A Cheery Encounter PV Haley Rose Finished

Haley mentioned a Bowtruckle island, which she seemed really excited about. He had read about them once and he always thought it sounded absolutely amazing. She seemed so excited about the topic which made him really happy because it wasn't often he found people who liked magical creatures. He saw her eyes glance at his book again and she commented on how he must have really studied the book well.

He felt his face go slightly red in embarrassment, it was true that he had studied the book a lot, possibly to much. "The book was originally my mum's and before I could read she would always me this book which quickly became one of my favorites. Eventually, she just let me have it and I've read this book a million times. I've never really seen any magical creatures but any book I could get about them I would read and take notes on," Maverick explained, flipping to the page on Bowtruckles and looking through the notes.

"The island should be in the middle of the lake. You'll need a boat to get to it and even then they made not come out immediately. It would probably take a number of trips until you get the Bowtruckles to trust you but it's definitely worth a shot," he told her, also fascinated by a whole island full of Bowtruckles.

Fancy an adventure? @Maverick Anwyll

Haley listened intently to Maverick when he told her that he had the book from his mother. She liked the idea that the knowledge was passed on from generation to generation and maybe one day he would pass on his knowledge to his children and so on. Haley had a great relationship with her parents but because she had found out late that she was a witch and her father was a muggle, she hadn't learned much about magic in her early years. She had read all sorts of books about Hogwarts and the wizarding world since she found out, but she hadn't received any books with notes from her mother. Or her grandmother or anyone else in the family. Family history was still a difficult subject but she didn't want to think about that today.

"Oh yes, I know where it is. It will take some time before they trust you but I think I could do it. I've read a lot about them and I think it's impressive how Newt has built up trust with them." She noticed her enthusiasm taking over again and shook her head. "Sorry I talk too much, don't I?" She looked down at her hands, a little embarrassed.

"Maybe you'd like to go on this adventure with me?" Haley loved adventures and she loved exploring Hogwarts. There was so much more she wanted to discover here. Secret passages, Bowtruckle Island, Room of Requirement. Even though she had already discovered one place in Hogwarts, the Chamber of Secrets, there were still many adventures ahead of her and she was always happy to have a partner by her side.

Maverick listened to Haley as she once again excitedly talked about the island. He found it exciting to meet someone who was just as fascinated with the creatures as he was. After she finished though, the Gryffindor girl apologized, thinking she had been talking to much. This Maverick disagreed with, she was excited about the subject which was why she talked so much about it. Before he could say anything though, Haley asked if he would like to go on the adventure with her.

He hadn't been expecting her to ask this but definitely wasn't going to pass on the opportunity to see Bowtruckles in person. "That would be really awesome, I've always wanted to see them in person and you seem to be fascinated by them as well so that would be brilliant, he said with excitement with a twinkle in his eyes. This really wasn't an opportunity the young Ravenclaw boy could just past up.

"Also you don't have to apologize, you were excited so it makes sense you would have a lot to say," he reassured her, knowing the feeling far to well, "I know I definitely talk a lot when I talk about things I really like, I can talk about creatures for hours when given the chance so it's really ok." He smiled slightly at her, hoping it would make her feel better. He himself often would apologize after going on a long rant even if it was ok so he knew the feeling.

Can barely wait to see some Bowtruckles @Maverick Anwyll

Haley wasn't sure if Maverick would answer her question positively. She knew it was probably a bit weird in some way that she asked him, after all they had only known each other for five minutes, but she was even more pleased when he said yes. Her joy was written all over her face and she smiled broadly at him. "Perfect. When do we leave?" She would have preferred to set off straight away, she could be so impatient but hold herself back and forced her body to sit still.

It was nice to hear his words and know that he didn't mind when Haley spoke so enthusiastically without a full stop. "Thanks. I'll be happy to listen to you for hours if you ever want to tell me more about creatures." She gave him a smile and something told her that this encounter could turn into a good friendship.

Haley couldn't explain it, sometimes she thought it was the magic here at Hogwarts but it seemed like she was meeting the right people at just the right moment. People she helped in difficult situations. People who helped her in difficult situations and people who were just as clumsy as she was. And all these encounters had developed into friendships. Some closer than others but she was incredibly grateful for each one.

And the Ravenclaw boy sitting across from her, who was a little reserved at first, was one of those encounters she was grateful for. She hadn't known him long and certainly not well but what she did know she liked. "So I think we should plan our adventure and leave as soon as possible." She laughed and tucked her fists into her waist and put on a serious look. "Always ready and always looking for new memories which I can tell someday my children." She winked and her serious look turned into a laugh.

Haley could often be silly and was always trying to make people laugh around her but mostly it just happened because of her funny nature. She was the one who was always laughing and infecting many with her laughter and the nonsense in her head.

Maverick watched the very excited Gryffindor girl as she asked when they would go, slightly amused. She was a very odd girl but he didn't mind, people tended to think he was as well. Haley seemed very excited to set off and even said it herself, including that she was always looking for stories to tell to her children. She began to laugh at this and he couldn't help but laugh with her, even if it was sort of quiet. He would be lying if he said he wasn't excited as well and would gladly set off know but he knew better.

"Well, I suppose we could set off now but we probably want to prepare," he told her, putting his book back in his bag and closing it up. "First off we would need to find a boat to even get to the island and I'm not really sure where we would find one. Of course, we could try and swim but that seems like a really bad idea so I just we don't do that," he explained to her, leaning back against the tree thinking.

