"Sorry about dragging you along, I wasn't fond on the idea going alone."
“Oh, it’s fine. You know how comfortable I am at events like these, and how not-weird I am when I meet new people.”
Though Wyatt wanted to be angry with Alec for ignoring him, then suddenly reconnecting with the Snake after months of radio silence, his tone was more self-depreciative and humorous than bitter. In truth, Wyatt really missed Alec all that time he paid no attention to him and exhaled a breath he didn’t realize he was holding in when Alec asked Wyatt to accompany him to the P.U.R.E. ball.
Maybe this was an opportunity for Wyatt to find out what he did that stopped Alec from talking to him for so long.
"There are so many people here I don't know, I don't think I would've gone otherwise."
Wyatt offered Alec a small hm in acknowledgment. The Slytherin never intended to go to the Ball, even though it was hosted by one of his dormmates- no. Especially because it was hosted by one of his dormmates. The thing he was really worried about though was the club sponsoring the event. Sure the club’s whole idea was to make up for the gross actions of past pure-bloods, but did the school really need a pure-blood club?
It gave Wyatt a weird feeling.
"How were your winter holidays? I don't think I got the chance to ask. I made you a scarf, sorry I haven't been able to get it to you yet. On the bright side or downside, depending on how you look at it, it did give me more time to work on it." Alec said with a small smile. Wyatt was kind of shocked.
He hadn’t ever gotten anything hand-made, nor had he ever had a real festive Christmas. Most years, his mother couldn’t afford gifts, and never did they have enough spare cash for an elaborate meal. Trying not to look like an idiot in front of Alec, though, Wyatt pretended to barely have a reaction.
Wyatt did have some spare galleons though and had purchased something for Alec. It was little, and it was stupid, and the Slytherin wasn’t a very good gift-giver, having absolutely no experience, but it was a gift. When Wyatt had gotten to Hogsmeade before Lindsey had arrived, he decided to visit the muggle items shop. Homesickness was an illness he still hadn’t recovered from since the summer.
While in there, he’d spotted a little blue teacup. Of course, it reminded him of Alec and their talk about tea parties, so he bought it, even though Alec hadn’t been talking to him since the beginning of that month. Two and a half months later or so, he’d yet to give the gift to Alec. But he would soon enough.
“You shouldn’t have put in so much work into a gift,” Wyatt said. “But I’m sure it’s amazing. I can’t wait to see it.”
“As for my holidays, I stayed here. Nothing special.”
Wyatt crossed his arms over his chest. He wanted to ask why Alec had been so distant, and what he did to deserve the silent treatment, but that was too much, too quickly, and Wyatt didn’t want to hear someone he thought to be his friend spell out all his flaws, so he went a lighter route.
“If you’re too nervous to start a conversation with someone alone, I can go with you,” Wyatt said. “I don’t know if I could add anything to the conversation, but if you break out that “hill-arious” joke, we could just stand there for a few minutes waiting for them to recover from their laughter.”

Alec watched Wyatt's expression shift immediately after Alec had spoke about the scarf. Surprised, shocked? The expression change hadn't been anything too crazy, It almost seemed too little of an expression to notice any emotions, but it was enough for Alec to silently pick out and notice. Alec liked the idea of being able to notice it as well. Either way, back onto the topic of the scarf, It'd taken a week's time to finish at most. But even the week's time distraction was like gold, Alec wasn't complaining. He'd started working on it for the knitting night errand. There was all the assortment of colors, and then out of the corner of his eyes he saw the fluffiest ball of yarn he'd ever seen. Perfect for the project at hand. Since he'd finished the scarf, he'd been wanting to make one for himself as well, although no time for not wasting time seemed to be in the schedule at the moment.
"I didn't put in that much work. I wasn't planning on a scarf, it just sort of happened. I was caught up in secret santa, it was lucky any of that fell together." Alec said after Wyatt spoke. The scarf, or well giving any gift, brought nerves. Really it wasn't anything special, just a scarf. Besides, at the rate things were going the snow would be gone before it could be put to any practical use. You know, on the other hand though, that secret santa gift had turned out amazing. "Turns out father christmas looks quite well on the back of a leather jacket." Alec finally taking a hand out of his pockets, his right one the boy ran it through his hair, smiling in only just the slightest now. His right hand with designs all over it everywhere, oh so clearly visible.
