It wasn’t like Rose was trying to listen into other people’s conversations. She always respected other people’s personal business and conversations and was never one to eavesdrop. She was nosy but she wasn't that nosy. But to be fair, she was trying to concentrate on her mother and this “Luke” guy’s conversation because that was the polite thing to do, instead of having your own whispered conversation like almost half of the table. And she couldn’t help having Frankie’s side conversation on the back burner of her attention.

Rose was tempted to get up and go to the bathroom, and maybe stay there forever, overwhelmed and overstimulated. She was even tempted to start objections of her mother dating. But she did neither, keeping her big fat mouth shut and scolding herself for almost every move she had made so far in the meeting, trying her best to keep her head down until this was over, hoping it could be just a dream. Just something ridiculous that her mind had dreamed up. She had nothing against Henry and his family, but she did not want her mother to get a boyfriend. Everything had been going okay before her mom had gotten a boyfriend. Nothing needed to change.

Though she kept her eyes on her mother and her boyfriend, she could make out the words between her elder brother and Annabeth. Frankie only barely flinched at her snapping at him. Maybe he was just used to it, as the feud between him and Gabe never seemed to cease. It wasn’t noticeable unless she was staring at his face while she snarled at him for trying to help. “That’s okay,” he would mutter back. He locked his jaw in hesitation at her asking if the soup was the only thing they had. “Did you expect a five-course meal?” he would whisper light-heartedly, followed by the actual answer to her question. “Just vegetables- our mom is all about being healthy and that stuff. And pie.” Which did totally contradict his first statement, but Frankie didn’t seem too worried. He didn’t mention that this was way more food than they normally prepared, and their mother had most likely paid over her Christmas budget for all this fancy stuff, would be working even more overtime than she already was, which let Rose feel guilty, even though it wasn’t her fault. In response to her, Franklin continued, “Everyone calls me Frankie... since it’s slightly less dorky,” he whispered back. “And you’re Annabeth.” It wasn’t a question- it was more of a statement.

“They do, don’t they? Though my parents and I have long since made up about that. It’s a way of life that is really hard to get out of,” she said thoughtfully. Then she would turn over to Luke in response once again. “Thank you, darling. The ministry staff at the beast division and everyone affected are certainly lucky you are alive. As am I,” her mother would say fondly, her blue eyes looking straight into his with a strange… love? Yes, that had to be it, a love in her eyes that Rose hadn’t seen in a long time. Out of view of their mother as well as her boyfriend, both of the Moon boys gagged dramatically, and the girls looked down, Rose feeling as if they were intruding on something. Thankfully, their mother didn’t lean over to kiss him, which would just make everything more awkward, though if he kissed her, it wasn’t like she was going to pull back or deny it.

“I’m sure you would be an amazing dragon trainer and curse breaker, and that your mom would be very proud of you for carrying her legacy,” Rose’s mother said, smiling. Rose knew all too well the burden and blessing of carrying on a dead parent’s legacy, but she didn’t speak up about it- it was way too needy of her.

Pearl Moon shook her head. “All but Jessie, she’s too young to go and we’re still waiting for her letter. I’m pretty confident her letter should come on her birthday in April,” she explained. Rose knew how devastated her mother would be if Jessie was a squib, and how she would try to hide it as to make her feel better about herself. Rose’s jaw clenched at the thought. What if Jess did turn out to be a squib? Would she be ignored more than she already was?

Anyway, Rose’s mother carried on the conversation. “And all your children? Arthur, did you go to Hogwarts?”

There was no way for Pearl to have known, yet she brought it up anyway.

Having grown up in a small family the Knight's weren't as close or chaotic as the Moon's appeared to me. Arthur and Henry were the ones that grew close and knew every detail about the others while Arthur sort of grew as the mature one and almost adult figure for Henry and his twin. Henry also matured rather fast for his age and grew a sense of independence from being left alone at home for weeks at a time on occasions however Annabeth also grew a sense of independence but she grew away from her family and siblings chosing to rebel and cause trouble at most times.

If Henry glanced over at his twin then he would see she was rather different than her normal annoyed face and even was on the verge of blushing at moments as she had a whispered side conversation with Franklin.

