Arissa was walking through the hallway, the path that she often use to go to her Common Room, her books in her hands, and her hair slightly unkept. Slightly. Most people wouldn't have noticed it but Arissa sure could. Luckily for her, she had managed to finish most of her essays, despite her initial misgivings of having to postponed her other meetings on another time. It's been months since she had first entered Hogwarts, and she found it to be quite enjoyable despite the fact that they didn't allow any personal house elf here. Her first few months were normal, for a first year student. Attending classes, meals at Great Hall, forging new relationships, looking down on people, searching for gossips, chatting with her friends, scheming, blackmailing, and dirty dealings here and there.

Yes, fairly normal.

Right now, the only thing she wanted the most is to sleep, so it was a given that her steps were a bit faster than normal, or perhaps, way faster than normal.

The moment she rounded on the corner of the corridors, Arissa sensed something was wrong. It's not exactly rare for the corridors to be empty this time of the day, but she couldn't shake off the weird feelings in her chest. She may not be the most perceptive, but it was quiet. Too quiet that it was enough to make her uncomfortable.

How strange.

A brief moment of observing proved to be worthwhile, as she finally noticed some sort of a ball being held by a palm from behind a pillar. She may not know whose hand it was, but she definitely knew what exactly was the ball after a closer look. She remembered a boy proudly showed that very thing when he presented her his private stash of joke products.

A dungbomb.

Realising the danger or trouble that might happen, she leapt into action. As quickly as she could, Arissa took her wand out and -"Expeliarmus!" She didn't remember making any enemies yet, but she knew that if the bomb exploded, the only person that would be the victim of it would be herself. At that moment, Arissa was truly grateful for the extra lessons she took to learn that spell, as it was a bit advanced for First Years.

Her attempt was successful, as the dungbomb fell from the hand and rolled slightly, but didn't show any signs of exploding. If it did, then -

Arissa unconsciously shuddered, as she thought of the situation if that happened. The dungbomb explodes , and she'll be the main attraction in the Slytherin Common Room for months, a situation she definitely wanted to avoid. Her slightly unkept appearance may not be noticed, but the stink smell of the dungbomb would surely take anyone's attention, even if they're busy doing other things. Even a sleeping person would wake up from their slumber, what more those who were awake.

A flash of brown took her attention, and it didn't took long before the blond Slytherin strode towards the pillar which she knew harbor another person behind it. And she was right.

And definitely far from amused.

"And what do we have here?" She drawled, her wand pointed at the person before her. Her voice might be neutral, or at least she hoped it to be, but the gleam in her eyes was far from cordial. "If you did what I suspected, then I can assure you that it won't be an easy end for you."

Okay Gia, the first year thought to herself, this needs to be set up PERFECTLY. No mistakes. She knew just how risky this was, but. . . it was still worth a shot. Plus, there was no going back now, since she had already bought exactly what she needed, and it was balanced lightly in the palm of her hand.

A dungbomb.

The small, brown ball had quickly become one of Gia's absolute favorite things in the wizarding world - once she actually heard about them, that is. Still, they were perfect for practical jokes on others, especially if you could get away before the victim of the prank realized who'd thrown it. And, since the young girl was very light on her feet, making an escape was always an easy thing to do. Or at least, it had been a simple task. . . until today.

The Gryffindor girl had slipped into her dormitory right after classes ended and hurriedly snatched up the object, hiding it inside her balled up jacket when she left. It was a surprisingly warm day outside, despite it being wintertime, so no one looked twice at the coat she was holding and wondered why she wasn't wearing it instead. See, everything had gone just as she'd planned, all the way up until the last moment. And of course that's where things just had to go completely wrong.

Having chosen an empty corridor to be the setting of her attack - excuse me, prank - Gia had to wait a while until someone came along. Still, it was a little surprising just how long she needed to wait, and after about ten minutes of standing behind a pillar just waiting for someone to come her way, she began to get bored. Like, really bored. "Okay, that's it," the first year finally mumbled to herself. "I'm leav - " But before she could even finish her sentence, or even finish that word, the girl heard footsteps and hurriedly stopped talking. Ugh, finally! she thought to herself, peeking out from behind the pillar. This ended up being her fatal mistake. Well, that and the very bad choice of a victim. . .

