached him. She was someone he didn't recognize which still sometimes happened although they were well more than halfway into their first year. She complimented him; at least he thought so. It was hard to tell with her mannerisms.
She then introduced herself and seemed to think he was to know who she was. It reminded him of a couple girls he had been partnered with in classes. Same demeanor. Then she asked his blood status.
"No, not in Slytherin. Simon Kincaid, Hufflepuff," he said with a kind smile. "Human," he added, for an answer for blood status. Of course he knew she meant pureblood, halfblood, muggleborn, etc. but honestly, didn't it all just come down to the fact that they were all humans? Didn't it truly just come down to the fact that they all, animals alike, were just God's creatures on this Earth?