"Yes I did actually and a show," Annabeth whispered back with a hint of a laugh intending that comment to be a joke before whispering again " it's no wonder our parents are match then since their so similar. Are father is also big on healthy thing," with a slight roll of her eyes before grinning a bit as she came up with her own nickname for Franklin.

" Alright then I'll call you; Astro," she whispered and for the first time if Henry would look over at her see she was about to blush before Annabeth shook away the feeling and whispered "yep but some people call me Anna. I prefer Ana so call me that unless you come up with a nickname."

While the two whispered, Henry was trying his best to block out any and all conversations there. While he was mature far beyond bus age and quite independent that didn't mean he wanted to be there. The twelve year old didn't really care if his father dated anyone probably because he was never home and became quite nonexistent after his mum died so he learned to grew apart from him and really only thought he needed his brother now so he didn't care to be there as he occasionally sipped his soup.

However he was worried about Rose's and his relationship, they were quite good and rather close friends so he hoped that this wouldn't change that. Maybe he could talk to her while they were back at Hogwarts and hope that this didn't change anything since his father was anything but close to his siblings and there was a good chance Henry would now be staying with Arthur over the summer than with his father at his home.

Even through Henry was doing his best to ignore their conversation he couldn't help along with Arthur to occasionally side eye the conversation which only proved the love the to adults shared for each other.

"Family especially pureblood's are always rather difficult to change their minds," Luke spoke and suddenly Henry felt rather guilty or sad for his father because of his ways that got him disowned from his family when his father was only a few years older than Henry. Luke didn't seem to care as he grazed into Pearl's eyes while he spoke "the only lucky one here is me my love," before leaning in and kissing her causing Henry to almost as a joke hide his eyes in his older brother's arm for a moment causing a silent laugh from both while Annabeth whispered to Franklin quite dramatically and clearly as a joke, " public acts of affection! My Weakness... I feel my power draining..."

As talked moved on toward school and career's, Arthur kept on his polite and mature act as he replied toward Pearl, " thank you miss, your to kind," before giving his younger brother a side grin and a bit of a wink whole Henry return the grin with a roll of his eyed like they were discussing a indie joke or something.

However when talked turned to school and the Knight's found out that all of the Moon kids minus the youngest attended Hogwarts when Pearl returned to the question awkwardness was sure to follow.

Henry and Arthur shared a look with each other while their father didn't hide Annabeth away or kept her a secret, there was certainly some guilt or awkwardness on his part whenever he said his daughter was a squib which started as he spoke (directly to Pearl it seemed like)

" Yes Arthur already graduated from Hogwarts and Henry is in his second year at Hogwarts. While Annabeth did show-" Luke was cur off by Annabeth who spoke " I'm a squib. Why does that bother your Pearl?" Henry looked at Arthur and was wondering why his father said show? Did Annabeth show signs of magic? Was he keeping more secrets from them? As the two were thinking about what their father spoke, Annabeth would whisper over toward Franklin, " we should probably go get that sandwich now Astro before the chaos begins."

His eyebrows raised. "A show, really? I mean, I'm sure that if you gave us like, ten minutes, we could pull something together..." His voice made it clear that he didn't really mean that, but he said it anyway. "Okay, then, Anna," Franklin would whisper back, clarifying that he would call her Anna from now on.

Rose and all her siblings had very quickly downed their soup by now- all five of them simply loved potato soup. Maybe their mom had made it just to butter them up, and also because it tasted like heaven, but Rose was glad she had. So maybe it had successfully buttered them up for the arrival and announcement of her boyfriend.

Right into each other's eyes, they looked, and all three of the Moon girls melted, holding back their coos and "awww"s. There was clearly a connection between the two. Rose didn't want to call it love in her brain, but it so clearly and obviously was. And then their lips connected, only for just a moment. But it felt so wrong to see. The only other person Rose had seen or remembered her mother kiss like that was... well, nobody. Nobody at all. It had been nine years since her mother had been in a romantic relationship and nine years ago, Rose was only three. She hadn't been able to remember any of that stuff. It felt out of place, almost fake. Almost like this was a dream and she would laugh at how ridiculous it was later. But it wasn't, and only after a second, they parted. "We can agree to disagree on that, my love," she would say fondly, before exiting his personal space and continuing to eat her soup.

