"Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends."
—The Sorting Hat

The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.

Four long tables for the four houses. Closest to the doors from the Entrance Hall is Slytherin's. At this table sit the students from the Noble House, where they can discuss about their next mischief around the finest meals.

Marcus sits at the seemingly open spots at Slytherin Table, 'Probably for First Years' he thought then shrugged waiting to see who else will be apart of The Snake's Den. 'Hopefully someone who likes Dueling and Quidditch' he thought as he relaxed in his seat.

The soles of the young girl’s boots emitted a quiet, monotonous click against the tiles beneath her feet as she hobbled back down from the raised platform she had been seated upon, her thoughtful gaze scanning the excessive amount of commotion before her. Raising a feeble hand, the girl brushed her thin fingers through the, now tangled, mop of copper hair that sat atop of her head, uttering a shallow swear of annoyance under her breath as she approached what she believed to be the Slytherin table– but that should have only seemed obvious by the boisterous cheering and low-hanging banner, displaying the house’s name and their trademark animal, alone.

Determined, cunning, ambitious..

Plopping down beside a boy of about her age, one she didn’t recognize from the train ride nor the introduction ceremony, Adalaide considered the traits that had been rambled off to her and nearly shuddered right out of her skin. Truthfully, she never would have pinned herself as a Slytherin; perhaps it was the foul reputation of the house, but there was something awfully displeasing about the revelation.
Supposing that her disappointment would end up passing with time, as The Sorting Hat ’doesn’t make mistakes’, after all, the girl simmered down with ease. Shoulders rolling back, her nostrils flared subtly as she allowed a deep breath to slip from her nose, chest compressing stiffly. As much as she hated to admit it, she had always been a bit fastidious, even when it came down to small, unimportant, matters. Though, that was only an expected side effect of being so spoiled.

Ava smiled to herself. She was happy to be a Slytherin - her whole family was in the house. Or in Ravenclaw. She walked up to the Slytherin Table and sat down in a random chair. While she was really happy about finally being at Hogwarts and going through the Sorting Ceremony, it all was... overwhelming. Her family 'prepared' her for this - she knew she'll have to go to Hogwarts, go to classes, be sorted into one of the four houses... but it seemed like the reality was quite different from what she imagined about the castle. She closed her eyes and sighed.

Processing everything will be hard... she thought. She was never really good at making friends, or even talking to people. It all starts here, right? All the great friendships. Sitting down next to people you know. Slowly getting to know them by talking to them and spending time together. In classes. Out of classes. In the dorms, the common room. In the corridors. Having friends. Leaving for summer. Meeting them again in September. she sighed, opening her eyes and looking around for the first time.

Maybe this won't be that bad? Ava thought, smiling to herself looking at her peers.

Ava looked around again, suprised by hearing something at all. She wasn't used to people giving her much attention. She quickly shook it of and put on a smile, as she was more comfortable after those few minutes passing. 'Hello! I'm Ava. Nice to meet you.' She smiled at CLara and took a deep breath. 'I am from a magic family. And you?' She looked at her, waiting for an anwser. Ava looked around again and put some food on her plate. She took a bite and sighed as she didnt know what to say. SHe closed her eyes again and took a deep breath. She imagined what it will be like. Lessons, proffesors and all that. Sleeping in a dorm, making new friends.. She sighed and opened her eyes again.

Marcus nodded toward the newcomers with a slight grin "Welcome to the Snake's Den, I am Marcus De Wynter, Pleasure to meet everyone" he said nodding toward the three who just sat down "As for being apart of a Wizarding family, yes I am the heir to the De Wynter name, but don't worry about all the politics for now tonight we just relax and get to know each other" He added with another grin "Hopefully we can get along"

Marcus turns his attention to the food as he starts to grab different things to put on his plate, glancing to the three newcomers every once in awhile.

