Knew I'd Find You Here
Morning of February 14, 2021.
Catching Paige Chase was impossible when she didn't want to be caught. After darting out of the Ballroom the evening before, Simon had tried to track her down only she was determined for him not to find her. She was absolutely the most stubborn girl that Simon Kincaid had ever met in his life - but he still loved her.
Knowing that most likely the following day would bring about a little calmness, Simon made his way to the one place he was pretty sure he could find her. It was his Birthday and he didn't realize that he'd be seeing her later that day for a surprise party that she had planned. All he knew was that his friend was hurting and he wanted to do anything he could to remedy that.
He headed inside the Library and walked past the librarian's desk, past some of the study tables, past some rows of books.
And just as he had suspected, there along one of the back walls was Paige, book in hand. He didn't want to startle her and he certainly didn't want her to jet off like the other night. "Hey you," he whispered, not being too loud. "I knew I'd find you here. Can we talk?"
Hopefully the answer would be yes because he came to occupy the chair beside hers.

Knew I'd Find You Here
It was Valentines Day. But it was also Simon's Birthday. The very same Simon who Paige had ran away from last night. She deeply regretted that, she might have felt better if she had talked to him. But she didn't. If you know Paige, you know that when she wants to be alone, don't follow her. She woke up. She was setting up a surprise party for him, but that would be later. Today she was wearing pink, but she wasn't feeling it. She went to the library instead of joining the others in sending love notes around the school.
She pulled out a book on wolves. She plopped down and opened it. She started reading away about wolves and how they are different from werewolves. I wish I could meet a wolf. I know they might kill me, but they are so cool. She sighed.
Than she heard Simon's soft voice. Paige sighed again and slowly turned around. "Gee, was it the part that I'm a Ravenclaw, or the part where I'm a bookworm?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm. But she hoped Simon could tell she wasn't trying to be mean. "You want to talk? Like, a friendly talk or a lecture about my stupid actions last night?"

Wanting to help @Paige Chase
“Friendly talk, I suppose...” he began but paused. They really hadn’t had a good talk in awhile and he blamed their busy schedules. Since returning from the holidays, the professors were full of ideas for assignments.
“And maybe about what happened last night but surely not stupid actions. “I saw no foolish action on your behalf. I was hoping we could have talked yesterday about why you were upset. Maybe we could talk today?”
He sighed before sliding the chair so that it faced hers a little more. He leaned forward, taking the book from her and tucking it next to her before taking one of her hands into his.
This talk should have happened the night before. He should have insisted. Friends helped friends; that’s what they did.
“Talk to me, please. What happened?” It had been an evening that should have been enjoyable. Simon hoped she was willing to talk. Open communication really was the best thing for a friendship.
Other than these two, the library was pretty quiet. The hustle and bustle that morning was in the common rooms and Great Hall as students gathered to exchange hugs and homemade cards for Valentine’s Day. There was maybe only one other there in the library with Simon and Paige.

Paige raised her eyebrow and gave and 'mhm' when Simon said what she wasn't stupid. But she appreciated it all the same. He took her book and slid it next to her. She didn't protest but suddenly took interest in her nails. I should get them painted. I don't think he's buying my whole interest in the nail act. Finally he said something. " What happened was that I've been played. Okay? Michael invited another pureblood and totally ignored me in front of everyone. Every time Michael said something or did something rude, his date seemed to like him more and more. And Michael was with him. It was totally a joke! It's because I'm a dumb muggle born, I know it!" Paige frowned. "It's because I'm a... mudblood." She spat out the word as if even she was disgusted with herself.
"And when you came after me, you left your girlfriend. I saw you kiss her. You really like her Simon. I thought Michael liked me. It was all a joke." Her voice cracked and again she looked at her nails. She hesitated. "Happy Birthday, you get moody Paige." Than she took out a cupcake and gave it to him. She wanted him to think that's all she had planned. But not under these circumstances.

Hoping to cheer up @Paige Chase
He hated that she was hurt. He wasn't upset at all with the way she was being, only that she felt this way. When she pulled out the cupcake and handed it to him, he smiled in appreciation although she knew that cupcakes weren't his thing. Still, cake on one's Birthday was a tradition so who was he to protest taking it?
"A cupcake and moody Paige," he corrected her. She had gotten him two things. "I'll still take moody Paige over no Paige any day," and he set the cupcake carefully down before leaning out of his chair, pulling her in for a hug. It was a somewhat tight embrace due to his strength, even if he hadn't intended it to be. "I'm sorry that you're hurt. I'm sorry that the night played out like that." She didn't deserve that.
He leaned back on the chair and watched her. "Hey, I don't know anything about this magical world either. Well, very little. There's nothing insulting about that, Paige." He didn't want her to call herself names or look down on herself for it. "We'll learn it. We've got time. You don't need to be foolish because you're not used to this all. I'm not either."
And the there was the other part she said. The part about his ...girlfriend. He glanced down, thinking about when Paige admitted feelings for him awhile back ago over break. A lot could change in a few weeks and he wasn't sure those feelings were still present. "She's not my girlfriend. At least, not yet."
He sighed. "...Will it make you feel better if I eat the cupcake?" Now and then he forced down something sweet to try and appease his aunt.

Paige put her hands under her chin in a a playful manner and smiled. She was feeling better already. He carried on with his little 'pep talk." Paige stopped him. "I am a fool. Besides, everyone likes you. So, you could be the most foolish person alive, and they still will like you. That's one of the things I like about you." Paige laughed when she heard Simon say Haley wasn't his girlfriend. "Yeah right. She is, you both just don't know it yet." Paige held out her hands as if to say duh. "Exactly, yet."
Paige laughed as Simon asked if she wanted him to eat the cupcake. Paige leaned forward and took the cupcake. Carefully she split it in half to reveal it was hollow inside. On the inside she had requested that there be lemon drops, non baked, of course. The house elves did their job after Paige gave them the recipe. "If you don't mind, Ill eat these." She reached for the halves and then stopped. "Actually, save them for Haley." Paige knew that Simon liked her. He was happy with her. So Paige was happy. "And... your right. Thanks." She leaned forward and returned is hug, except it was much less tight, and than backed up. "And happy Valentine's Day!"

Talking with @Paige Chase
"Oh wow," he said, rather surprised to find the lemon drops in the cupcake like that. Paige was such a thoughtful friend. "No, you go ahead," he said and smiled before popping one of the lemon drops into his mouth.
"There's plenty of people that don't like me, Paige," he said. There were plenty of others at his other school back in London that weren't fans of his. Some were boys that liked girls that liked Simon. Some were those that played Squash that didn't like that he got the title each time. There was one who wanted a part in the school play but Simon got it. It wasn't correct that everyone liked him. Even at Hogwarts he was quite sure there was a handful.
"Happy Valentine's Day to you too. Rather crazy holiday, actually," and it was now that he noticed Paige was sitting there wearing pink. Pink looked good on her but it wasn't exactly a color he saw on her very often. "I see someone is getting into the holiday spirit."
He had attempted to start making some Valentines for his friends just because it seemed to be a kind thing to do and he probably should finish them so he could actually distribute them on Valentine's Day and not days after. Maybe he would do that during lunch since he normally didn't eat anyway.
