Percival was certain he had prepared everything for the surprise he had for Opeila. It seemed about high time for the two to have a date by themselves. Though, the earlier curfew did not help with his quest to set up a date. Unlike him, Opeila seemed rather attached to the rules set forth for her. So it seemed like a safe option to have their little date during the middle of dinner. It gave enough time for them to eat and enough time for them to hang out before curfew hit.

The two would be watching sun set. In truth, Percival was worried she would find it a bit too corny. Though he still hoped she would appreciate it even if it got a little too cold. Hopefully, with the two blankets, they would be able to stay warm enough. The boy had done his best to plan things out this time. The last time he hadn’t planned had resulted in a quite awkward evening. A green blanket was tucked under his arm left arm, and his schoolbag had been dumped out and refilled with a couple of snacks.

The air was chilly as Percival made his way towards the Quidditch Stands. With any luck, no one would come to bother them there. Not like they would be doing anything wrong, but he would rather not have some nosy kid interrupting them. Summer had finally disappeared for good, and the air held a chill to it. Percival was glad he had decided to bring his jacket along. While it was not cold enough to make him sick, it was cold enough to be a discomfort after a while.

Percival entered the Quidditch Pitch with the same air of someone entering a classroom. He quickly made his way towards the Slytherin Quidditch Stands. Hoping, to be set up before Opeila arrived at 6:00 pm. Well, that was if she showed up. Percival did not think she would not show up, but he had not really confirmed it with her. During breakfast, Percival had walked up to Opeila during lunch and handed her a letter. The letter held an invitation for Opeila to join him at the Quidditch Stands at 6:00 pm. It was not his most extravagant idea, but he thought the air of mystery would be good enough. Percival sat down on the wooden bench with a clear view of the slowly setting sun. The boy pulled out the candies he had saved for a special moment. Exploding Bonbons and three chocolate frogs sat innocently next to him. All that was left was to wait for Opeila to show up.

Opeila would have lied when she said that her heart didn't beat faster when she received the invitation from her boyfriend. Quite the contrary, she had quickly folded it, a silly smile on her face, blushing and looking after him like the little schoolgirl she was. She was actually going on a date this evening. What had Percival planned? Opeila didn't doubt that it would be amazing.

But once more there was the clothes problem that she already had on their first meeting. That had been rather awkward, Percival all dressed up, while she had not bothered at all and met him in her schooluniform instead. Probably that was what he had in mind as well when writing that line. Not that Opeila would have repeated that mistake anyway, but... what was he expecting? A dress or so? For that it was just to cold, it was after all mid September.

Opeila ended up deciding for a jeans, a white tshirt and a white wool jacket on top. That had to do, everything else would just be too cold. For the blanket he asked for, she took one out of the common room. Opeila didn't own one, other than the one on her bed, which she really didn't want to take outside.

Other than the blanket she decided to bring some candy with her.
Around two minutes after 6pm, Opeila showed up in the Quidditch stands, looking for Percival. It didn't take her too long to find him, sitting on one of the benches with some candy next to him. Smiling she walked up to him. "Hi.", she said, suddenly feeling a lot shyer than normal.
"Thank you for inviting me.", she added before sitting down next to him.

The sky was already starting to turn orange and the air was getting colder. As long as the cold brought snow with it, Opeila didn't mind.

Percival was mildly worried as he looked towards the slowly setting sun. Inwardly, the boy wished he had confirmed that Opeila was down for skipping part of dinner. Percival doubted that the girl would stand him up without saying anything. They were girlfriend and boyfriend now. Not two people who have mild crushes on one another. The wind was slightly chilly and he dragged the blankets closer to himself in an attempt to dissuade the cold. The boy wished he had actually brought his coat with him. While the sweater provided warmth, the thought of more warmth remanded welcoming.

The world exploded into a hue of orange and pinks. With a small smile, he lifted his hand towards the dying light. Noting the way the shadows played on his hands. Percival brought his hand back to his side as he realized that Opeila had finally arrived. The boy could not help but notice how pretty Opeila looked. Unbeknownst to him, a blush spread across his face. "Hey. You look nice." he greeted rather simply his words evading him.