"Expeliarmus!" A girl's voice yelled, and the dungbomb flew out of her hand. Gia knew that it was time to go and immediately tried to make her escape, but it was much too late. The person who'd performed the disarming charm and made the dungbomb - her only one at the moment! - roll out of her hand had already arrived beside her.

The young Gryffindor student was mad, and felt like kicking something. Kicking it hard. Now, she had no chance of escaping, certainly not with the blonde girl's wand trained on her. Even if she did manage to get out of the sticky situation she had placed herself in, Gia knew that the girl had seen her face and would easily be able to recognize her if they ever ran into each other again. The first year rolled her eyes, not even bothering to pretend she wasn't the person who'd just been about to throw a dungbomb at the girl. And, like it usually did when she was angry, her voice came out icy and cold.

"Well, let's see here. We have me, a perfectly wonderful girl and amazing student, and you. . ." Gia glared at the person in front of her. "Well, actually, what are you? Some sort of police or something? Like really, who goes around with their wand pointed at people who've done absolutely nothing wrong?" she raised an eyebrow at the blonde, waiting impatiently for an answer, a smirk eventually finding it's way onto her face. Technically, she hadn't done anything wrong, since the dungbomb never even left her hand until the girl used a spell to make it fly out of her reach. This was a very thin claim to make, even to herself, and she knew that. Still, Gia's whole posture radiated confidence no matter how she felt inside.

Arissa narrowed her eyes as she noticed the red tie worn by the owner of the dungbomb.

'Gryffindor again. Am I getting cursed or something?'

Her face however was still impassive, despite her annoyance at her lack of luck when it comes to the house of lions. A part of her did wonder regarding her rather unbecoming fate of getting in trouble because of Gryffindors, but she dismissed it in favor of focusing on the girl, or should she say, 'the wonderful girl and amazing student'.

She snorted. The Slytherin was conflicted between being offended or amused at the blatant shamelessness presented before her. However, she did not lowered her wand yet. The girl was either shameless or mistaking Weasley Wizard Wheezes as a perfume store, and was hoping to grace the corridors with its fragrance.

"Doing nothing wrong you say?" She mused, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "That's weird. The hand that I saw clearly made an attempt of throwing that very thing on my way. Before it was stopped by my spell."

What a bad luck she has, encountering troublesome Gryffindors every single time. Were Gryffindors her age merely compassed of these kind of people, or did she missed the truly tolerable lions? Was it because she rejected that house the first chance she got?

Seeing the smirk on the other girl's face, the Slytherin decided to play a bit. "So, why do this wonderful and amazing student doing here, lurking on innocent - by that I truly mean innocent bystander with a dungbomb in her hand then?" She questioned, eyeing the dungbomb on the ground briefly.

She couldn't seem to recall ever seeing this girl before, or she may have forgotten about her, but that didn't mean she was not displeased by the blatant shamelessness of a response she got.

"If your version of innocence also included failed attempts, then I suppose it's correct." Her brows rose, wand still pointed towards the brown haired girl. "However, mine is different. An attempt to do something was what I call as guilty. I'm no martyr who would gladly welcoming a dungbomb in my way just so I can have an excuse to point my wand."

If she did that, then she wouldn't be a Slytherin. And the girl won't escape unscathed. That she was sure. It won't merely ended up with her wand pointing as a mean of intimidation. No, it'll be much, much worse. Considering that having stinking smell because of the dungbomb would definitely jeopardise her reputation among the Slytherins, she was not pleased. She couldn't imagine the amused look she'll be getting from her fellow snakes.

If it happened to someone else, she may laugh at the situation, as it provided her with some sort of entertainment, but when it ended up with her as the victim, well, let's just say Arissa Wright was far from being a good sport.

"Better have a good excuse for that, young lady. I can't seem to recall ever knowing you, so I may or may not cast another spell as my form of revenge, depending on your answer. Or bringing you to Hospital Wing, if you did harbor a certain mental affliction." She gazed at her suspiciously. That was her being kind, by the way. Her manners couldn't allow her to call the girl a psycho on her first meeting.

On second meeting, possibly. But not first.

