Aliea huffed out in exhilaration, running as fast as she could. She could hear Alex's protest behind her, shouting "That's no fair you got a head start, though you will need it". She scoffed in return, although the other boy couldn't see it. "Underestimating me, Alexia?" She turned around to retort, just to see the boy fall forward in the snow. She stopped dead in her tracks, cringing as the boy raised himself to spit out snow. "Oh no, Alex!" She called out in dismay, and rushed back towards the boy.
She hoped he was okay, as she ran back. Luckily the distance between them were close, and Aliea could easily reach the boy. She felt guilty, almost terrible as she helped the boy get up. She didn't mean to let the boy get hurt, from her suggestion. "Hey, are you okay? That fall was nasty." She shuddered, helping Alex brush off snow off his clothes. "I'm sorry... Although Scourgify would be useful right now. It's a shame we can't perform it yet." She lightly added, smiling.
Aliea once started walking towards the dry land, while looking at Alex. "How should we start practicing?" Again she looked at the patch of ground. There were several fallen leaves and branches on the ground, scattered among the wet dirt. "How does Scourgify work, anyway? Does the target get cleaned, or does the debris just disappear?" She inquired, eyebrows arched in thought.

Alex would slowly raise himself up from the snow, spitting out a few last remnants of the snow before he spoke again "don't call me Alexia, Aly" this was said with a sly grin on his face. Then as he stood up and regained his balance he would speak again "Well I'm alright, my hand might be a bit bruised and might feel annoying for the rest of the day and maybe tommorow but I'll be alright."
Then after a final cough he would say "Furthermore I find your lack of faith distrubing" he added laughing for a few second before returning to normallicy once again though he did keep a small grin plastered on his face. He would then walk towards the dry spot of land listening to what Ailea said and nodding slowly, considering the options before speakin gagain.
"It would not dissapear as that is a part of transfiguration. I imagine that either the debris gets moved to the side, or some other place or the dust and such simply dissapears and gets cleaned. Or both could happen though I suspect that the latter option is more likely as the soap in the mouth indicates that the spel is focused more on making everything clean. So if we cast scourgify succesfully it should clean the area of dirt particles and dust or what we imagine to be dirty." He says going in his analytical study voice as he described what he knew of the particulair spell.

"Don't call me Alexia, Aly." Aliea smiled in relief, as she heard the boy joke around. She replied with a tone of ease obvious in her voice. "Can't blame me. I haven't seen you perform Scourgify yet," Aliea teased, laughing along with Alex. She intently listened to another Alex's explanation of spells. He was great at explaining: Aliea had no trouble following along with the Slytherin. "Hmm... I see. It'd be interesting to see how our spells turn out." She nodded in response, understanding washing over her features. "Oh yeah, did I ever mention you're great at explaining stuff. How much do you study?" Aliea asked in a curious voice, interested in Alex's answer. Aliea, well... She always finished her homework on time, and practiced spells occasionally.
The Gryffindor-Slytherin pair stood within the dry, at least semi-dry ground, the tall tree towering way above the two curious first-years. The ground was muddy, the tip of her boots lightly sinking into the earthy soil. The ground was indeed a great place to start practicing the scouring charm. She briskly walked over to the tree, standing on one of the thick roots that had protruded above the ground, eager to start practicing the spell. "Do you mind if I go first? Maybe you could tell me what I can improve on." Aliea suggested, taking out her dragon-core wand. "Then... I could help... you." She added in a less-than-confident voice, trailing off as she thought about the difference in their magical abilities. "Or not, if you're good at the spell." She spoke again, sulking as she readied to cast her charm.
Wand pointed at the ground, she recited the three key rules of spell casting she'd learnt in Charms class within her mind. "Scourgify!" Brows furrowed in concentration, the girl made sure to correctly pronounce the word and her wand movements. Aliea intently watched the muddy ground, desperate to see whether she had succeeded or not. Blue sparks flew out of the Gryffindor's wand, and a few leaves had erupted into flames. A sorrowful, almost pitiful look took over the young girl's features. "How was that?" She asked her friend, sighing.
At least I can do Engorgio... She attempted to comfort herself, while wondering what had gone wrong. I definitely need more practice. She thought, pinning a mental note to go practice this particular charm back in the Gryffindor Common Room. Maybe she'd find someone that'll help her. Yup, gotta find someone that'll practice with me. Bringing her attention back towards her failed attempt, she spoke once more. "I think I tried too hard trying to pronounce the spell right. I guess I need to focus on the result more?" She questioned Alex.