Yes, Alec had sewn a santa onto the back of a leather jacket. It was hard to get anything through the leather, but Alec got there, eventually. Great turnout with the cat leather jacket. Who knew one would need such? Either way Alec didn't end up going down the duelling gift route, although it would've been funny to see his opponent get handwritten spell casting tips as a fake gift before he got to the real one, Alec was fine where that was at. Alec watched as Wyatt went quiet for a moment, folding his arms across his chest. When Wyatt spoke, his words were almost unexpected.
Alec wasn't that nervous, or wasn't willing to admit it if he was. Wyatt's offer was nice, though Alec by now seemed to have forgotten the reason he was even here at all. If he'd thought about it realistically, he knew he wouldn't have been one to socialize, but he hadn't been. It's not like it was humanly possible to take anything into account anyway, Alec had tried. Wyatt after such went on saying he didn't know if he'd have anything to add to the conversation, which Alec was about to object too but couldn't as Wyatt went on. What a hill-arious reference, Alec's face split into a smile so big, it almost hurt. The joke wasn't meant for laughter as much as it was meant to be cheesy and get rid of awkward silence, but Alec liked it. And as any human would, or being that could speak, Alec responded, or course only after he'd spent a few seconds focusing on his feet to get himself not to smile so much. Finally, with a more serious look on his face, he actually responded.
"Yes, because-" Alec stopped mid way as his eyes again caught a distressed Michael. One who was running off, man, Alec would definitely need to owl him now. Alec bit the inside of his mouth before looking back over at Wyatt. Alec was determined to not have a terrible night, and while that sounded terrible, he was still going to set this aside to deal with later. "-that's totally what happens when someone tells a joke. Keeping that in mind for future reference, jokes, the world's best defense spell" His voice trailed, trying to catch tone with what he'd been saying earlier but to no avail.
Alec let out a small sigh it seemed like other things were allowed to ruin his mood though. "I don't know what I was thinking coming here. A stupid idea thinking I'd actually even attempt to walk up to someone" Alec said. People were intimidating, and Alec did not like it. It wasn't their fault for existing.. But it was his fault for pushing himself into stressful situations he thought would be a good idea.

Before he could stop himself, Wyatt’s lips curled into a smile, mirroring his Gryffindor friend’s. Alec’s ear-to-ear grin was too authentic to not earn one back, but he was looking down at his shoes, obviously trying to get the smile to fade. It was kind of… adorable. But like in a friend way. They were at the Ball… as friends.
"Yes, because-"
Alec paused, his eyes watching a first-year who Wyatt identified as the host of the event and his dormmate, Michael Miller. They didn’t really know each other, but Wyatt didn’t care for first-years. Especially this first year, since he’d gotten the entire dorm locked in a small room, where they had to play truth or dare to get out. All because he didn’t care about the note that warned him about the doors locking. He was an idiot. Wyatt didn’t care about how sad he looked.
But Alec seemed to. Well, maybe not that much, because after Miller was out of sight, Alec finished his sentence.
"-that's totally what happens when someone tells a joke. Keeping that in mind for future reference, jokes, the world's best defense spell."
Wyatt didn’t bring up how Alec’s tone switched, and he didn’t want to pry by asking what Alec’s relationship with Michael was. Or maybe he wanted to… he just wouldn’t.
“Yes, Alec, I’m familiar with the concept of jokes.”
There was a silence after that, Wyatt wondered if what he said was too rude, or if is tone was too bitter. Maybe Alec would just walk away now. Maybe tonight was a test to see if Wyatt had changed since he said whatever Alec took offence with at the beginning of December, and Wyatt failed. What if-
"I don't know what I was thinking coming here. A stupid idea thinking I'd actually even attempt to walk up to someone."
