ROUND TWO
The ice’s choppy surface posed an inconvenience for experienced and inexperienced skaters alike. Ruka Tan did a nice job finding a stretch that was mostly level, at least subtracting one of many obstacles a skater must overcome. The weather has been cold enough to ensure a thick layer that would not be penetrated by the weight of these adolescents. Though the sun began to creep through the gray pall overhead. The temperature steadily rose and with it came a surface riddled with inconsistency.

As the students navigated this designated space, they would find sludgy stretches throughout a mostly crisp surface. That with the game’s progression would only worsen. Snow would build up in the heavily accessed areas near where the faceoffs are taken and the outside of a tender’s net. Perhaps impeding a puck’s fluid journey. The bumps would provide unpredictable spice to an already largely inefficient band of wizards.

Hogwarts students would do what they do best: adjust. Not as familiar with ice as fire, but given the appropriate amount of time, the majority of skaters were able to find their footing, ready to make an impact in this exhibition. However, there were two exceptions. One of them appeared voluntary, Thomas Lestrange’s leisurely sprawl was reminiscent of an afternoon on the beach. The boy seemingly content with a cold arse as he uttered incantations at his gliding opponents.

The other, a small Huffle boy by the name of @@Jake Morris. Who initially had no issues maintaining his footing, but perhaps lost confidence after he discovered the ability to stop was equally as important. Still, checking was a big part of the game, and a miniscule bump into his opponent still made more of an impact than his counterparts. Morris did not seem to realize it, uttering an apology to his...opponent?! A cardinal sin! Perhaps one of the boy’s teammates could provide a wake up call that would inspire him to depart from this care bear attitude.[Love you Jake] This is hockey!

To make things worse, in Jake’s approach to the action, his skate caught one of the aforementioned bumps that come with a neglected ice surface. Jake Morris has fallen, only able to get back up while the others pursued the puck. The recipient of his aimless bump, @Heinrich Bezuidenhout, displayed a strong core and kept his footing in approach to an already reeling @Dealla Prince.

Amidst a heavy forecheck, @Percival Gray managed to obtain the puck with eyes for the tender’s cage. @Opeila Winters was already short enough to stand below the goal’s crossbar, surely at a disadvantage sprawled on the ice surface. Percival identified this opportunity, putting his weight on his stick to corral the puck, firing it over Winters to give his team an early lead.

@Thomas Lestrange was simply chillin’, confident enough in his team’s puck possession game to remain the lounged caster. After his many encounters with Erin Ryan[yes I always find a way to mention], one could argue the veela charm did not impact the boy the way it would his counterparts. Not that he was prejudiced [hopefully not], he did not know or carry any quarrels with the @Lydia Cooper, red-headed beauty of house Hufflepuff. It just so happens she was his next target, which could be attributed to her impressive display thus far. From his side Thomas uttered the incantation, a curse that may offer additional discomfort given the cold climate they play.

Perhaps a bit disgruntled after he was on the receiving end of a check and awkward embrace, Heinrich eyed the now humbled Ravenclaw. Pushing the heel of his skate blade into the ice, the boy lowered his frame on his way to execute a check. Despite her involuntary backward drift after a spell from the opponent’s goalie, Dealla sensed the boy nearing, displaying good instincts to weave away from the Hufflepuff’s attempted check. The girl’s initial impressive display appeared to gather the attention of her opposing team, as following Heinrich’s wiff, @Henry Knight pivoted towards her from the opposite side. Though the Ravenclaw dueling captain was already on her toes after being the recipient of many attacks, she would make herself small and slant her frame just enough to avoid Henry’s charge. From the moment the puck dropped, it was all Dealla’s aquamarine eyes would search for. Not even her own friends could be trusted, a familiar face came zooming through the center of the ice, coming far out of position in a hunt for her counterpart that was seemingly a far better dancer on skates than feet. @Ileen Knight may have been familiar enough with the girl to anticipate her movements, or Dealla was simply winded from the many checking attempts at her expense. @Flash Holmwood remained on the play’s exterior, carefully evaluating a beneficial approach for his club. After the damage was done that left his team down 1-0, he eyed the opponent who found himself in the middle of the play to execute a textbook bodycheck. Though the first year maintained his footing, once again displaying impressive strength, and perhaps a natural ability as a skate.
Willow
Reducio
Puck is currently not in the game, so action is void.
And then there was @Willow Anderson, cute as ever in her rainbow jacket with pink accessories, long white sleeves that withheld enough friendship bracelets that may give a Hogwarts outsider the impression the school was not doomed to fire and blood after all. She coasted towards the front of the net, displaying confidence in her ability to simply...not fall. She awaited a rebound that would not come, turning back to defend as puck possession returned to the opposing team.
Who gets the Puck?

