Helpless- And I know she is
So he had finally caught on to what she was implying. Took him long enough.. Annie nodded her head when he asked, or well stated that she couldn't see. "Well it's a long story so I'll try to sum it up but I don't mind sharing.. if anything I want to talk to people about it but I am nervous about others reactions." Annie took a breath in before exhaling to collect her thoughts and how she was going to explain the event and everything that had happened that night. She closed her eyes for a brief moment before opening them. "Funnily enough it happened on Christmas Eve. This year I went home but I usually stay at the castle for the holidays."
The brunette started slowly figuring out what parts to include and what to keep out. She didn't want to bore him to death but she was so relieved to have someone listen to her and just be there. Whether he was here or not she felt like she had some sort of support now. "Okay where were we.. aha let's continue here. It was after dinner and the doorbell rung. An odd time for a visitor wouldn't you say? Turns out the person at the door was this man I had never seen." Okay maybe she did like telling stories no matter how.. weird they were she wasn't going to leave out much detail, maybe hop around a bit but lots was to be shared. "My mum came downstairs and turns out it was my grandfather who I had never met cause he abandoned my grandmother and mom when she was just a child. Sad I know. Anywho.."
Annie paused to clear her throat and recall the night, although she didn't need to images still played in her head, it was fresh and it would stay that way for awhile. "He was apologizing for something, probably leaving my mom and then he saw my father and just got angry. It was probably because my mom's line was pure Ravenclaw's for the longest time and she married a muggle. I'm not sure though he just.. exploded." She bit her lip before continuing. "I saw him bring out his wand and everything kind of went in slow motion, the only thing I knew was that I wouldn't let him hurt my dad so I jumped in front of him and pushed him out of the way. The brunette gulped, a lump forming in her throat. "All I can remember is pain. Burning pain all over my face. My mom screaming in anger at my grandfather, my dad cradling me and crying. I had never seen him cry before. After that I passed out."
Annie finished, her voice had progressively gotten quieter until it was a whisper. "But the day after was worse. I woke up and the whole world was dark. I was still in pain and terrified. I didn't get to see my presents. I didn't get to see their smiling faces greet me and I NEVER WILL EVER AGAIN!" At this point she screamed the last part, her teeth gritting together in anger as she lashed out at anyone and everyone. Her shoulders began to shake as small sobs wracked her body. "I am alone Lamik. I don't think anyone knows the pain I went through and what I am still going through. But please, please don't pity me. I just need a friend right now."
Her head hung low, if she could see she would be staring at the ground, but her vision just swam with shadows as tears dripped down her face. "I don't want to be alone."

Helpless- And I know she is
Lamik listened intently to the story, or at least as intently as he could with all the questions that kept popping up in his throughout. Some could most likely be answered by simply accounting for the differences in etiquette and lifestyle that exist, though others definitely warranted deeper discussion and thought:
If Annie had a family, which she very obviously did, why would she choose to stay at Hogwarts most years? Why was it odd to have a visitor after dinner? Why did her grandfather leave? What kind of curse causes permanent blindness, and why would that be the chosen method used in the attempt to hurt Annie's Father?
With the questions and mysteries mounting, Lamik was starting to lose track. Unfortunately, there were more important things to say and do than nitpick at every single little detail, so he just kept paying attention. On her request to not be pitted, the young boy wasn't sure what to say. He most certainly did pity her, but it wasn't like doing so was a conscious choice. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to point that out though, so he instead moved on to what she said next. Besides, he didn't know how to respond to the whole story and realized he could just... not, while at the same time still supporting someone who needed it. "Well... I guess a good way to start any friendship is to get to know each other. Tell me about yourself."