"Pre-marital kissing? How scandalous," Frankie would murmur back to Anna jokingly in agreement. They were so dramatic, but at least they both knew that it was just playful teasing. Rose had a feeling Anna would fit right in to their family, where harmless jokes and pokes were common.

Maybe Annabeth had expected Pearl to panic or rush to explain she had nothing against squibs, but she was very much in the wrong if that was the case. Rose's mother would shake her head, still as calm and happy as before. "It doesn't. My aunt is a squib and she did a lot of help in raising me, even if she didn't really mean to. She's very successful and like a second mother to me and another aunt to my kids," she said to Annabeth, in an almost motherly tone. She wasn't trying to sound like that, it's just the kind of a woman she was. Rose knew that Pearl would definitely become a mama bear to Henry, Anna, and Arthur, now that she was that kind of figure. Not that she felt she had to, but just because she was a mother and she did that to all kinds of kids, even if they weren't her... oh how to phrase this? Possibly-future-step-children. "I don't doubt that you're just as amazing and talented as she is, even if not in the same area as your brothers."

A couple of awkward seconds passed. "We all thought that Frankie was gonna be a squib, but turned out he was just a late bloomer," Pearl shared.

"And now I'm better than Faith at potions," Frankie teased, elbowing his sister.

Faith would narrow her eyes. "Though not anything else," she would smirk.

He would nod at Anna and they would get up from the table, moving away from the table and around the island to the fridge, where Frankie got out some bread and held the door open for Anna to choose some stuff. "We have some meat, some cheese, I guess if you wanna put lettuce on there you can, or mayonnaise- Gabe likes mayo, but yuck. You can choose some stuff to put on it that looks or sounds good, that's what I normally do with sandwiches anyway."

Yes, Pearl was speaking about how she didn't have biased on squibs but Henry was focused on something else. On other words to be specific. His father said that Annabeth showed before getting cut off and the twelve year old couldn't help himself but think and hope that what his father said might have meant that she could have been magical, that she was magical and maybe her letter got lost or something else happened. A lot more thoughts filled his head to much for the boy to have alone but he was unsure who to share them with, Henry wanted to tell his father but was unsure with what his older brother was keeping from him just in case that he knew and wasn't telling him so Henry looked across at the red hair and green eyes whom he trusted the most out of everyone at that table besides from his brother.

Annabeth however seemed deeply uncomfortable, she was probably hoping for Pearl to make a fuss or act weird in front of her instead Annabeth was watching Pearl talk about her squib aunt and how she was just as great as her brothers not that Annabeth cared as she restored " I don't care if I'm great like those dimwits and I don't need your sympathy Pearl," the girl unlike her brothers, was close with their mother and was still rather heartbroken about the attack resulting in her death even through she would never admit it. Henry only knew she felt that way because Annabeth would on most occasions blame him for the reason that their mother died which was probably another factor of his anxiety.

Luke however gave his daughter a stern look that she just rolled her eyes at before he turned back toward his girlfriend and kissed he lightly on the cheryl before speaking smoothly, " so sorry about my daughter dear she has a temper to her. But your aunt, you close to her why don't you tell us some more about her dear. I certainly would love to hear more about the person who raised my love of my life." Luke reached out and held Pearl's hand in his own while still looking into her eyes filled with love and compassion.

Annabeth seemed even more annoyed as the Moon siblings joked about classes but when Franklin got up to help Annabeth make a sandwich, she would stop him before saying " I thought you were suppose to be smart. I was obliviously joking or were you to draft to tell a joke astro," the girl was usually mean to her father, brother, and strangers but something odd happened since she then added " sorry I guess if that was mean astro," however she would ignored the rest at the table was watching Franklin for too long of minutes before turning away looking quite annoyed but after a few minutes would repeat the cycle.

Henry then watched as Arthur slowly spooned his soup before speaking " we already know about you and your family Miss Moon. Mind telling us some more, miss?" Knowing his brother would now be engaged in conversation,
Henry turned to Rose and slightly mouthed or whispered so only Rose could hear him, "can we talk in private Rose? Without the others knowing what were doing, I have something to tell you."