Who does Opeila pass the puck to?
Roll: Flash or Jake

Flash has the puck.
Opeila regrouped in her crease, eyeing the group of teammates that had their sticks on the ice in preparation for a pass. Her eyes flickered between Jake and Flash, before sending the puck towards her defenceman, Holmwood. Flash was now in possession of the puck, down 1-0.

He couldn't say they were recovering from their fumbles very well. Though the match had started off strongly in their favor, Flash was now looking at most of his team stalling out as Percival scored. He wasn't exactly happy about him having another thing to brag about, but he wasn't exactly in a position to decry his earned goal either. He had never been a sore loser, but that didn't mean he didn't really want to win, too. Competition had fueled him in the past, and he was feeling the familiar fire in his stomach start to boil.

The rest of the gathering at least seemed to be able to keep their footing now, except for his fellow defenseman, the one covered in pillows. He floundered onto the ice and slid, instead of stopping Percival like he was trying to. As much fervor as their team seemed to have, perhaps it had boiled over a bit. 'Trying too hard' as they say. Flash figured there needed to be a bit more cohesion if possible. He waved to Opeila, who had chosen to stay seated on the ice and try to block that way. One would think it would make the task easier, but it flew past her when shot. Flash was just glad it didn't hit her head, they weren't exactly wearing the kind of protective gear that is usually expected from such a game. At least it seemed the nurse was on the sidelines-- hockey was a brutal game in the right circumstances, so it was a small relief.

Not having been able to concentrate on the other end of the arena, Flash had no idea that Thomas had cast a spell on his ally, merely thinking that the cold air had effected poor Lydia more than others. She seemed overcome with the symptoms of a terrible cold, he wondered if it was even responsible to allow her to keep playing instead of sending her to get it treated.

"Miss Lydia, are you alright?" He nearly had to yell it to be heard over the frigid wind.

Before he could do any chivalrous acts however, his wave was answered by Opeila sending the puck back his way. He was indeed one of the only people available, but that put him in a fairly precarious position. Not that it was one he couldn't handle, he was born to be in control. In fact, this was for the best. This round, things were going to be very different. He glanced around briefly, before dashing back the opposite way with the puck.

She was already ready to speed up again, chase off after the puck that was currently travelling towards Opeila and the goal she was (hopefully) guarding, so Ileen's concerned question didn't earn more than a distracted smile and a chirped, "Yeah, I'm good! Sorry, gotta go help my team beat yours."

Honestly, Dee wasn't the biggest team player. She obviously wasn't the closest of her team to the puck, not the one in the best position to intercept it before Percival tried to score. Others were headed in the same direction. And yet, that was where she was going, not trusting any of her team mates to be stable enough on their skates to do the job - which was confirmed right away when Jake lost his footing and awkwardly skidded across the ice. But Percival had been faster than all of them, anyway.

While Dee was flitting across the ice with the intention of stealing that puck back at top speed, suddenly a lot of things happened at once. She could see that Hufflepuff first year who had barely managed to swing his hockey stick in the right direction during their face off moving in a direction that would likely have them cross paths from the corner of her eyes, and sped up a little more - only to see Percival shooting the puck in direction of her team's goal. She did, however, not have the time to figure out whether it actually went into the goal, because suddenly, she had to dodge bodies left and right.

Her prediction of the first year's course had been correct, so she easily managed to avoid him, curving around gracefully and even offering him a cheeky grin while she passed, all confidence and sanguinity, a spark in her eyes. This almost turned to be her downfall, though, as she nearly missed the other boy coming at her from the side. The smile dropped off her face, as did the bravado, because this was going to be close. She only barely managed to dodge him, speeding up a little more and turning her body more by instinct than choice, but still - she glided past him unoffended, and only just fought down the urge to stick out her tongue at him. Didn't they have anyone else they could try to run over?