He’s not walking away yet. Wyatt thought of a witty enough response.
“Well, that’s too bad. Especially if you were under the impression you wouldn’t be dancing alone tonight.”
Another thing Wyatt had noticed a bit ago but chose not to say anything about was Alec’s hands. Tattooed-looking but brown. Henna? The design was quite elaborate but it looked nice. Wyatt felt like he could look at Alec’s hands for hours, dissecting every shape and part of the design. Wyatt wondered if Alec had done it himself. He was talented enough to do so, that was for sure. And the black painted nails just completed the look.
“I like your nails and everything…” Wyatt made a gesture towards Alec’s hands, “going on. Did you do it yourself?”
As much as Wyatt liked the look, he didn’t think he’d ever do it to his own hands. Obviously, first of all, it would ruin his reputation as a scary, not to be messed with, whatever name he was called these days, threatening, Slytherin bastard to have fun a fun henna design on his hands and nail polish on his fingers.
Second, he wasn’t really brave enough. Wyatt didn’t want to hear what people would say, and he certainly didn’t want to know what his father would say if he saw him wearing nail polish and a non-"manly" ink design.
He stuffed his hands in his pockets.

Alec rose a brow, confused by Wyatt's remarks playing along, if that was possible. Truthfully All Alec was really doing was exposing himself, but the boy didn't mind too much, if he had he would've kept quiet "Pfffffffffff. I was under the impression I wouldn't be dancing at all. Have you seen me, Starkey? I walk like I have two left feet. Do you really think I'd be capable enough to dance?" Alec found the statement not offensive but amusing, Alec was terrible at dancing, anyone could see it. It was why Alec never did it. No, he wasn't just a wallflower, he had actual reasons as to why he stayed to the side at balls. And no, Alec did not want to learn how to dance because he'd make a fool of himself either way, either looking like one because he didn't know how, or because he did.
Alec watched Wyatt's expression carefully. Was he mad with Alec? He was getting defensive, or.. Well, his form of defensive, like a prickly porcupine. Except a cute one with-What? No, um.. Focus? Was he scared then? Wyatt was confusing, Alec usually didn't mind it. You know if Wyatt was upset or something Alec would like to know. Especially if it was something Alec had done. Things had been fine before Alec got busy and finally just cut off people for a bit, Wyatt was more open than he'd ever been, Alec liked it that way, and now this. It hadn't been that long.. Really it hadn't, maybe a month or two, or a bit longer. Okay, look, Alec had been busy! For like that first half of a month! He couldn't be blamed! Okay, never mind scratch that, he could. Alec did want to be though, he thought it was fair, maybe an explanation would've been nice, but he doesn't owe anybody anything. Nobody wanted to see a journal destroying Alec anyhow.
This was when he felt Wyatt's eyes on him, it wasn't eye-contact but he was somehow still looking at Alec. It took a moment for Alec to realize where Wyatt was looking, but when he did, it was too late for Alec to put his hands away. Wyatt had already started to speak. Complimenting what he'd done, Wyatt asked if Alec had done it. Alec's face flushed right away, an odd change of topic, one Alec actually had his reserves, yes something he was shy with how totally impossible. Alec's hands went to his pockets just like Wyatt had done, mainly so they couldn't be looked at, Alec hadn't done it for show. "I er-No. My parents gave Nina some stuff for christmas, I was her test subject.. Or something, I can't remember what exactly she called me."
It was a lie, technically a half-lie since the boy had been forced to become a test subject. But that was for taming his messy hair, and only because she was sucking up to his parents. She never liked even being in his presence otherwise. Still the lie was obvious enough to know it wasn't true, done on purpose so Alec didn't have to own up and by the same standards also wasn't trapped in offending people with lies that weren't believable.