Pearl shrugged when Annabeth snapped at her. "Noted." Luke was quick to apologize for Anna's behavior, but not after kissing Rose's mother on the cheek. Pearl smiled at him and said thoughtfully. "There's no need to apologize for someone else's actions, darling. She was just speaking her mind, and there's no harm in that."

Speaking of Rose's great-aunt… Pearl nodded. "Sure, if you want. Her name is Margita Bernthold, but we all just call her Margerie. And it wasn’t just her who raised me, though she did help a great deal, it was my parents as well. I had a childhood friend- I had known her since I was two, and she died during my time at Ilvermorny, so I moved over to the London area from America to live with Margerie for my sixth and seventh year in school. I attended Hogwarts during that time. She was really close to me during that time and I spent a lot of time with her. I actually never moved back to America after that. She’s very successful in the muggle world, actually- she owns a very fancy clothing shop. Tuxes and elaborate dresses and stuff. It’s very popular and she makes a lot of money, most of which goes to fund charities and stuff. If this keeps going how it is, it won’t be long until you meet her. She was absolutely delighted when I told her.”

What? Their mother had told her aunt but not her own children? That must have meant that she had asked Margerie to keep it a secret from them, otherwise Margerie would have included it in her letters that they got often during their time at Hogwarts. Rose fiddled with her hands, feeling uncomfortable.

“I know it was a joke,” he said. Even though she had been mean to him, he was still joking and insensitive to her snapping at him. “I was saving you. Show a little respect to your savior, Annabeth.” He nodded. “Thanks for apologizing, don’t worry about it.”

The number of people at the table was slowly dwindling, as Rose nodded at Henry, getting up and leading him into the family room. She would vaguely hear her mother start talking about her family.

“What’s up?” she would ask, a little concerned.

Annabeth didn't seem bother to what anyone around her were doing or saying anymore instead she only seem to hear Franklin as Luke listened to Pearl he lightly grabbed her hand before giving a gentle smile as he spoke " she sounds wonderful daring, meeting her sounds just as amazing to," keeping eye contact with her but still keeping his ears perked to the sound around him as Luke continued "to be close with one's family is a blessing."

Annabeth seem to completely ignore the two adults as she turned in her chair to gave Franklin before whispering to him " my savior? Should I be on my knees then presenting gifts?" Clearly she meant that as a joke as she gave a hint of a smile only directed toward Franklin before continuing with a small smile as she spoke about her apologizing, " it doesn't happen offended so don't get use to it Astro."

Annabeth slowly took a spoon of soup before leaning over to Franklin as she whispered " because I tolerate you more then others, I'll let you call me Ana," giving him a jokingly smile before taking another spook of soup as she went back to stirring before leaning in to whisper to him "how many more times do you think their going to kiss?" Before leaning against Franklin a bit as she dramatically and jokingly whispered "my power drains every time love is present!"

Henry would look over at Arthur as he slowly became intertwined in the conversation still slowly eating his soup. Arthur would watch the rest as he saw a break in the 'main' conversation before he would speak "you attended Ilvermorny Miss Moon? Would you mind explaining a bit more?" Arthur always looked for a chance to learn and ask questions probably where Henry's love of learning came from.

Henry would slowly and quietly stand and exit the room to the family room with Rose, possibly a friend who will now become awkward around after this dinner and especially after they become step siblings. Unable to hear what was being said in the other room as he pulled his sweater a bit before running his hands through his hair as thoughts swam through and around his head at almost light speed.

Looking around to calm himself, Henry let our a few breaths as he turned to Rose and opened his mouth before closing it again. Unsure what to say or do around someone who was a friend now met his family and saw now differently he was with his family and how different his family was compared to other families.

Staring at Rose for a moment before breaking eye connect before speaking " just needed a moment, everything is weird right?" Looking around the room for a moment before speaking again "did you know? My brother told me that are father was dating but we didn't know her last name so," he didn't mention the part where he didn't care who his father dated and that his father wasn't a father to him as he spoke "things aren't going to be awkward between us now or is it?"

Back in the room that they could hear, a ring box shock in Luke's pocket as he looked into Pearl's eyes still holding her hand as he decided when would be a good time to ask a question.