The blonde girl in front of her seemed annoyed with the Gryffindor, which, she knew, probably made a lot of sense, since Gia had just tried to throw a dungbomb at her. . . but still. A small, harmless prank like that was hardly anything to get so upset over, and certainly not something to pull your wand out at. The first year rolled her eyes once more. "Actually," she said, "all I was doing was holding that thing. I was just about to leave when you came unexpectedly." Then, she added, "That's the only reason you saw me, by the way." That was a fact she needed to make clear. For under normal circumstances, she would never, ever have been caught by this girl pretending she was a clever little princess.

Ugh. It was all Gia could do to keep herself from rolling her eyes in exasperation again when she heard the next thing the Slytherin girl remarked. "Okay, Miss I'm-So-Perfect," The eleven year old said, the smirk on her face now accompanied by her crossed arms, "Let me tell you something. You've got this whole situation backwards." A gleam appeared in her eyes when she realized just what she could do in these conditions. "You see, the dungbomb could have fallen out of anyone's hand at the moment, including yours. Also, if someone enters this corridor right now, all they'd see is you, holding a wand up in my face, and me, standing here totally innocent. So technically," she paused to let this information sink in a little bit before continuing. "I could very, very easily frame you for having the dungbomb, you know?" She gave the blonde a sly smile. "Hmm, doesn't look so good for you right now, does it?" A smug look appeared in her eyes as she waited to see what the other's reaction would be.

A small snort escaped her when the other student called her "young lady." Gia raised an eyebrow, now acting unfazed by the wand pointed directly at her face. "Okay, first of all, you're around my age, and not any older. So don't act like you're my. . ." her sentence ended abruptly, trailing into a small silence between the two. "Don't act like you're a professor," she finished weakly. The girl had just been about to say her mother, but she decided not to. When the confident demeanor she had been wearing disappeared for a few seconds as she thought about this, Gia bit her lip hard to try and get it back again. Still, it took longer than she liked, and now she was pretty sure the other girl had some idea of how to get to her. . . if she wanted to. Which hopefully she wouldn't, because that would end badly for both of them.

"'A certain mental affliction?!'" The Gryffindor asked, incredulous. "Are you serious?" When it seemed very clear that the girl had been being serious when she said that, Gia glared at her. "That's one thing I can promise you for sure. I am not sick." She paused again to try and keep control of her emotions, because she was beginning to feel like pulling out her own wand as well. "You know, I'm really thinking of calling out for help right now. And like I said earlier, if I do end up doing that, you'll be in a much worse position than I am in now."

Something told Arissa that this girl before her had been doing this thing for a long time, seeing as she didn't even faze when giving her answer. Or lies as the Slytherin called it. A troublemaker and a Gryffindor? Truly a bane of her existence. She was so eloquent that Arissa would have believe it if she didn't have enough experience in dealing with people, and a cousin who had make it his mission to create a prank every single week for years. A dungbomb falling from the hand behind the pillar accidentally? Plausible but not totally unbelievable. The familiar expression has been a give away, as she has seen it for years already.

If it was something else other than the dungbomb, Arissa would have walked out from here a long time ago. She didn't exactly mind those Weasley Wizard Wheezes products, but she hated dungbombs the most. It was for her, the most humiliating product of all time, especially when it took a lot of effort to get rid of the unpleasant smell on your clothes and the humiliation that would soon come.

The fact that the girl thought she could easily frame the Slytherin irked her a bit, but still, she can't say she was not amused by it, as she has yet to meet a spunky person that dare to defy her. "You can try to frame me or something, but do you really think that you're the only one who can act all innocent?" She retorted easily. If the icy tone was not enough proof of her state, the hint of malice in her grey eyes surely conveyed the message.

"We could try to see who among us can act better."

During their civil conversation, they were looking at each other, so Arissa could easily noticed the wavering confidence from the brown haired girl. A brief moment of weakness perhaps, but one the Slytherin wouldn't let go easily.

Her brows lifted haughtily as she said, "I can act however I want, little lady. Your opinion matters not to me." Inwardly, she did wonder what was it in her words that had caused such a reaction, but while she didn't mind exploiting it for future uses, other's personal business was not one she would easily bother, unless their relationship was far too strained for any leftover sympathy.

She has her own principle after all.

The sound of the footsteps nearby caught Arissa's attention, as she turned her head towards the source, her hand quickly moved to her side, and wand no longer pointed towards the other girl. Arissa could felt her heart racing, as she wondered about the best strategy to avoid any trouble placed upon herself. Hadn't the Gryffindor said something about calling for help?