Helpless- And I know she is
Well now that my sob story is finished- She paused in her tracks when Lamik had started speaking, but not questioning her story. Her brows knit together in confusion. Sure, she was happy he wasn't asking questions because she didn't want to go into extreme detail but she did think she was going to answer at least one or two. The brunette realized she had been silent for awhile now and blinked before answering. "Ah.. sorry that caught me off guard? You want to get to know me, really?"
Annie pursed her lips. What was there to know about me? Without rambling and stating random stuff of course. She cocked her head to the side and thought for a bit before speaking again. "Well, my favorite color is green uhm cause it's nature and really pretty oh and fall is my favorite season because of the leaves changing color. I don't have a lot of close friends, to be honest I spend more time by myself or with my owl than others even though I'm a prefect or what not heh.." Ah yes tell your potential friend that you don't have a lot of other friends. Good job.
She paused again before continuing. "What else.. oh! Well I'm a half-blood right? I was home schooled when I was younger so I don't actually know as much about the muggle world as one would think." Why is this relevant? I honestly have no clue.. The girl kept talking to herself in her head, a bad habit of hers to be completely honest. "Ah yes a very important thing to note about me is that my emotions change rather quickly, but you may have figured that out already. Uhm and I want to be a magizoologist or work with Hippogryffs when I graduate."
Annie spoke the last part quietly, semi-embarrassed for her dream of what she wanted to do. It had always been the same since she was young. That was what she wanted to be when she grew up. So many other students wanted to be teachers, aurors or work for the ministry but she wanted to travel the world and work with magical creatures. Sure it was odd, but it was something she was passionate about. And now with her whole situation, could she even do it? A small frown made it's way onto her face at the idea before she broke her train of thought off.
Silence had filled the small space and she cleared her throat awkwardly. "Well now you know more about me than you probably ever want to know, but that's only a little piece of my complicated life." She paused and let out her first real laugh in a long time. "What about you? Care to share some stuff from the mysterious life of Lamik Fillestar?" A small smile replaced the frown previously on her face. The news was out and he had taken it surprisingly well, no judgement, no pity and not getting up and leaving. All was good, so far.

Helpless- And I know she is
Lamik nodded in response to Annies question. Why wouldn't he want to get to know her? Being the social boy that he was, there really didn't seem to be a downside, especially since just for a moment he had forgotten that he hated her. Was that a sign that the hatred wasn't justified? Don't be ridiculous! In any case, Lamik listened. Favorite color is green, favorite season is autumn because of colors... it was almost comical that the person who cared so much about color would be the one to go blind. Almost. One thing that she said did stand out to him more than the rest, though he decided to ask about it only after he told her about himself as she had asked.
"I'm not sure what there is to say." He started, deciding to answer the same questions that she had answered. "My favorite color is purple, though I couldn't tell you why. My favorite season is winter, though once again, I couldn't tell you why. I'm a muggle-born, so I know quite a bit about the muggle world, and when I grow up I want to make wands- something about it just seems so..." Lamik gave a small laugh. "...Magical. Though I guess that's a given." Now for his question: "You said you didn't have many friends? I can't say I expected that, given that you were on the quidditch team and that... yeah." He cut himself off before he could bring up the cause of all his troubles with her.

Helpless- And I know she is
Annie hummed as he started speaking. Mainly he replied back to the questions she answered. His favorite color was purple and season was winter. Not bad choices but there was no reasoning behind them which she found odd. She simply shrugged it off, not like she would remember what he said anyways no matter how hard she tried her brain usually failed her when trying to remember small details about someone.
Something that did spark her interest was his job when he grew up. "Woah wand making? I've never heard of anybody who would want to do that as a job. It sounds difficult but really important and cool. I bet you could do it. Well if you open your own shop in Diagon Alley you better give me discounts." The brunette giggled.
Then his next question Lamik directed at her caught her off guard. She paused for a second before answering. "Well there is a difference between being well known and having lots of friends. I am the earlier statement either because people know me from my Prefect duty or when I was previously on the quidditch team." Previously. It still stung to quit the team. That was the first thing she had her mother write was a letter to her captain. She had refrained from saying why but people would find out soon enough. Annie cleared her throat before continuing. "I don't know why I don't have a lot of friends. I mean maybe it's cause I'm too loud or having an off-putting aura or not that good at socializing or maybe I just have trust issues? I have one or two interactions with people but besides that not much. If you asked me who my best friend currently was, I couldn't give you an answer."
Her head hung a bit in shame. It had never occurred to her about her social standing because it never bothered her before. Sure she knew she didn't have that many friends but surely she had some? Now that she thought about it she did stray away from other's and usually hung out by herself. Annie sighed before shaking off that topic. A few hours went by of conversing back and forth and she could say that she enjoyed chatting with Lamik, it came easy and well she had a lot to talk about.
Soon the train whistle blew and startled her to the point of jumping out of her seat. She blushed in embarrassment before turning her head back to where Lamik supposedly sat. "I guess that means we are close. Can you see the castle?" A hint of curiosity was heard in her voice. She had always enjoyed looking out the window at the castle as it came into view but now she couldn't anymore. A pang of sadness hit her before a wave of panic replaced it. "Oh god we are almost there.. I'm scared. People will look at me and they'll judge me. I'll get lost. How will I get to classes? How will I do classes? Have my parents contacted Caradoc or the Headmaster?" Her voice was shaky with nerves as thoughts swarmed her head. Her knuckles were white as she gripped the cloth blindfold, hesitating to put it over her eyes again. This was going to be hell.

