Exploring Encounter
Rose had never been to the Trophy Room before. What makes this so surprising is that a great majority of Rose’s first year was spent exploring the vast halls of Hogwarts Castle. She had gotten into every room she had been allowed to. And I say allowed to because, at the time, she was a very rule-abiding student. The Trophy Room was an area she was allowed into, and yet, she still hadn’t explored it. Rose entered the room, finding freshly cleaned trophies shining back at her, winking in their metallic sheen. They all looked very fancy. And she looked at all the names on there- of varying lengths and backgrounds, and of very different reasons. The dates on some of them labeled that they were ancient- it made her feel very young. Rose could only imagine how they felt, getting a trophy on display in the Trophy Room of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry- it sounded nothing short of absolutely wonderful.
Rose imagined her name on one of those trophies. Maybe she would get one for “Services to the School” or maybe one for “Surviving Hogwarts for Seven Years.” That would be amazing to gaze upon- to be remembered here for centuries. For someone her age to come here ten years later and see her name. She could imagine herself telling the story to her grandchildren, saying, “If you’re ever in the Trophy Room, look for my name…”
It was a very pleasant thing to think about. She wandered throughout them, lost in thought. She hadn’t noticed there was another student in there. “Oh- uh, hi. What bring you here?” she asked.

Exploring Encounter
Aspen quickly spun around to face the sound she had heard, she was panicky after being in a new environment from her home, she stared at the person who made the sound not daring to make a peep in fear of what they may do. After a while of awkward staring aspen manage to stammer out some words after she had calmed herself a bit, “h..hi sorry if I disturbed you ” she said with a shaky voice. She clutched on to her plush cat close to her chest. she looked to the ground not wanting to make eye contact, her long raven black hair covering her eyes, ”To answer your question I am here because I got really scared and panicked…I am not good with lots of sounds or new places” she whispered not use to be spoken to. She looked at the trophies and sighs, “well I am Aspen….you are..?” she spoke with more confidence than normal as she also looked up to see the red-haired girl. Aspens panic calmed a bit as she had distracted herself with talking her tight hole on her plush cat loosed a small amount still holding it to her.

Exploring Encounter
The girl froze. Maybe in fear? Rose really wasn’t that scary, was she? Wow, now she was going around terrifying first years- she was such a good person. Rose still had a gentle demeanor, kindly waiting for the girl’s response. Hopefully it would come sooner than later. She finally managed to push out some verbal words, apologizing. Ah. Rose had been like this once. Scared of messing things up and scared of people who could do horrible things to her. Frankly, if Rose really wanted to, she could hex the little girl right now. But she really did not want to- that was kind of evil. Rose still was like that sometimes- on the bad days, at least.
The sheet of dark hair covered the girl’s face, making her look very shy and submissive. Rose’s voice was soothing as she said, “Oh, you’re not disturbing me- don’t- don’t worry ‘bout that.” Rose listened as she supplied the answer for her presence in the trophy room. “I get that- I was exactly like that my first year at Hogwarts,” she reassured the younger girl, who was hugging a stuffed cat to her chest. “It gets better with time, don’t worry.” The girl looked up at Rose for the first time (so maybe she wasn’t that scary after all?) and introduced herself. Aspen. Wasn’t aspen a kind of tree? “That’s a pretty name. I don’t even know you that well, but I think it’s very fitting. I’m Rose. It’s nice to meet you.”
Awkward silence followed. “I like your cat.”

Exploring Encounter
Aspens moved her long black hair out of her face Aspens stood there in a form of shock not use to the soothing voice as she was used to the yells from her bullies at her old school. She seemed to calm down, the soothing voice with the compliment to Charlie her beloved cat, Aspen could tell that this girl was not going to hurt her, still not trusting her but willing to at least be in the same room as her. “thank you,” Aspen says with a bit more confidence in her once shaky voice, “I like your name swell Rose is a good name” Aspen seemed to think on her choice of word to say trying not to mess this up, her skill with a conversation was less than lesser but she would still try at making this work, Her once-tight grip on her plush loosened a bit “oh and this is Charlie,” Aspen says looking at her plush cat, she gave off a small smiled as she hugged her cat not tightly but hugged, “you seem nice… but pleas still don’t get to close to me,” aspen said as she did not want to be touched or have someone near her, she would smile at Rose trying to not seem creepy or weird.

Exploring Encounter
The girl was terrified- that much Rose could tell. Rose's anxiety had been present in her first year, but not as bad as this year and definitely not as crippling as this. It was both horrible and refreshing to see someone who had it worse than she did, as she almost never met people who had it as bad as her. Maybe that was selfish, though- she shouldn't be wishing anxiety on anybody. It may not seem like she was really worried about anything inside, as she put on a pretty good outward appearance demonstrating near-perfect manners and usually had control of her emotions, but that didn't mean that those thoughts of worry didn't go through her head, leaving a trail of even more doubts branching from it. "Thank you, that's very nice of you to say," Rose said politely in return of Aspen's compliment, simply a reflex that came on whenever someone said something good about her. She didn't believe Aspen, though. No, not for a second. Aspen then continued to introduce her cat, which Rose smiled at.
Was Rose really that scary? Because Aspen was still scared of her- relaxed only the slightest bit, but she asked Rose not to come closer. "O-okay. I won't, don't worry." Rose wanted to say something else to support the girl, but she didn't want to directly repeat herself from earlier, so she cocked her head at Aspen, asking, "Are you okay? I know Hogwarts can be scary, but it can be fun, too. Are you a muggle-born?" That was probably insensitive, but she said it very gently and understandingly, so maybe that would make up for it? Hopefully it would do for now.