There were obviously boats because that was how they came across the lake to the castle but he wasn't sure where they put them. He also wasn't very confident when it came to rowing a boat so he kind of hoped Haley had more knowledge when it came to that part of the plan.

He was right, of course, they had to prepare and could not just go on this adventure without a plan. She watched him as he took his book and listened intently to his words. She had to laugh at the thought of them swimming through the cold lake. But it would be too risky to upset Herman. Haley felt a little sad at this thought. Herman, that's what she and her good friend Alina had named the giant squid, where nobody knew if it really existed or not. She quickly shook off that thought, today was not the day to be sad.

So, step number one, how would they get there? The easiest thing would be a boat and there were definitely boats around. "So I think we should just look for the boats. We'll probably find them where we left off at the beginning of the school year." It seemed almost too easy, but Haley couldn't think of anything better. And just because it was simple didn't mean it couldn't be done.

But what was more interesting to her were the next steps. She knew somehow they would get there and if they swam but how could they gain the trust of the Bowtruckles? She knew it would take a few visits and maybe it would never work but she didn't want to go to this island unprepared. She tried to remember all her knowledge of Bowtruckles and started to list it in a jumble.

"We shouldn't get too close to the tree at first. It's unusual for Bowtruckles to attack you but if they think we might attack their tree, it could happen." Of course that was unlikely but Haley wouldn't want to take any chances, "Maybe we can get some wood lice somehow, that might get us sympathy points." She continued to think if there was anything else that could help them but for now she couldn't think of anything.

She now looked back at Maverick, "Did I forget anything important? Can you think of anything else?"

Maverick listened intently to what the Gryffindor said, nodding his head in silent agreement to what she said. It's true that they would also have to gain the trust of the bowtruckles, which would be the hardest part. Haley had listed off things they would need or have to do which he agreed with. He couldn't think of anything else Bowtruckles related besides what they would do if they believed they or their tree were in danger. He assumed she already knew this though so decided not to bring it up.

"I can't personally think of anything else that could be useful at the moment," he told her, tapping his fingers lightly on the ground in thought. "Finding Woodlice should be easy enough, especially if we can find any wood or plants that are rotting," he informed her, trying to think of any places that could have these things, "It definitely couldn't hurt anything if we brought them some."

Bowtruckles were extremely shy and timid creatures but could be very dangerous, even if they were classified as harmless. The last thing he wanted was to have his eyes gouged out by the small creatures, so it couldn't hurt bringing some gifts."We at least somewhat have a plan now I suppose," he said, looking back over to the Gryffindor girl. It was still kind of a rough plan but it was better than nothing.

So that was their plan. It wasn't much but it was better than nothing and since neither of them had any further ideas about what else they should pay attention to or what else they would need, the plan was now final. She shrugged her shoulders. "Looks like it. I guess that's our plan now." But a few small details were still missing. Specifically, meeting place, day and time. "So when do we want to go on our little adventure?" She had no preferences and would let Maverick decide. She was usually very flexible and since she had nothing else planned for the week she was sure they would find a suitable date.

While she was still sitting there talking to her new friend - were they friends? She wasn't sure, but if they weren't yet, she was sure they would be. - Her mind wandered and she imagined how incredible it would be if the two of them really succeeded in finding the Bowtruckles and gaining their trust. She could hardly wait and it was already clear that the disappointment would be big if they didn't succeed, but Haley couldn't even think about that yet because of her excitement.

"You know Mav, this is going to be a great project, I'm sure of it." She smiled enthusiastically at him. She couldn't really read his expression and couldn't tell if he was as enthusiastic as Haley, she just hoped she wasn't annoying him with her manner.

He thought for a few seconds, not sure when they should start. He didn't personally have any plans so pretty much any time would work. He listened as Haley said how she believed this would be great. Maverick agreed with her and could tell how excited she was. He smiled slightly, not sure if his own excitement was coming through but was excited either way. "I think your right about that, this will definitely be amazing," he told her, smiling once again, he couldn't wait for their plan to be put into action.

"Date and time wise I'm not super sure on," he stated, thinking about what would be the best options. " I would say as soon as possible but it probably want to wait till the end of the week so we don't have to worry about our classes. Plus, that would also let us have more time to find a boat and some woodlice and just more time in general," he continued, hoping this would be convenient for the Gryffindor girl as well. They would obviously have to wait until after classes but overall this would just give them more time to prepare.

"This is really exciting," he told her. He really couldn't wait to finally see some magical creatures. He had always been rather fond of bowtruckles, he always thought they were rather cute, of course he thought most creatures were cute in their own way. Plus, he had possibly even made a new friend or would once their adventure began. He was really glad he decided to come out to today, even if it hadn't gone as planned.

Haley could now see Maverick's smile and even though it was barely visible, she knew he was as excited as she was. Not necessarily by his body language but by his words. She knew he was honest and so she was now looking forward even more to their adventure together. Haley nodded in agreement when Mav suggested they wait until the end of the week. And he was right about that. "Yeah, I think you're right. Saturday after breakfast?"

Haley smiled broadly again at his words. She couldn't wait herself and was glad that the two of them could share this excitement. What a surprising day for Haley. Until the meeting it had been so quiet and she had wanted to spend the rest of the time in peace with her book and now she had a new friend, an intention for Saturday and a plan. And that's what made this day perfect.

"I'm really looking forward to it." And with those words, Haley stood up. She held out her hand and waited for Mav to take it. Then she shook his and laughed, "It's been a pleasure doing business with you...um...making plans." She picked up her bag and book and said goodbye to her new acquaintance and made her way into the castle and back to the Gryffindor common room.