Percival nodded towards Opeila as she thanked him. A small smile on his face as he grabbed one of the chocolate frogs. "You're welcome thanks for coming." he said giving the other a smile. Percival didn't really know how he was supposed to act on this informal date. He hadn't said it was a date, but it felt like a date. At least to himself.

The boy opened the package only to gap in surprise as his chocolate frogs ripped itself out of his box. Percival quickly tried to grab the frog, but he was too slow. The chocolate frog jumped away from the pair before falling over the railing and down towards the muddy earth. Percival stood up quickly from his seat to try and see where it had gone. Though he still ended up losing sight of the frog quite quickly. A frown pulled at his lips as he lamented his lost treat."Damn." he muttered before sitting back down next to Opeila.

Percival looked towards Opeila giving her a small smile. "Oops well I better have you open the next one or we won't get anything." he joked. Percival grabbed the second chocolate frog. Handing it over to Opeila. The same earlier disconnect on how to proceed came back to the forefront of his mind. Percival glanced at the setting sun for a few seconds before looking back towards Opeila. "How have you been?" he asked.

Was Percival blushing? Could be the reflection of the orange sky, but... Well, what did it matter.
A smile spread over the second year's face, when he complimented her outfit. Opeila could still remember their last, rather embarassing date, where Percival dressed up, while she showed up in her normal Hogwarts uniform. It had still been a nice evening but with a bit of an uncomfortable touch.

He thanked Opeila for coming, but she just shook her head. "This is a nice idea. Romantic." Honestly, Opeila had no idea what that word actually meant. She just knew that couples used it to describe the atmosphere of well... couple situations?
The Slytherin watched her boyfriend open a chocolate frog. "Oh- careful-" Percival tried to grab it, so did Opeila, but both the children missed. "...Too bad." Opeila watched the frog escape.

Percival said that Opeila should better open the next frog, before it escaped as well. "Fine", she said and picked it up, holding it between them. "When I open, you grab the frog, before it gets away. Ready?"

When he asked her how she had been, Opeila hesitated. The young girl was very tempted to just trust her boyfriend. Only this time open her past to someone. Could she trust Percival?
"I've been better.", she answered honestly. "Er... I was adopted last summer. My family was forced to send me away to another. And um... My stepmother doesn't like me. And I don't like her either. So it's difficult."

It felt good to say it out loud. Elora Winter had shown no compassion, no sympathy for Opeila from the moment she landed in front of them, ripped away from her father mere moments ago. Opeila didn't want to go back to Finland. It was not where she belonged. "... How about you?"

Percival could not help the grin that spread across his face at hearing her compliment. It was nice knowing that she thought a simple idea was romantic. He had put some thought into the date idea. Wanting it to be nothing too crazy, but something that would still be considered romantic. The slowly setting sunlight everything up with gold, and he could not lie and say it didn’t make Opeila look rather pretty. Her green eyes seemed to burst with color, and her hair’s natural highlights were able to be seen rather clearly. Nothing could ruin this moment, except, the embarrassment of letting the frog escape. Which left a blush that tinted his cheeks and ears. The boy nodded giving Opeila a determined look. Percival was dead set on not letting this chocolate frog fall to its uneditable doom. Besides, he was not too sure he would be able to live it down if he dropped yet another chocolate frog. “Alright I’m ready” he said in a serious tone to convey his readiness better.

The boy relaxed his serious posture, glancing away from the chocolate frog box to look up at her. Percival’s brows furrowed together as he listened to her speak. In all honesty, the boy had not expected to hear that Opeila was doing anything less than good. She had always seemed rather happy, and it was strange hearing any different. Though, he guessed that could mean she was used to hiding how she felt. Percival frowned as he thought about what to say. “It isn’t too difficult?” he asked in a quieter voice. Percival was quite versed in family members being exceptionally difficult to other family members they don’t like. A part of him hated the thought that Opeila could be going through something like that. Percival bit the inside of his cheek as he thought about his own life. A younger Percival would have told her everything that was going on that upset him. Though, the incident at the lake was still fresh in his mind. It made him pause and think about what to say. After a few seconds, the boy decided to just give a small overview. “I’ve been good. My family hosted a ball last summer for my younger cousin. It was his first birthday.” he said with a small smile. “Hanako came which was nice. I didn’t expect him to actually come.” he added on as an afterthought.