“It sure is,” Pearl agreed, using her other hand- the one that wasn’t holding onto Luke’s- to give Faith a side hug, as she was sitting on her other side. It was clear the entire Moon family was close. That’s when Rose noticed it. With the hand she was holding onto Luke’s with, her mother… wasn’t wearing her ring. Her wedding ring from their father. Rose didn’t know how she didn’t notice it until now, but it seemed like something huge as she saw it. She had taken off her ring? For nine years she had worn that ring after their father died and now she just… took it off? It surprised Rose, for some strange reason.

“I’m also a gracious savior, so no, it’s okay,” Frankie would continue, smirking at her comments. “Hopefully they won’t kiss too many more times- apparently our toleration is as non-existent as our souls.”

Both Arthur and Luke seemed very keen on learning more about Rose’s mother, and she didn’t want to be impolite, so she said, “Sure I will, but after this y’all have to talk about yourselves- you all are sweet but I feel like a celebrity,” she laughed lightly, lifting the mood.

Rose nodded at Henry. “Exactly. This all just feels… really different.” Chaska rubbed against her leg, as if asking if she was okay as Henry asked about if she knew. Scooping up her fluff and holding her to her chest, Rose would then shake her head. “I didn’t know she was dating anyone or even considering it again until I saw your dad in the doorway with the…” she swallowed. “With the roses.” She bit her lip, massaging Chaska between her ears. “I don’t know, I just felt like she would have told us… you know?” Rose smiled. “No, of course not. You’re one of my best friends, so this won’t change anything between the two of us,” she reassured him lightly. “Plus, I really don’t think it’s going anywhere too serious. I mean, my mom hasn’t dated in nine years-”

But she was wrong. Oh, so, so wrong. Because at that moment, Rose could hear squeals from the dining room. She quickly walked to the doorway of the family room, peeking out.

“Yes! Yes! A million times yes,” her mom was saying. Both of the adults had gotten up from the table. Rose’s mother was looking down at Luke, who was on one knee, fanning her eyes, clearly more excited than she had been in so long. Rose dropped her cat in shock as she saw her mother hold out her hand. And a ring was slipped on her finger. “Stand up and kiss me, Mr. Alluring,” she said playfully. Chaska looked betrayed as she landed on her feet, and instead went to go make friends with Arthur, weaving around his feet.

This kiss lasted much, much longer than the other ones, getting dramatic gags from Frankie. When they finally broke apart, Rose realized that she had forgotten to breathe, and took in a deep breath of oxygen, letting it out slowly. So that was it?

Both Faith and Jessica came over so that the girls were hovering behind her mother, admiring the ring. “We should have the wedding in the summer, so we can be there,” Faith commented.

“Yes, of course. Summer weddings are beautiful,” Pearl agreed.

In the best case scenario, at least in Rose’s mind, she would have hesitated. Asked her children. If they even wanted a stepfather. If they were okay with this. Even if they weren’t, they would have said yes. She… she cared more about this Luke guy than the children she had been living with for over a decade? “I- I guess I was wrong,” Rose said to Henry, a joking tone in her voice. She had regained her composure, but clearly the proposal had shaken her.

Out in the living room, Henry couldn't hear much of what was going on and the twelve year old didn't really want to as he started to pace around the floor a bit before bringing himself to a halt and taking a breath before landing his eyes on Rose.

Rose Moon. Second Year Gryffindor. Dueler. Rather close friend. Complicated family relationship.

Henry stared at Rose, trying not think about his father and her mother dating not that the twelve year old cared especially since the boy didn't even see the man as his parental figure. So Henry wasn't looking at the part where the two parents were dating, no he was looking at the part where things could possibly become awkward between him and Rose a thought that was scary toward Henry.

Upon hearing her words and nodding a bit toward her, Henry finally took another breath before speaking "my brother sent me a owl with only her first name that our father was dating not like anyone of really cared because- but who would know that it was you mum and my father?" Trying not to again physically picture it in his mind as he listened to Rose before nodding again taking a moment before replying "except things may get awkward between us depending is things go further one hopefully they don't- things become awkward, hopefully they don't uh-"

Meanwhile out of ear shot from Henry and back in the living room, different conversations were bring brought up as Arthur tapped into his mature and adult feel engaging in conversation with the two parents while Annabeth enjoyed her little sidebar with Franklin or as she called him: Astroboy.

