Tap…tap...tap...tap..tap..tap..taptaptaptaptaptaptaptap. His index finger drumming against the wooden table was apart of a wonderful cacophony of noise in the utterly too silent Library. His boredom death throes were always noisy and intrusive, which is very much in line with the rest of his personality. The earthy and musty smell of books always gave the Hufflepuff Prefect headaches, but apparently, headaches were not a reason to avoid books like the plague. The yellow and black robe was flung carelessly over the back of the chair, with an unflatteringly large book sat infront of him. It held a dull brown leather binding and sickly yellowing pages. It was utterly disgusting to mister Warren.
The boy was dressed in a casual short-sleeve button-up shirt with sunflowers, and a casual pair of jeans. He had always made a point to change out of his school clothes after classes. A sigh escaped his lips as Jack flopped back in the uncomfortable chair. His arms dangled limply, thus stopping the insesent drumming of his fingers “Guhhhhhhhh, whyyyyyy doooo booooksss exissstttt” each word were stretched to their limits as they flew from his lips. Everything in this damn room was so dreary. It’s like a place that dreams come to wither and die. Nothing but old tomes with history that nobody cared about. You were never remembered for writing a book. You were remembered for taking action, not learning. Even in a magic world, people placed so much weight on being smart. Heroes and adventurers only needed guts and instinct. Those two things, Jack has in spades.
With a loud ‘thump’, the book was slammed closed. “Tha’ is it! I’m done with this book! I hate it, and hope it will burn in a fire!” The boy had little care in the world about who heard his calls of injustice in the world of academia. The books will never get JACK WARREN DOWN! The screeching sound of the heavy wooden chair legs on the hard floors echoed out against the empty open room. The converse on Jack’s feet tapped as he pushed the chair back and he stood. Glaring at the book, he honestly had half the mind to take out his wand and incendio the crap out of the book titled "Zenith of Mars."

When did potions get so difficult?

Bloom was trying to digest information regarding mind-altering potions. There were two different kinds that were taught in her potions class and Bloom had decided that she should review them right away. It was, drastically, very unlike her to go straight to the library and study after a class, before her next one. However, Bloom knew that she was terribly behind in her studies. The thought of studying sickened her, but she had to push through. I'll reward myself with a chocolate frog, she proudly told herself.

Sitting in the library, she stared at the page taught from her class. She tried to remember the difference between the two potions described but she could not focus. The library, meant to be extremely silent, was not. She was sitting nearby another student with a sunflower shirt who was tapping on his table. Bloom nuzzled her head deeper into her book, thinking the closer she was to the page, the better her focus would be. She was wrong.

She couldn't help but to glare over at him when he began to groan to himself about studying. She knew exactly how he felt, but she was actually trying. Hearing him complain about the books and studying made her want to close her book. Maybe he'll shut up... Like now...? She thought to herself, hoping it would be the case. She wanted to reward herself with a chocolate frog.

Bloom took out the pony tail from her dark brown hair and redid her up-do into a bun. Everything was combed back except for her side bangs that wisped over forehead and eyes. This time was real. She looked back at the book and stared at the drawing of the two potions. She was going to get this. As she read both descriptions, she jumped with a slam of a book. It was coming from the same student.

“Tha’ is it! I’m done with this book! I hate it, and hope it will burn in a fire!”

Angry, Bloom slammed her book closed and walked over to the student who seemed younger than her. "DO YOU MIND? I'm trying to study and you're being very persuasive!" she said as a loud whisper. She meant what she said. He was persuasive. His slam of the book caused her to slam the book. Now does she want to go back and open it? Most likely not.

"What subject are you forcing yourself to study?" she asked, wondering if she would remember the subject or topic herself or not.

Most of the time, Jack's outbursts only garnered looks of annoyance and loathing. He was a rambunctious one, and he wasn't really afraid to show off his prowess in noise making. He worked rather hard to develop certain skills in being the center of attention. Not that he would ever admit it, but he enjoyed getting on people's nerves. It made him feel like he was doing something right, which in this instance was completely wrong. All the other students here wanted to do was relax and study, but that was too boring for Jack. There had to be something! A call to action! The rush of adrenaline! Hell, even a heated exchange of words would liven up the place.

So it seemed that the young prefect would get exactly what he wished for, but sadly there was no call to battle or anything of the sort. The sound of a secondary slammed book made the boy glance away from the object of his ire. Much to his surprise but supreme delight, he watched an older girl march her away towards his little section of the table. The spark of a devilish smirk appeared on his face. Finally! Something to distract him from that damned book, may it burn in hell.

"I don' mind at all." Not a very satisfying reply, but it only made his smirk turn into a shit-eating grin. Persuasive? Never heard that one before...Jack liked it. It was probably one of the kinder things people had said to him during a confrontation. His response lacked any effort to mute or muffle his voice, "Oh, C'mon. It doesn' even look like you're trying to study. If you were, you wouldn' be over here talkin' to me!" To emphasize his point, he wildly whipped his arm out in the direction that she had just come. Not too sound of an argument, but Jack figured that if he said it with enough conviction it wouldn't be challenged.

Another question was posed. One less pointed, and it seemed like genuine curiosity rather than a pointed investigative question. "Astronomy." He responded to Bloom's query, coldly, as if the word itself gave him a bad taste in his mouth. "Something about how to see Mars in the sky at night. But to be honest, I don' really give a damn about space and the like. It's just empty. And boring. But what about you? What studying have I saved you from?"

He was absolutely right. She wasn't even trying hard enough to study. But was she going to give in like that and tell him that he was right? Absolutely not. Bloom crossed her arms tightly and looked at the Hufflepuff. She saw on his clothing was the Prefect pin. It was interesting enough that he was breaking the library rules and yet enforcing rules.

Seeing his outstretched arm point to where she was sitting, Bloom looked over and rolled her eyes looking back at the boy. Seeing his grin, she wondered if he was just having pure pleasure bothing those around him. How did he become Prefect anyway? She remembered the time when she was a Prefect. It was a lot of work and often made her tired. It was one of the reasons why she had to drop. She loved the busy work of being a Prefect, but it knocked her out of her studies. She wasn't keeping up with her classes. Unfortunately though, even not being a Prefect, she had a hard time keeping up with her classes.

"Yeah... I don't even know what you're talking about in that lesson and I was most likely taught that years ago," she said, trying to think when it was she learned that. Was it her first year? Second year? Gosh, it all blended together and her lack of completing homework did not help reinforce her learning either.

Bloom was over standing. She sat down across from the Hufflepuff boy and rested her elbows on the table. She leaned her head on her right hand and sighed. "Potions," she answered him. "It's so stupid. Like why do we have to memorize all of this? Literally, I went to the Healer's for my sister, and my parents explained to them what was going on and you know what the Healer did? SEARCHED IT. He didn't know it at the top of his head. So why do we?" Yup. Bloom ranted. It was crazy how much Hogwarts professors were putting on them for no reason. This was their time to live free before everything was confined in "adulting."

"Sorry. Studying has been difficult for me since the start and I just don't find an importance in studying like my house mates. It shouldn't be an obsession," she added.

It was best to change the subject before she sounded like she was complaining about the concept of "school" to the Prefect before her. Bloom looked at his badge once more and gave him a small smile. "How long have you been a Prefect?" she asked, wondering if it was still just as fun as it was back when she had the position.