"The nail polish was my own doing, I wore it at the masquerade ball too. I put it on earlier and forgot nail polish remover was a thing, hadn't exactly planned on wearing it around everywhere." Alec said, his voice quiet again, and with the quietness came more truthfulness this time. Acts of boredom lead to stupid things, as referenced from the earlier case of the prank Alec had done. That was not directed at Wyatt, but he ended up being the target, and ended very hurt. Oops? "It's nice you like it I guess." said Alec, trying to shrug it off like it was no big deal. Even while shy about it, Alec appreciated the compliments, especially from a.. friend. "Your outfit is cool, I wouldn't be able to pull it off." His eyes finally met Wyatt again, staring at him slightly. It was the truth. Somehow Wyatt was able to pull off outfits like these somehow and Alec couldn't. The world was cruel like this, it wasn't fair. This was also weird.. Alec was going to look away.. Now?

"I er-No. My parents gave Nina some stuff for Christmas, I was her test subject.. Or something, I can't remember what exactly she called me."
Wyatt watched as Alec’s hands retreated to his pockets, concealing the art. A creeping feeling told Wyatt that Alec was lying, as he had no prior knowledge of Nina being an artist, or that she was willing to spend so much time with Alec. But Wyatt didn’t want to challenge the Lion on a white lie, so he stayed quiet. Silently trying to figure out why Alec would lie about such a thing.
"The nail polish was my own doing, I wore it at the masquerade ball too. I put it on earlier and forgot nail polish remover was a thing, hadn't exactly planned on wearing it around everywhere. It's nice you like it I guess."
Alec’s nonchalant-ness was noticed and surprising. Alec wasn’t known to be an easy-going, chill person. Wyatt didn’t mind too much, he knew a lot could change in a couple of months, and not having to deal with anxious Alec was somewhat of a plus. But he couldn’t help but wonder why he was acting differently.
"Your outfit is cool, I wouldn't be able to pull it off."
Wyatt laughed via a sharp exhale through his nose, looking straight ahead, watching the ball-goers mingle.
“No need to compliment me back, Alec. Besides, why the lies? You’d look good in anything.”
Turning back to look at Alec, he noticed the boy was staring. His simple outfit of a sweater and slacks must’ve been the best outfit the Gryffindor had ever seen, he was staring so intently. Wyatt raised a brow, but didn’t say anything.
After not seeing Alec for so long, Wyatt felt like he should have had millions of things to tell him, but he just didn’t. Maybe he had things to say once, things he made it a point to remember, then abandoned the stories after the first few weeks of silence. He certainly didn’t like that he was accepting the way Alec dropped him for months. And now what? Wyatt was to trail after him like a pathetic little puppy after its owner? After all that lost time?
Wyatt looked down at his shoes and sighed.
Talking to Alec like not a day had gone by and everything was just fine and dandy when it obviously wasn’t was almost heartbreaking. They were once at a point where they felt safe enough around each other to say most of the things they needed or wanted to say to each other. But then, they regressed so much.
He couldn’t keep his feelings bottled up anymore. He gently took Alec by the arm and lead him out to the corridor. Once there, he stuffed his hands back into his pockets and tried to look at anything but Alec as he stood in silence trying to think of what to say.
“Why did you do that?” Wyatt looked up from his shoes and into Alec’s eyes, trying to find an answer in them. “Why did you just go silent a- after we really became friends, Alec? Did I say something wrong? I- I knew it would happen eventually, b- b- but with you, I st- started to feel like y- y… you were d- different.”
Wyatt brought his left hand out of his pocket and covered his eyes, willing himself away from the situation. He was uncomfortable. It was evident in his resurfacing stutter. He tried to speak faster in the beginning, to get it over with, but had to slow down towards the end. Merlin, how pathetic I must look.