"More like a nerdy savior," Annabeth whispered toward Franklin in a joking voice before squinting her eyes at the two parents and leaning against Franklin with a hand over her forehead as she dramatically whispered to him "forget toleration astro, the power that hides my soulness body drains from public affection!" Turning and meeting his eyes as Annabeth let out a laugh and playful shove toward Franklin.

Arthur however wasn't bothered by the scene probably because he was nineteen anyway the young adult continued the conversation much to his father delight as Arthur spoke "sure, what will you like to know Miss Moon?" The young adult had a crisp British accent nestled in his voice probably what allow him to look younger than he was but sound more mature.

However no one could do much of anything else, for Luke took out a delicate ring box may to look like a oyster from his pocket and go down on a knee next to Pearl's chair.

The Man would then smiled toward Pearl before speaking " I know this is unexpected but will you marry me Pearl Moon?" before opening the box gently revealing the ring.

After a moment, Luke would stand on to feet and kiss Pearl for a while before sliding the ring gently down her ring finger not revealing he to has left his wedding ring firm Ivy Knight at home.

"I'm more than happy you said yes my dear, you make me the happiest man alive and I can't wait to spend this life with you and our kids," Luke spoke wrapping his arm around Pearl's shoulder and kissing her again on the cheek.

Henry now ran in, following closely behind Rose when he would find the scene and was in total shock with confusion on what to do next. The boy would look over at his brother with plans of having a summer wedding was being arranged, Arthur would get up and walk toward his father with a strange smile on his face.

Then Luke took his arm from Pearl and something that Henry found has strange happened, Luke and Arthur hugged before Luke placed his arm around Pearl's shoulders things as Arthur spoke " congratulations father, I'm happy for you- for the both of you. You both deverse someone that makes you happy," clearly happy to hear that from his son Luke kept his ark around his Pearl as he replied " thank you Arthur and I expect you to be the best man at the wedding."

Arthur would nod before stepping to side of room whole Henry looked over at Rose when he heard her before replying, " you can say that again."

Annabeth however was in a different mindset and seemed like she had a range of emotions running through her as she first whispered "only good part of this is that your going to be my step brother; Astro but everything else is bloody horrible," before gripping the edges of her chair tight as it seem memories or emotions were running through her as she whispered about Luke," you filthy asshole!"

(The first room is the kitchen, and an open doorway leads to the living room. On the side of the doorway are the stairs to upstairs.)

Rose watched Henry as he talked about the owl he had gotten from his brother, telling him that his dad had a girlfriend, but no last name had been given, so he wouldn’t have known. “Really?” She shook her head as if trying to clear it. “I didn’t know. I didn’t know at all,” she repeated, mostly to herself. Rose did notice that he had said he didn’t care his dad was dating someone and was about to supply a reason, but he cut himself off, not finishing the thought.

Rose bit her lip, but another thought jumped in front of her asking him what he was about to say. “Not that it wouldn’t be amazing to be your sister, but I don’t know- I don’t know if my mom can support three more people, even with help. I never really knew him, but I don’t want anybody to replace my dad,” the redhead admitted. She wouldn’t tell this to most people, but she knew Henry would listen to her and that he would take it, and he would support her.

“Even though we’ve only really known each other for less than a year, I don’t think anything is going to make things awkward between us,” she reassured him.

“Oh, I don’t know-” Her mother would say. “School, friends, family, other jobs?” Mischief in her eyes, she would say, “Maybe even a girl?” But she wouldn’t get to hear about Arthur's girlfriend, for she was asked one of the most important questions of her life, to which she accepted.

Henry Knight was a good, close friend. One might even venture to say that he was among her best friends. They had been through so much together- and it wasn’t like she liked him in any romantic way. She loved him as a friend. A really good friend. Henry Knight, her friend, classmate, piano teacher, confidant, and booster of self-esteem. All of those things fit.

Step-brother?

Not so much. Future step-brother felt a little less absolutely impossible. Pearl smiled bigger than Rose had seen her in a long time, staying close to Luke, her boyfriend- no, her fiancé- and radiating happiness. Rose couldn’t help but smile, at least a little. “No, no- not as excited as I am, my love.”