Still, she mustered a relatively unconcerned "Watch where you're going!" over her shoulder before turning to face forward again and immediately recognising her mistakes. A - Percival didn't have the puck anymore. B - she had just gathered more speed, ignoring that she was close to reaching her goal. C - she still could not brake. Well. Only one thing to do then.

Instead of even attempting to brake, or dodging him the way she'd done with the other boys, Dee just braced herself for impact and crashed into him shoulder first, carried by her momentum. It was sadly (and unsurprisingly) not enough to send him tumbling to the ground like she'd hoped, taller and broader than her as he was, but it had honestly been kind of fun. Should he be looking at her, he'd find her grinning up at him, unapologetic and entirely unabashed, teeth showing. "Oops, sorry," she said insincerely, started backing away to see where the puck had gone, when suddenly, things went wrong.

She spotted a movement, just in the corner of her eye, and turned her head just in time to see Ileen hurtling towards her. Dee blinked, uncomprehending. Surely Ileen was going to skate past her? Make a movement to avoid, there was no reason for Dee to-

But there had been, she realised the second her friend made contact and sent Dee crashing to the ground with more force than she would have expected from Ileen. She fell hard, managing to protect her head but landing awkwardly on her shoulder - the one that was already throbbing from that dratted Knockback Jinx Lestrange had gifted her with. It hurt, pain radiating from shoulder and arm, and suddenly she didn't think all those attempts at knocking her down were all that funny anymore. "What the hell, Ileen!" Sitting up, she rubbed her shoulder with a gloved hand, aquamarine eyes hard and angry as she glared at her best friend. "Thanks for your concern, but just a piece of advice? If you want to seem genuine, try not to be the one tackling me to the ground ten seconds after asking." It was harsh and likely unfair - Ileen obviously wasn't the best skater around (although the one who likely was seemed very much content just spending the entire game on his behind) - but it was hard to believe Ileen had managed to follow her across the field this fast and at the same time been unable to adjust her course enough to not provoke this crash. She'd have taken a collision from anyone else better, even from her own team.

Three people trying to body-check her right after that Knockback Jinx? Apparently, somehow, she'd become a target for the entire opposing team, and Dee didn't appreciate it one bit.

Though Kazuo would race back across the ice, sights set on Percival, he would not get there in time. As he watched, Percy wound up and shot the puck straight for Opeila and the net she was attempting to guard while still flat on her bum. He groaned as the puck sailed over her head, grabbing the first goal of the game.

Despite being the prime target for the other team, he watched as Dealla managed to dodge two checks to land one of her own on Percival. Too bad it wasn’t fast enough to interrupt his shot. Lydia followed on Dealla’s heels with another check but Percival managed to dodge that one as well. He followed both girls with a check of his own but it seemed Percival was on guard against attackers and managed to weave away from him. As he slid to a stop, turning to reassess the field, he watched Opeila send the puck out to Flash.

“クソ野郎! (fucking bastard) He fixed his eyes on Percival as he spoke, eyes narrowing in irritation and though the grin on his face lightened the tone, it would still be apparent despite the different language that Kazuo was swearing. “Seems luck is favouring you, Slytherin, but it won’t last.”

He glanced at his teammates briefly before pushing off once more, ready to take the fight back to their opponents’ side of the ice.

Lydia was so focused on going towards her next target, the idea of tackling him and making him lose the puck stuck in her mind, that she didn't see Thomas cast a spell towards her. The moment that her eyes caught a glimpse of the curse, it was too late for her to stop her movements, and the spell hit her.

Even though she didn't hear which spell Pumpkin Juice Boy had cast towards her, the moment she felt her nose get stuffy and a wave of nausea hitting her, Lydia knew what was waiting for her. She had seen the Curse of the Bogies at work during her first duel, when Dealla had fainted from it, the symptoms of a bad cold and fever clearly written all over her face. Just as she was thinking about that, Lydia shivered -if from the cold or the curse, she wasn't too sure- and wrapped her arms around herself. Of all the spells he could have hit her with, did he have to choose something that would make her feel cold during an already cold day? "I hope I won't catch a proper fever because of this," she said towards Thomas, before she focused back on the game.

