Ophelia bounced excitedly on the balls of her feet, eager to board the famed train to Hogwarts and finally start her life as a wizard. I can't wait to meet all the people! The platform was loud, the sounds of people saying their goodbyes, crying parents and children alike, squeaky carts being wheeled around. She felt as if she belonged there, and the thought put an even bigger smile on her face The train whistle sounds and she hugs her parents who wish her well, then grabs her things and boards, her new life beginning.

"This is bleedin' chaos!" She exclaims to herself, searching for an empty compartment.

She finally spots one and enters, plopping down with a soft "Oomph!" The girl examines her surroundings, not finding much of note. It looks about how she expected it to look; plain. She runs a hand across the seat, leaning back and closing her eyes. "And so it begins." She mutters quietly. The sounds of squeaky compartment doors and children greeting each other filled her ears, and the smells of the snacks were heavenly.

"I hope I can get meself some chocolate frogs."

Ophelia turns to her bag and rummages through it for a moment, pulling out a book. She examines the cover, taking in the details and colours before turning to where she left off and jumping back into the exciting journey with the characters.

Jaen stepped onto the train; she was finally aboard the famous Hogwarts Express! She couldn't help but grin widely as she made her way down the thin corridor that ran down the train cars. Everywhere she looked she found students, pets, luggage, and chatter. She wondered which of these people would become her treasured friends, or potential enemies. Though she'd rather avoid the latter, the possibility was surely exciting.

She walked for a few minutes, from one trainc car to another and back, before coming across an empty compartment. Well, it wasn't actually empty, but Jaen didn't see the owner of a single hairbrush so she sat down on the seat across from it. She placed her small purple backpack down besides her and gazed out the window. The train was a little ways from the station by now so it was nothing than a speck. She wondered if her mother could still see her either way.

Jaen crossed her legs on the seat in front of her and slouched down, ready to take a little nap. She had barely gotten a five minutes before she heard the voice of an elderly woman. The woman said something but Jaen shook her head 'no' so she could go back to sleep.

She shot back up not even two seconds later. Jaen grabbed her purse and hurried out the compartment. Somehow the Trolley Witch had made it all the way down the corridor and was heading into the next train car in such a short amount of time.

Jaen followed her and soon came to the line of students waiting to buy some snacks. As she stood there she glanced into the compartments. On one side a couple of boys were busy with a very interesting and complex looking card game. On the other side was a single girl, engrossed in her book. Jaen didn't catch the title so she decided to ask about it.

"Any good?" She said it loud enough for the girl to hear.

Ophelia jumps, letting out a short squeak as both her and her book tumble to the ground in a heap.

"Sufferin' Sappho, ye scared me!" She exclaims, putting a hand to her chest to calm her thumping heart while simultaneously trying to tame her ever-resisting hair. She finally gives up on her hair and looks up at the new girl.

Ophelia then gets up and brushes herself off, taking her seat once again and dusting off the book, putting a bookmark in it and closing it with a loud 'THWAP!'

"It's a good book, one of me favourites, actually. It's Sherlock Holmes. 'Ave ya heard of 'im?" She inquires, tilting her head to the side with a little half-smile.

Finally, a possible friend! I hope this goes well... She glances out the door and sees the long line for snacks, then sighs.

"Looks like the chocolate frogs'll have to wait. Ah well," She mutters, shrugging. She gestures to the empty seat in front of her, motioning for the girl to sit. "'Ave a seat, won'tcha?" She shoots her a big smile and puts the old book in her bag so that she doesn't get distracted.

She stands and extends a hand to the girl in front of her. "I'm Ophelia, but you can call me Phelia!"

"Sufferin' Sappho, ye scared me!"

"Apologies," she chortled, watching the girl in amusement. The student picked herself up off the floor and closed her book with a loud 'THWAP', saying how the book was about some chump named Sherlock Holmes. That jogged something in Jaen's young brain but she couldn't figure out why.

"'Ave ya heard of 'im?"

"Nae, can't say I have." She matched the girl's half-smile with her own cheerful grin.