As Luke broke apart from Pearl to give his son a hug, Rose glanced at Henry, then tilted her head towards their parents. She would follow this by going over to hug her mother, inviting him to come a little closer. “Congratulations,” Rose murmured to her mom. She could feel the cold, almost evil surface of the new ring on her finger as an amber lock was pushed out of her face.

“Thank you,” she said in reply to both Arthur and Rose, though mostly to Arthur. “Oh, yes! I would love nothing more,” she said fondly.

Now everyone was up. Frankie stood next to Annabeth’s chair, wanting to congratulate his mother, but also not wanting to leave Anna alone. “He’d better not be,” Frankie muttered. “That’s my mother he’s marrying.” Rose backed up so she was standing next to Henry again, not wanting to leave him in the dust, either.

Jessica, Gabe, and Faith were hovering behind their mother, the girls admiring the ring, but mostly just giving her support with their presence. “Ah, look at the time. This was an absolutely wonderful meeting, but I need to get these rascals to bed,” she smiled. “Not to shoo you out of my home or anything, though,” she said, turning to her fiancé with a playful look in her eyes. “We didn’t get to pie, though, so I’ll just pack that up for you and you can have it some other time.” And, with a flick of her wand, the dishes started washing themselves and putting them away, and in a few seconds, the pie was in a container in Pearl’s hands, and she slipped it into Luke’s before he could protest. “You can use floo if you want, or any other way you’ve got,” she offered. “Well, it was really nice meeting you all. And talking with you.”

Frankie would hold out his hand as if to offer a handshake to Annabeth. “I guess we will be seeing more of each other throughout the next few years.” (he was not exactly correct, of course.) “It was good to meet someone as insensitive and ruthless as myself.” They were still joking, of course.

As the goodbyes continued, Rose gave Henry a short hug as well before noticing her cat. Since Arthur had not paid any attention whatsoever to the silver kitten, Chaska decided to meow loudly and wrapped her paws around his leg, looking up at him expectantly. “Silly kitty- don’t do that,” Rose said, scooping up the fluff of a cat into her arms and holding her against her chest. “Sorry, she’s a drama queen.” Rose apologized to Henry’s older brother. She dipped her head awkwardly and retreated to the stairs, in the doorway between the kitchen and the family room, where she could watch all that was happening without really participating in it herself.

However the Knight family left the Moon residence, Pearl would keep Luke a little longer for one last kiss and hug, and during this hug, to murmur in his ear, “I love you, my dear. I will see you soon to plan our wedding.” They would share a meaningful look in each other’s eyes as well.

Henry had mix emotions about the scenario at the current moment.

He wasn't sure if he should pretend to have a fatherly bond with his father and congrats him like his older brother was doing or stand back and act pissed off like his twin sister seem to be doing. Or neither since the situation seemed rather complicated and confusing something that would definitely increase the twelve year old's anxiety.

Henry listened to Rose and nodded still not completely with the world around him, almost as if a barrier separated him from the rest. Henry felt like he was there, in the same room with the rest but at the same time wasn't there but somewhere else a million miles away from it all.

As the boy watched Rose congratulation and hug her mother and the interaction between the mother and daughter before his eyes landed on Arthur who stood next to his father; Luke had one arm on Arthur's shoulder and the other around Pearl.

"You two seem like an amazing couple and I'm glad you both found happiness," Arthur spoke before signaling toward Henry to come over. The second person whom tried to get the tween over there but instead he just stayed frozen where he stood still rather confused with what extractly to do next or how to react to the news of the engagement.

"Thank you, both of you. I'm glad to hear it from you kids," Luke spoke specifically to Arthur and Rose both of whom he made eye contact with offering both a warm, gentle smile something that was uncommon for the man to do.

Henry and Annabeth seem to finally get the twin thing since they both stood/sat rather frozen at the current situation happening around them. Annabeth seem to be on the verge of tears as she shook her hair back along with the tears before clenching her fists together in a attempt almost to keep the situation from getting out of hand.