'Damn it all.'

Gia could tell that the Slytherin girl was getting more and more annoyed with her, something that brought a small smirk to her face. Even though she was pressed against a pillar and a wand was being pointed directly at her head, the first year was kind of. . . well, enjoying the whole situation. Sure, she could tell that the blonde would follow through with each and every threat without a single hint of guilt in her heart, but it was oddly satisfying to know that she was capable of getting to someone who seemed to think that she was unreachable by anyone else. And plus, the young Gryffindor was certain that she'd escape soon and leave it all behind, so there was nothing to worry about. Not really.

The other first year shot an icy retort her way, but if the whole point was to intimidate her, the plan was not working at all. Gia let out a small, disbelieving snort. "I would very much like to do that," she said in reply to the Slytherin's "let's see who can act more innocent" challenge. "Trust me, my act will be much, much more believable than yours." Backing up her words, Gia's tone was completely confident, and there was no way a single drop of doubt could be heard.

A few seconds later in their conversation, the first year decided on the wrong reply, leaving a beat of silence in between the two of them. Luckily for her, the blonde didn't question Gia's reason for growing quiet so quickly. Perhaps there was a tiny bit of good in her after all. . . But the Gryffindor pushed that thought aside as fast as she could. No, from what she'd seen and heard so far today, that wasn't possible. If someone's first response upon seeing someone with a dungbomb in their hand was to pull out their wand and threaten them, well. . . she had begun to wonder if maybe it was the Slytherin with the very same "mental affliction" that she'd accused Gia of having.

"So what you're saying," the girl started with a glare in the other student's direction, "is that you're able to act in any way you'd like around here, while I cannot?" Even if the blonde girl was blind to the feelings and emotions of others, she'd have to understand how unfair that seemed. But then again, maybe not. Since she clearly thought of herself as so much better than everyone else, there was a decent chance that she didn't care whatsoever about what Gia thought. That was almost exactly what she'd said earlier, wasn't it? Still, no matter how hard it was to do so, none of that was going to stop the Gryffindor from getting her point across. It was in her nature to keep trying, no matter what happened. Even for small, unimportant things like this.

The topic of her framing the other had slipped away from the words they were actually speaking, but nevertheless, the thought of doing so was still somewhere towards the front in Gia's mind. When they heard footsteps coming their way, it was obvious that her threat was still somewhere in the other girl's mind as well, since the Slytherin's face paled slightly and her hand dropped from her side so it was no longer pointing at Gia. If she didn't know better, the eleven year old would have thought the blonde was nervous. And perhaps she was.

Even though Gia herself had thought that the Slytherin would make good all of her threats, she was now beginning to doubt that. . . slightly. They could've been empty, she realized, but they certainly hadn't seemed that way when the other girl had first made them. Still, Gia didn't have much time to think about this because before she even registered what she was doing, her legs began moving of their own accord. Where were they leading her? Oh, the answer was simple: anywhere that this girl was not.

The young Gryffindor knew that the blonde girl wouldn't be distracted for long, so she hurried to escape before the other student realized what was happening. Hopefully her attempt would work. . . it better.

Arissa's attention was solely on the newcomer, whose footsteps were getting louder. Her expression was impassive, as she tried to shove away any sign of nervousness, as it would be a dead giveaway if the person turned out to be a prefect, or worse, a professor. The Slytherin hoped for neither, as she wanted to avoid any troublesome encounter with the rules enforcers at Hogwarts.

She may be arrogant, and often looked down on others, but she's not stupid enough to defy either the prefects or the professors. Even if she did, well, she merely had to make sure that she didn't get caught. While it was very tempting to run right now, Arissa had her books that would definitely slow her down. And she detest running the most.

It was then that Arissa saw the mysterious person who almost caught them, and her mouth morphed to a frown as she came face to face with the familiar face of a boy her age - she saw him in class, so she was quite confident with her assumption. At the very least, he wore a green tie, which would make it easier for her.

What displeased her was the fact that the Gryffindor girl from before had managed to run away, no doubt sneaking away stealthily with whatever skills she had - an admirable ability if this was a normal case and Arissa was not made to be the one who was careless and let it happen in the first place.