Opeila nodded, when Percival told her that he was ready. "Alright then. One, two... three!" The second year opened the box, not completely, but only a gap, so the frog didn't really have a chance to jump anywhere, except into Percival's hands. "Yes!" Opeila grinned and opened the box completely, to get out the card. "Wendelin the Weird.", she read out. "I know her! Professor Zahid told us about her in history, remember? That crazy woman, who let the muggles burn herself like fifty times..."

Opeila watched her boyfriend's face after she told him what happened to her. She couldn't quite guess what he was thinking, but he definitely looked surprised. Why wouldn't he be- Opeila had made sure to always make a happy impression around him. This was the first time she took a brick out of the wall and let him have a glimpse through it. His question, if it wasn't too difficult, caused a slightly sad smile to appear on the Slytherin's face. "And if it is? I have to live with my situation the way it is, so I can't afford thoughts like that. If I start to believe that it is too difficult, I will start to give up on trying to be happy anyway. So... No. It is not too difficult.", she responded, forcing the sadness out of her face. Opeila was currently at peace with her situation. Fine, here in Hogwarts she was rather far away from it, but still... As long as she felt like she could live with it, she would make the best out of it.

The smile turned real, when Percival told her about his far more pleasant sounding holidays and the ball for his one year old cousin. "Actually... I think we might see each other at ball in the future." After all the Winter family was finnish royalty, right? So why wouldn't they get invited to balls? And Opeila as their ward would come with them.
Opeila's mood dropped a little when she heard Hanako's name. To her, that boy was nothing but bad news. "I... Actually I wanted to talk to you about him.", she started.

Now how would she approach this topic? It was not like she wanted to turn Percival against his best friend, but she couldn't go on like this either. "I think- Actually I am pretty certain that he doesn't like me." She turned the box in her fingers, a little nervous. "When you are not listening, he keeps terrorizing me. Like... telling me to break up because this will never work. And you were there when he splashed water on me on the great stairs." The memory still angered her. That boy needed to get it together, really. "Could you talk to him or something?", she asked Percival.

Percival quickly grabbed the chocolate frog as it jumped into his hands. "Got it!" he said grinning at his success. The frog continued to try and escape the confines of his interlaced fingers. A sick giddy feeling overwhelmed him as he felt the frog hit his fingers as it tried to jump about. He wondered if the creature was starting to realize struggle was futile. The boy brought the frog up and took a large bite out of its face. The frog stopped moving about after that. Percival happily chewed his bite of chocolate as he listened to her speak.

"I remember reading about her. She was quite crazed wasn't she?" he huffed out a laugh. The boy had trouble understanding why someone would stick around to be burned. Especially, after they had already been burned more than five times. Percival shook his head in confusion before taking another bite of his chocolate frog. For all the struggle, the treat was rather good.

Percival frowned nodding in understanding. There wasn't much she or he could do in this situation. Even if it was bad, he still wouldn't be able to help her. The boy frowned at her but nodded slowly. "Alright.." he said not pressing further on the issue. He wasn't too sure he could provide the right comfort to his girlfriend. He could provide physical comfort, but how much good would it do?

The boy froze at her words. Confusion flitted about his expression as he debated on why the gil would want to talk about Hanako. The two had seemed like they had gotten along quite well at Opeila's party. He wondered what had changed. Percival listened to Opeila talk but had trouble truly comprehending what she was saying. The way she described Hanako didn't sound like the Hanako he knew and was friends with. Apart from him wanted to say that the other was most likely joking. He opened his mouth to say just that, but instead, something else came out.

"I...do you want to go to the Fall Ball together?!" he blurted out his face turning red.

"Yes!", Opeila cheered when Percial managed to get a hold of the frog before it could escape. Honestly, sometimes those frogs were an amazing waste of money. Opeila could not recall how often one of those little... things got away. They weren't even creatures really, right? They behaved as if they were alive, they tried to flee and prevent to be eaten, which actually made it really hard for Opeila to eat them in the end- Oh god.

