Late, LATE, reading
Dreams mean many things. Duh. That's why Paige was reading this book. It was night time, and it was nearing curfew. Paige didn't want to sleep, fear of the dreams that keep coming back. She finally caught up on her homework, and now was researching dreams. She didn't want to ask the Astronomy professor, she gets a nervous feeling every time she goes near him. She didn't want anyone judging her, or worse, feeling sorry for her. Which is why she chose to come around curfew. People were laughing in their common rooms, no one to peer over her shoulder.
She hadn't met the librarian yet, but Paige wasn't worried if the librarian would judge her. All librarians are the best. Paige knew it was a fact. Some signals in your dreams may keep repeating. Paige nodded. Her dreams were repeating, except every time the person in her dream said something different. It was so weird. It was a dream. Yet it always felt so real. Which is why she refused to sleep unless she crashed. She's even gone to sitting in the most uncomfortable chair and scariest book ever, yet she always ended failing at around 2:00 in the morning. Bags under her eyes, she flipped the page.
The candle light gave off a soft, dreary glow... Paige checked her watch she brought from England. Couple more minutes in till curfew. She would use as much as she can of it. She didn't want to risk bringing it back, and making people suspicious. The words on the page began to blur, as Paige's head slowly lowered to the book and sleep took over.

It was almost time. Students were supposed to be in their assigned common rooms by now. It was the time that Prefects had to double check places that no students were left behind or idled in one place for too long.
Nico was doing her rounds as usual. Her slytherin robes draped over her slender form. She was tired. When was she not tired. Dinner was alot. The Prefect couldn't remember when it was the last time she ate that much. Was it stress? Or was her stomach actually not acting up for once?
Her black mary janes gently tapped on the cold stone floor before she stopped by the Library door. Her ice blue hues blinked before her hands gently pushed against the wooden entrance. With a soft, deep groaning creak it moved out of her way. Her pale complexion glowed abit with the moonlight dropping in from one of the high placed windows. 'It's getting late...' She muttered. Her strawberry red hair rest on her shoulders as she walked between the tall standing bookcases. Row by row, she checked if anyone was left.
Nico didn't see the Librarian around. Maybe she was out to fetch something or maybe she already left. She sighed and almost made her way out before noticing someone laying on a desk. 'Ah... Of course. There's always one...' Nico muttered once more as she approached the nearly sleeping student.
'Miss. It's right about curfew. You were supposed to be in your Common room moments ago.' She folded her arms, her ice blue glare looking down at the Ravenclaw. 'Explain yourself.'

Paige lifted her head up when she heard a voice. She looked up a saw someone who must be a prefect. Paige blinked under the ice-cold stare. "Explain myself... um." Paige started gathering the books, covers face down. The prefect didn't have to know she was having nightmares. "Just some nightly reading... I can't get in trouble for reading, can I?" Paige raised her eyebrows. That wouldn't be fair. "And if I'm only a few moments late, than it's not that bad."
Paige had never had to explain herself to a prefect. She felt a bit nervous. She yawned. Her arm with the cast was quite itchy. Paige didn't want to get in trouble. But she was tired, stressed and annoyed. She sighed and than grabbed her bag. "This is the part where you tell me to get to bed or whatever, and then be careful with my time, I assume?" Paige once again raised her eyebrows. She gathered the books with the arm with no cast and tried to put them back without this prefect seeing the titles. Seriously, this girl had no need to know Paige was having nightmares. That would mean questions.