It was only in that moment that Lydia realised that Percival did not have the puck anymore, which meant that he had scored a point for his team; she thought about changing her idea, but in the end she still skated towards him, ready to tackle. However that did not happen, either because of bad luck or because of the curse of the bogies that had already started affecting her, and the boy managed to avoid her.

Lydia sighed and then promptly sneezed, her nose already bright pink; her attention got caught by Flash talking to her and she nodded, even if she probably already looked slightly unhealthy. "I'm alright Flash! It's just the Curse that he hit me with," she answered him with a nod towards Thomas as she tried to smile at her teammate. She wasn't that upset that Thomas had hit her with the spell, it was a game after all, she just wasn't looking forward what the curse would have brought as the time passed.

Trying to regain some concentration, the young Hufflepuff girl focused on her next move.

And point proven, Opeila was a terrible ice skater and an even worse ice hockey player. Her eyes still kept on the puck, Opeila tried to guard the goal- unsuccessfully. It shot right past her. The little Slytherin felt heat flushing her face, certainly giving it a rather bright red colour. How embarassing...
Still on the ground, Opeila pulled the puck out of the goal with her hockey stick and passed it over to her best friend.

There was more than one reason suddenly that she didn't want to be a Quidditch Player. Team sport was amazing and everything, but Opeila simply hated to make mistakes that lost her team points. Like she just did. Duelling was different. There it was only Adonis and her working together. Plus it was hard- or cruel even?- to blame the other when they just got knocked out by a spell.

Opeila sighed. No giving up, the game had to go on. The girl placed her hockey stick on the ground with the handle down, to pull herself up. One hand held the upper bar of the goal. It was kind of hard to play properly while sitting on the ground, also she was kinda scared to get a puck in the face.

Feeling more and more comfortable on her skates and with the stupid stick, Ileen rushed over the icy surface towards her best friend. It was not like she was actually concerned. Dee was still standing and looking slightly pissed but not seriously harmed. Yet.

But she wasn’t the only person storming over the ice, eyes fixed on the only Ravenclaw around. Heinrich, some first-year Hufflepuff Ileen had never noticed before tried to tackle Dee shortly after she was hit by a Flipendo. Ileen narrowed her eyes and tried to increase her speed which made her risk the balance again.
Inwardly, she was outraged. The young Slytherin knew nothing about ice hockey, but if the main strategy was to knock each other out, she wondered why she had even bothered with this stupid and impractical stick.
But there was apparently nothing to worry about. Dealla easily dodged that attack which was followed by another, only seconds later. Henry Knight, the boy Ileen still had some unsolved business with, tried to tackle her friend as well, but also quiet unsuccessful.

A gleeful grin curled her lips and she could only with effort suppress a disparaging snort. One could ask with some justification in which team Ileen actually played. Now that she saw who belonged to hers, she felt much more connected to the other…
Oh yeah, her own team. She could only with some effort prevent herself from casting a suspicious glance over her shoulder to check whether Thomas Lestrange would not use the opportunity to take revenge on her. Not that his sense of humor and the spells that come with it would send her belly-down on the ice right away. Yes, she was really very unforgiving.

She perhaps should have paid more attention, or thought about braking, because as she refocused on her course again, she crashed full force into Dealla, sending her best friend to the ground herself. Oops.
Ileen blinked in surprise and rubbed her aching shoulder. She was well aware of the irony of the situation, but was too startled to laugh about it. Her cheeks flushed in embarrassment as Dee shot a icy look at her.
Sorry. I wasn’t actually planning that.” She knew her friend well enough that it was wasted time to try to make it up to her now. Dee looked like she would likely kill someone in the next few minutes and Ileen didn’t intended to be that very person.
Still feeling guilty and back she gave her a last apologizing look, hoping that she would believe her and then tried to get the hell out of here. Dee would be fine. Hopefully.

To get out of range, the young Slytherin struggled to find a new goal. Her heart was pounding and she gripped her hockey stick tighter. Maybe it was time to really play the game and not just knock over friends.