The girl glanced behind her, noting the line, and gestured for Jaen to sit. After thinking for a second, Jaen figured she could wait for the Trolley Witch to come back around later, since they were still kind of far from their destination, and went to sit down.

The girl immediately stuck out her hand, which she accepted, introducing herself as Ophelia. "But you can call me Phelia!"

"I'm Jaen! Ophelia is a pretty name; it means 'like a serpent' but also comes from a Greek word that means 'help or profit'. Also the name of one of Shakespeare's infamous characters." She said that as if she was conjuring up a memory instead of lecturing the girl.

She cocked her head to the side and observed the book cover. The man on the cover was wearing the type of hat that muggle detectives wore. That definitely sparked her curiosity; Jaen had always been into mystery books but her parents, specifically her father, liked to go on about leaving his library 'untainted'. Therefore Jaen rarely got her hands on muggle books.

"Fond of books, are you? What kinds do you like to read? I like scary books; they leave me on edge, but in a good way." Jaen reached for her own bag but then remembered that it was all the way back in her actually compartment. She placed her hands in her pockets instead, slouching down a little; she briefly wondered how long this train ride would be.

"I'm Jaen! Ophelia is a pretty name; it means 'like a serpent' but also comes from a greek word that means 'help or profit'."

"Huh, that's interestin'. Well, ye learn somethin' new every day," Ophelia responds, shrugging. She watched as Jaen studied the cover of her book, and held it out to her so she could see it better. "Sherlock's a right gaeilge bloke, he is! I just love readin' the books an' solving mysteries with him!"

"Fond of books, are you? What kinds do you like to read? I like scary books; they leave me on edge, but in a good way."

"Ay, that I am. I mostly read mystery, but a good romance every now an' again is always nice. Scary books are also good ones! What music do ye listen ta? I listen ta almost everything, except country." She notices the girl reach for something that wasn't there, but then shove her hands in her pockets.

"Missin' somethin', are ye? I don't mind waitin' if ye want to go grab it. Just don't take a donkey's years about it!" She laughed and produced a bottle of pumpkin juice from her bag, taking a long swig before capping it and putting it back in her light blue messenger bag.

"Huh, that's interestin'. Well, ye learn somethin' new every day."

"True," muttered Jaen, squinting as Ophelia held the book up so she could see it better. The guy was definitely a detective. And she definitely agreed with the girl about loving to solve mysteries but decided not to say as much.

Ophelia went on to share how she like other kinds books, like romance and also scary ones. Jaen wasn't a huge fan of anything to do with romance—that kind of stuff made her feel queasy—she was glad that the girl had a fondage for novels as well.

"I don't listen to music that much but I do like RnB."

Ophelia apparently noticed her reach for nothing because she said, "Missin' somethin', are ye?"

Jaen tittered at her little donkey joke and nodded. "Yeah I'm actually in another compartment but I guess I'll just move here." She gave her another smile before disappearing into the rest of the train.

A few minutes later she came back carrying her backpack and holding a box of chocolate frogs. As she stepped in she offered her new acquaintance some. "I actually don't like chocolate like that but I heard that these are pretty good. Want some?"

She took out a small package of lightly-salted crackers. After eating a few, Jaen asked, "Speaking of mysteries, have you heard any new-ish ones about Hogwarts?"

"I actually don't like chocolate like that but I heard that these are pretty good. Want some?"

Ophelia squealed in delight when she saw what Jaen had returned with. "Chocolate frogs are my favorites! I'd love one, if that's alright." She didn't bother waiting for Jaen to reply before taking one from the box, biting into it and doing a little dance. "Mmm, just as good as I remember!" She finishes off her frog and pulls out a little book and a pen then writes something down really quick.

She then looked across at the girl eating crackers and shrugged. "Not really, after all we 'aven't even got there yet! Me parents did tell me about some o' the ghosts there. they're all pretty nice, accordin' ta them. I cannae wait though! What house do ya want to get?" She leans forward, bouncing in her seat.

Her little body can barely contain all the excitement brewing within her, like a boiling pot that's about to spill over. She instead takes to tapping her fingers against her thigh in an effort to keep herself calm.

"Heh, sorry. I'm just really, REALLY excited!" She says sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck.