Ah. Someone with a sharp tongue. The best kind of student. Nico watched her rather unimpressed, arms still folded, slightly sighing. 'Reading is fine. Nightly reading is for your dormroom. You also seem tired.' Nico was sure she didn't have to point out that the girl was nearly drooling on the desk as she was passed out.
Even though this girl wasn't a Slytherin, Nico felt just as responsible. She wasn't sure if it was because the girl was just as tired as her, or maybe she felt slightly worried about the way she stayed here alone.
Something that she could relate to.
'If you don't idle for too long, I'll let it slide. If necesarry, I'll escort you to your common room.' The dhampir wasn't taking any chances. If the girl was this tired, she'd keep an eye on her that she didn't pass out on the way to her sleeping quarters. Not to mention that one of her arms was covered in plaster.
Yet, in the next moment, Nico didn't like the look she got from the Ravenclaw. Squinting her iceblue hues, From her frame a dark aura, not seen by the naked eye, beamed onto the Ravenclaw. It was ice cold and let a chill run down one's spine. One would feel cornered and uneasy. Intimidated at best.
'Look. It's not my fault that you decided to take a powernap in the library right about curfew. If you know what's good for you, I'd keep a closer look on the clock next time.' Subcounsiously, Nico leaned slightly over the girl as she spoke. Her words were soft spoken yet sharp.
'Why did you decide to nap here anyway. I'd like to know that before you decide to scurry away.' The aura stayed and Nico raised her eyebrows in the same manner the Ravenclaw did earlier. Her iceblue eyes piercing into theirs.'Tell me so I can atleast understand.'

Paige stopped as the girl requested to know what was go in on. Paige was tired. She was stressed because she knew she wouldn't be sleeping. "It's not really your business, okay?!" Paige shoved the last book into the shelf, knocking over other books in the process. She let out a loud 'UGH' before shoving then back on the shelf. She was so, so tired. What will she do today to stay up? She will sit in the most uncomfortable chair she could find, wearing shorts and tank top that was not comfortable, and make herself cold. She will even read the scariest story she could find and keep herself up. The fact that she was planning how to keep herself up-
She turned to the prefect, realizing she was being most rude. "Sorry." She would mumble with a slight shrug. Angry tears filled up. "I'm just having a hard time, okay?! And now I'm in trouble. Okay. This is too stressful. I was taken home for a week, than I had a night made and broke my arm. Now the nightmare keeps repeating, except each time the dialogue is different!! And this could mean something! BUT I DONT WANT THIS NigHTMARE TO MEAN anything.
Okay?!" Paige clamped her hand over her mouth.

Nico blinked slowely, watching the girl throw some sort of tantrum. 'I'm pretty sure the librarian wouldn't like to see you treating her books that way...' The Prefect mentioned in a rather matter-of-fact way. However, Paiges bodylanguage didn't go unnoticed. You couldn't look past it. There was something up and Nico wasn't sure if she had the patience to deal with it this evening. Well... night.
The girl noticed how her behaviour was rather ruthless and out-there, briefly apologising. Atleast she knew that she was having a hard time and being unreasonably agitated. The look in her eyes was clear to the dhampir. There was something she needed to get off her chest. Whichever that was...
An avalange of words flowed down the first years mouth. Nico didn't even flinch. All she did was look at the student. The tears, the anger and even the fear. It was nothing new to the prefect. She too had these moments of total loss of control and fear. She too had nightmares that have only recently started to settle down. They were still there, she didn't sleep great, maybe a few hours or so... But it had gotten a little better.
Her iceblue eyes closed for a moment as she sighed. Letting the words of Paige sink in for a bit. A silence falling over the dusty shelves. Her paperwhite finger raised up to her just as pale nose, her nail gently scratching the bridge. After what seemed forever, Nico had given the Ravenclaw some space to let her emotions settle down.
'I hear you. I do.' Her right hand carefully flicked back her strawberry red hair over her shoulder before looking the child in the face again. 'I understand that nightmares keep you up. I know that... fear is something that is hard to let go of.' Even as she stood there, Nico felt uncomfortable. She had hoped to wrap this up quick and swift. But this girl was ... in need of some comforting words. 'But the less you sleep, the worse they will get. The sooner you get in your bed, the better it will be for you. I'll escort you to your Common room. Okey?' The dhampir didn't want to soften up to this girl. Even if she was having a hard time, it wasn't especially safe to be out at this hour. The curfew was changed for a reason. A reason this girl probably didn't know of. 'Let's go.'
Turning off her Unsettling Aura, Nico took a step back, stretching out her arm, her hand gesturing at the door. Her ice cold eyes fixated on the first year, waiting for her to go first.
