No Need to Fret
Percival could not help the smile that pulled at his features at the other's words. He could see how the chance of getting hit by a bludger, could sour one's outlook on the sport. The black ball made of iron was a force to be reckoned with. Especially, when one did not have a Beater's bat to redirect the balls. The boy would not notice the weird color in the boy's eyes. Percival was not good at picking up small details, and it was a fact well represented at the moment. The boy looked away from Alan, preoccupying himself by picking at a few strands of grass.
"I do enjoy Quidditch. There is a lot of teamwork involved, and everyone has to rely on one another." he said a small smile peering on his face as he glanced up at Alan once again. He truly admired the amount of effort it goes into a game for a team to bring home a win. Percival knew it required trust in one's own skills and trust in your teammate's skills.
The boy was a tad surprised that he found himself enjoying the other's presence. The boy did not know many Gryffindors that he could stand. It seemed almost like second nature for Slytherins and Gryffindors to hate one another. So, he wondered what made Alan so special that he didn't spark that deep-seated grudge against all who wore red and gold. Percival chalked it up to the other's rather agreeable personality.
Percival let out a small huff of laughter at the other's apparent excitement overplaying a cord. It was amusing to watch someone be so excited over something so small. He wondered if this was how his Uncle Terrence had felt when he had taught him how to play. The boy would quirk his mouth as he tried to think of something for the other to play. In truth, he didn't have anything specific so he decided to go for something more basic. "We could practice chord progressions. In its most basic form, it is a series of chords that you play in a sequence." he started with a more serious look on his face.
"The most common chord progression is C to G to A minor to F. With that you can play hundreds of different songs. Try playing those chords in a sequence." he instructed with a small wave of his hand. Percival would then cross his legs in a criss-cross position. Leaning forward, the boy would rest one arm against his thigh. The position would tilt the boy's body towards Alan so that he could see the other more easily.

No Need to Fret
@Percival RainwoodThe third year hummed slightly as he stared at the guitar. He had the vague understanding what chords were but clearly had to guess what it meant. However Percival was quick to go on to help him with what he had instructed the Gryffindor to do and did it with a calmness and patience that Alan appreciated immensely. The boy knew that he would not have the focus to keep up with this for long, but he would enjoy it as long as his attention span would allow him and tried a few simple chords just like the other boy had shown him.
His finger placement looked obviously unpracticed and the chords were not played the most amazing, but it was pretty decent for a beginner and Alan would smile as he would make small amounts of music. "What is your favorite song to play?" he would ask the boy who was sitting in front of me, his hands stopped moving as they rested on top of the strings. As if it was a small tic, or just his hands fidgeting, he would occasionally pluck at one of the strings before shutting down the sound by placing his palm over them. He would do that multiple times without even paying much attention to it as he was now focused on the other boy and their conversation.

Percival nodded mostly to himself as he listened to the boy's chords. The chords themselves were shaky and it was clear that the position was an unfamiliar one. Though that was too be expected. Thinking back on their earlier exchange the boy had said he tried to learn once. He didn't know how long ago it had been when he had tried to pick up the guitar. Though judging from the sound of the chord, it had to be somewhat recently. The chords strummed through the air being picked up by crisp wind.| Outfit |
It dawned on Percival that the air had dropped by a degree or two. Though that was to be expected. Seeing how the time had to be at least ten-past five. The temperature would only decrease from here. Especially, when there was a lake only a few feet from the pair. The wind that blew by seemed to take on a sharper tone then the earlier light breeze. Though thankfully the wind was few and far between. Paired with his black turtleneck the boy wasn't effected by the wind.
Percival glanced towards Alan as the boy asked him a question. Percival bit at the inside of his cheek as his brows furrowed in concentration. The boy didn't really have a specific song he liked to play. Though the more he thought about it the more he decided on one.
"I'd have to say Ode to Joy." he said after a couple of seconds passed. Percival could still remember playing the song with his Uncle Terrence. It had been the very first song that he had learned to play. His Uncle had said that the song followed an easy linear motion. Percival could still remember the feeling of swelling pride when he was able to play it all the way through. The boy glanced down towards Alan's hands as he heard a note vibrate out randomly. It appeared that Alan had run out of steam. Percival's hands reached out slightly gripping onto the very top of the neck.
"May I?" he asked giving the other a small smile. Ever since Percival's guitar was destroyed by a certain raven. The boy had found himself far more protective of the instrument. When the other would let go of the instrument, he would pull the instrument into his lap. Before placing it safely back into the guitar case.

No Need to Fret
The Gryffindor hummed, a bit of curiosity showing on his face when the other boy replied to his question. He was not sure whether he knew the song or not but he was aware of the fact that he was actually not able to point at the name of it and match it to any melody so he would have to go with the assumption that he actually had never heard it being played before. "Can you play it?", he asked before carefully handing over the guitar, as if it was something precious. It did not take an empath to know that the other boy liked his instrument a lot.
He would sit back and pull his cloak closer, as the afternoon would bring some evening sun. It was not too cold and he would not mind sitting there and listening to the other boy play for a while before he would head back. He was sure that dinner was to be soon enough anyway, though he was not aware of what time it was exactly as he had no watch. But he could feel how he was slowly starting to feel hungry, especially now that he was thinking of food he was aware of how empty his stomach felt.

Percival gladly took the guitar back into his lap the second the other allowed him to. The familiar weight of the instrument in his lap centering him. He nodded at the other's question. "Of course." he said with a small nod. The song itself was rather simple in tune. Making it a good song for a beginner player to learn. Though the melody itself was rather pretty. The boy plucked out the notes with ease, and it didn't take him long to finish the melody. In the end, it only lasted for about a minute.| Outfit |
He let the instrument rest in his lap after finishing the song. It was at that moment he realized how hungry he had become. Judging from the position of the sun it had to be getting late. That meant that dinner would be served soon. A meal that he himself would rather not miss. Percival turned to look at the brown-haired boy with who he had accidentally spent a good amount of time. It surprised even himself that he had gotten along with the Gryffindor so well. He didn't usually like Gryffindors. Though, it seemed today was full of exceptions. "I should get going. It was nice to meet you Vanes." he said giving the other a small smile.
Percival stood up and place his guitar back into its case. Ever since his encounter with Dealla he had made sure to transport his guitar with its case. Sure it was bulky, but at least it was better protected. The boy waved goodbye to the other before leaving to go back to his dorm. He would need to drop off his guitar before going to dinner after all.Interacting with: @Alan VanesPercival Rainwood exits the thread.

Alan would listen as the boy played the song and had to silently admit to himself how nice it sounded. He was happy to have met Percival Rainwood that day as it were the small things that could make a day great and it did not take much. Sometimes all it took were a few nice minutes with a melody, meeting someone new. When the other kid was done, Alan said his goodbye to the other student as he left, giving him a warm smile on the way, before letting himself drop back into the grass, just laying there for a few more moments as he just let his thoughts wander. Every now and than that was simply necessary, even though not everyone did so, but Alan just loved spending some time outside and relax. It kept him going, let him be cheerful and see things more clearly. He would call Tiger over and gave the feline a few pets and after a while would sit back up and head back to the castle to turn back towards his responsibilities and because it was getting later and he did not want to miss dinner time as the sun set and the birds grew quiet to return to their nests, the hooting of an owl could be heard as he headed back through the main door and inside of the castle.