Kazuo met Isaac's awkwardly long gaze with one of passive politeness, patiently awaiting the older boy's response. When it came, perhaps a hint of a smile ticked his lips upward at the corners before smoothing away to passivity. "As I understand the purpose of the club which has sponsored this event, it is to educate students on the true merits of being a pureblood. This ball, for example, to show off how purebloods are supposedly capable of… Well, I can hardly speak to the host's intentions but I presume it must be manners? Or perhaps wealth? Maybe our superior education in throwing fancy parties?" His tone was level yet his eyes shone with undisguised amusement.Open to interactions
As Isaac continued, levelling such an unbecoming accusation at him as to be playing "hero" - he was no spiky-haired shounen protagonist! How offensive! - Kazuo couldn’t help but to smile, eyes narrowing as lips curved upward. Not a friendly smile, though he was certainly amused. Rather it was a smile that bespoke challenge. “Was I championing the mudblood?” His head tilted slightly to the side as he asked the question. “Perhaps the intent of my words was too subtle. Let me try to clarify. Being a pureblood doesn’t mean you have to be a twat.”
The grin widened a bit, flashing teeth. “The legacy of purebloods is rooted in magic not wealth or status. If you think any differently, you’re the one who doesn’t understand where our legacy comes from..." He paused then, the smile fading to passivity once more. “Of course, this could all be a cultural misunderstanding. Perhaps you Westerners pride yourselves on such insignificant and petty things as wealth, status and ill manners.”
His gaze shifted to Eden as the peacock finally managed to respond to Percival’s amusing yet blunt insult. The retort had Kazuo arching an eyebrow at what he could only assume was an attempt to sound ominous. It only came off as childish, even for a first-year, and certainly not deserving of a response. He simply gazed at the peacock as Eden flounced away.
It was then that Michael chose to return, only to address Percival, announcing that he would be abandoning his own ball. He watched the host leave, eyes narrowed in contemplation, one hand raised to press against his lips.

Paige had, of course, ran off to a tree. She sat under the tree, willing herself not to cry. She hugged her knees. I totally over reacted. That was so- She looked around and muttered to herself, "Stupid". Than the tears came. She didn't even have to worry. She was wearing waterproof mascara. Stupid make up. She wiped her eyes but than froze.
She heard someone call her name. Simon call her name. He knew her so well that he knew where she would be. She cursed to herself before hoisting herself up onto a low branch. From there she climbed higher, making no more sound than the ruffle of the leaves in the night wind. She would keep moving around the tree in the opposite way Simon walked.
Than she heard another voice. One she wasn't quite familiar with. But she knew him. He was the owner of a club Paige had joined. But he was after her too. She cursed to herself once more.
She leaped down, branch to branch, in till she was over Simon. She was being so silent that she knew that due to his reflexes, he might go into defense mode if she startled him. No wanting to risk getting smack, she leaped down without making a sound. She grabbed Simon's arms and turned him around. "Why are you here? Go be with Haley! I feel bad enough without taking you from your Girlfriend.",she hissed.
She shook her head at Simon once more before running off, trying her best to stay out of sight. She neared closer to the other boy. She crawled behind the bushes. She would wait for him to look away before scurrying off once more. She didn't know where she was heading. If he saw her, he might follow her.
She ran inside but stayed out of sight. The world slowed down as she passed Michael, but she didn't stop. She just kept running. Away form everyone, and everything. She wasn't going to her common room, easy to be followed. She just kept running.
Back to the ballroom.
In till, of course, she tripped on her dress which surprisingly still wasn't ruined. But her fall most likely gave the boy's time to catch up with her. So she didn't get up she just sat there.

OPEN TO INTERACTION
It never failed to amaze just how keen children were on balls and dancing. Not that Evelynn had anything against the activity, or socialization as a whole. On the contrary; she found them to be rather exhilarating. There was rarely a shortage of entertainment at such events. Like a flower upon the wall, she could make herself scarce, widdling the whole duration away simply in observation of the various social nuances and pockets of drama. The music itself was always a bonus. And she didn't even mind the dancing, either, if it was with someone who knew the steps and was capable of keeping up with her and leading properly. Nevertheless, this was hardly the norm. By her experience, at least, her peers would—more often than not—release rude noises of protest before shunning any idea of such a sophisticated outing in favour of rough games or evenings spent on their console in front of a television.