Upon Pearl speaking again, Arthur smiled and slipped his wand from his jacket as well before waving it and cleaning up the rest of the dining room as he spoke " here let me help you Miss. Moon and I can take that as well," as the young adult took the pie from his father hands and held it in his own. The boy always seem to be more mature than his age while Luke smile with a nod toward his son as a thank you before hugging Pearl yet again with a kiss on the cheek as he spoke " thank you for the lovely dinner and night my love, we better get going as well lots to talk about I presume," Luke then look around at Pearl's children ending with Rose as he spoke " it was nice meeting each of you and I look forward to meeting guys again shortly."

Luke would take his time walking toward the living room with his arm still around Pearl and kissing her on the cheek again. Henry would feel Arthur wrap his arm around his shoulder before the two brothers walked into the living room together which was when Arthur would feel something pulling on his pant leg and look down to find a cat.

The young adult would bend down and let the feline sniff his hand before petting it when the two brothers watch Rose come and scoop up her cat as she spoke. Arthur would then stand up and wrapped his free hand around Henry's shoulders again as he spoke "it's not a bother, she's a cute cat definitely seems intelligent as well," the young adult would smile at the red head before continuing " what's her name?" However Henry this time would lightly pet Chaska while listening to Rose before Arthur spoke again " well you cat is adorable and you seem like a great person. If you're ever interested in a position as an auror just send owl," Henry would then push a few strands of hair from his eyes as he spoke " see you at Hogwarts then Rose."

Annabeth however would stop Franklin from leaving the dining room and pull him to the side before locking eye contact with him as she whispered "I'll look forward to seeing you for the next few years astro," not knowing that she won't but yet would miss him, "once we become step siblings, you'll be my partner here since we share many simulates Astro," Annabeth would smile toward Franklin for a moment before speaking "I'll write you partner until the we see each other in the summer," oh how wrong she was. However Annabeth would then do something unexpected and hug Franklin before walking with him toward the living room.

Arthur would turned toward Pearl as he spoke " thank you for the dinner Miss. Moon and I look forward to meeting you again," before smiling toward Henry and dispersing inside the fireplace where he did dissapeared back toward the Knight home.

Annabeth was next as she looked over at Franklin and mouthed "bye Astro" toward him before ignoring any words from Luke or Pearl as she copied Arthur and again disappeared back toward the Knight house.

Henry figured he should go next and look toward Rose as he smiled a bit before stepping inside the fireplace and dropped the powder as he spoke

"Knight Residence"


In a flash Rose and her family disappeared from view before his siblings reappeared in front of him. The twelve year old would step out of the fireplace to find Arthur put the pie away and Loki sitting in front of him, a smile appeared on Henry's face as he petted the orange cat before standing up at the sight of his father emerging from the fireplace. Henry moved to stand next to Arthur while Luke had a smile spread across his face before he spoke " Thank you, now you know why that night was so important to me so thank you all of you for being there," Henry and Arthur exchanged a look with each other while Annabeth crossed her arms and snapped " you asshole! Your trying to replace mum! You never cared about us! You only wanted to show what's her name that you were a good father which your not! You lying bastard!"

Luke would look pleading at his daughter as he tried to reason with her, " I'm not replacing your mum but I want to change. I want to be the father that you all deserve and Pearl; she makes me happy and I love-" however the man was cut off by his own daughter as she snapped " change! You can never change! You will always remain the same arrogant bloody asshole, that's a fact! And your not my father! My father died in the same werewolf attack that my mum did! You will never be my father so stop trying! Your nothing! Just a pathetic waste!

Annabeth didn't wait for a respond but turned on her heel and headed upstairs when she stopped and turned around as she spoke " mum was the only person who was there for us! For me! And your replacing her! Not once have you ask us our opinions on this or anything! And you'll never do! You will never change! I wish mum was here instead of you! I just you died instead of her!" Annabeth then ran up to her room as Henry stepped back and leaned against Arthur still taken back from the situation while Loki sat next to him.

Henry would feel Arthur's arm around his shoulders again as he looked at both his father and bother and listened to them.

" She'll come around, don't worry. I'm just glad that your happy father," Arthur spoke toward Luke who nodded as he replied " I hope so, I didn't want to tear this family apart anymore. I just wanted to bring us together."

Henry looked from one to the another and thought about joining his twin and talking to her but decided against it thinking he'll talk to her later but what he didn't know at the time was later might never come.