Yes, his ass was cold, and yes Thomas wanted to get up, but perhaps being flopped on the ice gave his spellcasting a focused boost. The boy has never been a proficient spellcaster, he has not even attempted the incantation he sent the veela's way. Though as the flash of green left the tip of his wand, he angled the trajectory just ahead of her skating path, her shoulder absorbing the spell.

Mixed feelings arrived, the boy's blue eyes locking with his target when she looked his way. Was this Thomas Lestrange...feeling bad? Surely not, even if not the traditional display of stick and puck given the inclusion of magic, ice hockey was a tough one's game. It was the reason one-hundred-percent of professional skaters have lost teeth playing. What would one expect, bodies flying around a small rink at high speed with the intent to run opponents through the wall. And a rubber disc flying through the air at high speeds. It was a dangerous sport, and the physical troubles were rarely personal.

Cooper briefly located Lestrange, who still remain on his ass, now in a seated position with his wand resting gently atop his left knee. She shouted in his direction, though her ire for Thomas did not extend past the confines of understanding. Thomas nodded in her direction without a word, only a wry smile placed along his lips, it wasn't personal.

Past Lydia was Gray, who closed in on the opposing tender before firing a shot past Opeila and giving their team a 1-0 lead. Thomas beamed with nostalgia, offering his support, a rare case of enthusiasm from a boy fixed in despair. "Atta way Gray, not your first bout of shinny, eh?" Thomas shouted across the ice at Percival, though there was not much time for celebration--the opposing team removed the puck from the net and put it back into play.

In possession now was the ever-involved Holmwood. Yet to share a one-on-one conversation, though the two have been clued into a variety of situations. With the seemingly shared confidant, chatter fox, Thomas' subconscious would signal a wary disposition within Flash when the two locked eyes. Though Thomas was often in his own head, and his suspicions that Flash knew things about him could have been misplaced.

Lestrange gripped his wand tightly, staring across the playing surface at Flash. "A faceoff is supposed to follow a goal, but alright." Thomas muttered softly to himself, focusing the rubber puck on Flash's blade. He could not fault the general lack of knowledge of the players, but expected Ruka Tan to clarify this standard procedure. But when Thomas looked up to where Ruka once stood on the outskirts, he was nowhere to be seen. Where has Ruka gone?

The twelve year old would sail past the ravenclaw female still attempting to stop himself with his stick which eventually the boy did as he came to a halt right in front of his team's goal, next to the slytherin prefect and his team's goalie; Thomas Lestrange.

Henry was looking for something to do when he eyed Percival score giving his team the lead which was good but also allowed the boy's anxiety to increase since there wasn't much for him to do. The twelve year old wasn't physically strong or good at athletics which drastically limited his options for the round as the boy eyes wandered back toward the other attacker for his team, the hufflepuff boy whom he didn't know but thought for sure was the strongest attacker the team had before looking toward Thomas who gave him a signal.

A signal on what his next action will be and Henry nodded, still unsure with the goalies plan as his anxiety increased but will go through it as he skated on the edge of the ice to get into position his mind trying to focus with thoughts leading toward his anxiety on the rise at the same time but the twelve year old looked back over toward Thomas and remembered the boys signal before skating across the ice and sticking to the stagey.

Willow watched idly as all the action seemed to happen around her, she was prepared to catch some sort of rebound whatever that meant but it never came. She found herself carving a flower into the ice with the tip of her ice skate. Obviously she wasn't much of a threat, but she was happy to just be hanging out with her friends. Part of her even wanted to cheer for the other team that had some of her friends playing, but she knew that probably would be frowned upon by her own team.

After noting the location to show Flash the flower she had drawn with her ice skate after the game, her eyes came back up to watch people on the ice. Her cheeks were already getting a red rose tint to them from the cold, and breathing through her mouth made her feel like a dragon. The most vicious dragon on the ice! She moved her hockey stick around, pretending that she was a famous hockey player and whispering to herself. "She's on the final stretch... she shoots! She scores! Willow saves the hockey day!" She promptly began to pretend people were screaming for her, cheering for her absolute win at hockey. Even if she wasn't the main character of other's stories, she would for sure make sure she was the main character of her own.