Even she could only take the enjoyment so far, treating it more as a social experiment and point of study than something in which to actually participate. Here, however, the halls would break into excited chatter, girls nittering away in the loos between classes gossiping about which boy asked who out, and what they were planning to wear. And the dresses. She could vividly recall just how well gowned so many of her peers had been at the Masquerade last October, and the Blossom Ball the spring before that. She hadn't attended the previous year's Hallowe'en festivities, but she could only assume the trend was the same. It seemed Hogwarts' parents had more galleons than they knew what to do with. That or perhaps there was some sort of spell and all you needed was a magical academy alumna for a parent to have your very own personal fairy godmother to transform you into a vision of premature grace and beauty.
Such had been exactly the case as the esteemed pureblood gala had drawn ever nearer towards the end of their first term, and again with this most recent ball thrown by some club or other. PURE, or some such. Really, it seemed to be getting rather out of hand. The whispers of the pureblood gala, she could understand. That, at least, had centered around the new year and the holidays—or so she assumed—and carried with it an exclusive prestige that reigned above any of the pedantic celebrations held here at the castle. This, however...well, one dance in a school year was alright. Expected, even. Two could be rationalized as well—one for each term. But if clubs began hosting their own on the regular, that could quickly approach a dance every moon, and she wasn't sure she could stomach the tittering of girls from one event to the next without reprieve.
In fact, given the reputation that such events were upholding—that they were sources of danger, fighting, and frequent injury—she'd intended to steer quite clear of this one. That was prior to the adoption of her (relatively) new duties as a Gryffindor Prefect, however. And given that this was to be taking place within the Ballroom, it landed itself rather firmly within her responsibility to patrol. Perhaps this would be good exposure, she pondered, attempting to console herself. More than likely, there would be someone who stepped out of line. Better to exercise her authority to ensure everyone remain on their best behaviour and avoid any significant issues than have a repeat of last spring where things got quite out of hand. Plus, she continued to reason, this was in the castle. There would be a lesser likelihood—in theory—of any particularly dangerous unwanted guests. And if they did appear, at least the professors would be nearer for it and more quickly able to intervene.
With a steadying breath, Evelynn pushed her way into the ballroom. As to be expected, the majority of the students were very nearly unrecognizable in their red-carpet worthy transformations. As surreal as it was every time, she couldn't help admire the various ensembles. Ironically, however, in a see of pristine pre-Madonnas, Evelynn might actually have stood out. Unlike them, she was not wearing a gown. Nor anything particularly fancy at all, in fact. She still bore the school uniform and robes of that day's classes with her Gryffindor crest embroidered over one side of her chest and her Quidditch Co-Captain and Prefect badges pinned side-by-side on the other. Much as she had at the costume party, she stuck to the outskirts of the event, strolling languidly about as scrutinizing eyes roamed in search of any sign of misbehaviour.

As Jack headed toward Paige, he was momentarily distracted by something involving Michael. Not only was Miller the president of the P.U.R.E. club and the host of the ball, but he was one of Jack's youngest dorm mates and he couldn't help but feel a tad responsible for the younger student. He just didn't realize it until he felt a pang of distress when he thought he got the impression that Miller had become upset. Was it something to do with Paige Chase?

Well, he thought, First things first. At least since they were in the same dorm, Jack knew he could find Miller later and talk to him about what happened if necessary. In the meantime, there was that Paige girl to worry about. He'd allowed himself to be distracted for a bit because he had assumed the boy and girl going after her as well might have already gotten everything in hand.
Unfortunately, by the time he managed to get himself back on track in the direction they had gone, all he heard was what he thought was Paige's voice crying, "Why are you here? Go be with Haley! I feel bad enough without taking you from your girlfriend."
Whoops. It seemed like the couple hadn't helped matters, then. Perhaps there was still a chance she would talk to him, though? It was so odd to think this might have been some lover's spat when they were all barely 11 and 12 years of age, but he supposed he'd experienced worse during his time at Hogwarts. Why what he doing this, again? It wasn't like he knew the first thing about comforting girls. Painful memories of having tried to comfort Erin Ryan reminded him of that. Still...somehow, he couldn't just bring himself to ignore a person in pain.