It's quite humiliating for her, and that was an impression she didn't want to have onto herself. She sure hoped that they wouldn't cross each other's path next time. The girl herself was interesting, and one Arissa didn't mind interacting with, except for the fact that she was almost fell victim to the other's dungbomb prank.

It was almost impossible to forget the unpleasant first impression.

She heard the boy asked her regarding her motive of being here, causing her to lift her chin haughtily and spoke, "I don't need to answer this foolish question of yours. This is, after all, a corridor. Not the Forbidden Forest. I have the privilege to be here without anyone questioning the reason why."

Her eyes then wandered around the vicinity - pillars and corner, before turning her attention towards that boy and handed him her books. "But you are correct. It would be inappropriate to stay here for much longer considering the time, and as such, we ought to return to the Common Room. I shall accompany you in this short walk to our destination."

As they passed the corner and pillars, the Slytherin paused her steps, before declaring, " We shall settle this unfinished business of ours next time we met. If that is not what you desire, then you better hope we won't have any encounter in near future."

Her voice rang out in the midst of silence, causing her companion to shoot her a bewildered look. Arissa herself was not sure of the current location the Gryffindor was at, but she was sure the girl was not far from the pillar where they have their little encounter. Hopefully, it was close enough for the brunette to hear her, wherever she's at. The Slytherin made sure her expression remained calm despite her explosive desire to threw tantrum right at that moment - the only thing that stopped her from doing that was the knowledge that by doing that, she would have lost.

So she didn't.

It didn't take long for Gia to make it out of the other girl's line of sight. Luckily, she also wasn't spotted by whoever was coming, and so she was out of trouble - for now. Who knew what types of tricks the Slytherin might have up her sleeve for getting her in trouble as well. . . But it seemed like today was the first year's lucky day. Or lucky couple of minutes, that is, since she had gotten threatened by someone, that very same someone pointed a wand directly at her face, and also gotten caught red handed when she was about to launch her best prank yet. Still, at least things were going better now, right?

Just as the young Gryffindor thought those very words, her gaze fell onto the dungbomb that she'd left right there out in the open! How had she forgotten about it? The whole idea of being lucky dissipated in less than a second, her lips curving downward in a frown. Even if she had been caught in the middle of her wonderfully planned prank, at least her escape from the Slytherin's clutches would have been pretty impressive for sure! But of course she just had to forget one crucial part of her escape plan. . .

Voices reached the small alcove where Gia was hidden and she bit her lip, almost positive one of the two others out there would find - or remember, in the blonde's case - the dungbomb that had rolled onto the floor a bit ago. When she heard the Slytherin's response to the other student's question, she covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. What happened to acting all innocent? It seemed that the other first year was doing the exact opposite: acting all high and mighty just like she had with Gia herself. That was sure to annoy whoever was out there, the eleven year old knew.

Gia peeked out of her small hiding space in time to see the Slytherin hand her books to the other student, who, on closer inspection, was also a Slytherin. The girl rolled her eyes at the behavior, and was only slightly surprised when the boy accepted the books. She hadn't really expected him to refuse, since the blonde girl seemed like. . . well, royalty, with the way she acted. Gia would never tell the Slytherin that, of course, but she would definitely think it. Note to self: the Gryffindor thought in her head, don't ever treat the girl like that, even if I think it. Ever.

The other students' footsteps were growing ever so slightly louder, and the eleven year old was certain that meant they were coming closer as well. The Gryffindor ducked her head back inside the alcove just in time, only catching the smallest bit of the Slytherins' robes before she did so. She hoped that neither of them had seen her either.

Suddenly, the footsteps came to a stop. Gia's eyes widened, thinking that one of them had seen her, but no faces came into view in the seconds that followed. Then, the voice of the blonde Slytherin rang out. It was a threat of some sort, but one that Gia agreed with. . . kind of. She could easily say the very same thing back to the other student and certainly would've if it hadn't given away her hiding place. Then, the footsteps resumed, this time heading farther and farther away.

When she was completely sure that no one was around anymore, the brunette gave a big sigh of relief. Clambering out of the alcove, she raced over to the spot where she'd left the dungbomb earlier and was very, very glad to see that it was still intact and perfectly well. Picking it up, the girl hid it again in her coat and carefully made her way back to the Gryffindor Common Room.
Gia Adelard has left the thread.