Alex would blush a little and rubbed his right arm with his left hand and says a little nervously. "Thank's I guess" He then seems to look off into the air for a moment before giggling to himself "Imagine if I become a professor one day, now that would be funny/unlikely" Alex then mentally brainstormed how much hours he spent studying every day. First adding it up and then dividing it by the number of days he had been at Hogwarts and he eventually arrived at the sum. "Well on average I spend about 4-6 hours a day studying. Though this also includes practicing magic" Alex then looks to the ground embarrassed for a moment thinking Ailea would think he would be a nerd.OOC: no problem
Which he sort of could be described as but he was more like a geek. The difference between the two was quite considerable for those practiced in the art of the geek or the nerd. Alex then nodded as Ailea asked if she could try first and carefully observed how her spell was progressing. Then he stood a few steps back, almost slipping from the muddy ground as he suddenly saw it explode into flames, then after a moment he chuckled a little "Well you could say that the leaves have decided to leave our world for a very flamy one" He then looked a bit embarrassed again as he realized Ailea though he could be laughing at her which was definitely not his intention.
As a refuge he then moved into analysis mode and focused all of his focus on finding out what had gone wrong. During this he stroked his chin and spoke once more. "I think the problem is you overpowered your spell. Your spell had too much energy put into it and because of that the excess energy was released in some way. Which was of course erupting into flames, but it is most assuredly a good first try"
He then listened as Ailea suggested her focusing more on intent "Well that could also play a part in it." Following Ailea's attempt Alex would try doing scourgify himself. First he would practice the pronunciation a few times as well as the wand movement before actually doing it. Eventually he spoke the words "Scourgify"
Then from his wand a small sparkle of blue light went towards the direction of the semi-dry spot only to land and not have anything done except moving the ashes a millimeter. Alex would then frown "It seems that I did not put energy into it"

Aliea turned her gaze back down to the now-smoke-emitting leaves, lips curved up to what her friend had said. "Well you could say that the leaves have decided to leave our world for a very flamy one." She wanted to laugh alongside the boy but she couldn't bring herself to, still disappointed at the fact she had failed casting the charm. "A well-fitting good bye." She replied back, though smiling. Aliea was still unhappy about her results, and sighed whilst taking in what her friend had said. Alex was sure better in spell-casting than her, and obviously had studied more. It'd make sense to listen to her friend. "Hmm, so if I focus less power, then hopefully the result will improve." She nodded, thinking how she would redo her spell.
It seemed like Alex was going to cast his own charm, and Aliea stepped out of the way to make room. "It seems that I did not put energy into it." Looking down at the pile of ash, she really couldn't see much difference. Nodding again, Aliea inquired. "So if we manage to pronounce the incantation correctly and the correct want movement, then... the amount of power or concentration put in would decide the outcome of the spell?" She finished, looking back at the Slytherin.
"Mind if I try again?" Aliea asked eagerly, before readying her wand. Less energy. Less concentration. Slowly breathing out, she hoped she'd get a better result than her first try. "Scourgify." This time she'd muttered the spell, intent on releasing less power. The pile of ashes beneath the duo began to stir gently, and Aliea watched intently. The ash had stopped moving, although nothing had changed, none seeming to been scourgified. "Uh, I guess I put in less power. But better, right?" She smiled in relief that she had indeed improved.

Alex would frown a little as he saw the disappointed look in the eyes of Aylris. He did not like to see his friend a little sad so he tried to cheer her up. "It is no problem that you can't get it in a single try. Only the greatest prodigies can do something like that"
"Hmm, so if I focus less power, then hopefully the result will improve." "Well generally that is true. The hard thing is to put just enough power into it" He would once again nod ass Ailea asked how the outcome of a spell was decided.
He would then get a bit of an explenatory tone "Indeed it does. The hard thing when trying to cast a spell is that you need to balance all of the things you just mentioned. The incantation and wand movement are often the easiest part as it most often focuses on mostly just repeating. And concentration is always needed in any spell. The hardest thing is to try and get the correct amount of magic as well as perfect all the other little things "
He would then take a breath as he had just spoken quite a bit. As Ailea asked if she could try the spell again he would nod encouragingly. He would carefully observe when she tried to cast the spell again. Once more he would nod as she asked the question and would look appreciatively at the result of her attempt to cast scourgify. "Indeed it does seem like that. And it certain seems like that"
Alex would then once again mutter the spell softly, and try the wand movement a few times. Then he slowly breathed and with a look of intense concentration. "Scourgify" he would then let quite a bit of power flow through his wand. Just as he finished releasing the power he realized he had put quite a bit TOO much POWAH into his wands.
Thus both people got rewarded for Alex's effort with the pile of of ash flying around the air, spreading into the area. And landing into their mouth. Alex would then gag for a second before spitting the awful tasting ash out and, contrasting the black remains of the ash with the white snow. He would then turn to Aylris and would ask with questioning eyes. "Succes I guess ?, a little"