The triumphant grin that had been on the young Slytherin's face only a second ago turned into a horrified look when Percival... bit the frog's head off. As if it had actually been killed, the frog's movement stopped. "Oh... y-yes, she was. Do you want the card?", Opeila responded to his question, a few seconds late. The frog had distracted her. "H- How can you just eat them?", Opeila asked, truly puzzled. "They behave so... so alive, you know?"

Opeila was not quite sure what she had expected after telling Percival parts of the messed up story of her family, but this didn't surprise her. He stood as helpless when it came to helping her out of it as she did to help herself out of it. She wasn't disappointed. How would he be able to help her if she couldn't even put all the pieces together herself yet?

What did surprise her though, was his reaction when Opeila started to tell him about Hanako. The other Slytherin had bothered her for a while and she could not think of a way to solve it other than taking it to her boyfriend. She had almost been certain that he would help her find a solution for that problem today, that he would listen to her and at least consider her situation. But none of it happened. Instead he asked her to go to the ball with her.

Opeila stared at him, confused for a moment. Ball? What ball? She had mentioned that they would probably see each other at balls in the future, but she was not sure at all when or if...
The Slytherin needed a moment to understand what he was talking about. The fall ball. The school ball. Another ball to go down in violent flames probably. "I- er... Yes. Yes, sure. It will be great!" She sent him a smile, her tone showing nothing of the disappointment she truly felt.

Was it silly that she felt left alone with the trouble his best friend was causing in her life? Was it silly to expect from him to help her to solve it? But after he ignored the topic so... so violently almost, she didn't dare to bring it up again. It seemed that this heavy stone would stay on her chest.

Percival frowned as he looked up to see a surprisingly horrified look cross her facial features. He wondered what he had done wrong to make her to change moods. The boy glanced down at the unmoving frog in his hands. "You know they aren't really alive, right? It's just a bit of magic. Nothing more." he asked a smile crossing his lips. The thought that she actually cared about a piece of chocolate was somewhat amusing within itself.

Percival made a show of showing Opeila the inside of the hollowed out frog. "See, no blood or guts." he huffed out in a amusement. The boy eagerly grabbed the card flipping it over to see Wendelin the Weird. "Darn I already have her. Do you want the card?" He would ask Opeila.

The boy's eyes widened slightly as Opeila agreed to his sudden invitation to go with him to the ball. In truth, he hadn't been too sure she would have said yes. Seeing how sudden it had been, but he was glad to see she accepted his sudden divergence in topic. "Of course it will be fun. There's nothing that could go wrong." he said with little clue just how wrong he would actually be.

Opeila slightly rolled her eyes when Percival asked her if she knew that they were not alive, but still with a little smile on her face. They both had been living in the magical world for at least one year, what kind of question was that? "Well, yes, of course I know that they are not alive, but they behave as if they were! It's just creeping me out a bit, you know?", she defended herself.

"Stop making fun of me!", the Slytherin said chuckling and playfully shoved against his shoulder when he showed her the hollow frog without blood or guts, as he emphasized. Opeila shook her head, grinning and looked up at the beautifully colourful sky again, letting her boyfriend continue to chew off the poor dead chocolate frog's limbs. Her gaze tried to find a line between the orange and pink parts but they just seemed to melt together.
"Hm?"

She looked at him again when he asked her if she wanted the card as he already had her. "No thanks, I have her too. Maybe give it to a friend?" Actually no, if that means that Tone gets it, give it to me, I'll find a place for it.

The timing of his invitation had put her off a bit she had to admit. He had cut her off just like that, not even said a word regarding what she had just told him was bothering her, instead he just changed the topic. Anyway, there was no way that she would not accept his invitation. Maybe this year's balls would be better than the ones from last year! Without huge insects.

So the second year swallowed what she had wanted to say about Hanako and decided to just enjoy the rest of the evening, until the sun was down. "It's curfew soon.", she would remind Percival and start to pack things together.

Wherever they parted, if it was the Quidditch stands already or the common room later on, she would hesitate for a moment. Her face would be red although she hadn't said anything, not to mention anything embarassing and then she would stand on her toes and gently kiss his cheek. "Thank you for this evening."
Opeila is leaving the Thread.
