Portraits and Prefects
Marcus walked into the Small Hall with the sole intention of going straight through to dinner in the Great Hall. He was pretty hungry this evening, having roamed the grounds for most of the day. However, as he made his way through the hall, something caught his attention out the corner of his eye. He stepped to the side so as not to impede foot traffic, and he turned his full attention to the wall of portraits. There was a particularly ornate frame on the wall that had fallen from one end, resulting in a very crooked frame. The portrait itself was empty at the moment, meaning its normal occupant probably had been unhappy with the development of the crooked frame or had not been back yet to notice it.6 November 2020, before dinner
Marcus tsked under his breath, and reached up to correct the positioning of the frame. After he fixed it, he took a step back to determine if it was as straight as the surrounding portraits. Thus ensued the frustration of adjusting it slightly to the left and then to the right and then much too far left. His patience was wearing thin. Was his eyesight crooked?
Marcus turned to face the rest of the small hall, which students were passing through to access the Great Hall. One of them stood out because of the glint of a Prefect's badge. He himself would be easily recognized as the Head of Ravenclaw, despite having stepped up his dress game since his time as caretaker. Today he was in his normally dark wardrobe, meaning a black dress shirt buttoned all the way up and a pair of black dress pants.
"You there, Ms Prefect," he gestured to the redhead girl wearing Slytherin robes. "Come here for a moment," he requested, his amber eyes staying glued on her so she did not think he was talking about some other nonexistent prefect in the area. Assuming she obliged and would come closer, he would finally tear his eyes away from her as he gestured to the picture frame that he was trying to correct. "Does this look straight to you?" he asked of her, his arms crossing as he looked up at the portrait.
Marcus' Intimidation is in effect. It is a sentiment that enters people's hearts when they are in your presence. They feel dis-ease when you are present, even if the interaction is casual or even friendly.

Portraits and Prefects
@Marcus Iwasaki
Face in neutral, her mind thinking about dinner. The dhampir had a struggle with the stairs of the Slytherin quarters today as her energy was all over the place. Not in a positive way, but in a negative way. Finally, she started to sleep better. A few hours. It's better than only one. The only downside still, were the nightmares. They usually started nice and fun. Nothing too strange than any other dream. But as soon as she felt comfortable to let herself go, the dreams twisted and turned, catching her off guard left and right. In short: she slept but felt restless afterwards.
Covering her mouth, she yawned in the palm of her hand as her hair swayed with every step she took. Neatly dressed and smelling good, Nico felt that atleast her looks and hygiene weren't suffering. It was small comfort but a big deal. From experience she knew that hygiene was important. One day, her father had decided to go for a swim in the sea, when they were on a trip to the beach. Classic dad. Just out there doing his thing. This was ofcourse at sundown. Sunlight and dhampirs didn't go well together and because of that, dips in the sea by night weren't very strange to Nico. What did stick with her, were the moments her dad didn't take a shower afterwards until the day after. He liked the salt on his skin. Her mother had often tried to persuade him, and yes, it never worked. He was stubborn.
Smelly.
Since then, she had sworn to herself that scrubbing the sleep and tears away, would make her feel better; Even for a little bit. And it did...
Here she was, ready to walk into the Great Hall until she noticed a tall figure in the corner of her eye. He wasn't super tall like some of the Professors or... the Half-Giant boys. But he was taller than an average student. Was he looking at a pai-
He called out to her. Was he really talking to he-
He was. There was something about the way he looked at her that made her fully aware, that she was who he was looking for. That specific Prefect. Softly swallowing, the child approached him. Sensing some sort of tension, she recognised the man. She had never seen him in person, but the Ravenclaw Prefects did mention a new Head of Ravenclaw. That he was... intimidating. Kind of cold.
'Y-Yes, sir?' What are you doing? You're not in the army. Relax. 'I-I mean, Professor. I-... I mean. E-ehm. Mister Iwasaki.' That was... the name, right? For whatever reason, which was definitely not the history of bad experience with Professors she's had, Nico felt as if she was being tested. Again.
He asked a simple question that someone with a.... gift for art wouldn't find very challenging. The frame. Glad to no longer feel obliged to make eye-contact with Iwasaki, for now, her gaze dropped to the painting. 'It... The left should be a little lower. I think...' Cautiously, Nico glanced up to get a read of his face. Was this good? Bad? Or was she making a fuss about... nothing?

Portraits and Prefects
The girl seemed nervous as she approached, which was a reaction that Marcus was beyond used to. He had lived like this for years - strangers subconsciously avoiding him on public transport or flinching when he walked too closely to them. It was hardly something he noticed these days. It would be more noticeable if someone didn't react to his presence in such a manner. He momentarily thought of Professor Pendrast who had stood out for that reason, but he quickly shifted focus as the Prefect spoke.
"Lower, you say?" Marcus' attention was now back on the portrait as he took a step back and tried to see what the redhead saw. Ah, she was right. He stepped closer to the frame and did as she had suggested, lowering the left ever-so-slightly. Another step back to observe, and a nod at the fact that it seemed perfectly straight now.
"Excellent," he declared, now lowering his amber eyes back to the student beside him. She had turned out to be useful after all, which is more than he could say about several other students in this school. The troublemakers and the disrespectful ones are still the ones that stood out most to the former caretaker, although he was slowly seeing that some members of his own house were somewhat pleasant. "You may g-" Marcus had been about to dismiss the girl, but from up close he noticed something odd about her. His eyes narrowed slightly as he made note of her skin.
"You're very pale," the man ended up saying, rather direct and to the point. "Are you feeling unwell? Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?" Marcus asked, frowning slightly. She was not acting sick, but then again he had only seen her for the past minute or so. He had seen ill people devoid of color before, and that's what this Prefect reminded him of. It was the only natural conclusion he could think of in that moment.