Helpless- And I know she is
Given the humming, Lamik wasn't entirely sure if Annie was even listening to him, but he didn't stop midway to ask. Her comment on wand-making and discounts made him smile a bit, though that probably wouldn't mean much to her given the blindness. "I don't promise anything." He said, resting his head against the window. He found it pretty surprising that she really didn't have all that many friends, though he did agree with the fact that being well known and being popular were two different things. Needless to say, he had decided to at least try and befriend Annie, so maybe he could change that.
The hours passed, the whistle blew, and Annie bolted out of her seat in shock. "I think I do see it, yes." He said after looking out the window, not bothering to hide the amused grin on his face (As he didn't really need to). The grin vanished once she started voicing her worries though, and in its stead grew a frown. "Im sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened at Hogwarts, and I'm sure it won't be the last. It's a magical school- I'm sure they have some way to help you. As for what others will think... well once you manage to walk through the school blind I'd think they'll be impressed." He then impulsively said something that he knew he may come to regret. "And worst case scenario, I'll drag you across the school myself whenever I can."

Helpless- And I know she is
Lamik had been quiet for awhile, probably listening to her answers she had given. She wondered if that changed his opinion of her. Not having friends could mean many things, but to be honest she just didn't put herself out enough nor did she think she needed friends. But now, things were different and she'd have to rely on others a lot more than she wanted to. A small sigh escaped her lips after blurting out all her nervous thoughts. Oh god she just spoke all of that out loud to him, great.
The brunette had closed her eyes and winced at the awkwardness she had left in the air but as quickly as it came it disappeared. What did he just say? "You really think people would be impressed? Maybe but that still doesn't cease my worrying. It's going to be really hard, everything is from now on." She bit her lip, more unpleasant thoughts filling her head. Then he said something that shocked her. After a few seconds of silence she returned to her sarcastic self and answered him with a snort of defiance. "Well I'd rather you not have to "drag" me across the school but I might take you up on that Lamik."
She grinned when she felt the train come to a stop. With one hand she slowly hoisted herself up from her seat and felt around for her luggage which she placed between her legs and nearly tripped over when trying to stand up. Feeling a lot happier she opened the compartment door after looking like a mime for a few seconds. A giggle of amusement made it's way out of her mouth at the thought of her being a mime.
Loud noises of students chattering filled her ears as other students stepped out of their compartments. Her heart beat quickened but she casually stepped to the side to let out a majority of students before following where their footsteps had led instead of feeling around and looking lost her ears were starting to help her out more and more. Soon she felt the cold metal door that led outside. She took a deep breath, picked up her luggage and stepped down the stairs. Unsure if Lamik was behind her or not she stepped off the stairs without turning around. "See you around Lamik!" And with that comment, she threw her blindfold in the air before walking off. It wouldn't be of any use to her now. It would just hold her back now and with Annie, there was no holding her back.