"Chase?" he called again. Where could she have gone? Simon became visible to him soon, but his main target must have already moved on by then. As he turned around in a slow circle, the sound and whir of running footsteps caught his attention and he eventually managed to pin-point the source. Michael Miller appeared to be on his way out of the party which only seemed to be all the more reason for Paige to go in the opposite direction - back into it.
Jack opened his mouth to call out to her again, hurrying to jog briskly up to her, but before he managed to reach her, she tripped over the hem of her dress and fell. How the dress, which had already had juice spilled on it, still wasn't ruined was beyond him. Perhaps it had been charmed to remain spotless and perfect, but it gave a ludicrous feel to the whole situation; especially when she didn't get up from where she'd fallen on the ground.
"...Chase?"
As he began to approach her more gingerly, not wanting to scare her into taking off again, he at last noticed a face he did recognize - the Gryffindor prefect, Evelynn Decipio. He wasn't sure if she had come attending the ball as a member of his club or Miller's or anyone's at all; perhaps she wasn't even really meaning to attend and just keeping an eye on things. Still, he was extremely grateful to see her; even better without a silly gown like most of the other girls. As someone who had been the victim of a party disaster herself before, surely she would have a better idea of how to comfort the distressed Paige than he would...right? Not to mention she was a prefect now, though he hadn't been keeping well enough track to guess when that might have happened, exactly.
"Decipio," he called between shallow gasps as he tried to catch his breath from running. He wasn't particularly winded, but Paige had led him on a merrier chase than he'd expected. "I could...really use your help about now." Stopping to stand next to the seated Paige, he gestured down at the girl. "...Something...happened. I'm not sure what."

A night for beginnings
Percival watched as Miller exited the conversation with sudden haste. His eyes portrayed his confusion and surprise. He wondered who had caused the boy to flee. Though he would not be left to wonder for long. Percival glanced towards Kazuo as he spoke. His lips turned down into a frown as he listened to him. In truth, he truly hadn't thought of it that way. Was it true that the other took hurt in his criticisms over the rude guest? Percival didn't understand exactly why. Though now looking back they had been standing awfully close. It was possible they had been friends. Percival's face soured as he continued to mull over his own thoughts.
His gaze flicked towards Issac his brows furrowing together. Percival didn't like the look the other was giving him. As if he was something small and insignificant. It reminded him too much of how he felt in the large dusty halls that swallowed up his childhood. Percival stood up straight as if he had something to prove to the older boy. It was rather pointless, but he couldn't help it. Percival grit his teeth together as the lime-haired boy leaned in far too close. Breaking all personal boundaries with a single action. The boy turned his head slightly towards the boy. Wanting to keep a close eye on the other. Percival glared daggers at the other as he listened to the other speak down on him. He didn't know what was more annoying, Issac twisting his words or the other acting as if Percival couldn't possibly hand him. In the end, he decided both were equally annoying. "I highly doubt that Pincus." he snapped at the boy. "I am not scared of a meager thing like you." he said feeling as if he had to state that last part.
The boy glanced towards the white-haired boy as he heard a tremble in his voice. A sick sense of delight washed over him at the thought of actually getting on the nerves of the boy. Though, it didn't last for long as the other seemed to recollect himself. The boy's parting words left him somewhat perplexed failing to grasp what he meant by smelling blood. Percival's brows furrowed slightly before moving his gaze back to Kazou. He made a slightly disgusted face as the other spoke. "I don't understand why you are defending Mudbloods. Are you not a Pureblood?" he said his tone carrying a disapproving tone. Growing up he had always heard that they were better than any Halfblood or Mudblood. Wasn't it in their right to criticize poorly behaved guests? Percival would have said more if he had not been distracted by Miller coming over to say goodbye. The boy stayed quiet as he watched the other leave his own ball early. It appeared as if the other had been unable to recollect himself after the earlier events, and a part of him felt sorry for the younger boy. Though, the other part of him could not help but be annoyed at being left to defend himself against limehead.Interacting with: @Michael Miller, @Kit Paine, @Eden Gardener, @Kazuo Shimada