Jumping subtly as one of the girls that sat across from her, an overexcited little thing that immediately plucked an uneasy string within her, began to speak, her focus shifted to the conversation. Listening to the others chat, gladly introduce themselves, Adalaide’s brows knitted together in a distraught expression. Easing forward, she rested her elbows against the table before her with an audible puff, drawing in some attention.
“Adalaide Ishida-Käufer,” She bluntly hummed out her name in response to the dull, awkward introductions, accent rolling off her tongue. Extending a hand across the table towards the child opposed to her, Clara, or whatever she had said her name was, she shot back a feigned grin. “A pleasure.”
The slightest pause followed, as if she was puzzled by the question, her sly expression falling in an instant. “A ‘magic’ family? – Why? Are you a mudblood? You know, a muggleborn?” The redhead questioned abruptly. It may have not been her place to ask, nor to use such a term, but hell, she couldn’t help but feel a pang or curiosity.

Marcus raised an eyebrow with a slight smirk on his face hearing Adalaide address Ava "Honestly using the term mudblood is just bigotry at it's finest, especially coming from a Pureblood who should know better than to stoop so low that they use that term" He said looking over to Adalaide "I mean for all we know she could be a muggle-raised witch that really doesn't mean she isn't Half-blood or Pureblood, it just means she was raised by Muggles, plus how do you suppose Muggle Borns recieve their magic, do you think they are randomly selected by Magic itself or...maybe just maybe The Muggleborns are related to purebloods by way of squibs?" he adds as his smirk deepens honestly wanting to hear people's opinions on that as well as defending said muggle-born.

Looking around with a shrug "All I'm saying is we do not know her story as of yet, so using a term such as 'mudblood' isn't something we should do seeing as Purebloods normally view themselves better than everyone so why stoop to such a low level?"

After that lovely comment by Marcus he goes back to eating his food using his fork and knife as he cuts his food to nice sized pieces, plopping one in his mouth and chews with his mouth closed, nodding at the taste, when he swallows he comments "Huh, not bad...not bad at all, could use more spices but eh it works."

Ava shook the girls' hand and smiled. "My pleasure". SHe looked around, happily. *Yeah - this is my home, this is where I belong and this is where I should be* she thought, trying to convince herself it acctually was. She yawned. 'I'm soooo tired' she said, still yawning and took a bite out of her plate and chewed it. Ava looked around to see other tables. They were full of first years aswell and the chatter was slowly getting louder and louder with new people joining the tables or older students greeting eachother after vacation, like it was 20 years and not 2 months. *Besides, they had owls* she thought and rolled her eyes, a bit annoyed by their behavior. She turned to Marcus 'Yeah, you're right. We shouldn't use that term'. She took another bite and slowly chewed it. 'And you're right. Could use some spices.' She looked around again and yawned.

Visibly thrown off by the long-winded, and awfully pretentious, response from the boy that sat to her right, Adalaide could manage only an unimpressed scoff. Feeling a thick rush of blood surge upwards, her cheeks reddened in a buzz of embarrassment. Had the term really been so misused? Her parents, as well as the majority of her distant relatives, spoke in the same manner; looking down upon muggleborns and unfortunate squibs, critiquing their unusual lifestyle. In her eyes, it was no different than picking on any muggle, and really, just as hilarious.
“Remember when I asked? .. Mhm. Me neither,” She grumbled back thoughtlessly, wide eyes rolling in a seemingly cool manner, but truthfully, she was beginning to become frustrated. It wasn’t that she hadn’t ever been met with anyone who dared to oppose her bitter remarks before, but never to such an overt extent. At most, others told her to ‘pipe down’, or ‘cram it’ when she made such bold comments, but hardly bothered to spew out their opinions in the same manner as Marcus, or even Ava had. For once, she had been completely shut down.
Still somewhat bothered by the rivaling spiel from her new housemates, but not quite in the correct mindset for a full-fledged quarrel over the matter, Adalaide simply shoved one hand out, snatching a piece of food right off the boy’s plate just beside her and cramming it into her mouth without a moment's hesitation. The act was immature, surely, but did offer some space for the air to clear itself. "Ah. Tastes alright to me." She babbled off, lips curling upwards into the faintest sneer before she scooted close to the table's edge, reaching out to begin filling her own dish.
